What is up everyone welcome to how to draw hair in a ponytail. There are essentially three easy steps that we'll go through, so the first step is the head shape, and this is the most important step. If you don't draw the head shape correctly, then drawing the hair on it will be very, very challenging. Learning how to draw in 3d space is really important, so using the head shape to learn that step in the process is a very good idea. So if you haven't learned how to draw the head shape, i would recommend taking time to learn how to draw the head shape at multiple angles. First, i have a free set of worksheets and a tutorial on the site that will be linked in the description that will walk you through the stages of constructing the head and going through that process of learning how to construct a head will help you with everything. In terms of drawing hair and drawing portraits so take time to learn the head shape first and then add hair once you know how to draw the head shape, we move on to step number two, which is drawing the basic shapes of the hairstyle. So first we start with the cap of the hair, is basically the roots of the hair, make sure not to draw it flat with the head. So a big mistake, a lot of beginners make is that they draw hair way too flat. They don't give it enough volume, that's why we want to start with these basic shapes so that we can create volume from the beginning and then start adding in details once you have the shape for the roots of the hair, then start adding in the basic form Of the tail make sure to follow the center line of the head for the placement of the tail. If the head is facing perfectly forward, the tail goes in the middle, but as the head turns, the placement is based on the central line of the head. This is why it's really important to understand how to draw the head first, because the placement of the ponytail will be very challenging if you don't understand how things will be placed in a 3d environment. Now that we have the basic shapes in place. The basic guidelines now we can draw in these specific lines, so the second example is with these specific lines. This is the final step in the process is drawing in these hairlines follow the flow of the hair, so the cap of the hair, the roots, will go back towards the tail and then the tail will come back down so make sure that lines follow the flow Of the hair, those are pretty much all the steps to help you practice. I have a free worksheet on the site that is linked in the description. The one column will be just the basic shapes, the step number two and then on the second column. You'Ll have step number three, so this will help you practice just go over the side, print out the worksheet and then, if you want to practice how to draw the head, the worksheets are also on the site, if you're interested in learning, how to draw there's tons And tons of tutorials for portrait, drawing figure, drawing everything you need it's on the site, there's a bunch of free stuff there that you can check out and if this was of value to you consider, subscribing and following or you can also check out the website, make Sure to sign up for the mail list while you're there, because it's the best way for us to stay in touch, and that's it.
