Ponytail Hairstyles: Twisted Bun Updo

This hairstyle tutorial shows how to create a twisted bun updo beginning with a simple ponytail. It's quick and easy to create this bun using rope braids (or twist braids)!

This is a clean and simple classic bun hairstyle that can be worn by all ages. The process is simple:

1. Place the hair into a ponytail

2. Texturize the ponytail with the Sam Villa Textur Iron to increase the thickness of your ponytail up to 3 times!

3. Split the ponytail into four even sections

4. Working one section at a time, split a section into two and then twist each of the two strands to the outside and then cross over the top, repeating this until you reach the ends. Secure with an elastic

5. Repeat for the other three sections, splitting the section in two, twisting to the outside, crossing over and repeating to the ends, until you have created four rope twists.

6. Pancake or pull apart each of the twists to create a more organic look.

7. Braid the four rope strands together and then begin to twist the hair into a bun.

8. Secure the bun to the head using hairpins until you create the shape that you desire.

9. Finish with a high-control hairspray to set the style into place.

Hi, my friends Sam via here chin, yawns buns, twists knots, they're all happy now, but let's think make them happen with a different characteristic to it simply going through placing a ponytail we're gon na go four strands: okay, so I'm going to take out one two, three And four: okay: let's start with number one very, very simple once again, just adding characteristic to it: slice it in two and now all we're going to do is we're going to turn and twist to the outside. So we twist to the outside - and I want this to have some imperfection to it - it's about fire on his quest for that perfect, imperfect. If you will so we're gon na go through, we twist to the outside, we're going to take an elastic now and we're gon na come through with the elastic and we'll want to place that at the end, let it come apart, unravel slightly. If it chooses to do so because after we're done creating it we're going to come through and pancake that now, let's go in and repeat the same procedure remember for different sections. This is the second come through slice and twist to the outside twist to the outside. Once we're at the end a matter of elastic going right into that end, now we're going to repeat this same procedure on this third and on working on our last one remember twist to the outside, so you can see how we've established four different coils check this Out watch: let's just pull on these, just pull on them and just pull them. Let them happen and the more you pull on things it. I really believe that sometimes your eyes will see something in terms of characteristic of something, so it almost has a dread feeling to it. But it's dreads that these that are twisted. Okay. What I'm going to do is I'm going to take all four of these and I'm just going to start to just walk them through just like a braid and just bring them together and don't worry about if the about the rhythm that you're creating and now just Come through and once again the idea of a nether shenyang, I'm going to come through catch and go right back in hey. Now I'm going to take this one, I'm going to bring this to the saw at this opposite sign, so we come through it's all about the finish. The means to the ends is leading them out. So it's all about how you choose to finish this we'll take one over here, I'm gon na hide that one! Oh! I like that one so we'll come through remember once you have the technique, it's going to be a matter of your taste in terms of what it is that you see so I'm just grabbing and we'll go with another hair. Pin we're going to continue to work with our hair pins, remembering where we hold is where we pinned see. You know I just kind of move things around and see what it is that I want to see. Let'S enter twist that and pin right here so once again, just simple little things for you to execute at the salon and remember it's all about how you're adding value behind the chair. That'S making a point of difference in terms of standing behind the chair and how you build your relationship with the client. I want to thank you for watching and once again, Sam, via sharing some ideas. We love you keep watching we'll help.
