Hi everyone great to see you've recently, someone mentioned to me that I'll probably look a bit older with my hair up in a messy bun. Now this is something I've been wearing for a long time. My messy buns are wearing my hair up. I always thought that there was a chance that it made me look a little bit older than what I am, but I wasn't sure I didn't really ask anybody. I didn't want to check, because I didn't really care that much. I thought if it does. Well, I don't know if I want to change it, because I like wearing my hair up, I'm going to show you a few styles with my hair down as I've been wearing. It lately straightened with a little bit of wave in the front I'll show you the same outfits with my hair up in a messy bun, and you can decide granted in Years Gone by when I was a young girl and mature ladies wore their hair out. In a bun, we did think of it as a granny bun, I did think of it as a style for older women that when they got to a certain age and they didn't want to cut their hair off short, in fact, there was a time in history Where women didn't cut their hair off short because they got older, but they did frequently wear it up in a bun. If you would have asked me when I was a teenager, and probably in my 20s as well, and maybe even my 30s to mature women look older when they wear their hair up, I probably would have said yes as a society. Have we broken away from the idea that mature ladies, when they wear their hair up in a bun, makes them look like a girl? Have we moved on from that idea and granted? I do believe it's how you wear your messy bun or how you wear your hair up and you're up to and how you style it as well, and some women just love that beehive look from the 50s, but they kept wearing it. They kept wearing that 1950s. Beehive look when they were over 50 and over 60 and onwards. If that beehive, look as you get mature is a bit of a signature. Look one politician in particular in Australia, stands out with wearing that beehive look into mature age and she's kind of a little bit famous for it, but not in a good way and when you wear it in a conservative Style with your pearls and your Tweeds and Your conservative look, I do think that look can be particularly aging. I do actually think when I wear my hair up, even when I think I've got it styled. I do think I might look a little bit older or I could sometimes, but I really like wearing it up. Do I care enough, I'm not so sure at this stage we've moved forward. We don't have to adhere to what we have been told for many. Many decades how we should wear our hair or how we should dress as well. I wear my hair up in a casual wear when I want to be quite casual, in fact, super casual, and I also wear my hair up in a smart casual way when I'm dressing in a smart casual outfit, and I also wear my hair up occasionally to Go out, I love wearing my hair up in a messy bun. When I go out because I get to wear my gorgeous earring, I have lots of costume jewelry earrings. I'Ve got a whole collection of them. One of the reasons I love wearing earrings so much - and I wear my hair up to wear all of these earrings because I have quite a lot of hair. I have fine hair, but it's thick hair and when I put these earrings on the ones that I like to show off a little bit more, you can't see them. They get lost in my hair. But when I put my hair up, you cannotice the earrings. So I think one of the reasons I like wearing earrings, so much is for a long time I couldn't wear earrings. I was allergic to the metals. If they weren't absolutely gold, I would get allergies to the metal anywhere that they rubbed on my skin. I would get contact dermatitis, but I had a lot of trouble with infections in my ears, so I just let them close over. I let the holes close over then many years later I decided to revisit earrings I thought well, who knows? Maybe the allergy has gone away and it did. I got my ears pierced and found I could wear any earring possible, so I went for it. Those costume jewelry stores became extremely attractive to me. I think adding a pair of interesting dressy statement. Earrings can really Elevate any outfit. Some women just look better with their hair up. They really do they look better with their hair up. I had some of you tell me that in my videos, that you prefer me with my hair up, I don't want to wear it up all the time. That'S one of the benefits of having longer hair. You can change the Styles around and I wear ponytails a lot. I'Ve mentioned that these controversial hair topics that I do really aren't about me, they're, not about myself and my hair. It'S really about society's perception of what mature women should look like, particularly with their hair. That seems to be a real Focus Point: how mature women should wear their hair? There'S lots of rules and suggestions about how mature women should dress, but the hair. That'S a real big one. I don't know where all these ideas came from and they are personal perception. In my opinion, it's simply personal perception. I have done other controversial hair videos. One of them was does long hair age me. Do I look older with long hair that was very well received and there's many many comments and everyone chimed in and gave their opinion, which was fantastic, and I also did another video on. Am I too old to wear my hair in a ponytail, and this applies to all of it's? Not just me and lots of you said you love wearing your hair in a ponytail, those that have medium or longer hair, and it isn't just for younger women, which a lot of us perceived, that it is a ponytail, is kind of Linked In some ways with Younger women, so what I'm going to do is link those two videos for you somehow somewhere. Definitely in the description box, I know how to do that I'll, try and put at least one, if not both of those videos. At the end of my video wearing my hair up in a bonus, what I do a lot when I'm at home - and I don't do anything sophisticated at all - all I do is just pretty much just put my hair up in the top of my head and Put a couple of these clips in these plastic Clips, I find these really great for holding my hair in that's all. I do it's not a style, it's just putting my hair up and I will admit without makeup and just a bit of lip gloss, because I often wear lip gloss at home. I don't look so sophisticated. I don't look that elegant. I know that I probably do look a bit granny style with my hair up like this, when I go to the beach, whether it be for a walk or a swim, there's nothing glamorous about the way. I look. I put my big oversized shirt on my beach shirt, 100 cotton Beach shirt and I pinned my hair up. Sometimes I don't even use a brush for a cone. This is how it pretty much goes like this and I just wrap it around any way. I can no thought in it because I don't really care it's all about just getting my hair up, it's not about looking stylish or glamorous. It'S really just about getting my hair up, there's enough to the beach messy bun updo, whatever it's not even a style. Really it's just putting my hair up and the hat goes over. The top of the bun keeps it all in place. Actually, I've included a couple of black evening dresses to show you when I put my hair up, how I can wear my earrings with an evening. Dress because I've got some very dressy earrings. I don't have a lot of occasions to wear these earrings, but even when it's just semi-dressy, even if they're to dinner, it's not a classy restaurant I'll, wear my hair up, so I can just wear. My earring gives me an opportunity to dress up a little bit, and I think, wearing a pair of earrings is a great way to do that without going over the top with your outfit just putting on a pair of dressy earrings can elevate your outfit about the Stress online some time ago, and when I tried it on, I realized it really accentuated my thighs and my hips, because it is a little bit bigger, hugging, it's quite bigger hugging, actually at least in the skirt part, because I'm pear-shaped, I'm a little bit hippylicious you've Heard of bootylicious, I'm hippylicious not that that's always a bad thing. I like this dress because it came with a self belt with a round Pearl Buckle, it's just little tiny pearls all around the center here of the Buckle, and I absolutely love wearing pearls with black pearls. Have the feminine soft look or black. It isn't really what we call a feminine soft color, although it's incredibly stylish, of course, I think the two together and they're so stylish, both of them are pearls and black, both stylish put them together, beautiful combination. I think the fun thing about this dress and I'll show you I can hoist it over and make it look a little bit shorter, make it into a more of a midi length, and it doesn't look so hippilicious on me. It doesn't show up my thighs and my hips, so much so I'll, just pull it up like this. It'S easy to work with stretch fabric. As you can see, the dress is sitting a bit below my knee now, a few inches below my knee, and it's not showing up my thighs near as much so. It probably looks better at this length, I would say, but it does have a texture through the stretch. So it's not that kind of stretchy, where it's going to show up all your panty lines and show up all your lines. I don't even have to wear shapewear with this one, which makes me happy

Jeff Jones: You are so beautiful and your styles are fabulous! Both ways, your hair looks great! It does not make you look older either way! Women of any age should be so lucky as to look as good as you!

Sandy B: I love your hair up, but equally when it's down. I just think it's great your hair is so thick you are able to be so versatile, and why not! xx

Ozark Belle: I love this topic! You look gorgeous both ways, not older in either case, but with your hair up you look very glamorous which is a great look for those black dresses or any outfit really.

Donna Walmsley, Work your Wardrobe, Style over 40!: Hehehe! I am an old duck so don’t care if I look like one lol! I think you look great either way - fabulous figure and always a cutie! Fun video, Shelly! Have a great week! Donna ‍♀️❤️

Frances Joubert: I love the depth of your videos! Societal perceptions be damned! As older women, we will do what pleases us!

Joli Natural Skin Care: I'm the same with earrings, I made my own hooks so I can attach earrings to my gold sleepers. I''m told I look better with my hair down, yet I always have a messy bun because I like my hair out of the way. How you have your bun looks beautiful!

Marjorie Burnett: This was fun. I love your hair both ways. XoxoMarjorie ❤️

Suzanne Dexheimer: Hi Michelle! You are a beautiful woman and I think you look great either way... your hair up or down! ❤ I love your long hair and I love when you put your hair up in a bun and have the soft tendrils of hair framing your face I believe all ages are beautiful and you don't have to be young to be beautiful you are lovely and elegant and have a lovely face and smile By the way I've noticed since I've gotten older My face instantly looks younger and effervescent when I smile However we don't have to go around smiling every minute Great video and I am with you on all points you mention. you look fabulous with your hair up in a black dress with long earrings I love that look too my dear

Beauty By Dez: OMG I can so relate! I also was allergic to costume jewellery but when they removed the nickel I was/am fine now. I also do a topnot at home. I have much finer hair than yours, sadly so messy bun doesn't really work on me.

Donna Atiga: I think a messy bun makes you look sophisticated. I wear my hair down in winter, but in summer I use claw clips to keep my hair up.

Kimmie Twining: You don't look older with your hair up. You look pretty either way. ♥️

Lilygirl283: I think really long hair can make you look older, but it still depends on the person, one looks older while the other of the same age looks great...

Christine Dean: I agree Michelle , all depends on how you style it and what you are wearing , I like messy with good clothing [ dressed up ] . down it gets in the way.

Grace Chan: Take care Michelle and thank you for sharing ❤

Age Is Just A Number by Barbara Jean: I think it's all in how you wear it either up or down.

ZD Lifestyle: You look beautiful in both. X

Sherman, Brenda Oraas: Your messy bun looks great.

TJ Sims: With your hair up... it does give you a more "sophisticated " look..... plus I like you to pull your hair up when you are modeling the clothes... your hair seems to cover the look up.. in my opinion.

Sherman, Brenda Oraas: When you dress up, your hair up looks best.

Grace Chan: I love your hair both ways Michelle That black dress with the pearl buckle looks great on you no matter how u wear I love your style too
