Hey everybody welcome to episode 4 of tutorial Tuesdays. I can't believe it's been four weeks already and I'm really encouraged by all the sweet comments that you all have left me about the videos and I'm glad you're watching and getting something out of it and and implementing some of the tips and tricks into your everyday Life, thank you to Kaylee Schwab for suggesting today's tutorial. It is a hair demonstration on how to do the rocker Pony that you all may have seen me wear during my gigs with the respectable's, and I'm super excited to show you how to do that today. So the first thing you need is a hair straightener. The second thing you need is two ponytail holders. I just tied those together. They don't have to be tied together, two ponytail holders, a few bobby pins, a teasing comb and a hair brush. So let's get started so my hair was watched a couple days ago and I haven't done anything to it except brush it out. So it's got some kinks and stuff. You know throughout it's not perfectly straight: it's not curly, it's just kind of whatever. So all I'm gon na do with this straightener, because I like a textured ponytail, I like for it to look a little disheveled. Is I'm just gon na straighten the top of my hair so that there aren't any kinks so that it doesn't have like a part? That'S trying to go one way or the other, so I'm gon na do that now. I'M just gon na take like this top section and small sections is the key here, I'm going to take the straightener and then I'm just gon na turn. It that way to kind of give it some lift at the root so notice, I'm not just straightening straight up, I'm turning it and giving it some lift. And then I'm gon na go back one section further lifting at the roots and again this is just to make sure that there aren't any funky bumps or kinks or parts trying to happen in this top part, because this is where we're going to be giving all The volume and the teasing too so we want to make sure that it's right before we start okay, so that is good to go. So I'm just gon na brush this back, so you can see already it's kind of gotten a little more calm than it was when we first started now. What I'm gon na do first, is I'm gon na take my fingernails and just separate this first section again. You want to kind of take like this is about an inch or two fingers width of hair and then just go from the top of your head. So like where your hair starts to turn down just take the very top part hold it straight up. Take your teasing comb and then just start about an inch, an inch and a half up from the root and then just start back coming and the key to this look is there's no such thing as too much tease. You can always brush it out, but it's really hard to get more in. So, as you can see, this is a lot of tease, but that's okay! That'S what we want, so I'm gon na spray this with hairspray and leave it forward. Sorry I was trying to bat away hair spray from this camera lens. Okay. So now I'm gon na take another section equally as wide about two fingers. Width keep going back across the top of my head and I'm going to do the same exact thing. I'M going to pull this section forward and I'm just gon na start back combing all the way across and then I'm gon na fall forward with that and I'm going to spray it with hairspray. And now I'm just going to take one more little bitty section, probably about a fingers width near the crown of my head and I'm gon na do the same thing, I'm gon na back home. Again we don't want to go too far down the hair shaft. We just want to stay within that inch to inch and a half range to get a really tight tease on our head, we're gon na spray. Let that dry for a couple seconds. Gentle like beautiful, should just go out like this okay. So knowing you want to flip the hair back, oh, we got all the volume, all kinds of volume and you want to take your brush and you want to lightly come starting on the side, and you want to start to smooth that out. We don't want to brush it out or brush it down, but we just want to smooth it out so that you can't see the T's. You just see a nice voluminous bump. So when you have your bump, looking like you want it to then take a ponytail holder, just one I like to put it around my wrist to get it ready and then take your hair away from your ears, just like, if you're forming a load of the Ponytail and then I'll just transferred it into one hand brush up so that you've got a really nice smooth gathering of hair and then start to move that ponytail upwards. So, as you can see, as I'm moving, the hair around my bump is kind of and wonky, and that's okay, because right now what we're focusing on is really smooth and tight sides and bottom, but just keep holding on to that ponytail. Okay. So, for me, it's up here at the crown of my head, where I want it to be so the last step before I put it in the ponytail holder, it's a smooth out the top and the sides, because we want it to be pretty close to what We want it to look like when we secure the ponytail okay, it's pretty close, so I'm going to go ahead and tie the ponytail in and you want to tie it as tight as you can and then I'm just gon na kind of split, my hair and Tug on the inside of my ponytail holder to pull that ponytail as tight as I can to the crown of my head and I'm gon na, take ponytail holder number two and just tie it up with the other one to have our ponytail being more secure. So that that ensures it doesn't fall throughout the night and then I'm just taking two sections and pulling like that and then pulling on the middle section just to anchor that ponytail next to my head. Okay, so, as you can see, we still kind of have some unevenness here, so I'm gon na take, what's called the rat tail of my teasing comb and I'm just gon na kind of go in the area that I want to lift and just gently lift that Area, I also just want to make sure that this ponytail is as high as I want it to be. So I'm gon na keep pulling on that ponytail. I'M gon na take my rat tail. I'M gon na pull out this hair over here. I'M gon na pull out some hair on the front because I like to have a lot of volume up towards my face. You can even take your finger or a makeup brush if you don't have a teasing comb specifically, if you just have a regular comb. Anything long and skinny will do to pull some of that hair out. So what I'm doing now is I'm just kind of smoothing everything down again. This is a rocker Pony, so it doesn't have to be exactly smooth, but we just don't want that T's to show through because nobody needs to know whether or not that's your hair or if it's a bump it or whatever. They just know that it's a really nice, the luminize ponytail, also known as a rocker ponytail. Once you get that the way you like it spray it down with hairspray, let that dry and then go underneath your ponytail see how I've got my ponytail lifted up right here. So take a little bitty section underneath that's hidden, separate that out from the ponytail and then just start to wrap, see if you can see that wrap those ponytail holders with that hair and that will just give your ponytail a much more professional look and how you Secure that is, here's the end of that piece of hair. That'S wrapped around it and you just take a bobby pin and you just pin that right in. I always like to do two or three for good measure, and then I like to do one going. The other way just make sure those don't pop out, and then I like to lift my ponytail and spray that underneath now, so you can tell our ponytails a little a little limp. So I like for it to have a lot of volume and kind of come down to a point. So the way I do that is, I take my rat tail and I separate out most of the ponytail. You can see, there's still a little bit less, but I'm just gon na separate it out not going to brush it out or anything, but I'm going to then just start teasing the hair. Just tease it tease, it tease it again. We can always smooth it out and brush it down. So then, when you've got your teased hair going on you just kind of want to spray it, and this is freeze - it hairspray that I'm using by the way this stuff is amazing and that you can buy it for like six dollars at Walmart. So then, take your brush and just kind of brush out the sides really lightly, because you don't want to pull your ponytail down and you also want to keep that volume without the tease specifically being exposed. I like to brush that so, as you can see, I've got a nice bump in my ponytail. It comes down to a point see how the other side's looking the other side needs to be snipped out a little bit okay. So when your ponytail is looking like how you want it to look, you just spray it down, and this frees it stuff does not let your hair go anywhere. So if you spray it with Freeza, you can be rest assured it's not going so then, when you're super happy with your hair, all the way around just get a good spray and you'll be good to go. So this is my rocker Pony. If you have any questions about how I did this techniques, if your hair is different from mine, how can you modify it to fit your own hair feel free to leave me a comment or send me a message on it be happy to get back to yet See you next week,

Nicole Reynolds Davidson: This is fantastic! My hair is very fine and poker straight so I can't wait to try this pony.

Dani Devers: Love this! Can you do a tutorial on teasing your hair if you're going to wear it down? Mine isn't long enough for a pony! :)

Dr. Dia Burisly: I love the hair style! will try out your technique for sure! xx

Grace Smith: LOVE IT! Great look and very handy for a medical lab technician who can't stand hair on her face. I always wear a ponytail to work, but it looked so frumpy and flat. I'll definitely use this every night! Thank You!!!

Jeni YH: Love this! Definitely gonna try this out!

Lindsay M.: This was SUPER helpful!!! I have to do a 50's greaser costume for school and the hair is just wild. I just have one issue though. You see, my hair is probably 3 to 4 times the length of yours and keeping it up and separated is a huge hassle due to the length and weight. Any tips on keeping my hair separated?

Hollie Holt: Great tutorial! Can't wait to try this.

Savannah Parkinson: Thanks! Love you channel. Very helpful!!!

MHD Beauty: Danielle - I definitely have on the books to do a teasing tutorial!

MHD Beauty: Candace - If your hair is fine and limp I would suggest trying a volumizing shampoo & conditioner. Then, I would try Tresemme's fresh start dry shampoo and/or Big Sexy Hair's powder play volumizing powder. Put both on the roots and massage into your hair. Now, this is all if you do not care to actually tease your hair to give it some volume. I would suggest teasing/spraying the tease and brushing it out to help your volume last all day.

Stefany Dower: thank you for the tutorial...can I please ask you, are they are your natural lashes?

JM.: BEAUTIFUL

Candace Williamson: My hair is super fine. Any tips for adding volume on a regular basis?
