Hey everybody and welcome back today i have recent. The chair. Rhys was one of my clients for so many years before i retired from behind a chair, and i want to say i haven't done her hair in about six years, so i just took off her honesty. Towel, that's our microfiber towel. I always recommend that um and what's happening is i'm checking out her hair and i'm noticing that her textures are different. Now, it's not that first, i'm like oh, your textures are different than i got into it. I'M like oh! No! This is heat damage, so you see, the back of her hair is totally different than the front is and look at this cute little girl down here. You know she just the textures are great, but what's happening is rhys. Um is in the nursing field. Everybody heads off to her. I love people that take care of other people, especially what we've just been through in the world and what she does is she likes to like slap, a ponytail on the back and then press her bang out and just wear it like that. So, of course, even though i always start like this, i'm starting with some satin show heat protectant and i'm putting a little extra on her hair um. Just for the simple fact that you know, i just want to make sure that she's covered completely and we're not adding to the damage, but you know we're totally gon na um just put her hair out and get started on this blow dry, but yeah. She like puts a ponytail on the back or, like slicks, the back in a bun, and then she always presses their front piece. It'S almost like you know when you wear a protective style and you braid, your hair up and the rest of the hair is protected. But the piece that you wear out to cover that part is always super straight or it's broken, so we're just going to work on reese's hair. Today, you always want to make sure that you're using a wide tooth, shampoo comb when you are combing out the hair and just combing through gently starting at the ends and working your way up to the roots. Don'T ever start by going into the roots with the comb, because then you end up snagging and breaking the hair, and then i'm just going to go in with my denman brush and the blow dryer and i am blow drying down. If you notice the blow. Dryer is always angled down, because what i am doing is when i use the heat protectant. Sometimes people are like. Oh, i don't think that's enough, but it is enough. A little bit goes a long way and that blow dryer is going to super help. You with that, because what's happening is the oil is basically being spread out throughout the hair and being distributed evenly and if you just blow dry down, you help all of that protectant get throughout the hair, and on top of that it closes the cuticle. So if you ever see somebody get their hair done or you do your own hair and it's just like all these little short pieces sticking up all over the place while you're blow drying. That'S because you aren't closing the cuticle, so try your best to just face your blow dryer down, while you're working with it and it'll just seal everything off and make your hair nice and smooth um. When i am explaining to you guys on youtube, i'm trying my best to always just sound super relatable, and i know sometimes i'm going to use terms that i learned in hair school and then i learned doing research and i just always want to be relatable. You see right now, her hair is like steaming a little bit, but that's because i put extra heat protected in it. So, whenever your hair is doing that, while you're blow drying it it's either because you left some um conditioner on your hair or you put a little extra heat protectant, but that's literally just the product doing that it's not hurting the hair at all. It'S just how it reacts to the heat of the blow dryer, oh yeah, but yeah back to what i was saying. I always want to sound relatable. I don't want to overdo it and just be too extra on my approach with the education, because i need you guys to understand that the truth of the matter is most people watching the channel or watching youtube, didn't go to school and don't understand all the terms. So it's like, i just want to sound relatable, and i want you guys to feel like you're able to do this at home. You know what i'm saying so when i say seal the cuticle or when i say that, basically the hair is like frizzy or his piece is sticking up. It'S literally because the hair splits all down the the shaft so all down the strand of hair. Look at look at the shrinkage child. What look at the shrinkage? But you know when you are when your hair splits, sometimes it splits all throughout the strand of the hair. So the only way to smooth that out is to just hold that blow dryer down and just blow that product evenly throughout the hair and it'll make it super smooth, and that's why the hair usually usually looks like it's already straightened when you blow dry it. Even if it's like on the coolest temperature, it looks like it's already been strained, so now it's time to go in and really check, reese's hair out. I am going to start by pressing her with our 22 titania flat iron in the color. Smoking mirrors every single thing i use today. I will put a link for it below um, a lot of people like. Can you give? Can you tell me where you got this, so we got that it's always in the link below every now and then i'll forget something. So if i forget anything just remind me in the comments, as some of you do - and i truly appreciate that remind me that i forgot a link, um and i'll, make sure to add that there for you, so you can be able to go purchase it at Home, i always use stuff that you can get um for yourselves and i like to use relatable products too, not just my own all the time, because if it works for me, hopefully it works for you and um. You can experience because reese hasn't worn her hair out in a while. We decided to just do it straight, so she can enjoy her length and we also feel like it's the best way to see what her ends are doing and how her hair is holding up. So we can tackle it in the right manner. Now i want to talk a little bit about heat damage. Um. I also get the question a lot. You know, can heat damage be reversed and the truth of the matter is it cannot? I know that sucks. I know that's hard to hear, but it cannot be reversed. It'S just like getting a relaxer. You can't reverse a relaxer. It literally has to grow back out of your scalp natural for you to enjoy your curl pattern again now with heat damage. It'S the same thing. You literally just have to cut away at it um and i'm gon na tell you this it. This is such a huge like debate, especially in the natural hair community, but this is such a huge debate, but heat damage doesn't necessarily mean that your hair is just completely messed up. Some people thrive from heat damage, because, although they don't get relaxers um or a chemical manipulator on their hair, they still wear their hair straight all the time and the more your texture is set in your hair, the harder it is to keep it straight. So a lot of women love the fact that their hair is broken down, because heat damage is just basically the bonds of your hair being broken down over time. Some people get heat damaged the very first time because they use too many passes of a flat iron or they go somewhere and the stylist uses too many passes. You know i tell you guys, one is enough or if you're getting curls after a press. Two is fine too, but i think that you should stretch out how often you get your hair pressed or how much you add heat to your hair. So i always tell people to go like once a month or once every six weeks or me, i just press my hair once a year now, i'm. I can't believe that, because i used to wear my hair pressed all the time, but now i just get my hair pressed once a year and i look at it and take care of it and i still trim it every two and a half months to three Months but i don't press it anymore, so some people thrive off of their br, their bonds being broken down with the heat and they call it heat trained. Now, i'm not telling you guys, oh, go, get your hair pressed a lot, so your hair could be heat trained. I don't think that's the proper way to do it, but i don't think it's necessarily wrong either, especially if you're not wearing your natural texture at all. If you're not interested in it, it's kind of like okay, it's okay! If my curls aren't here anymore, because i'm not interested in wearing them and as an individual, that's okay! We do a lot of judging and worrying about what other people's doing with their hair. Now, what i will say about heat damage, slash or some people call heat training. What i will say about it is that the hair is definitely a lot thinner and a lot more, i would say, just in the fine family. You know what i'm saying and it's like it makes it easier to press. It lasts a lot longer, but sometimes it can end up dry and things like that. So you just want to make sure that you're taking care of your hair, because you do not want to have something like heat damage like affect how your hair is looking all for the sake of just wearing it straight. You have to take care of it. If you are pressing your hair, all the time and your bonds are broken down, just make sure that you are doing deep conditioners all the time that you are trimming those ends and you are taking care of your hair properly because it will hold up for you. It will, but it definitely would be a lot fuller if you allowed your texture to return now. Baby reese has not had her ends trim in two years. I could have just plucked her fingers when she said that, but you know i'm not gon na harass her. I'M just gon na go ahead and help her out a little bit now. Of course, i could have went a little tiny bit higher, but i didn't want to traumatize reese. You know what i'm saying like it's been her first time sitting in the salon in years, and i just was like you know, i'm here, for it i'll gradually take your ends up while i'm in philly for the summer. You know what i'm saying and speaking of which um i just wanted to. Let y'all know like if this is in july it'll be three years that i retired from behind the chair. I only do hair at work when it's for my youtube channel. So when you see me doing hair it's not because i'm just doing hair it's just because i'm filming for my channel and when i'm home it's so many of my friends and family that i can do that. I just like come on. Let me do your hair, so when i tell people to shoot their shot, that's what i mean is because i'm looking for people who will allow me to do their hair for content. So, as you see, i remember last video. I talked to you guys about the fact that i never pulled the up the inside up on camera. I do it off camera, but i'm just showing you guys right now that i am pulling the hair up, because this hair doesn't reach down at the perimeter. So you must pull the hair up just like. Even when i did my own trim video. You must pull the hair up and get that hair that didn't reach now, if you are trimming your own hair or if someone, if you're at the salon, get your instrument and they only do the perimeter just kindly ask like hey: do you think you could like Pull my hair up and just get those ends that don't reach at the that at the ends. The way you just did you know what i'm saying just be kind and mindful of how you know you approach the stylist, because that could be a hard conversation to have, but when you're paying and you want your hair healthy, you know what i'm saying just handle It you see that hair right there, it doesn't look like it, was hit at all and that's because it was not so i'm just pulling the hair up. I was like. Let me do this on camera this time, because you know sometimes it gets it's hard for the camera to focus on the ends. As you see right, there was out of focus, so i just stopped doing it all together, but today i've made it a point to do it because we talked about it in the last video. So now that we basically have these ends done, i'm just pulling up from a little lower just to make sure those ends was chunky. I got to show you something i'm introducing to you guys peggy. So this is the very mini 22 titania. I named her peggy sue because you know jay-z song, um he'd be like i got a little tutu. I call her peggy, so you know i'll be in my little marketing bag. I know that's a funny name to call it, but that's what she is like look at her. She does she, the 22 titania little cousin, and she is here to press your edges. She is here for your baby hair. She is here for your short pixie cuts. Now the mini iron peggy sue is it's made for edges, so it only goes up to 390 degrees because you are not supposed to be putting that kind. That amount of concentrated heat on your edges like that, so i'm just going in and just tapping her edges. I made sure to press her hair first, so we can get all the hair on the inside and then i'm just going to take this little iron and i am going to just go around the edges just to make sure they're smooth. I know some some videos are like. Well, you guys, you didn't get the edges that just aren't mandatory it's up to you if you want to go in and make sure that your edges are smooth, but peggy sue will help you, okay and they drop on july. 1St, that's this friday coming up so hopefully, if it's for you not only does it go to 390 degrees, which is the safe temperature for your edges, but it's also a ceramic plate, because a ceramic plate helps with making sure that the heat is regulated on your Edges edges are usually a lot thinner and a lot shorter than the rest of your hair. So we just want to do everything as safe as possible when it comes to deeper than hair, so these irons are made for you. If it sound like it's something that you would love, you can get them this friday now reese and i decided that we're just going to go ahead and curl her hair we're just going to go ahead and curl it, because we just felt like we wanted a Little more off to the hair, so i'm just going to go in and i am taking really huge sections and i am just doing a light. Little little shanked ink, you know saying like we're not going to make it super tight and we're not going to feather it, we're just doing a little something something. So that's what we're going on and doing right now now, as you see, because i already pressed her hair with one pass and it's nice and straight and silky for us, i'm taking very, very wide sections very chunky sections so that not that much concentrated heat is On small sections of hair, so you know you can do it. However, you want to, but i'm telling you this helps and it leaves the hair, nice and full, because once you break it down for a press and then you break it down with them pieces for curls, then it just makes the hair get flat faster. Your curls fall faster and it just isn't really healthy for the hair, so just make sure that you take your time with that and do bigger sections it'll just help a great deal. I want to know how do you all love your hair? Do you love it? Curl, do you love a straight me? I just love my hair straight so bad like. If i have like a unit on or longer hair, then i rock with curls, but i feel like with my real hair curls. Make me look so young, especially like when my face is on the rounder side, like my weight just goes up and down and when my weight is on the upside, my face is so round like curls. Just make me look like i'm 17 okay, and so i just like longer straight elongated hair. It just helps me with my vibe and my look, but i think curls are so beautiful and i also love how curls allow the hair to look a lot. Fuller as well, so what's your opinion like? What'S your favorite style for yourself when it comes to straight or curls, um, just give me a ponytail for roofaro. Just give me a pony like i just want something: real convenient and chill and ponytails can be worn on the red carpet or they could be worn to the market. The gym like they're, just so everything and you don't have to worry about them like giving up on you in the middle of the day. You know what i'm saying but again like when it comes to straighter curls. What'S the vibe for you, i also want to know how y'all feel about the heat damage versus heat train situation like if you wear your hair straight like do you find it a lot easier with your bonds being broken down and your hair being heat trained? I'M doing air quotes when i say heat train or are you against it? You know, i know us. Natural girls are totally against heat damage because our curls aren't there anymore, but i want to know like how does your hair being heat trained help you um? If you wear your hair straight most of the time um, because you know people need to hear that opinion um, because you know i'm not biased, you know i'm. I understand both parties, but let's, like have a little open discussion without judgment. Please do not judge each other at crazy, because sometimes people be getting crazy in the comments i'm like guys chill. You know like this is a positive platform and i just want us to love on each other and understand that everybody is entitled to their own opinions and just stay. Respectful now see. Reese'S hair looked very nice straight, but i also love her hair curly we're gon na go in with the glass brain shine. I will leave a link for that below as well. I'M just gon na spray, a few little sprays over her hair just to lock that shine in and that's all she's going to need for the next two weeks. If her hair doesn't frizz up because her hair might not last that long. Just because of the fact that it hasn't been pressed in so long but um, just all she has to do - is wrap her hair up every night with a silk or satin scarf. I will put a link for a satin scarf below as well and um she's set to go because that the oil from her natural hair and the oil from the glass will lock that shine in and just keep her healthy shaking it out. Okay, it's all nice and full of body just gone coming out. A little feather action and reese is ready to take on her week, and i just want to thank everybody for watching make sure you subscribe tell a friend, and i will see you all next time -

Z Beauty: I personally feel like there's a difference between heat damaged and heat trained hair. Like I consider your hair heat trained if it straightens more easily bc its used to heat but still reverts when washed. Its heat damaged if its just straight and doesn't revert back at all. I don't see the two terms as interchangeable but some do. I dont see a problem w/either or if you don't use heat at all. Whatever works for you!

Shannon Stjulien: As a viewer and a professional the single best compliment I can give you is, No matter how long your videos are, they are too short. I absolutely love you and your work.

Denise: I followed your video on how you trim your own hair and omggg it was the best, most even trim I’ve ever given myself!! I just trimmed it last week and it looks soo good. I still haven’t mastered the blow dry but I’m working on it!! Thank you for all the education

Jennie Smythe: Natural means you rock your hair out your scalp. I never here ppl screaming and shouting at non black women who straighten there hair everyday. So I’m not sure why being heat trained bothers so many people. Anything a black woman does engages others. We in our own community need to support and not knock each other ! We’ve no weave. Straight kinky curly. Peel relaxed. Texlaxed. Jerry curl. Do your thing!!

EbbieRo: I’m happy to see you’re back and Congratulations on everything you have been working on and have accomplished this year!!!

Shwana Garner: Watching you do her hair is so relaxing. I always wish it's me in the chair, because I see the care you put into your craft.

clmclachlan: I so love how every video is good instruction for good maintenance. A totally new viewer who never saw your years of content would be able to watch today's video and get as much good information as someone who's been watching for a year. Thank you for being such a great caretaker of the community!

Jess M🌻: Just used your trim video to trim my own hair and it was suuuuuper helpful! Shoutout to your client for being in the healthcare field! I am as well (also guiltyof always wearing ponytails...). It's hard out here, but we got this!

Tanya S: Class is always in session when you're doing hair... love, love the education ❤️

AdrianaYah Yisrael: I gotta add to my bucket list to one day get my hair straightened at your salon. I live in Pennsylvania too which makes it quite convenient.

Porsha Johnson: Came for the trim, because it's so relaxing

God’s Greatest Gifts Regina Lewis: I love wearing curls but not tight. Exactly how you did this lady hair. It makes the hair look so full and bouncy. Great job explaining the process and how to keep our hair healthy at home and telling some hairstylist that don’t have a clue.

Kelvin Roberts: As a man who has no interest in ever straightening my hair I watch you videos because they are so calming.

AlwaysaLady365: Hey Kee, Reese hair looks so pretty, for not getting a trim for two years her hair is thriving. I use to press my hair every two weeks when I was a teenager I fried my hair with Dax pressing oil and roll it up EVERY night. I never knew to deep condition, I just washed & condition my hair and my hair still thrived. I haven't had a press in many , many years.

Jade: Your client hair turned out beautiful. I agree people should style and do what’s best for their hair. Thank you for sharing your skills and knowledge with us you’re greatly appreciated

Bammie Blanco: I use to love my hair bone straight when I was younger but now I love lots of layers and curls lol Also, I’m natural and a licensed cosmetologist. I don’t like the heat train and I don’t like relaxers. ‍♀️

T Mom: You are VERY relatable! I think that's why your voiceovers are magic. I like my hair curly and straight. In luv with the versatility of 4C hair!! I wear my hair straight once a quarter (every 3 months). I get it trimmed when I get it straightened. My hair stylist has it down to a science.

T K: I hope you are enjoying your VACATION!!!! Thanks for staying consistent with the uploading! And I love BOTH curls and straight hair depending on the scenario I'm in and the season of the year. Because curls get sweated out but that pony stays SLEEK in the heat and keep ya head warm in the cold! Curls keep ya head warm too! I prefer people heat train their hair versus a relaxer because of how dangerous the chemicals are. Too many people think fibroids and endometriosis are just a way of life and they are NOT! Relaxers are dangerous people!

Mia Porche: Great video!!! And her ends weren't bad at all to say it was years.... Beautiful hair and I love your nails!❤️

Samantha: It’s crazy because I never knew what “ heat trained” was and the last time I went to get my hair pressed the stylist was like, “ As soon as you get home wrap it because your hair isn’t trained” and I was like what is that ? BUT !! DEEPER THAN HAIR put it in perspective for me so thank you girl ❤️

Denise: I went natural in 2006 (before it became a trend) so I went to the Dominicans and just kept getting doobies. And my hair was heat trained/damaged but it was my longest ever and easy to work with. In 2012 I decided to let that hair grow out and stopped using heat so I could see my curls. Love my curls but now hair is harder to deal with so I’m always in protective styles. I’m strongly considering going back to blowing out my hair twice a month I don’t wear my loose curls and I HATE fairy knots

Patty Williams: Her hair is so pretty! I’ve been wearing natural hair since 2005 or so. I’ve never been able to keep a straight style for long because my hair is naturally wavy/curly. Other than blow drying after washing, I haven’t had any heat on my hair. I comb it, part it on the side, twist it, tuck comb it and pull it into a bun. I’m in desperate need of a trim, lol. I really enjoyed watching this video and I appreciate your tutorial on heat damage and how to care for your hair. Thanks for sharing.

Rachel Gilbert: Wooow, her hair with the natural curl pattern was so pretty with the awesome little curls, but it was also really pretty straightened and then curled! Either way, she has so much gorgeous volume. It’s so nice when nurses can get someone taking care of them for a change - she deserves it!!!

N R: I went with my natural texture (curly) 2 1/2 years ago, after 30+ years of blow drying. I prefer my healthy curls for my rounder, aging face. It’s also nice to not constantly try to maintain straight hair in the foggy climate where I live.

ሰላም: I don't care if I'm on camera, you can put my whole life out there girl I wanna get my hair done by you one day this is so satisfying

Nicole The Alchemist: Ever since I trim my hair every 4 months, I've seen drastic change in terms of length retention. It really is crucial to hair growth and maintenance You are AMAZING by the way

Tearrah Ramsey: I love her and her techniques as a stylist. She is beautiful inside out. I would love to visit her one day. And what I dig is she has a huge following and I have yet to hear her say not accepting new clients like other stylist that starts to get well known!

J J: Beautiful job as always!! Her hair looked great after you got done with it. ❤❤❤❤

Lynn Roberge: I usually wear my hair in a ponytail or a braid. I'm getting up their in age, and I'm seriously considering getting either a pixie cut or a bob. Something that is much more managable for me. Also, I never use heat on my hair. I let my hair air dry

Erin Clancy: Watching how you handle and work with your clients hair, while your talking is incredibly relaxing. Your videos are just wonderful thank you

Tunisia Rawles: Blessings Kee, I can remember when I first decided to subscribe to your page. You came to the aide of this little Muslim girl who was bullied at school. Those bullies removed her hijab and cut her hair. You invited her to your salon to fix and minimized the damage done to her hair and made her feel pretty again. That so touched my heart that I had to subscribe. I just love your videos and I love watching a professional at work trying to teach us how to maintain our hair. I'm just so proud of of you and I'm proud to be subscribed to this channel. Have a wonderful 4th.

Rochelle Naturally: I go between my natural curls and straight. Esp'ly during this hot weather, me, humidity and heat do not get along. But your model's hair is really pretty. You did ya thing as always!!

Steph D: Haven’t straightened my hair with heat in 10 years +. I love my naturally curly hair. I wear my hair mostly in 2 strand twists and roller set with curl formers. Grace and peace.

jeanette adereti: Thank you for pouring so much into your channel to educate others! You’re changing lives and empowering the folks I appreciate you! Sometimes I want to go to a salon, but I get worried about potential damage and rudeness on top of that. But thank you for showing that everyone is not the same. I’m encouraged to try to silk press my hair again and will definitely have this video on lock! My dream is to get my hair done by you someday! ❤️❤️❤️

stephanie butler: Yessss Can’t wait for Peggy Sue on July 1st!!!

JULISSA BIDO: Yeah I’m definitely one of those who has heat trained hair. I do a silk press 2 times a week, deep condition 2 times a week as well. Some of us don’t care for our natural curl pattern and I never ever where my natural curls. She is right tho you need to really deep condition and keep up with trims. Ps. I do alternate from silk press and doing my hair using the Dominican method. Shampoo, deep condition with heat, leave in conditioner, serum while the hair is wet, roller set and then blow out. I know a-lot of steps but I do find that roller setting the hair also keeps the moisture better in the hair. It doesn’t look dry like it does when you blow out wet hair.

Living My Blessed Life: Shooting my shot! Would love to have my hair done for content! I’m good either straight or curls! I believe my hair is heart damaged. I’m not sure what I need to do with it!

Theresa C.D.: You wouldn’t be able to tell me nothing with this beautiful hair!

TeNice Xoxo: I haven't put any heat in my hair (including the blow dryer) for over two years. And when I did last time that was the first time in 2 years. My hair just does better in protective styles. But I would gladly sit in your chair and get a press and trim

J. B II: I have the same challenge that when my hair is curled I look like a little girl and when my hair is straight/pressed, I look like a grown woman. I appreciate you educating and showing love to all women on how we decide to wear our hair. I'm team #silkpress and I'm not worried about my curls but you are right in that my hair is on the soft/fine side

Andrea Dear: So glad & appreciate how you explained about "heat trained" hair. Also, that it is o.k. to not desire your curl pattern

MakeItHungrish: I spent the first 28 years of my life blow drying and straightening my hair because I didn't know how to manage it and really disliked it as it felt frizzy and unmanageable. I am caucasian and have 2c/3a hair and now only straighten it 2 maybe 3 times a year. It feels so much healthier and fuller! do you have clients with hair like mine because i'd love to get some tips for it!.

Imani: It's curls for me! I only straighten my hair once, two times a year tops. I love my curls so I'm very careful with getting a silk press because I want to keep my texture as untouched as possible. I only let one stylist do my silk presses, I'm so paranoid about salon horror stories.

Tonya Williams: I love the way her hair turned out. It looks so healthy.

YouMad_YouTube 💢 GOOD‼️: Honestly, when your hair is straight, it distributes this sebum and other nutrients that are supposed to travel down your hair and otherwise can't do that while it's curled up and or frizzy because,it's too difficult for it to maneuver throughout your hair. Being straightened makes that easier and also the heat from the tool you're using or even just the sun itself helps it travel down to the shaft and into the ends of your hair. That's why these other races have such long hair because, it's straight as well as all the nutrients are going down that hair whenever needed.

D R-K: Thanks for another upload to end the weekend. Your talent always shines so bright!

Jazzy Jade: watching this before bed is the cure to any anxiety, I love this videos so much. You are so talented!

Chanel Bernard: I love my hair in its natural state (curly) but it can be difficult to handle sometimes and not a lot of products work in my hair. It tends to dry out a lot. It used to be heat damaged but I did the big chop and now I try to apply heat about three times for the year to maintain my natural pattern. Also, I love your videos! And your clients hair is beautiful ❤

Mikki ismyname: My 2 cents...heat trained =heat damage. I'm almost 60 and was taught to use a pressing comb..on the stove. Lol. My hair always kinks back up once wet with no straight pieces. Those straight heat damaged pieces will dry and break off over time. Deep conditioning may delay it a bit.

Syreeta King: I can honestly say that it has been so long since I've had my hair done that I have no idea. When I used to get it done it was roller set, but now its the unit all the time. As you said, it doesn't fail me during the day. LOL Her hair is beautiful.

Elizabeth Allen: Me: forward to about 10 minutes in to watch your soothing haircutting process. Love it.

mintkandi22: Her hair is lovely! I love that you focus on healthy hair and that you're giving educating us about healthy hair styling.

ColdDiva: Glad you brought this up because I have decided to heat train my hair and increase the schedule of silk press treatments. My pattern is not thriving, lot off ssk’s, matting, shedding etc. Determined this is best for me for now and ready to get my inches long again!

Dee T-Vision: Heck! I haven't trim mines in about 14 years. It's beyond my shoulders. I condition often.

AuthorHollingsworth: The shine gets me every time. Her hair is so pretty. Love the video

Georgetta{Buttakandi} Thompson: My hair was heat trained after I transitioned from relaxers… I was a straight natural for 13 years my bonds weren’t completely broken down I’d still get a wavy when shampooed. I moved south and started shampooing my hair and the water down here is a beast my coils/curls started to come out more, I’ve been wearing the curly look for almost 4 years now and I must say when I straighten my hair I see the difference it doesn’t get bone straight like it used to but I do only do the one pass now. I miss my straight hair these wash days are toooooo long

Hair by Mz Magic: Beautiful as usual , although I am a firm believer that natural curls can be restored with hard work and dedication, without a big chop.. I am a witness

Alexis M.: 12:48 Yeah went to great clips (cause it was 1min from home) for a $17 trim and that's exactly what I got. I was encouraged to go even though my gut told me not to, but I was like dang my stylist all the way on the eastside (I'm westside 30mins away) and gas is $5. Let's just say I should have listened cause if gas was $10 I would have went after that experience. She missed a lot when she trimmed my hair and told me it would be in layers if she trims it all the way through, Lort never again. My hairstylist fixed it some weeks later so I'm happy again. Traveling on the road with my husband who is a truck driver taught me that Walmart, great clips, fantastic sams, ect. those type of places (when I had no other choice) are not for me. They do not know how to handle African American hair (imo) even though they're taught to do all types. I could barely feel her fingers touch my scalp as if she was washing the air. Anyways her hair looks beautiful, just how I like to get my hair done from my real stylist.

Amarilis: Yes I need somebody to bring my hair up and trim because my split ends are all different heights. I completely agree ❤️

chanreka: Yes!!! Let people do what they want to do. This needs to be yelled from the rooftops

Saleemah Cartwright: I love heat training my hair. I can go out in the Atlanta humidity and it doesn't revert. I'm not wearing my curls so it's cool for my bonds to be broken. If you love your curls, I wouldn't suggest heat training because it's hard to tell how much your bonds will be broken and you can end up with straight pieces.

Lakesha Lohman: My hair isn't heat trained but I occasionally do use heat to straighten. I also trim my own hair thanks to watching your trim videos.

Shawn: I love my hair straight!!! But I've been natural for years. I usually straighten once a year. I'm so afraid of heat damage!

Anna Inspain: I was watching another hairdresser on YouTube (no names no pack drill) and she was pressing the client's hair over and over, like 3-4 passes. I was sitting there telling the screen, "No! No! One pass is enough, just take it slow!" Guess l learned from watching you.

Carla W.: Your videos and your voice are so relaxing! It's a great way to end my Sundays. Many blessings sis ❤️

Lani Walks: I love my curls, and even though I flat iron twice a year, I actually hate it straight bc it's not my true form lol. I think heat trained hair is a legit thing, and I admire those who keep it up bc it's a real life routine.

Ru: I think "heat training"....is just heat damaged hair. I don't think there is much more to it. Like if your natural curl pattern is gone due to "heat training"...then it is just heat damaged. I also don't think it is an issue of one's natural hair being "too hard to manage". Cuz the whole process of straightening hair and the maintenance seems like WAY more work than just taking care of my natural hair in its natural state. Idk...I went natural for the ease of it all. Straight hair is super boring anyways lol. And I will not purposely damage my hair (again...I don't think heat training is a thing--it's heat damage), just for it to be straight. I am learning to be happy with the way my hair naturally comes out of my head.

Moni B: My hair got "heat trained" back in 2013 and honestly, the best photos I've ever taken with my hair shiny and beautiful were during that time. Even if it was 96% humidity outside, it still looked gorgeous. However, as time went by the ends just died. By 2015 I had a big chop to remove all the permanently straightened hair and started fresh. Then again in 2017 and 2019 because I couldn't leave the heat tbh. My hair grew strong after that 2019 cut because of the lockdown and not needing to press my hair that often. I got married in 2020 and 10 months after the wedding, I had about 12 inches cut to donate to cancer patients. But good Lord! My hair went frizzy as all hell and was practically uncontrollable. It would frizz up no matter how much product I used, and I just never looked good in pictures anymore. It was always poofy and frizzy and a little bit faded and gray looking. So here I am, using heat once again at least twice a month. I noticed some damage that I'm trying to mitigate, but other than that it's a lot more controllable now than it was a year ago right after the cut. So you can say I'm pro-heat training solely for aesthetics.

Lexx Alexus: This second time around doing my big chop I’m trimming way before I reach 1 year. The first time I chop I didn’t trim my hair the first 3 years !

Faisa Ali: Loe that little straightener. Will definitely buy it for my pixie cut ❤

Godisamazing7: I think heat training is playing with fire. To each their own though! Since having kids I'm living this big chop life lol!

Mo C: Heat trained works for me. I'm a new mom and since it's "trained" it's easier to maintain and get up and go. I also love all natural hair too but heat trained works for me I loveeeee your videos! Phil 4:13 . Especially the positive quotes!

Vickie W: Beautiful as always and to answer your question, I used to be a die hard natural, but as my hair got longer I found I preferred slightly heat damaged, I mean “heat trained” hair it just made it easier for me to continue being natural and I can still wear my twist outs…although not going to lie, the curls aren’t as tight as when I wasn’t using heat but it works for me thanks for sharing, you’re such a motivation to me as a stylist❣️

Dorothée U: She has such beautiful hair and curls. I wouldn’t do anything just put it up toward the back. Of course you did a fabulous jobs as always. I just think those curls are so cute.

Tay9sdaughter: I love love love getting my hair curled. But when I get a trim I love it straight

Kelsey T: I had heat trained hair and loved it but…..it was thinning and it started snapping off very easily . I would DC regularly and trim all the time. But the bonds of the hair were breaking down more and more with each flat iron session, When I noticed this I decided to rock my natural curls and I ❤️ them so much. I ask myself what took me soooo long. Everywhere I go now women are always asking me what do u do to your hair ? Or what do u use I’m like this is MY hair, my curls and no one has it. I sometimes miss it being straight but I am not trying to have thinned out hair where u can see my scalp. Nope straight hair ain’t worth all that but to the ones that want to chance it have fun with that . No judgement here

Patrece M.: Peggy Sue is going to be a great travel iron!

AP King: Thank you for explaining the heat damage thing. I really appreciate it. I love watching your videos because you really educate on the hair.

tashabr801: The Dominican shop damaged my hair. The curl pattern was gone. Thats been2 years ago. Now my hair is curly and i will trim when fall comes. To hot right now.

LaToya Mayo: Beautiful head of hair. That trim set it off

Mystical Misfit: The Dominicans DESTROYED my curl pattern & it took me years to overcome that heat damage. I will look busted before setting foot in a Dominican salon again. YouTube is the only social media I have these days. I’m in Baltimore but if you need heads for your channel, I’m on the first thing smokin to Philly! my hair has not been done in about 2 years…..I’ve been through a lot. I’ve got grays in the front, my natural hair color in the middle & the dyed color on the ends. I’m ready for a major chop & color. If you run out of folks to do, you can absolutely chop my hair off. So ready for a change

Kenyatta Starks: Love your channel!!! So informative and helpful.

Kalima Torrence: I think my hair was heat trained. I would wash, air dry (most of the time), and flat iron weekly. I was caring for a loved one and neglected my hair routine. Now it won't stay straight for nothing . I agree with what you said about curly making me look young, I prefer straight, makes me look mature I think. Easier to style. I would love a chance to get my hair done by you!!

Elyse Midgyett: I feel like my curly hair makes me look younger too, especially because they’re shorter right now. I’m currently growing my hair out straight and protective so I can wear it curly and long.

BEA J Brow: Love watching the hair get trimmed.

Sevynn Lee: Omg I’d love to get my hair done for content. I’ve been thinking abt it since I started watching lol

Andy: Shooting my shot as a long time subscriber from D.C. I am a teacher off for summer, making me flexible to schedule. I had long thick hair but have had some damage and will be open to suggestions and imagination to get me back on track. Sending you some well deserved kudos for all your success.

Mizz J: Beautiful results! Those are the curls I want for my wedding

Ooops •: These videos have helped me so much in my natural hair journey and that want ppl lack in their journey sometimes. My hair is now down to my thighs after learning to take care of it properly for my hair type and getting encouragement from natural hair channels like this one !!!!

Hattie Colley: As Always, great job. I just luv this look. It is the Silkness for me. Movement is everything. Thanks for sharing!

Monisha: Love your content. I now love my hair in its natural curl pattern. I used to wear my hair straight all of the time so at one point I did not mind being “heat trained”. But when I decided one day to go back to my curls and my hair did not curl I was soooo sad. That’s when I first learned about heat damage. I may straighten my hair again one day but for now I don’t think I’ll go back anytime soon. I did the big chop in 2019 and so far I have not gone back to using any heat on my hair.

YouMad_YouTube 💢 GOOD‼️: My sister also told me, when it comes to curly hair it's shaped more like a ribbon whereas, when it comes to straight hair it's more shaped like a cylinder. That's why whiter people have long heavy hair because it's a cylinder instead of a ribbon. Ke let me know what you think about this.

Ash: I just love everything about you and your channel!! I live in Cleveland, OH but will CERTAINLY take that drive to get my hair done! I am shooting my shot lol my hair has been an the downhill the past like 2 years. It used to be so long and I have not been taking care of it cause it’s costly to keep up! I know I probably need to get it trimmed again and I have 2 bald spots I think I just need something different

char char: I thank her for the work she does I truly love this post ❣️

Liz Serrano: I know a lot about heat train or heat on curly hair. I used to slay my hair weekly I stopped about 6 years ago and now I got my curls back but I kept with trims every 3 weeks it helps so much

Dare Jones: Sis I am loc-ed and I still watch your content!! I only know about heat after doing a relaxer, never had the opportunity to have my hair pressed! I had jerry-curls, then relaxer for years. Now I'm on my 2nd set of locs! I struggle with my hair in terms of growth and length retention so I don't really understand why ladies heat train their hair (it's their choice anyway) - not all stylists are at your level! Thanks for the video

bee gee: Those short pieces you mentioned after the blow dry ... all my greys look like that! Argh! And you are relatable especially to someone like me who doesn't go to a salon

Kamau Harvey: I LOVE wearing my hair bone straight but I hate the imperfections in the morning when I wrap at night. I’ve gotten accustomed to doing a classic drop curl and letting the curls fall to have a natural bohemian bed head curl. That way I’m not curling my hair as often. I thought I had out grown cornrows for a time and I didn’t want to cut my hair so I thought wearing it straight was the next best thing. My curl pattern is super tight and I was told my hair in it’s natural state is too unruly so I straightened it constantly. I didn’t mind the damage necessarily but I love that my hair feels thicker like it did when I started growing it.

Dia McM: I HAVE TRIMMED MY HAIR AFTER I STARTED FOLLOWING YOU AND MY HAIR LOOKS BETTER. AGAIN, I'M ON MY WAY TO RECOVERY WITH MY HAIR. BLESSING!❤️

Madame Bleu: Bomb per usual! ❤ I definitely like my hair curled...it's so flat straight...I need some Bawdy! I'm not a fan of heat damaged or "heat trained ". personally I wear my curls more than I do straight so I definitely would cry if I had heat damage. as a stylist, I recommend all my girls who want to keep their curls to limit their presses and I adjust my temp depending on the texture and curl pattern.
