How To Do A Sleek Side Swoop High Ponytail

Now for today's video, as y'all could tell by a title, i am coming through with a hair tutorial and, as you guys can tell, i am doing this hairstyle. So, let's get straight into this video hi, so i did flat iron, my hair before the video. That'S off camera, that's optional! You don't have to flat iron, your hair. If you have natural straight hair, natural curly hair. You can choose, however, to do this hairstyle. So, to start off you know me, i just untangle my hair, make sure, there's no knots, no tangles and then with my rat tail comb, i'm going to just part my hair and we are doing a swoop part ponytail. So we're gon na go ahead and just do our swoop first. So what you have to do is just part your hair, as if you were going to do a side, part ponytail, so all i am doing here is i'm going to apply some gel. I got this at the beauty supply store because you guys always ask me where i get my gel from and then i'm just applying it to the part where we're gon na like do the party net. So, as you guys can see, i just applied it in the front section of my hair and then i'm gon na go in with my rat tail comb, i'm going to comb the gel through and i'm just going to make the part neater. For the part you guys are going to want to go ahead and just form a full circle. So, as you guys can see here, i'm just going to part it halfway into a c shape and then, at the end of the c shape, i'm just going to form it into a full circle and then we're just gon na apply some gel to make sure. No hairs get in the way and we're just gon na tie it off and put it to the side. Now we're not gon na worry about this um until the end, so, which is why we're just gon na tie it off with a rubber band and now what we're gon na focus on is forming our ponytail. So the rest of the hair we're just going to form into a high ponytail, and i want to make sure you guys know that when forming your ponytail, you guys want to make sure you get the like high look, because sometimes the ponytails could be formed to The back of the head and really low and it'll make the hairstyle look kind of different, so i like to make sure the ponytails are high. So all i do is just apply gel and i do apply a good amount of gel because i, like my hair to be nice and slick and then i'm gon na go in with the gel on the back of my head and then i'm gon na go In with my rat tail comb and just comb everything through and if you guys know me and if you guys been subscribed to me for a while now, you guys know i always use two types of brushes: the rat tail comb and the hard bristle brush. That are my favorite and i feel, like those are the most important brushes to make your hair, nice and slick. So that's all i'm really going to do now. Is i'm just forming the high ponytail you're going to see me just switch off from a rat tail comb to a hard bristle brush and apply gel got to be free spray, and all i'm doing is i'm just trying to make sure my hair? Is nice and slick, and my goal here is to make sure the ponytail is high and not really low in the back of my head? If that makes any sense tip i wanted to share with you guys was. I do tilt my head downwards and i learned that this helps form like any bun hairstyle or any high ponytail hairstyle, anything that you want high and not in the back centered of your head. Anything you want high. It helps when you tilt your head downwards and you start brushing your hair upwards. Now we're just going to finish our ponytail off by tying it and if you guys, always notice on how many rubber bands i use, i do use more than one i use about. Two to three sometimes - and i do that because one rubber band doesn't hold my hair up long enough um throughout the day, i'll start dripping downwards or just give me the loose hair effect, and i don't like that. So the more rubber bands i use the tighter the ponytail is and no my hair does not hurt. I don't recommend this if you're tenderheaded or if you get headaches quickly and you're not used to having your hair tied up, because you will get a headache so i'll just go ahead and stick to the regular. So, as you guys can see now, once i'm done forming the ponytail with the rubber bands in my head and all that i just go in with the hard bristle brush and i just smooth everything out now. Moving on to the section we tied off and put to the side in the beginning of the video we're gon na go ahead and untie that remove the rubber band and comb through it and make sure there's no knots or tangles once we're done. We'Re just gon na use this section to form our swoop, and all you really want to do is just apply some gel all over the section of the hair, and what i like to use is the rat tail comb to make sure the gel is spread out Evenly and then i do notice that the gel doesn't lay the hair down flat. All the way is there is parts that lift up, so what i decided to do is use some edge control. I ordered this edge control from beauty by leiu on instagram. I believe that was her instagram, but it was only ten dollars very affordable and it smells really good. So this is what the packaging looks like the edge looks like and then the edge control is pink and it has like a fruity smell to it. I actually like it so i'm using this edge brush from the beauty, supply store my edge control and i just apply it to the front section of the hair, as you guys can see that front section that i need to lay down and then what i'm going To do is i'm going to use the comb part of the edge brush and just comb it through and start forming my swoop after so many tries and after brushing the hair downwards so many times. I finally got it to look the way i wanted. So now. I'M gon na go in with some bobby pins and i go in with about four or five bobby pins and i just start pinning them to the back of my head and i do show you guys the look at the back. So i know there is some hair tutorials that they don't show you the complete look from like a full 360 look. So that's what i'm going to show you guys here, i'm going to show you guys how it looks after the bobby pins are placed before the bobby pins are placed, and all that just so, you guys can see how the full hair looks and if you guys Want to continue with the hairstyle or, if you're, just wondering and debating, if you want to continue doing this hair or if you want to keep doing this hair after you see the complete look, if that makes any sense, so once i'm done placing the bobby pins Just to let you guys know, there's no certain amount, there's no right way on how to place the bobby pins, it's all just on how you're comfortable and how you want it to look. But after you're done placing the bobby pins you're gon na go in with a hair tie and that last strand of hair you're, just gon na connect it to the ponytail after you're, forming your ponytail and you're done and placing your bobby pins or anything. You could go in with your brush and start smoothing anything outwards. I told you guys. The swoop is the most difficult part for me. It doesn't stay down all the time. So all i did here was just going with the brush and try to smooth everything outwards. If you don't need to do this, if you don't have to this is optional, it's only if you're not satisfied with how the swoop looks. So that's all i'm just doing, and after i'm done and i'm like the way it looks, i just take out a few sideburns and i lay those down and then we're gon na move on to doing our edges before we get into doing our edges. I almost skipped apart so going back to our ponytail, as you guys can see, there is two different lengths from the swoop and the regular ponytail. So all i do is i just grab the shortest length and i wrap it around the rubber band. So my real hair is gon na wrap around the rubber band and just hide it so with that i go in with some got to be free spray and i wrap it around and there's got to be free spray. It'S pretty strong, so i don't need any bobby pins or anything to hold it in place. All i do is just i spray some on the hair and i hold it in place until it's dry and then that's just the complete look and then we can move on to doing our edges. Moving on to doing our edges now, you guys know the regular or, if you don't know the regular, then i'm gon na, let you guys know the regular. All i do is i just comb the hair downwards. I apply some edge control. You can use any edge control that works best for you and then with my edge brush. I do comb downwards and with my other hand, i hold it in place and just start forming a swoop once you've completed these steps. That is all to complete this hair. Look and as you guys can see my side part was lifting up. I did go ahead and correct that off camera. So now i'm just showing you guys a full 360 look.
