Detangling curly hair, how to get frizz free curly hair, frizzy curly hair, curly girl method before and after, wash and go curly hair, diffusing curly hair, pixie diffusing, curly girl method

You need a fly, hey guys. What'S up welcome back to my channel, if this is the first time you're seeing me my name is Julia. I post videos about makeup, curly, hair and fashion. Today I have another curly hair video for you guys, I'm gon na be showing you guys how and why. I diffused my hair because I haven't always diffused my hair. I used to swear by being an air dry girl, but I've noticed so much more benefit since I have started diffusing, so I'm gon na show you guys exactly how I do it. Why I do it? What products I use in my wash and go when I am going to diffuse later on, I would say the first reason that I started diffusing. My hair is because of longevity reasons. I was always complaining about how my hair never looked good on the second day. How I always had to do a wet refresh - and I know there are a lot of girls on Instagram, with curly hair, who like boast about the fact that they don't have to use water and they're refreshingly just kind of wake up with good curls. And like don't, we all want that. So I was really trying to figure out what I was doing differently from these girls, that their curls were lasting so much longer and the key really was he. I know I am NOT encouraging. He damaged using a curling iron to curl your hair. I mean all those things will ruin and deflate your curls entirely, but using heat to set your curls and then cold air to really lock in that style. Just what diffusing is really really makes your curls last longer, and once I started doing that, wow the difference and the time it takes me to do my hair in the morning, because my curls just look good. When I wake up now and the breath that I'm gon na teach, you especially, is extremely low heat. The second reason why I started suffusing. My hair is because there were a few pieces, like mainly the pieces underneath like this. One always never looks like this. It never looks spiraled or curly. It always kind of looks a little bit wavy straight. There are just certain parts of our hair that don't curl up like the other parts, and I noticed when you start diffusing it all the curls really spring up, because you like pushing your hair up with that heat and you're setting it in place. So it really encourages your hair to be much more curly. So also in that vein, if you are just transitioning into like a curly girl, lifestyle and your hair, just isn't as curly as it could be. Diffusing could really help enhance the natural texture and define it even more. No, the diffuser that I use is this collapsible silicone diffuser from a company called the curly CO and they're available on Amazon for $ 15. It'S so convenient because it's collapsible, so you can just throw this in your suitcase or your bag and doesn't take up nearly as much space as other diffusers would and then, because it is silicone and it stretches a little bit. It basically fits over any head that you have, so you don't need to buy a blow dryer with a diffuser attachment. This one is really stretchy and it just fits over most standard sizes, and then all your really need to look for in terms of the actual blow. Dryer is just the fact that it has like adjustment settings, so you want to be able to put it to cool, put it to warm, and then I never really use hot. I only use warm and cool. I walked you guys through the wash and go process. Just in case you were wondering, because I do switch up a few things. I tend to use more product when I'm diffusing here is my hair fresh out of the shower. It is so so frizzy in this clip, because normally I will brush my hair like detangle. It in the shower - oh, it does look really gross because I haven't detangled it at all. So the first part that I use on my hair before I even go with my fingers to start detangling. It is this cream from not your mothers. This offers me a ton of shine, softness and a little bit of definition as well. I like to put something in my hair to lubricate it before I start going in with a hair brush and trying to tangle it just because it is so dry. Curly hair, especially mine, is so dry. So if you just go in with your fingers with nothing on your hair and start to tangling, you're going to lose a lot of hair and you'll lose less hair. If you have some kind of product in there, you kind of tangle with conditioner. If you like that better, but I like using a product that I'm already gon na, why my hair so yeah, I'm just brushing that, through with like a fake Denman brush. This is not a real Denman brush, but it acts exactly the same and it does the same things a Denman brush does that is evenly distributed throughout my hair. The next step is to go with something that has a little bit more hold and definition. So I use the not your mother's curl talked mousse. It is from the same line as your mother's clothes. Walk. Cream movies are silicone and glycerin free, and they have been my saving grace all summer long because most products do have glycerin and that's okay. For curly girls, it really softens your hair and lubricates. I need to stop saying the word lubricates. It really softens your hair and provides a lot of moisture, but glycerin also has some adverse effects. I have an entire video about why glycerin could affect us or in dew points or temperatures. In short, it reacts to certain dew points and they can actually make your curls expand and become frizzier and really humid temperatures. So when it is really hot and humid, I don't like to use any products with glycerin in them, though, I'm just applying the mousse shaking it up, squirting it out into my hand, and then with this one. I will do more of those praying hands, motions to really smooth it down my hair, the big thing here is: you do actually need both products. If you only use the mousse, your hair comes out really sticky, it's really not nice. I'Ve done it before, like I'm. Even just used a little bit less cream and I noticed that without the cream my hair was so sticky because the mousse is a little bit sticky, because it's like a gel it just you know it defines, holds your hair without a crunch. But then, if you don't use the mousse and you only use the cream, I noticed that I don't have enough hold my hair go frizzy too fast, because it's just full of softness, but there's no hold in there and once you go outside again, your curls will Expand a little bit, you've got poofy curls and overall, it will just look drier because you don't have that definition. Some girls will use the diffuser to like get out the cast, which is like the crunchy cast left over from gels or mousses or that holds product. I usually just scrunch it away, but some girls actually use a diffuser because the diffuser gets rid of that so because of that it can also get rid of it while you're diffusing your hair. So you want to put a little bit more, so the hold is still there. So now, I'm putting my back out of my face to do my makeup and I'm gon na take a 10 to 15 minute break to let the initial extreme wetness kind of dissipate. You know when your hair is sopping wet. It'S just really a waste of time to kind of go on with the diffuser then, because all you're doing is getting that excess water out and you're, not really like diffusing, yet you're, just like draining the water. So I prefer to let my hair sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Do something else do my makeup and by the time I come back, my hair is completely ready to diffuse, it's still wet, but it's not stopping wet and it like completely saturated with water. To the point where it's just gon na take me like two hours to diffuse, so big tip there do not do it right away, give it like 10 minutes, so the whole way that I diffuse is called pixie. Diffusing pixie diffusing is like a gentle method of diffusing that causes the minimal amount of frizz, and you start with the blow-dryer completely turned off, and you will pick the blow dryer and the diffuser up to the root and make sure all of the curls are being Pushed upwards in like a really uniformed position, and the whole reason that you're doing this with it turned off is when it's turned on your hair is blowing all over the place and it tends to get into weird positions and get frizzy, because it's being dried in Those strange positions, if it's all over the place and you're locking it in that way it can come out a little bit wonky with some strange indents, rather than you just picking it up from the bottom, making sure it's all uniform and being picked up. The top of your scalp and then once it's at the top of your scalp, then you turn it on so pixie. Diffusing also means that you do not use hot hot heat. You alternate between warm Heat and the cool Heat, so once the diffuser is at your scalp, you turn on warm and then you'll leave it for about a minute. Once you feel your scalp starting to get a little bit hot and uncomfortable, then you switch the setting to cool and you leave it there again until your hair and your scalp feels completely cool, then you turn the blow-dryer off and bring it back down. When you alternate between like heat and cool air, the cool air goes in and actually sets that curl right in place and really like locks it in and that's what's giving me the longevity. So if you don't use cool air, you won't see as good results. Just keep moving this around on my head and for the first go-around, I'm really just like focusing on the entire kind of hair. I don't really have like a technique, I'm just bringing it up to my scalp and doing the same thing. I told you about putting it on warm once the scalp feels warm turning it to cold once the scalp feels cold completely turning it off and lowering it down at that point now, once you have worked your way across both sides of hair and your hair is At least a little bit more dry, it's still obviously wet and not done once you're. At this point, I start to focus on the upper layers of my hair. Um diffusing does tend to shrink your curls a little bit in the fact that it makes it curlier. So your hair is obviously going to shrink more. So you guys know me. I like my length I like to enhance my length I like to make sure the bottom layers of my hair always look long as possible. So the way that you can do that with a diffuser is that you focus the defusing at the top of your hair at those upper layers, making sure those are as curly as possible. You don't care about shrinking up at the top, because it's not gon na affect your length, but then at the bottom, you'll notice throughout the video that I am diffusing kind of to the side. Instead of bringing the diffuser straight upwards, I'm kind of just like going like this and diffusing to the side, so I don't affect the length and then you'll even see at some points in the video I will remove the diffuser and just use the actual blow-dryer, as Is hold on to my ends, so they don't go flying everywhere and get super frizzy. I don't just focus this at the root and make sure those roots are getting dry because one, it's way more effective without the diffuser to dry your roots. That way, because it's a more direct heat and it's just happening faster, but also, I use that time to kind of pull those bottom layers and make sure they're not shrinking up too much at the bottom, especially on this top root. Because who cares if this top root at the bottom of my hair, the nape of my neck, is curly? You know like I can kind of pull out it a little bit and just you know, stretch out that legs a little bit and get it to look. How I want so, if you think, does give you a out of control over where your length is where your hair is curly. Ax stand, you can really kind of like personalize your whole head. It is my favorite way to do my hair right now, because it leaves me with these really really tight curls up top at the bangs. Does such a good job at the bangs like? If you do nothing else, you should try diffusing your bangs at least because your bangs will look so much curlier than they usually do, and it'll really like enhance those pieces in the front of your face that you want to look the curliest yeah. I just continue this method. You'Ll see me sometimes putting the diffuser back on and doing the same technique, sometimes I'll, take it off and I'll just blow at the roots and as you move throughout this diffusing process, you can be less and less gentle. So what I mean by that is, you can leave the air on as you get going so once your hair is kind of setting it's feeling a little bit less damp and a little bit. It feels a little bit more crunchy when it's like in that in-between phase of almost dry but still covered in product funds. It'S at that point to save time you can leave the diffuser on. At least this is what I do. I don't see too much phrase from this. I just make sure that I am a hundred percent pixie diffusing in the beginning stages, because when your hair is the most wet, it's the most prone to frizz, like 30 minutes to an hour later, depending on how thick your hair is. Finally, and it's starting to be done at this point, I will only use cold air, so you see me going around my whole head at this point and I'm only using cold there's no heat coming out of this dryer, and that's because I want to make sure The whole head gets that cold air so that it's a hundred percent set in place and then, after that, all you got to do is put your hands and your scalp and start fluffing. It up. You know get rid of any crunchiness left over by just squeezing it and scrunching it, and the crunchiness will completely dissipate and you'll be left with really soft touchable to find curls and after finishing diffusing. These are my results. I absolutely love it. I feel, like my hair, looks super super curly and very shiny, and you cannot see any like damage from the heat. You cannot see any frizziness from using the diffuser which used to happen to mean so hopefully this was helpful for you guys. I hope you learned a lot if you do start to using your hair. K C: Omg I needed this video. She explained everything beautifully. Everything you mentioned applied to me. I’m a let my hair air dry kind of girl but the curls never hold & by day 2 it looks dull & frizzy. Some pieces are nicely curled & some are wavy straight. I’ve also had a hard time finding something to use in my hair for hold because either it doesn’t hold or it leaves a sticky feeling. I cannot wait to try this method out. Thank you so much.

Freya Chandra: I absolutely love these types of videos! Please keep making more :)

Julie Bennett: Very helpful! Next dry, I am going to use this method and even get the Not your Mother's products! Specific, good explanations!

Sinndy Morr: Lol..it would be such a blessing to have a one and done styler . I have been super curious about the Curl Talk line. Tried the Aussie Curl Mousse. The smell gave me such a headache! Forced myself to try it a few times. It is a no go! This summer, I discovered my hair LOVES Aloe. Have noticed a tremendous difference in my hair, when I avoid products that contain Coconut, high on the ingredient list. For the last 6 months I have been using Maui Moisture, Hibiscus Water Conditioner. Use a small amount as a leave in, as well. So bummed that Maui Moisture does not make a stylers!!

THEE Luanne: Love this video! Thank you

Nicole L: Really amazing video and you explained your method beautifully. Ps.. your hair is gorgeous!

K O: Do u ever plop for around to remove excess water b4 diffusing? Also I started recently hover diffusing, a technique to dry your roots 1st that I've learned by watching ManesByMel. I then like to pixie diffuse after my roots have some what of a cast. I tend to go for volume over definition (upside down, flipping side to side ect) so it may not be a routine everyone prefers. Love your vids Thx for the frizz forecast tip

Hannah Rackliffe: I love your curls and haircut so much ❣️

Tracy Selmon: Gonna try today!

Andrew B:

Ella Roecker: wait, what hair type do u have??'
