The Best Hair Wrapped Ponytail, Easy Hairstyle Tutorial

A unique and "fool proof" method to achieve the perfect hair wrapped ponytail! (No bobby pins required.)
Hey guys! We all love a cute and classic ponytail. And a popular, trendy, and well known "trick" of wrapping hair around the top of the ponytail makes it a much more polished and finished looking hairstyle. This simple technique can take an otherwise lazy or casual ponytail into being fancy enough to wear to a red carpet event, a prom, or a wedding! But, how many of us struggle with wrapping the hair around the ponytail and then getting it to stay? Maybe it is just us, but we don't love the "bobby pin method" as it never holds all of the ends tucked in, the bobby pins end up sliding out... and it can hurt. We have also tried several methods using elastics and topsy tails, but none of them have worked perfectly for us and it usually ends up being a struggle (which kind of defeats the purpose of a seemingly effortless look.) We actually came across the method shown in our hair tutorial today when we filmed our "unicorn hairstyle" a few months ago. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHlYNH...) I'm guessing if you are wanting to do a simple hair wrapped ponytail, you most likely wouldn't think to look for instructions by way of a unicorn hairstyle video lol, so we wanted to make this separate tutorial for you today.
We added a small french braid with the front and top section of her hair before adding it in to the ponytail. We also share a fun "hair hack" by pushing forward on the braid to create extra volume for more of a faux hawk look. (You will want to make your braid slightly loose for optimal results with this hack.) You could also bring her bangs straight back of you wanted, or you could add a pompadour in the front instead if you prefer.
This hairstyle should work with long hair, medium hair, straight hair, curly hair, and wavy hair.

Hey guys today we're going to be showing our favorite way of wrapping hair around the top of a ponytail and basically to do this you're just going to want to section off a piece on each side of her head. You want a section about that big. So I would say just everything kind of above her ear. So if you want, you can just bring all of this hair here in the front straight back into a ponytail while leaving these sides out we're actually going to take this front section here and just make a little French braid and that of course, is optional. So I just went ahead and added a clip to each side of that, so that I don't accidentally add that hair into this braid and then I'm spraying some water. Just so that we don't have flyaways and I'm going to go ahead and make a French braid with this section of hair, all right now that I've braided that back just to the crown of her head, I'm just going to regular break this down a couple of Inches and then just tie it off temporarily. The other thing I'm going to do to help this knot lay so flat is, when I add the ponytail, I'm going to push this braid up in the back a little bit and add it in like that and as you can see, that kind of lifts, the Entire braid, so for now I'm going to take these clips out and I'm going to finish sectioning off these side pieces, I'm just wanting to make sure that this hair in the front stays separate and then I'm going to put the rest of this all into a Ponytail: okay, now that I have that ponytail in place, I'm going to add in this braid and, like I said before, I'm just pushing forward on that so that it lays how I want it to look and then I'm going to add it in with another elastic. For the next step, I'm going to grab the hair that we left out on both sides and I'm going to bring those together right here under this ponytail with another elastic. At this point, we have the main Ponyta on top and then this little ponytail underneath I'm going to take some pomade and add it to this small ponytail and then I'm going to take it and wrap it around the big ponytail when you're putting this small elast Again, you want to make sure that you get it as close to this main ponytail as you can. So if you can see it's right underneath there and then I'm just going to take that hair and wrap it around, you can wrap it once or twice whatever you want to do. I think once it's going to be enough for us and then I'm just going to find the small elastic here and I'm going to bring the end of this ponytail back through with the elastic. So I'm just lifting up one strand of that and putting my two fingers through there and then I'm going to pull the ponytail through. You want this to look. You can spread the hair out if you want it thicker or you can push it together. If you want it more thin, but that is how it ends up looking. I think it's a pretty foolproof method, it's easy and it works for us pretty much every time.
