Individual Crochet Box Braids For Short Hair!! | No Cornrows, No Braiding, Only Rubber Bands!

I tried a new way of crochet (new to me, that is) braids. My hair is very short, but I still like the look of box braids. I thought it would take to much energy to actually grip my short hair, so I tried rubber bands to make my sections. I crocheted the hair under my rubber bands and made sure that my actual hair was behind the braid. Where my hair is longer (on top) I had to go a step further and weave my hair through the braids. It was an easy process and took me about 5 hours. I'm sure it wouldn't take someone else that long, but I work very slow.

Hey guys welcome back to my channel today we're gon na be attempting these crochet box braids on my short hair. So, first and foremost, I need to pick out my hair, because you know so I just watched it and blow-dried it so yeah. This is just what it looks like my hair - I guess maybe it's like 2 to 3 inches on top, maybe and in the back, like that's, not even an inch, so the only thing you're gon na really need for this is rubber bands and some crochet here. So I'm making a section in the back, I'm gon na do three little sections across the back off-camera. I am putting some gel on my hair, so I'm using eco styler in the pink container and then I just grab a little rubber band and I just make sure that it's decently tight on my hair, but trust it does not have to be this tight. Actually, the looser the better, but I did want mine to be slightly tight, so my braids would look nice big trusts. They don't have to be tight as you'll see. This is the brand if they had them using it by model model. Color 27 into C long box, braid hair - I don't know how many pecks I used because I had taken on the hair out, but I have 56 braids, okay guys. So the actual crochet process is like any other crochet that you've seen I'm doing the same process. The only thing I did really was go underneath the rubber band area. So that's how that goes now. You will see me tucking, like I will spend some time after the braid is attached, just making sure that my hair, that is in the rubber band, it's actually like behind the braid, so yeah, some of them in the way back. I didn't really, you know, focus on too much for the simple fact that I knew that it wasn't necessarily gon na be seen because I kind of plan on wearing her either up or like in a half up half down state but you'll see I make the Section here I'm gon na put some gel on my section put the rubber band on it, and then I am just going to try to hide my own hair behind the braid and where my hair is longer at the top. I will go in and sort of weave my own hair through the braiding hair, just so that you know it's not easily seen. I heard that is not a hundred percent match, but I don't think it looks bad at all. So you see I'm pulling through the hair is normal and I'm doing like. I was just saying so. I kind of stopped a little bit here and I'm just kind of making sure that my hair is behind the braid, like I'm actually trying to get my hair to be like behind the braid like through the Lupus will. So it's really tight, not tight, but just really behind it. So you really can't see my own hair because, as I get closer to the top and things like that, my hair is a lot longer. So again, this was not a hard hairstyle to do and I didn't really record too much because I mean I had a lot of stuff to do the next day and I had to get to sleep. So it took me about five hours, but it probably take you one. This is my first time doing this, so you know. For me, it was a lot of trial and error, which is why you don't see a whole dedicated video, but that was just how I did my hair box braids on short hair hope. You guys enjoyed this video. Ashanti Bee: Your tutorial was great along with many many many other old and new videos alike with different methods different ways of doing brainless crochet braids etc. I actually wasn’t able to get the hang of the crochet needle usage( I used the straight one from the beauty supply store and not the curved jagged looking one you had. I actually just braided mine in big chunky plaits with rubber bands and combined the rubber band method wi tv another youtuber’s method of just plaiting the hair and wrapping the hair around it to make a knot. Except I used rubber bands and just pushed the hair through the plait itself
