Hey guys, what is up, welcome or welcome back to my channel, my name is jade, definitely make sure you are subscribed. So today i'm going to show you guys how i got this five dollar braided ponytail. This ponytail is super beginner friendly and easy to do, and i'm also going to show you guys how i got these fluffy soft baby hairs stick around and see how i achieved it. So this is what we're looking like. Ladies and gentlemen, i am going to show you all the tools i'm going to be using starting off with this little mini flat iron. This green edge booster, because this one is so good. It has a great hold and it doesn't leave my hair white. Some got to be freeze spray, because what is a ponytail without got to be some combs, and i just have these two, because that's what i had on hand a little edge brush to do our edges, some black rubber bands, because these are going to help us Lock the ponytail in so it doesn't unravel, and then my candy dandy, black hair tie. These hair ties are really great for people like myself, who have naturally thick coarse hair. I have natural hair and these scrunchies never break they never pop. They don't snag my hair they're, really amazing and i got them off of amazon, so i just took my ponytail down and now i'm just finger combing, my hair. This is the braiding hair that i'm going to be using. I thought i showed you guys in the beginning, but oops i didn't this is the hair i like to use. It'S super easy to manage and it doesn't get super tangled, which i really really love. Now, i'm just going in with the mini flat iron and straightening. My edges a little bit because i want this ponytail because i want this ponytail to be sleek and i don't want it to be, like you know, bumpy lumpy, and all of that, because i'm not going to be using a whole lot of product in my hair. So i'm just going around and straightening the perimeter just a tiny bit on low heat, and i love this tiny little flat iron. It gets super super close to the root and it's easy to use. So i love that next, i'm going to start molding, my ponytail. I'M just taking this little comb and not doing it perfectly just doing it kind of messily, because we're going to go back in and make sure everything is secure, i'm just kind of molding where i want it to be in a sense or how high i want It to be, and then i'm just going to put a scrunchie on it to secure it into place for a little bit, then i'm going to go in back with that same comb and start to brush out the baby hairs that i want to leave out. So i took out an excessive amount of baby hairs specifically for this look now on a regular basis. I do not take out this much, maybe here at all, but i thought it'd be really cute to have fluffy, baby, hair and you'll see in the video that i go back in and end up putting a lot of the baby hair back because it was just It was a lot, so i went ahead and mapped out where i want all the baby hairs to be, and this doesn't have to be done in a specific way, just whatever way, you like your baby hairs to look and where you want them to lay. So i spent a decent amount of time doing this, not gon na lie, so i'm also taking some from the back and the sides and just making sure everything like the whole perimeter of my head had some baby's hair hairs to play with just to kind of Make this ponytail look a little bit more fluffy lived in and messy. So now we're going to go in with my handy dandy, mary's beeswax! I don't use a lot of this stuff, because a little bit goes a long way and i'm just going to melt it between my hands and apply it to the center, where we're going to have the actual ponytail at this is going to help everything stay into Place and make sure you don't have um any flyaways and everything just looks really smooth and seamless. So now, i'm just taking out a little bit more baby hair because i pushed some of it up when i was putting the wax on. So i wanted to make sure i had an even amount all around the perimeter. Now i'm just using the comb to really mold my ponytail and make sure that beeswax is melted into my hair. We are going to use a brush, but you know i'm trying to be perfectionist and i want this ponytail to be extra smooth and just look really really flawless. So now i'm going in with my brush and i'm going to just brush the ponytail up as high as i want it to go, and i was having some technical difficulties. My arms were hurting ciao. Okay, ponytails are very dangerous. It'S a great workout! Then i went in with some of my got to be free spray and i just sprayed the perimeter of my hair and then this is going to help to make sure everything is molded into place. So once you get your ponytail up, it doesn't move and then i'm going to just brush it and secure it again with the same hair. Tie. Take your time with this because you want it to be smooth as possible and you guys can just watch me mold. My ponytail into place so now it is time to attach the braiding hair to our natural hair. So this is what the hair looks like. I wish i had another bundle because i wanted it to be a little bit thicker, but i didn't so it's okay, i'm just going to take the base of the braiding hair and wrap it around my natural hair. So hopefully i can explain this well because i don't know, let's see how good i am, then i divide my natural hair into three sections like we're going to do a three strand braid and then i go ahead and i'm going to do the exact same thing To the braiding hair, just divide it into three equal sections and then attach it to the three sections of my natural hair. If that makes sense, and then i also have to take out a tiny little section for the wrap around part of the ponytail, so the braiding hair is actually going to have three big sections and one small section. Then i'm going to begin braiding, my hair, which my natural hair into the braiding hair. So that's why we made essentially six sections, so each part of my natural hair had a section of braiding hair. If that makes sense, so i'm trying to turn around to show you guys how i braid and the key for me to get my ponytail to look super natural and even and smooth all the way down is to make sure that i keep my arms. In the same direction, all the way down to the bottom of the hair, when i get towards the bottom, i'm not gon na lie to you. I don't really care as much but the top and the base of the ponytail. I want my hair to be as smooth and like seamless as possible, so i make sure to keep my arms up in this direction, braiding downward, if that makes sense, so i'm just gon na braid, my hair braid, my hair and my arms were killing me, not Gon na lie so, as i'm braiding i like to braid and comb through with my nails, just to make sure everything is smooth and there's no lumps and bumps in my ponytail. So now i'm turning around and you can see in my face. I was stressed my arms were hurting so bad. That'S the only thing about braiding in the same direction. All the way down is making sure that to make sure that it's even you have to like, keep your arms up for a substantial amount of time. So i just continued to do this until i got like towards the bottom - and i was like you know what i'm so we are finally getting to the bottom of the ponytail and once i get to the bottom, i don't really care anymore. I feel like the hair gets done anyway, and i'm just going to secure that with one of the black rubber bands, that's to make sure that the braid doesn't unravel and it stays braided the entire day or for. However long you have the hair up, then i spray some hairspray on the base of my ponytail to smooth down any of the flyaways just to help make sure that the ponytail is extra sleek. Then we're going to take that thin piece of hair that we took out in the beginning and use that to wrap around the base of the ponytail. This is going to make your ponytail look more polished and clean, and just overall, more neat and sleek. So you just wrap this around until the hair is wrapped completely under the ponytail, and if the hair starts to get a little frizzy just use a brush to brush out any of the kinks and that's going to help it stay smooth and make it look. Really. Professional, so now i'm going to go in with a little bit more hairspray to lock that into place, because i didn't want to use a bobby pin because i feel like sometimes bobby pins can be seen through the ponytail, and i don't like that. So i just used a little bit of hairspray and it seems to do the job for me. I don't really have any problems with it. So now we're going to go back in and we're going to start curling the baby hairs towards our face. This is going to really help your baby hairs. Get that super soft fluffy look right now. It looks crazy and looks like i have a little mushroom going on around the front part of my head. It looks a mess but trust the process. I promise it's going to turn out super cute, so continue to curl your baby hairs toward your face. This is going to make them have that cute little curl at the end - and i do this all around the perimeter of my head. So, wherever we left out any baby hairs, i'm going to go ahead and curl it and make sure everything is going in the same direction, which i want it going towards my face. Okay, so after i finished curling my hair, i wanted to start laying down my edges and i used that same little edge brush that i showed you guys, along with the same edge booster, the green one, and you only need a tiny tiny little bit, and this Is the moment that i knew i was like okay, you, oh deed, with these baby hairs like you, took a lot of hair out like you took a lot, so i was like. Oh my god like i have to get rid of some of this. So what i did was eventually i went ahead and put some of the hair back into the ponytail. This was just too much and i was like. Oh my god like this is not no. This is not cute, okay, so boom. I put those baby hairs back because it was just too much. I kept someone some of them out on the side and then i just begin to mold my baby hairs in the direction that i like them to go. I do my baby hairs. The way that i like them, you don't have to do them this way, but this is just what i like to do. I use the tiniest amount of edge booster because my hair doesn't need a lot for my hair to lay down and i'm going to. Let you guys know now: baby hairs is like a really tedious process, because everybody likes them a different way, so i just work on them until i like the shape and the swoop that i get so i wanted them to be very fluffy. I didn't want them to look like they were glued down to my head um, so i wanted them to have a nice little hole to them, but i also wanted them to be like kind of wispy and fluffy toward the end. So some pieces had to be re-curled just because, once i put my other the extra hair back, i kind of combed out the curl a little bit, so it didn't last the way that i wanted it to. But it's okay, i mean i use heat protectant and i don't really straighten my hair often so i'm not too worried about putting heat on my hair for this hairstyle, so i'm going to just continue to swoop and loop and dupe all of these baby hairs, and I left it kind of in real time it's a little sped up, but i wanted to show you guys just how much time i put into my baby hairs to make them look the way that i want them to look just you know to give you guys An idea like more realistic vibe of what goes into my baby hairs. Okay, so back with my handy dandy got to be free spray, i'm just spraying one more good time to make sure everything is laying down. I wanted to make sure the back hairs had a little bit more of a curl, because i felt like they weren't going to as much toward my face as i would like them. I feel like this going in the direction of your face like towards your face, makes the baby hairs, lay really really soft and more natural to me versus going away from the face. So i thought it looked really cute. I was feeling good about it and it just looks very effortless and messy and like cute, but still put together at the same time. So i love the way this turned out. I went ahead and got my silk scarf and i got this off of amazon and i actually really like these scarves. They stay on my head and they're, actually really pretty so. I'M gon na go ahead and tie my hair down just for, like 10 15 minutes to lock everything into place and really make sure i have no flyaways and everything is locked and ready to go. So here is what my hair looks like. I think it turned out super super cute. I definitely will be doing this hairstyle again, but the next time i do it. I want to add more hair and make it really really long, thick and full and then with the baby hairs. I think it would be it'll, be a look for sure so give this video a thumbs up.
