Hey guys, it's Ellie and Christina, and welcome back to beauty, caps, fatal or wooly burial, where we test printers beauty hacks and see if they're a fail or Holy Grail or I'm only film. So today, Tech is a requested hack and it is, as you can probably tell straw girls. So it's an overnight heatless, hair hack and we started it last night. So we're gon na be showing you that in a bit, but for this hack you will need straws, bobby pin and a spray bottle full of water. So let's go ahead and jump over to last night. We'Re gon na show you exactly how we got to this point and then we'll see you back here in a minute: okay, so in full disclosure we're winging this totally winging. So I think the first thing that we're gon na do is we're gon na take a section of hair and then I'm gon na spray it down. So it's damp. Okay! So then you're gon na take a straw and wrap your hair around the straw. Are you gon na wrap away from your face or trying to wrap away? Okay from, I think we're gon na wrap away, but i, like legit, always get confused to it every time. So the next step is to use a bobby pin to secure it in place which Christine is gon na do and I'm not ready bobby pin is play yeah. Now I'm gon na attempt to tie the straw, but like that's like a joke to meet with long hair like how we're gon na tie this. Okay thanks me, what's going on with my life, see I'm like losing it yeah. So this is where we time-lapse yeah a time-lapse, the whole thing so same process: you're gon na wet your hair you're gon na. Like section your hair off you're, gon na wet it and then you're gon na wrap your straw bobby, pin and tie. But you finish that everything this little look like we're all wrapped up. We did not use a whole box of straws, not even close. No, these boxes are of 100 and we didn't even use half so yeah. So now we're gon na go to bed and try to sleep on this and tomorrow we're gon na update you on literally everything good night. Okay. So it's been a full night's rest. We are going to take these out now and see if we get nice, bouncy curls yeah, let's go do it. I don't even know where's my gosh, I'm so nervous. Yes, that's that's where we're at right now, like this Victorian wig. Yes, wait here! Okay, so for the record, you know how I did mine kind of different vignette. Your method gives you a different curl, so we'll be back in a minute after we've taken lots of time to get all of these straws and bobby pins out of our hair. Alright, so, according to Pinterest, now you're supposed to take your spirally curls and separate them so that they look more, I don't know what the word for that. I remember natural. I don't know I'm not sure, but we're doing okay. So I changed my shirt. So we could get a better view of where the curls start and end, and all of that, so this is what it looks like after being brushed out with I use my fingers, you used a brush and your fingers. Yes, mostly my think, mostly your fingers, yeah and yeah. This is now, of course, there are like a million ways that you could style this. This is not. I never have imagine myself with this curly hair. So it's a little weird. You know how, like, after you get a haircut or dier hair drastically you like, don't recognize yourself. I don't recognize myself right now, like yeah, that's a drastic transformation ayo. So if we're gon na talk about like pros and cons, you know the pros. I feel like you're, pretty obvious the curls they show up for you, the cons and the bait. The biggest con for me is that it was pretty uncomfortable to sleep on the straws, so you have to kind of like the side. Is it worth not sleeping super? Well, to have like really fantastically curly hair the next day, that's up to you yeah, I'm gon na, say because it did what it said it would and if there were no real huge surprises yeah. Besides, like how short I'm gon na say, it's a Holy Grail, yeah cuz, it totally in a hundred percent work yep, it's just like a style thing like it's just the style, you of curl, you want to have yeah, so this is like yeah and I'd reassure And I think a lot of it comes down to like just be prepared that you're gon na have to figure out how to style it, because it's timing that furrier was awesome like as it is. I think it's pretty box ready to walk out yeah. I don't know it's so different, but so cool well, we'll see we'll see. So for us, I'm thinking this is a Holy Grail. Jenny Tromba: Hey there, Just wanted to say I love the curls. I am trying to do this.. You guys make it look so easy. I have hair all the way to my bumm so this was really hard to do. I had to leave my straws straight down and also I had to use white masking tape to tape two straws together just to do this. The bobby pins I had a hard time to keep the straws against my scalp so i used at least 2 or more just to keep it in place.. But after a few tries I have done it and it looks awesome. But everyone in the house had a blast laughing at me because I looked so silly.. Thanks for the video :)

RomanceAnd2ndChances2: You can use strings from a destroyed shirt instead of straws. It is actually really comfortable to sleep in with cotton strings than straws.

Michelle S.565: Back in my grandmom's day there wasn't any "heat" methods of getting curls. ( curling iron / rod). She used to do the same method with wet / damp hair and cut strips of fabric like cotton and then do the same process. The fabric is more comfortable to sleep on. But you get wonderful curls that stayed for days. Also, smaller sections of hair and closer to scalp gets tighter/ smaller curls - more hair ( bigger sections) gets you loser curls.

arandom_amber: I watched this and then found a similar tutorial on facebook using bubble wrap. You roll up small pieces of bubble wrap and then use those like you use the straws in this video. It produced a different bouncier curl. You should try it!

If I didn't know you guys had fairly straight hair I would assume it's your natural hair type. Zakiya Plummer: if you want a variety of size curls, there's things called perm rods, you wrap up your hair like on the straws, bend them and they keep their shape overnight without having to pin them or anything. works on thin or thick hair, wet or dry, curly or straight :)
kaleidoscope: An easy way to do this without the discomfort of having straws in your hair is to use paper towels and be extremely careful not to rip them (this works better with better/thicker brands of paper towels) and it produces just about the same result, more or less.

JessiHarm: This would be really great for people who want to do the vintage styles you can continue to brush out your hair and shape them until you get the nice vintage bouncy curls are waves when you do pin curls you get a similar effect only these ones are smaller and tighter which would be really good for a 30s or 40s traditional hairstyle
