Hi guys welcome back to my channel. It is your girl, tempress, and i hope, since the last time, you've seen me, you all have stayed beautiful. So today i have a hair tutorial for you. This is the 90s style inspired barbie ponytail and if you are interested in seeing how i achieve this look on my natural hair, i hope that you continue to watch for everybody. That is a returning subscriber, hi, hello and happy new years, and anybody that is new. Please hit that subscribe button below because i have a whole lot more of content for you. Thank you guys. Let'S get straight into the video, so starting out we're going to go ahead and part out our edges. My edges have sweated out. This is an old silk press. If you watched my silk press tutorial from before. Thank you so much that video is doing well, but my silk press is now old, so i need to just go over my edges. I put my flat irons on 310 and i'm just going to press out the front of my hair, just the perimeter of my hair. While i'm pressing out my hair, i'm pulling the flat iron in the direction that i intend my hair to go. So i'm pulling it backwards like towards the back of my head, because that's the way i want the hair to fall when i put it in my ponytail, so i just sped up the clip. So that way we all don't get bored because i'm quite sure we all know how to flat iron the front of our hair. But if you do not, you just want to make sure you do you take these steps so after that i'm taking a wig brush a ring brush whatever you call it and i'm gathering all of my hair together, because i'm going to flip my hair over and I need to get the nape of my hair because that has also sweated out and i stopped wrapping my hair. So these parts of my hair have gotten back thick and they're kind of reverting back to my natural curl pattern. So i'm just going to go ahead and part out the back of my hair that i need to press out that i need as flat as possible because we're not trying to do a whole nother, silk press we're just trying to get the parts that need to Be flat and seamless and again i'm just taking a flat iron and i'm pulling the hair up in the direction that i want my hair to go so now with that wig brush we're going to collect all of our hair together and we're going to take our Smoothing brush to make sure our hair is laying down, and here we're just making a look, a very loose ponytail, because this is just for molding, our hair, it's not the last resort and i'm using beeswax to actually mold my hair, because i don't want my hair To have too much products in it because i'm not done with my hair being straight. So if you want this ponytail look to last a lot longer, you can use got to be glue, gorilla glue, whatever you feel um edge control. You can use those things, but i find beeswax works the best for me, especially if i'm just using doing this hairstyle for a day or two. It provides me with enough hold enough sheen and yeah and remember this is going around our entire head, like you want your ponytail slicked around your entire head, not just the front so once we're done, applying our holding pudding of choice, we're going to go ahead and Take our smoothing brush and go ahead and start to smooth all of the hairs around our head just around the perimeter, because this is what's going to give us that sleek ponytail look and we're not collecting our hair. Yet, to make a tight ponytail we're just making sure everything is just laying down, and now i'm just going to pull my edges out, because you know that just pulls out the look like you got to have your edges. You got to have your baby hair. If you want to, if not you don't have to, but i love to pull my baby hairs out, because it just gives it that barbie doll that dog baby. Look that you know just real cute innocent ponytail vibes. It gives me a valley, girl, ponytail chili, to ponytails. This is like the it girl, ponytail, so yeah, and then we're going to take our wig brush and then collect our hair back up, because this is going to allow our hair to get rid of those clumps. That may be in the middle, and you just want to play with your hair push it from side to side, see which side needs more work and which side is good and laid down flat. So i'm working back and forth between my wig brush and my smoothing brush and later on in the clip you will see that i didn't get the back as flat as possible. So you'll see what i do to fix that so to lay down my edges, i'm going to use gorilla glue. This adds extra hold than the beeswax. The beeswax is kind of greasy a little bit, i would say so. The gorilla glue is something that will keep my baby hairs in place. If i want to wear this ponytail for two days three days, this is what will give it that extra hold and i'm sure you all have seen how you swoop out your baby hair. So i just kind of spread pass through this and there it is it's kind of lumpy in the back. So we need to go back in with that wig brush to kind of get those lumps out and then keep going between our wig brush and our smoothing brush to make sure our ponytail and the back of our head is as flat as possible. So once we've got our ponytail as flat as we want it to be we're going to go ahead and tie our scarf around to keep our edges down. This will keep your baby hairs, laid it's going to set them in place. This is like adding setting spray to your makeup. This is the final step for baby hairs. So now i'm just going to go ahead and pour out a small section of my hair kind of like a medium section, because i don't want small small curls, but i don't want them too big. I want it to be. I want it to be voluminous. You know i want there to like be different layers, so i'm going to take out medium sized sections and i just clipped my hair to my scarf and not to the rest of my hair, because we don't want that issue of the back of our hair being Pulled and i'm taking my flat iron and the flat iron is still on 310 and i'm curling my hair toward my face. Instead of curling it under hand, i'm curling it overhand, because when we flip our ponytail over, we want it to be flips and not under curls. If you get what i'm saying, i hope i'm explaining that right, but if not, you can just watch how i do it, so my hair is cut in layers, so this is going to make my hair look even bigger in the ponytail. If your hair is not cut in layers, what you can do is you can curl your hair in different directions to add that volume and you'll still get the same, look and just make sure you take your time with this. So once you look like somebody's mother that just stepped out of a 1992 music video you're going to go ahead and flip your ponytail over and then you will see the product of your hairband and flips and, as you can see, it has like different variations of How high or how low the flip is like it has the what is it um layers in it and we just take our scarf off to expose our baby hairs? If you want your ponytail higher, all you have to do is just pull your ponytail just a little bit tighter. But i love my ponytail here and this is the finished. Look. I absolutely love it like. This is glamour girl, ponytail, like honey. You don't have to put no fake hair on your head to achieve this look. This looks amazing and i got so many compliments on my hair. So this is the finished. Look guys this is going to give you a 90s inspired ponytail.
