→18← Easy-Breezy Protective Style For Naturals/Transitioners Using Afro Puff Ponytail

(REUPLOADED due to audio issues)

Hey y'all! I've been doing this style since I started my transition in 2010. You can do it with pretty much any length of hair and it's super quick and cute. Let me know if you have any questions; thanks so much for watching! ♥

Hey y'all, it's curly Kiki here in this video I am between, washes I'm coming out of one protective style and trying to head into another. So what I do is, I start by moisturizing my hair, with my two favorite things: h2o and curl, enhancing smoothie by Shea Moisture. So once my hair is damp and I've run my smoothie through it, then I start the styling process, but there's one other thing. I do before I start the style and that's to go ahead and moisturize my Scout with my swag oil. So that's what you'll see me doing here. So I've got my scalp all lubricated and every couple of days I just do a really good scalp massage partly for about. I don't know three to five minutes: moisturize my scalp get my follicles stimulated, so my hair can grow okay, so my hair is all soft and moisturized. It'S ready to be manipulated so with my rat tail comb, I'm just gon na part, my hair on a deep side, part and then I'm gon na do what I call a roll tuck twist. It'S not really a flat twist, because I don't have two strands of hair that I'm, you know twisting down the scalp, I'm just sort of picking up, hair and rolling it and tucking it. I'M gon na do the same thing on the other side of my head, and that's really all you have to do for this style is just get the front lay down and if you want to do a flat twist, instead of a roll tuck twist feel free To do that too, you need very few things to do this style. I did this style for the first time as a transition art, and I wore it quite a bit during that year of transitioning. You need an afro puff ponytail. I think I got this from Sally's some years ago. Wasn'T very expensive, but it has. You know: kinky texture, just like our hair and it's a lot of fun. It'S easy to snap on, but when you gather your hair back into your outlet, I the first time that you use the tie. You want to insert the hair into it, but instead of pulling the hair all the way through the second time use the tie to form a bun so that your ends are protected. And you want to leave those in stuck inside the bun so that when you put your afro puff ponytail over the top, your your hair is all tucked away. You don't have to worry about the ends being bothered or disturbed in any kind of way. This style is easy and it's quick and it looks so so cute. I cannot tell you how many compliments I got during the four days that I wore this ponytail. So when you put the ponytail on, it's got to have two combs, probably depending on the one that you get there's gon na, be a comb on the top and a comb on the bottom. You can tell where the bottom is, because it has a little drawstring. So I guess you could put that on the top, but I like to leave it on the bottom because to me it's just easier to hide it and when it's on the bottom, so gently gently push that comb into the top of your bun and then push The bottom comb into the bottom of your bun, but you want to do that gently because you don't want to tug at your hair and damage your actual hair once you get it in place, pull in that drawstring, so it's tight and then you can accessorize. You can add some cute earrings, you can add a cute headband. There are so many ways to specify this hairstyle, but I love it. Isn'T this just the cutest style I mean seriously. It took me like three minutes to do it and it's fine. You know just the way it is, but if you want to add some extra snap to it, you definitely can if you're going somewhere fancier, you just want to feel cute and honey. When you get finish, you catch a death on honey, yes, girl. What that's down All Right see y'all next time,

deedivamc: This is soooooo soo crazy!! I was just playing around with my hair and thought of this same exact hairstyle to do with my ponytail. I've been dieing to rock my afro puff ponytail for a long time but just couldn't pull off the slicked down look up front. Thanks for giving me the encouragement to try this alternative look w/o gelling down, or trying to flatten my natural hair. This would be a lot easier on my head. :-)

princessmoonbeam0719: i have been doing this for over a year! i use bump-its and everything! the top square part of my hair i always change....twists, bump-its ( love doing 3 rows!)..braids. all protective! i usually do my hair like this. i alternate between this and marley buns!

curlykiki: awww- so glad it helped, deedivamc!! let me know how it turns out for you. :)
