I have been cutting & coloring hair for over 25 years all over the world. Starting my hairdressing life in Australia, were I was born, was a lot different from today were I still cut behind the chair in a salon I own in Texas. 2016 is going to be a big one on so many levels for this industry with YouTube taking a new level of social media and opening the door to a new client-hairdresser relationship.

Okay, my name is David Troy and this is a David, Troy sell one so 2018. I can't tell you how excited I am about this year. I'Ve changed the concept of my sell one. A little bit. I basically gone to a booth rental salon, so I have all booth rental hairdressers working in here now, which changes the concept a little bit. I'Ve got new software on my computer, which I'm so excited about. Thank you to the selling guy that recommended the iris or software. It'S awesome. I love it. You know what I love about this software. It automatically just sends out text message reminders. You know it's it's a cool feature, but there's a lot of cool features. You know we're starting that loyalty program and and much much more anyways, I'm getting sidetracked. So let's just jump into the haircut - and this is my first haircut that I'm going to share with everyone this year. So I hope you like it. So this is Jay my model and we're gon na give her a really short pixie haircut. So this is a before, but let's just jump into it. So typically start these haircuts with my first section being pretty high up it's just under the occipital bone. So when I take that first section to create my guideline, it's a pretty high section and I'm tilting a head slightly forward and it looks like I'm pulling it out at a 45 degree angle. Well, actually, not because she's got a head you, after taking that first section on dragging everything back into it and creating more of a flowing guideline. So I'm taking a slightly section from behind and then following my guideline around to make sure it all flows together. When I get to the sides you can see, I'm dragging it back over directing it back just a little bit just to keep a little bit of weight in there. You all the way through the shape, so you can see I'm slightly dragging over directly in the back again pulling it back into my guide line, taking a little section from behind and grabbing that section to make sure everything flows in together. I don't know if everyone does this, but that section behind the ear I always over directs back, because I don't want to create a hole. Basically, I just want to make sure there's enough weight in there. So when I go back through it and texturize it that there's not that whole bond here, so as I move on to the side sections, I haven't created a guide line down the bottom again. My guide line is in the middle of the haircut, so you can see that I'm making sure it's connected and I'm just following it all the way through to the very ends, keeping a little bit of length, because I want this softness I want to wispy. I don't and up and over the ear I want to keep some softness to it, so I can go back through it and texturize and personalize it. But I do follow a guideline. You can see. I'M just pulling everything back or over directing it back. I'M taking vertical sections and just connecting the side so after doing this side and doing it following the shape all the way to the front and I'm gon na go ahead and I'm gon na repeat the same on the other side, then I'm gon na move into The crown area and into the top section basically pulling that straight up going through and just connecting it all on the top, so Jay does have what we call a double crown, or so I want to give her a lot of texture in there. So when she wears it, there's no separations or no hops, so I basically go through and twist it and slightly cut into it to give it that choppy. Look. I want to lose that guideline now and just go through and personalize it giving it a lot of. You

SkullCandy: Is it just me or does the sound cut out every few seconds

Breanna: I don't have education at my salon so I rely a lot on videos like this!

Mary T: I don't like the nape area. If not clean cut through there, it begins to flip up. I would of shaved that area down and built it up gradually in the back, then went through and created the texture. I've been wearing a pixie for years. Women want a more defined, cleaner hair style which can be made messy on top, but clean throughout. Still, I love the look on her

Just Jazz: Thats a bad ass cut!

Sherina Hill: I was waiting to see the front being cut, but this video skipped it. I need to see how the front is cut.

Alyxia Johnson: Watching this because I can't go get a hair cut rn

Babi: This haircut is lovely.

Norma Parks: You rarely show how you connect the top with the sides or if you don't. Why is that? Mot showing the complete cut.
