Colette Green: Hello! I am working on making a messy bun hat for my daughter, using your tutorial. Great job on the instruction. It was very easy to follow. I too did use a bobby pin as a stitch marker. Worked well. Here is my quandary. The circumference of my hat seems to be small and tight. I am at the point of adding another color, so maybe it will seem bigger, once it is longer, but I'm pretty sure it's too small for her head. Is there an easy way to have made this bigger than yours. I don't know do more adding of stitches or something. Its going to be so cute, but not if it doesn't fit. Thanks so much. I look forward to your response. Colette

Carly Johns: For anyone wondering, this pattern works just fine with a smaller hook and yarn. Best results are following it with a doubke crochet, but if you want to use single, you have to create more increase rounds. It does take some eyeballing and measuring to get the size right doing it with the single, but it is possible

I grabbed some yarn with the intent of making this today, but I grabbed a 6/Super Bulky yarn instead of a 5/Bulky, what sort of modifications do you think I should make to make sure it's about the same size as yours? I made this for my great niece who is 10 so I started my 2nd color when at 5.5 inches.Then continued with the color change as directed. I have completed it but it is very small. The inside circumference is only 15.5 inches. I used the same exact yarn as you did. It is adorable but seems to be infant size. Please help!

Kim Ward: I’ve already made one of these by this pattern, and I measured the hat. It measures 16.75” I’m going to venture to say that might be a infant maybe a preemie size hat. It turned out adorable but way too small for my head which measures 23”. I’m still relatively new to crocheting. So I was wondering if you could explain to me how to increase each round to make the hat fit my big head? Or maybe even do a new video showing us how to make a adult size hat? PLEASE!

Nicole: It was a very helpful first timer video. Although I got super confused when increasing the stich to a larger round. I tried slowing down the video but then I get the youtube pause button on my screen and I can't see. I used regular yarn - in the end, my hat was way too small - either I have a big head or too much hair (my husband says too much hair lol) it would have been nice to know if you can increase the loops (from 33) on the start of the elastic to make a bigger size...? My bad - regular yarn leaves too many gaps on the finished product - so I will try again with a thicker fuller yarn or wool. Lots of useful tips
