#DominiqueSachse #Hair #ShortHairTutorial

Hi, it's great to see you. It is a short hair, styling video by request today, a lot of you have asked for a new tutorial. Since you saw the hair has changed again. I'Ve gone even shorter and i think, what's really important is figuring out. Not only how to style short hair so that it has a nice contemporary edge to it without too much rounding and poofiness, but also as we get older, we deal with thinning hair and so how to make it look, thicker and healthy, while styling and oftentimes. When you have a short haircut, you have to basically have them cut cut in do point, cutting use, thinning shears so that it's not too bulky on the side. So there's a certain technique to get the right look that might thin the hair a little bit depending on the type of hair that you have, but there are also areas where you want to get volume. For instance, for me i mean i like to have mine with a little bit of height up front. I can i can sweep it forward and keep it low, but if i want to have some height here, i've got to use some product to be able to enable that. So i'm going to walk you through this tutorial. One thing is going to totally blow your mind. I have a new hair dryer. Yes, i have used the elchem since the inception of this channel, but everybody's been talking about this dyson, the dyson pro, and then it comes with all of these super cool attachments and then way. Do you see what that sucker does it's mind-blowing? This whole thing is mind-blowing, so i've had this for a couple of months. I didn't want to feature it until i've used it and got got used to it, and i adore it. The hair is clean and it's wet. The first thing that i'm going to do for me is put in a styling product that helps with split ends, helps with frizz, makes hair look super healthy and shiny. This is by eva nyc. It'S main magic 10 in one split, end mender, and it's something like 14. It'S it's affordable, it men split ends: anti-breakage reduces frizz, no sulfates parabens or phthalates. Vegan cruelty, free, it's great product, and it does make the hair super shiny. So, depending on the length of your hair will determine how much you pump not so much for me, i just need a little bit um, especially kind of on the ends, so i don't hit all the way at the part. I sort of start right here and go to my ends and just focus where the hair would be the driest and that's, of course, always up front. So the next thing would be volume or thickening spray, and for that i'm going to use kristin s thickening spray. It'S easier to target, i think, because it's a liquid and for me a little goes a long way. So, okay, where do i want the most thickness for you? This will depend on areas where you have thinning hair or where you would want some volume. I'D like a little bit of volume up front and then also right back here in the crown just a few sprays for me, does the trick and that's it now, it's time to blow it out, i've got a couple of brushes with me. One is by from this is kind of an frommm kind of a cool brush. It'S a square round. It gives you the opportunity on the flat side to really straighten out the hair and then on the side, where there's the angle that 90 degree angle and bend, you can get some root, lift, there's also a small barrel. I would say this is a one inch barrel. This is also helpful in areas where you want to get some height as well. Here'S the trick and what we're really going to work to prevent is the old 90s bubble of the the rounded at the top. The modern, pixie and short hair is a little bit flatter toward the top. It'S a little bit more swept forward, and then you can scoop it and give it a lift. So we're just going to update this short hairdo and make it contemporary a lot of women. Shy away from short hair because they feel like they're, going to look older or too matronly, and it's all in how you style it. If you were just to go on instagram or pinterest and type in pixie, you'd, be amazed at all the cool, modern edgy styles. Young and old are wearing it, so here we go high setting, of course, i always start in the back by the way and we'll flatten out this area. So this is all going to go straight down and pressed against the nape of my neck. Before we go anywhere else, okay, so with that part done, it's just smooth and flat toward the back. So now i'm going to start to move everything forward, and that includes the side i'm going to push forward. I part on this side. Sometimes i'll alternate flip it. If i want to get some volume at the top of my head, but the key is the sides are going to come down straight. I want these nice and flat while i'm doing that. Okay. So this is that cool attachment that i wanted to show you, because if you have a lot of wave or curl in your hair - and you want to get it nice flat and smooth you pop off that attachment you pop on this one and you basically make It run flush to your head and it completely flattens and straightens hair. You want to see if you had just crazy, frizzy, curly hair and you put on this attachment and you just ran it through dry. It would straighten it out like a flat iron. It'S crazy! Amazing, i don't know if you can tell, but do you see how smooth and straight that got to my to my head? It'S really it's! It'S nuts, okay and i just use that for the sides, because i want those nice and flat back to the regular attachment and just push forward all right. So here's the point where i'm going to come in with the brush, because i've got curl to fight a lot of you straight haired. Ladies, can literally continue sweeping it forward side to side and be able to call it a day. I need a brush, i'm going to do the square round, one starting where my curls start to come in, which is the front and also where i want to get the most volume. So let me make this really important point. I am not doing a bubble like that, i'm taking it wrapping it around. I am now sweeping it forward because i want to pull it forward. Straightening as i go and then swooping out to the side like that. So, there's a big difference in creating that, as opposed to the rounded bubble at the part, the top part up here i like to come forward a little bit so you'll notice that i'm taking the brush now toward the back and i'm going in the opposite direction. I'M coming forward, you may not need that if you have straight hair, you can literally just push your hair forward with the air dryer. For me, i've got to use a little bit of brush to smooth it out back here at the crown is the area where i wanted to get in some height, so that's good to use the brush back here as well. So at this point i'm practically done. I just take the dryer and what i'm doing is this comes forward this i'm now shifting from my left side kind of back to the right. This is coming back and this is going to come back to meet it and then i'm going to do that with the cold shot of the dryer to help set it okay. So here's the super cool thing about a pixie is that you can wear it very soft and natural like this and put in you know a little bit of a pomade and call it a day or if you want to kind of jazz it up and and Get some height and and spike, and all of that what i do is normally i will dry my hair first and then i will put on my makeup so after my hair is dry and especially after i do the front. So let me just let me just warm these up just to be able to show you all right. So let's say i want some height up front. I'Ve got these wide clips and i will take this section that i just heated divide. It really in two. Take this front section, and i'm literally just going to clip it up like so look like a little rooster same thing with the section behind it, and this actually serves two purposes: it trains, the hair to spike up, and it also helps you put your makeup on, Because it'll keep it out of your face like that, that's it i mean i will at this point put on my makeup. Let this sit for about 15 minutes. However long it takes to do my makeup and then once this is cooled, we'll come back and we will use a pomade to sculpt and get it into place. Okay, we're just going to pretend that it's set for 20 minutes, but it really sat for five good enough finishing up now with kevin murphy. Freehold medium hold styling paste to me. This stuff functions more like a stronghold than a medium hold. So a little goes a long way. You don't want to overdo styling product and then have your hair feel too gunky. I just take these out and, as you can see just by holding the hair in place and cooling, it's already created some lift right. Where i want it, the styling paste looks like that. I mean i for me literally that much should be enough. I can always add more, that's my feeling right and i just take it, and i start to literally i like a mohawk. I just start spiking it up, i'm going to take it and kind of flatten the sides down and then your hands are your best friend start playing. Having a few pieces come forward. Having a few go up, a little bit off to the side is cool. You know kind of edgy like i said this sort of sweep to the back and then continuing over this way make sure this is nice and pressed down anyway, you get the just right, so there you go, it's got volume where i want it to have volume. It'S flatter where i want it to be flatter, but it just goes to show. There are so many options that you can do with short hair. It'S just kind of knowing what to do with it and how to play with it and not being not being afraid of it, and also, i will say you know, finding a good stylist who knows how to cut it right so that you do have these modern Options and you're not you're, not stuck with a dated look and then, when you have things where you want them, if you feel like you need a little extra hit, you could always lock it in with a little bit of hairspray. I will often do that. Just up front, if i want you know some some more lift or if i'm really kind of spiking, these guys sort of up and out use your favorite hairspray you've seen me feature kenra volume, 25 many times, helium hairspray is another good one i'll provide links to All the products used in the description portion of the video below but pixies are fun and i think they're cool and they're modern and they're quick. They really can be if your hair is cooperative, i've always had to fight mine, but considering the fight. This is the shortest fight ever anyway, um you requested this video. So thank you very much for that. You know i usually am there the first hour or so after the video posts, i'm in the comments section. Dominique Sachse: One more little note, and this one I hate to publish, but I have to alert you to a scam that’s been showing up in the comments section of my videos. It’s by a WhatsApp telephone number. If you see it asking you to click on anything, please don’t. Scammers seem to love me, but I don’t love them Please report it! Thank you

Donna D'Alessio: Dominique, as a stylist I love how you enjoy cutting and changing color . I think this is young , sexy and edgy with that darker color! Also love the cool toned make up look. Ok now I want this look for myself

Marty Davis: I am convinced you have never had a bad hair day! The cut, color, and style is perfect and your make up is complimenting it all! Just gorgeous!

Lillian Tom: Wow, that is such an awesome edgy look! Love how the darker hair really brings out your eye color! What a creative way to style and pin back your hair. I’ve been losing strands so your video is tempting me to lose my fear of cutting my hair short. I might just do it! Thank you, Dominique!

Aubrey Covington: Since I cut my hair short like a pixie, but maybe a little longer, I've received so many compliments! Thank you for teaching us all how to create fun edgy looks! Also, I really enjoy the background music in your videos. How do you choose that?

Emily Bernier: Thank you for this tutorial. ❤️ This is exactly what I needed right now. I had long hair my whole life but after I finished chemotherapy in October I had no hair. It grew back curly so that can be challenging in the southern humidity. I would have never cut it short but it’s cool to see all the different styles as it grows. I definitely feel fierce and edgy with short hair for some reason. I’ve been growing it out since and trying to avoid all those awkward phases as I go along. I’ve been going to a barber because I figured they’ve mastered short cuts. It less expensive and since she only cuts and fades the bottom it’s working out well. I adore your channel. I’ve been subscribed for years. It’s such a joy to watch your content. Much love

BarbJ: Just what I needed to see. I recently had my hair cut shorter and needed some tips to make my thinning hair look thicker. You're always a class act, thank you.

Vicki Jowell: Great tutorial! I have an asymmetrical pixie and enjoy the versatility. My hair is straight and fine, but there’s a lot there. Thank you for the styling tips. Many blessings to you.

Irena Renata: Perfect timing for this video. Just went pixie short for the first time in my life….and have been feeling like I got an “old- lady” haircut which might be appropriate because I am 68.. Thank you for making me feel better about myself. You are a beautiful soul inside and out! God bless you!

Gabrielle Holland: Absolutely LOVE your hair and I’ve seen you make a pixie look edgy and modern or soft and sophisticated!! Your talent amazes me again!!! You ROCK it!!

Beverly Nowe: So timely for me. Just had my hair cut last week in a pixie. I am off to buy one of those round/square brushes. Thank you for sharing all of these great tips. You are such a gem. XX

Libby Miller: This was WONDERFUL! I even took pictures!!! Now, to get with my stylist and take the leap! I used to wear my hair short and thought, " Think I will try growing it out"! I did grow it out and now, fight with it EVERY DAY! Lots of "teasing" and hairspray...GADS!!! This was just the encouragement I needed! Thanks, my friend!

Kelly Tredwell: I love this look and have the same cut and colour right now. The pixie is the easiest haircut to manage and style and the right stylist will make it suit and enhance your personal features. This particular cut, I took screen shots of Dominique’s video last week to my stylist so he could replicate for me. He’s been my hairdresser for over 20 years and now when I walk in he says ‘show me the picture of Dominique this time’ hahah. Absolutely brilliant channel, and the Kevin Murphy paste is also my go-to for years. Thank you Dominique for all that you do! From Kelly in Adelaide, Australia ❤️

Michele Miller: Love your hair!! We are the same age and I keep mine in a similar style. Thank you for embracing short hair! I get tired of the same length, no bangs, etc.

Louise Stevens: Thank you so much for the video! I have always loved my hair in a pixie cut but since having chemo a few years ago, it has come in curly. This video may have been the push I need to go short again. Thank you again for all your informative, encouraging and fun content!

Susan Wiley-Grim: I love your shortest style, yesterday was my day a new short and warmer look for me. Feels like the extra energy we need. Thanks and God Bless

Christina Falke: I have had short hair for a long while my friend once told me it is an instant face lift. I believe it, see so many of women with long hair and a cute do would make them look so fresh and younger. FYI: love when your mom is on with you, she has such style and so beautiful…

Dominique Sachse: I have loved chatting with you this past hour. Thank you for being with me, and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I have to hop off for a zoom call, but I will check back in periodically to see if there any questions that I need to answer. Much love and happy hairstyling!

T. Sauer: Thank you, Dominique! I went from a lion’s mane to a pixie around 10 years ago and will never look back! I get comments about how it actually looks more modern than my long hair ever did. I have found and love the styling product “Enjoy Dry Wax“. Terrific for styling without the heaviness or gunk! May be something worth trying in the future... TGIT! Thank goodness it’s Thursday! Dominique‘s post is coming...!

Karen Palladini: What an absolutely beautiful pixie hairstyle! I have worn a pixie for awhile now, and love it. I have an appointment with my hairdresser next week, and will have it styled like yours. I have naturally thick, straight hair, so it should work for me. Your pixie is a very modern, updated version and I love it! It is fun, edgy, and easy to style. I also agree that short hair does not age a woman. It all depends on the style you choose for your hair type and face shape. I have worn my hair short for years, and everyone tells me I look younger than my age. Thank you for all you do. You are a beautiful woman inside and out. Sending love from Canada!

Caroline Jackson: Just cut my hair as short as yours - lost 50-75% of my hair after being really sick from Covid. But my hair is very curly so it being so short & curly is challenging (Houston humidity doesn’t help!). Thanks for the tips - you always look amazing

Fatima DaSilva: Love it! I recently stopped coloring my hair and have been itching to get it chopped off. Love your videos ❤️

Brecca R.: You look beautiful with any hair color, but I really love the darker shades on you! I lost my hair during chemo in 2014 and what a blessing that turned out to be. I have a super short pixie cut and I have never received so many compliments in my life.

Suzi Sharp: What a timely coincidence! I had a haircut this afternoon that is very similar to your new cut. Thank you for doing this tutorial on a short pixie cut and style!

Diane Johnson: So cute!!! I currently have a pixie too!!! Thanks for showing us how to style!!!

Reppi: I have a family wedding in August - I just found my haircut!!! Thank you! Your detailed styling tutorial is a life saver!

Amy Coffin: This video was so timely for me. I am convinced that I can handle going much shorter, now that I know how to use the products for styling a pixie. Thank you so much for your tutorial. Have a beautiful, blessed day.

Tori Jensen: Beautiful! This is my dream hair cut. I have very curly hair, but maybe I'll be brave like you and go for it! Thanks Dominique!❤️

Julie Kostas: I love seeing all your changing looks! Because you're so bold with changing your hair frequently I get to learn soooo many styles vicariously! Love it and love you too, dear Dominique!

Judy Escobedo: The eyelashes you are wearing look really good. Also love the darker, short hair. It really brings out the green in your eyes. Looks so young and easy! I love short hair.

Linda Moutinho: I recently went dark and I am also sporting a pixie!! Thank you for this tutorial I’m always looking for different ways to style it!!!

Kimberley Clark: Gorgeous and yes I needed this…my pixie has been lacking lately.

Joanne Dungate: I honestly think this is the best you have ever looked. Your hair makes me want to go out and get another pixie! I loooove it you look stunning it suits you so much xxx hope you’re well and things are getting better xxx

Karen Bowman: Hi Dominique, two years ago I went through chemotherapy for breast cancer . When my hair grew back in, it was extremely curly and difficult to style. My hair is very thick and fine and used to be straight. I just wanted to thank you for your hair styling tutorials...learning about some of the products available for curly hair has been a life saver.

MaryAnn Parsons.: Love this style and your tips! Can’t wait until my next cut!! ❤️

Michelle Gerdes: You are so fortunate that you can pull off so many hair colors and styles! You look GREAT in all of them but absolutely love this color on you. Also, love the eyelashes!Love your videos!

Cindy's Cozy Cove: Perfect! I just got my hair cut short yesterday ( a lot like yours!) and mine is naturally curly too. This is wonderful. Thanks, Dom❤️❤️

Kaylynn L.: Looks great! I’d love to do that but my hair is fine and curly. Love the look!

diane kelleher: This was a great tutorial! I’ve recently cut my hair to a pixie and do appreciate your tips and tricks! Thank you

michi3278: I've learned so much by watching all of the techniques that you share. I truly appreciate you! Thank you so much!

Katherine Brandt: I am definitely going to do a style very similar as yours Dominique..Thank you so much for the video and I will be reflecting back on it to practice styling my new cut

Sharon Glowa: My hair is exactly like yours! I’ve followed your blow drying tips when my hair was longer. I went short again but have that same curl problem. I’m going to try this technique. I may splurge for that dryer too. Thank you for this!

amanda tyler: Recently cut my long hair back to a pixie with no regrets! Thanks for sharing with us what works!

Brenda Anderson: I love this! I’ve been trying to grow out my pixie! Guess what? I’m cutting it off again! Thank you

Dana Mears: Love, love, LOVE this cut! I've had it before and have been strongly contemplating getting it again. Side note - your arms look amazing! Would love to know what exercises you do to maintain the tone.

Carol Danzer: I’ve been watching you off and on for 5 years - the difference between your ‘what’s been going on with me’ with the longer blonde is astonishing - you look amazing - going to buy the book to see how you got those shoulders and arms - good for you!

Leza Hardy: Love your hair dark! Stunning! Also, your coloring along with your set colors (walls, flowers etc) are sooo pretty and soothing. Thank you for sharing another great video!

Malu Santos: I have always thought that you look so beautiful in dark, short hair. Thank you for showing us how to style short hair. Keep well!

Thea Tester: I've had a Dyson hairdryer for a couple of years now and it's a total game changer. So quick and the same results but much lower temperatures so better for your hair. My hair condition has improved dramatically since I got mine. Love it. Thanks again for sharing how versatile and glam short hair can be.

Michelle Bailey: Another great hair tutorial Dominique! Love how your hair style and color changes! I recently chopped my hair off for the summer because I just didn’t want to blow dry it anymore….truly style and go!

Susan Chaney: Great video ! Love your style ! I have a pixie and will def try some of these tips! Have a great day and thank you for what you do !

nurshark05: Absolutely love the short, dark hair. It really brings out your eyes. Thanks for sharing this! Great look!

Beth Holmes: I am soooooo thrilled with this video!!! I adore the cut and the style how-to is so helpful!! Keep the hair tutorials coming!! Xoxo

Liz Hager: Thanks for the blow drying tips. I have a similar haircut and you gave me some new ideas. I am retired and love a pixie cut because it is fast and easy to take care of.

Judy Jeffries Corbutt: Love the video. Great look and the cut is awesome. I have always had short hair. Sometime medium length but I love the short hair. It's fun to work with. Thanks for the product information and I will definitely check them out. God bless you and your family an Oscar too !!

Kacye Leightly: Girl you are an inspiration to so many. I love your honesty and the kindness you show to others, so beautiful inside and out. You do such a great job with your hair, and that’s coming from a hairstylist of 27 years! I’d love to see a video of what your favorite philanthropy and your ideas on the best way we can give back to our community. My favorite is probably helping victims of domestic violence, but there are so many things out there to consider. Let me know what you think, and thanks again for the inspiration.

Susan Zumback: Joining the pixie club and loving it,thank you for paving the way-this look on you is def my fav,you are radiant.

Cathy Ols: LOVE this tutorial! Would love for you to show this style in a 360 sequence, so that I can show my stylist. I tried to screen shot this as you were working☺️

Liz Garcia: Love short hair, such a professional look. Looks fabulous on you

Alice: Happy Thursday Dominique! I have enjoyed this video so much as I love the pixie cut and I have always loved your hair and how you wear it. It always look great no matter what color you use. I wore my hair in the pixie style before I began to wear wigs but find it easy to go back whenever I wish to do so. Thank you so much and have a wonderful weekend Dominique. See you next Thursday.

Trina Kuhnz: Would you ever consider showing a curly hair tutorial, please? You do many blowouts (which are awesome and full of great tips) it's just that maybe there are others who prefer curly too! In summer, it's so humid and hard to fight the moisture. I have similar hair texture to yours. Thanks for considering, Dominique!!

Mariolina Boccamazzo: Your hair tutorials are always a new lesson in hair care and hair style technique (btw you never use huge quantities as influencers like to do on social media) I appreciate a lot what you share with your community Big hug from Italy

Jax Storey: Thank you so much, dear Dominque. I had a similar cut 2 cuts ago, but it was high maintenance, and so in the end I've gone back to my curly look (which you can see in my avatar there) and wanting it to grow longer. You've inspired me to say 'pixie cut' to my hairstylist and I can show him some screenshots I grabbed. You look stunning at any point that I grabbed a shot, by the way! You're just gorgeous inside and out. Thanks for all that you bring to us. Blessings Jacqueline from New Zealand

Mary Fedyshyn: Thank you as a stylist … I thought I was losing my touch . This was the boost I needed

sandra miller: Love all the different styles and colors you play with. It takes a certain amount of courage to do this! I live the pixie on you! I’ll try it next haircut. I have very thick hair so I hope it works. I always say my hair is like a chia pet; I need another cut as I leave the salon. Thank you for inspiring us to celebrate life. Sandra

Lee Veal: You are terrific! I also love my short dark hair. Thank you for helping me to up my styling game! Much love!

Lisa Macdonald: This is your best hair tutorial yet! Thank you for really breaking it down! Have an awesome weekend!

Constanze Bonelli: Beautiful cut. Beautiful color. Great styling technique and much nicer background then before! ❤️

Wendie Wegner: Just had my hair cut into a pixie. Loved this vlog for some stying info. I usually don’t like my hair until about 2 weeks after I have it cut so I’m still in that stage of fighting with it right now. My hair is curly so you know what I mean. You were very helpful. Have a great day!

Yvonne Ramirez: You are so gorgeous. I wish I had the nerve to cut my hair into a pixie. I'm going shorter, little by little with my 3 hairs. I absolutely love how it looks like you

I love my Dyson and am curious as to what heat and air flow settings you’re using for this style. Thanks so much for the informative and inspirational content!

Kathy Bondi: I LOVED this video. I’m slowly moving toward a shorter style. It’s got to have the right color, the right texturizing and yet not giving me a masculine look, if that makes sense… your Color is beautiful; I have followed you long enough to remember the journey but this current Color is YOU and just gorgeous! I’m going to save up for the Dyson. Thanks

Cheryl Desmond: I love pixies! Looks great! Thank you again for taking time out of your day to do this informative video.

Erin Praefke: Loved this video. I just cut my hair short, pixieish, a couple of months ago. I am 63 and I love short hair on older women. My mom had short hair and she always looked great. It can be so chic and sophisticated, and I have always thought it made a woman look younger, not older, in my opinion. Thanks!!

Anne Nishioka: Love your new hair style! Thank you for sharing today's tutorial on styling short hair. My hair is straight, just above the shoulder and course that it takes a curling iron to stlye it once it is brushed with a blow dryer to put some curl in it. I have been curling it like the tutorial you did for the beachy wave look you did last summer.

Cheryl Jones: Great job Dominique.... You styled your hair in such a beautiful way!! Thinking about going for a short look now.... My new auburn color is a hit! Thank God my hair colors well.

Judith Mercado: I really needed to see this!! Had to cut my hair due to covid hair loss and have been worried that it ages me as it's been growing back in! Thank you for sharing and showing that short doesn't equal matronly!!

Frannie Vanselow: WOW! YES! You picked just what I wanted this week! Always Love and share your AMAZING Tips Suggestions! When You went back and got your sides shorter...SO DID I !!! For Vacation too! I've been wondering how you got the Bump up in the front top without Curling it! I'll try it! Love how You customize for my straight hair too! Love Ya DYou're Truly the BEST!

jsb2801: Thursday night, glass of wine and a fun tutorial! I had grown my hair out for my son's wedding, cut it "shorter" but pixie here I come! Love the hair color - can you share? Salon brand/color #/name? Love it!

Eleanor Rodway: I love your hair styling videos especially as I’m always toying with the idea of an edgy short cut. If you have any other style ideas for your pixie cut I’d love to see more! I was sad you didn’t say your famous “a little dab’ll do ya” haha!! Maybe next time? Xxxx

Miglena Ruseva: I am so happy about this video. I was inspired by you ( as always ) and cut my hair like you. I had already the same colour. Regards from Bulgaria.
