Quick & Easy Braided Ponytail Tutorial

Hey guys welcome back to my channel, so today's video is going to be a hair video. So, while we're stuck in this quarantine, I felt like I wanted to do a video that shows some really simple hairstyles that you can do. I know everybody's kind of going crazy because their hairdresser can't take any appointments and your nail tech is out of business right now. So this is something that you can do at home. It'S a really simple, but really cute ponytail. So let's go ahead and jump right in so I'm gon na start with the rat tail comb and just brush all my hair up into where I want my ponytail to be, and then I'm gon na go ahead and brush out my edges, and I do this Because I'm about to start putting product in my hair - and I don't want to mold my edges until the end, so I just go ahead and just take those out until I'm ready to go ahead and style those. So I take an edge control brush. I have no products on it and I just brush them out where my natural edges just slow. So then I'm gon na go in with some gel I'd like to use the pro style gel by am Pro. This is an oldie, but a goodie like everybody who was everybody knows about the black gel. So I really like using this aside from eco styler gel. I just feel like eco styler. Just doesn't do anything for me and this works really well with the other products. I'M gon na use as well, so I like to use a gel at first because it just kind of helps my hair begin to mold. It'S not really hard or crunchy or doesn't leave my hair Blaikie. So I just helps me just begin. The early stages of molding, my hair into a ponytail and then I'm gon na take a hard bristle brush and hard bristle brush a hard bristle brush and just brush my hair into the direction. Where I want my ponytail to go and then I'm gon na go in with some style factor edge control, this stuff smells so good. I don't know what flavor it is or what, since it is off the top of my head but I'll put in the description box, but it smells so good. The only con about this product is that it when I do use it for my edges. I see that it tends to leave like a white cast, makes it kind of flaky. So I really don't go in with too much of this, but this stuff really does hold really well. If you don't want, like a super stronghold like if you're just trying to wear the ponytail for just a day and take it down, didn't stop here. But if you want to go in with the extra holds. If you want to have this ponytail in for a couple days and not let it budge, move anything go in with the beeswax this stuff right here, I cannot do a ponytail without beeswax like it's just it just works really well, for my hair, my hair is Relaxed so it just really helps with like molding my hair and just keeping it in place and just giving me that sleek effect like I really don't get that effect until I put the beeswax on it, so I'm gon na just go ahead and take these ponytail Holders I love them so much. They don't have the little metal thing in them. They'Re very soft and I'm just gon na go ahead and just put my hair into a normal ponytail. That takes a lot of work and that's why my arms are so slow, because putting your hair in ponytails is not easy. Okay, so next, I'm gon na take some expressions: 82-inch, hair. Okay. We want this ponytail to be long, okay and then I'm gon na take. I want to say this is about 48 inches of hair and I'm gon na put that on top and the reason why I'm doing. That is because I really want the top of my ponytail to be full and I didn't want to go in and use two packs of hair, because the longer the hair gets the more tangles you get, and I just really was not trying to. I want this style to be very easy, so i find that just working with a smaller bundle or a smaller pack of hair at the top to make the braid fuller helps. You know minimize having to use two long packs of hair and dealing with the tangles and all of that at the end, so I'm just gon na put both of those on my own ponytail and then begin creating my braided ponytail. So I didn't hide my hair under the braid. I just went ahead and included my ponytail in the braid. I feel like it looks more natural that way, but you can go ahead and top knot, your bun and then make your braids around it. However, you want to do it it's up to you, but I just find this way works easier for me, so it could be kind of tricky at the beginning, but just think of it as you're, starting just like a regular braid split it into three sections and Then just start building the braid from there. Now this braid, I'm in the house, I really wasn't going anywhere. I could have made this braid like really really neat like got some gel and like sleeked, my natural hair inside the hair, so that it really didn't peek through, but I just really want like this was just for the house. Okay, so I really didn't make it super super neat, but if you were going to like an event or something just make sure if your natural hair is not the same hair, I mean same color as the braiding hair, so just make sure you blend it really. Well, because you don't want that peeking through and then I'm gon na take a wide tooth comb to just help with the tangling at the bottom. You guys really can't see it in the frame but girl. There is, if you don't like split the braid every every time, you're like braiding, the hair. It could get really really tangled, so just be mindful of that um and just have a wide tooth comb nearby, because I'm telling you it'll help dramatically. So I'm just gon na continue to braid and I will just let you guys watch what I'm doing cuz braiding is. I mean it's just a normal braid, so I will just let you guys watch the braid and I'll come back and check back in with you guys so now that the braid is completely done. We'Re gon na go in and stretch out the braid a little bit. Now, when braiding the hair, it could kind of get really the break and get really tight, and I love to go in and just kind of just squeeze out like that tightness. You know just loosen the braid a little bit because then it's gon na lay better on the side of your face and it's not gon na be so hard, so just go in and just pull make it as loose as you want to that's kind of how I wanted it, but your preference, so next I'm gon na go in with some gel on my edges and just go ahead and just swoop swoop swoop. The edges, like I usually do, if you guys, are interested in how I do my edges. I mean I will make a more detailed video, but I just I use the gel at first to go in and just swoop my edges in the just in the natural direction that they go. And then I go in with the beeswax to just have that extra hold on them, but that's really all I do. I don't really do anything fancy so now that the edges are done. We'Re gon na go in with some spritz or hairspray, whatever you have that'll just spray on the hair and hold it and then I'm gon na take a scarf and I'm going to wrap that around my edges. I went ahead and wrapped another scarf around my actual hair, the base of the ponytail, but I didn't have that clip in there, but I'm just gon na wrap the hair, so it can hold and we're going to keep this on our head for ten minutes. You could keep it for longer, but ten minutes will do you a good solid. So in the ten minutes I remember that I had some left over just crochet hair and I wanted to go ahead and add some to the ponytail. Now this is optional, but I feel like it just gives it a more like mm. What'S the word, I'm trying to go for it's just very like bohemian mm-hmm, you know it just gives it a just a very like cute. Look to it like the ponytail on its own is cute, but this just adds a little bit. You know a little pizzazz to it. So if you have some leftover, crochet hair, I definitely would recommend just throwing some cute stuff in it. Throw some beads in there or throw some you know those little gold Clips or whatever you want to dress it up or dress it down. It'S up to you, because this look is something that I know everybody kind of has braiding hair laying around like, and you got something laying around in your house, so just kind of see what you can come up with and that's kind of what I did so Now that the ten minutes is up, I'm gon na take the scarves off of my head and just kind of like play around with the strands of hair kind of see how I want the crocheted hair to lay.
