Hi, I'm Julia and I'm a hairstylist in los angeles, california, and i'm going to be talking to you today about how to do a ponytail for fine hair. So this is Jenna she's my model and she has finer texture hair. Just like a lot of people do so I'm going to demonstrate right here the best way to do a ponytail on this texture hair. So I'm going to start back here right at the crown and using a teasing brush. I'M just going to take a section, doesn't need to be perfect, and then I am using a sort of dust powder that I put an atomizer. I like to spray it right at the root and use this to tease a little bit, and I just go like this. So, as you see, I'm just going section by section from the top to the bottom, just a light mist of that product and a couple T's, and I will pull each section back that I've teased and lightly smooth it down with the brush. This is another reason why I like the teasing brush over the teasing comb, because it's so much easier to smooth down. So you see, you've got the lift right there and it doesn't look harsh or sticky because we didn't use the hairspray. So now it comes down to sort of how you want to personalize it. You can also go through these two front sections and tease, if you like, I think I'm just going to do a couple pieces of it versus going all the way down there. We go we're going to smooth this down. If, for some reason, you have a lot of flyaways, what you can do too is you, can take a flexible hold hairspray, do a light spray on your teasing brush and then smooth it down. That'Ll get some of those flyaways so now we're pretty much ready to do the ponytail I'm going to tuck this behind her ear. Just because that's the style! I want to do do that on the other side flip her, so you can see a little bit better. There'S a couple options when it comes to how you want to attach the ponytail. I just have a colored elastic right here, similar color, her hair, or you can get one of these little bouncy elastic things. I only have this one in black, but you can basically wrap it around the hair, you're - probably going to use this with finer hair. That'S a lot better for thicker hair. So go ahead, pull it down because I've already sort of smoothed it. I don't really need as much of a brush, but if you have some hair popping out, grab your teasing brush and just use it to sort of pull it down, make sure your ponytails, even wherever it's going to be, whether it's at the base of the neck Or a little bit higher so once you've attached the the ponytail with the colored elastic. What I like to do to sort of hide the elastic make it look a little more professional is. I will grab a piece of hair from inside the ponytail and I will sort of wrap it around the elastic and it hides it and then what I do is I take a colored bobby pin same color as the hair sort of clip it on. If you have more flyaways, you can grab a smaller brush, almost like a little toothbrush spray it with the flexible, hold hairspray and use that to pull back these sides. So a small little brush like this is great to do the little detail work around the front as well any of the flyaways there. Once again my name is Julia, and now you know how to do a ponytail for fine hair. You
