Alright, alright, hello, everybody um, it's the game! Changing here. If you don't know who I am, I'm a barber teach people how to order destruct in the art of cutting hair. Today I felt like this is a special time. This is a good time to drop a how to cut your own hair video I've been getting a request for a while now and it's not that I've never started point in it. It'S just it wasn't really what I did, but seeing the circumstances were illogical being at home and not being able to see their barbarous. I thought this would be a perfect term to help people who aren't Barbara. Like I say, usually I'm in a bit I'm in the business of helping barbers, but I mean I'm not against helping others. I made this video taking a few different things into account. I'Ve seen a lot of great how to cut your own hair video haircut videos on YouTube. I felt like a lot of more lack of detail, especially catering to people who are barbers, and I think you have to modify the way you teach when you deal with people who aren't in industry. So there's a few things I want to point out so before I start cutting my hair, I'm gon na do a few talking points. I'M gon na hit on a few things that I thought are important. First off. We know that you learn how to cut your hair, isn't gon na drive you or take you away from cutting from your own barber? I mean this is just a maintenance program. Who knows how long the quarantine will be into place? How long we're gon na be in lockdown, so I just thought: hey. Let me teach some good maintenance tips. I will show you I'll be cutting my own hair and I will break down a lot of key points, but I understand that you're not leaving your barber for the stay at home arms. I get a lot of mom say I got four of our kids. I would look like to cut the hair. This will help you to or people who don't want to go to the barber shop like this would be a good overall all-around video, I'm a few things are taken to account so I'll show you my clipper setup. I have about focus, I do have quite a few professional-grade Clippers, but that won't. Do you any good, because I'm pretty sure you guys don't have five or six parent Clippers now what I would do, I would you the Manchu Clippers are use, they are professional grade, but they aren't as expensive. What will be the walls magiclip, I'm mr. Courtland slipper? You can get a corded or cordless it's about 60 70 bucks, but it's a really good clipper. It'S strong, very lightweight, something you can purchase or invest in and it'll come in handy. The second clipper would be the slimline Pro that'll, be my edger. The trouble when I do my outline with also a very inexpensive Clippers for the quality that it presents. Clippers about 60 70 bucks as well, small and lightweight, but very strong black edger, and I might use my Indies masters it's about $ 100, but it's a good Clippers well for fading, but those are the only three I want to use my other high-end Clippers. I'Ve seen people use those Clippers which to me and make no sense, because you're not gon na, go out and purchase notes in this situation. So that's Clippers setup I'll, show you how to use columns um and the benefit of using the comb versus a brush for cutting your own hair, and in this tutorial I actually give myself a taper faith. Might do another tutorial doing a drop a button I'll? Do a step-by-step, I know more people would be comfortable getting themselves tapers or line ups and tapers versus doing the full-on drop favorite bar faith, which is the baldness all the way around so took down to context as well. So a few different things you have to understand your hair texture. You have loose curl patterns, very tight, curl patterns. You have to understand your hair, so you want you understand how your hair works. Then you understand the pressure that you need to apply. So if your hair is thicker, you can apply more pressure on the Clipper itself and I'll go through that more in detail. As I cut you have thinner, hair or looser or looser curl pattern, you don't want to be as aggressive because there's more of a chance if you're taking more off so the lighter your hand or thinner hair, the better. So another thing I recommend, so if you guys, you haven't, had a haircut in the wild which my I have a haircut about a month or two one thing I recommend is to wash your hair first. So what happens is when you wash your hair? First, your hair, so let's break it down water when you're cutting your hair, you doing two things: you're taking length off and you're, manipulating the air water is the best manipulate of the hair. It'S the universal solvent, which means most things dissolve in water. In this case, their hair actually tames itself, it gets the standing water. So if I was to hop in the shower and wash my hair, my hair will revert back or go back to its natural state. So that's what I want to do when I'm cutting my hair. I want it in its most natural form. Another tip that you can do. I won't do it, but I you guys can do it to really help if you have a long, hair style or if you have had a you haven't cut in about a month or two when you wash your hair, actually brush it as you wash with shampoo. What that does is that actually lays your curl pattern down, so a whirl a wave is nothing but it can press curl. So my hair is a natural curl. I have tighter curls, so when I brush my hair in the shower, it actually lays their hair down. Would you give me an easier to cut which will look better as I cut it, which will make me feel more confident that I'm doing the right thing all right? Another thing so last talking point: you have to go into this confidence. There'S a few different things that are dang near foolproof. If you listen to this video and do it the right way, you will not gap your hair and the guards will protect you. That'S what a guard is National Guard army guard soldiers. There are guards same thing with clippers. These are the guards that protect me from taking too much off with that guard, I'll only cut with our only cut it down to with ever range that guard goes to. So if I have a one on I'll, only take one inch of hair I'll only leave one inch of hair only but I'll leave two inches of hair on now. How do you determine which guard is best to you? So when most people go to the barbershop in their curly hair, there's that one wavelength now wave them depending on the thickness of hair. With my thickness of hair, I could do a one-and-a-half because I have more hair. My hair is very dense, thinner, hair, the bigger guards you need so for someone who wants their hair to be the same length as mine and then one and a half or one would probably need to go up a half a guard. Whole guard size that'll benefit. The more because the density hair, also there's a such thing called going with the and against the grain. So if I go with the grain, that means I'm cutting my hair in the natural growth pattern. I'M cutting my hair in the natural pattern that it grows. So the top of my hair grows towards my eyebrows. The back of my hair grows towards the nape of my neck or the bottom of my neck. The sides of my hair grows towards the temple and, as we go back towards the center, it goes down towards the top of my earlobe okay. So that's with the grain. You can cut the hair with the grant. Just make sure that you take your time and be careful against. The grain is a much easier to cut because you'll get an even look because you're actually cutting their hair against the way it grows. I said those blades are cutting the hair, so you don't have to worry about thickness in certain areas. Yeah everything else will discuss as we cut. So you guys stick around this to be a very good video. I believe that help you out a lot a lot. A lot a lot okay, so let's get to it all right. So these are my clippers. The majority of my clippers now the Clippers that I won't be you the Clippers I won't be using, or I won't be using my FX, my god, babbling FX. Those are more of a higher grade clipper and I'm pretty sure a lot of you guys won't have that at the house also will be used. My bad let's go now. The Clippers are mainly used. Are these two? This is the walls magic clip. This is the Stila slimline Pro I might use. This is the very good fading Clippers. Whirling like it's reasonable. You guys can purchase it at your local Sally's or any beauty supply store. You need a column, and you know a wide tooth comb, depending on what kind of how long your hair is, how thick it is, and this would be a good thing to come. A calm is very, very vital and then a brush brush is for usually after you cut it down as you're styling your hair. You also need some intercept. Antiseptic knife, you guys don't have any antiseptic, you use alcohol, it works just as well. 70 proof I'm listen to jail for when I use the razor at the end, and these are guards another brush is well round brush. You can get from Kroger a Walmart, that's where I got that one from Kroger actually - and these are my guards part of the mission - this is a 1 and a half. This is a 2. This is the 0.5, which is a half I'm a half a size. Smaller than the one - and this is the 1/16 as well, this is for the masters all these clip guards right here they go. The manta clip so they'll work great on that all right now, so you guys will need a mirror seeks to the back your hair. Alright, it's tough! Let'S go right! Now! My hair is drawn you never! So we go to the barbershop. You want to go with your hair washed or when you cutting your own hair. Since this, what we're doing you want to wash your hair first, you want to be clearly need debris, dirt, dandruff or any product, but you don't want to call me your hair dry, so our lightly spread a little product, a little sheen little shea butter cuz. I don't want my hair to break off on my comment, so you can use water water dry out eventually, but for the time being to be pretty good. So that's why I'll just use a little product to the whole just a little bit that I would have call my hair. So it's very important that I call my hair before I start. So what happens is when you cut your hair and you don't comb it? Your hair doesn't have proper, spacing your hair is clumped in groups all right. That'S it whether it's been maintained, ways or whether it hasn't been cut or touched in a while it's going to clump. So since I don't want clumping, because I don't want to get my hair, then I want to comb it first. I want to call me in the direction that I'll cut it. You don't want to brush because we're brushing you does brushing clumps to here as well. I need her way, but it clumps it as well. So, like I said, waves, an uncompressed clump together curls that are in a nice neat pattern. So I want to comb it all the way out. I want to lay their hair in the correct in the correct Lane pattern. If I do that, I'm pretty satisfied with that. Now it's time to cut, I have my hair combed. I used to water in because my hair has been coming in a while. I'Ve been kind of just letting it go so why to comb prevented me, breaking the ain't splitting my eggs or breaking my hair up alright. So now it's time to start cutting. So for this look I want a nice wave, so what I do is you can always start with a half the size, bigger or starts big on the gun. So what I'll do is I want a nice wave them? So I think I wan na win the half, but I'll start with to justice. Souter takes off now when I lay these Clippers down. This is the flat back into the Clipper right. This is my head. I want to run it really flat across my head now. You can do it this way, but I'll take more. Neither if I were running it this way risk move alright. So I have my two wall: yeah go and you guys can put a towel on or a cake, but you know alright forget it. Whatever months will rip the logo and my brand so check the shirt up alright, now there is nice and neat. You watch like to die, brought it down, because what happens is when i have my eyebrows up now, I'm gon na leave my scallop. I'M cause I'm causing raises and my scalp, so I wanna keep my eyebrows down. Alright, stop another very important thing, never get discouraged, but I was looking as you cut it down so right now my hair doesn't look at smoke, but you got to remember. I haven't had a cut in a while, so my hair is laying natural still you want to cut it down now. When I put this some water on this tank, I'm doing the cut then down, we got edge it up music transition right now. We just cut it down very smooth. You could take our time and I'm kind of liking this link, but I might want some more off so very carefully. Well, you guys with my up thin spots, we look lost in spots now. Remember I told you be laying flat takes tomorrow when you lift it, it takes less so anything on the side over there. Alright. Now, when I get behind the ear, I just pull it down and I used to corner that blade. I can go back up forward. So I like the length of this, but I might want to go down and sometime those age is a curl, so they still stick up. Don'T worry about a wheel when this time we get to that and those edges curling away, I mean when they don't get as low as everything else. No one's used a mirrored number calm as you going on brush calling okay, so I'm actually liking the tool. So I have to remember: I have to visualize what the hair look like after I lay it down, and this would be a nice smooth look, so I mean I'd rather have too much hair than have to cut it down. If what I'm done, if I don't like how long it is so always really leave too much than too little all right so same constant with the back now when it comes to the back, this is what here comes again. I couldn't mark my barbershop mirror, which is a big nice little, but realistically you guys are probably not gon na. Have it at home, so double sided mirror to back your dirty the front clean, so cheap Lumiere. You can give them the beauty supply store. You can get from Walmart CVS wherever it all works. Your sign right because you're just using it to focus on one party here at the back. You lean into the mirror, so you find your spots, you look at everything. You recall I'll call my lot right. Let'S my readjustment so bring food a little to machine in there, but it's not good right. Then I call me: I just look no same process. I home, i call my hand just to watch and so on. I'M probably the sinner. I want to make sure have a good vision, good, clean Mary here, good clean there there. So the crown is very important. You got to study your clown, see which way it grows. Sometimes you can put a bigger guard on if you're not really sure, and then you go small in the guard, because when you cut that car down you'll see the growth pattern, see my crown girls here there see that same process. You have to study your growth patterns. Growth pattern is the way your hair grows. It'S a crowd. I meant to go up, so I lift my lever back so we'll talk about leverage, but I pull my lever back now slowly at that time, Lolita curl. So what a lever is the levers on the clipper. The lepers are closed. You take more off. The lever is open. You take less off, so that's kind of how you work your range, even with my guard on, so it is. If I have tender spots like I said, I'm open the lever, thicker thicker, more dense areas in my hair, I'll close the lever same guard, okay. So now that I have my head cut down I'll look at it, so there's two things you can do here. You get the tech a break after you cut the hair down, you can take a cell from wrap put it all over. The hair then put a hot rags just put in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds and steam that hair down make it more manageable. As you cut or you can went to the end of the video to do it, so I'll probably wait to hear this video up top on the tape or failure. When I take for now that I got my hair cut down, I can use a smaller card now I want to comb this. A taper is a fan on the sides. I'Ll do a little taper. We fade this side out cut. So what I'm going to do now take my edger with my primary line now have my primary unless my primary line that primary is my main line, my first line, that's what the whole thing will come back to now, it's time for my secondary line. This is where I blend the this is where I'll blend the skin into the hair, my secondary line. Well, the primary alarms my blend is getting to the secondary lines by blending, what I'm making it more manageable right, the easier my workspace to easier to faint. Now I can fade from here, but it'd be more difficult, so we want to work on the easiest method secondary when I open my clippers, my liver all the way up and now I do a fading motion. I don't want to go to her, so this is where some you want to work and your skill that right, I don't want to just be sniffing. I want to rotate my wrist back rotate my wrist back right. That'S how I get the see motion see see. This is the see I start down right back takes time. If you don't feel comfortable about a guard, do a guard on right door guard will make that line, fancy just a nice little low taper. So now this is what we did. Bulk debulking is what this is called. So what debulking is basically dealing to take away debulk take away the bulk bulk is thickness right when you buy something invokes in the grocery store you buy on a thick or a thick quantity up. So I want a debulk it's easier to fade hair when it's finished repeat the thinner, the hair, the easier fade. If you watch any more tutorials you'll know what I mean by you. You'Ll hear me say that a lot, but yes, the thinner, my workspace, the easier it is to fade my hair so to debunk what I'll do is put up a big, a lot of bigger guard like a one and a half, or I said none, I'm debugging. I have my second a line right there, probably a ball secondary light. Now, I'm debulking, I'm gon na go no higher and I'm pinning it up. Alright now mind you. When I lay this all down, it's gon na be smooth debug now get behind the ear shut. It out don't take too much off in this area. I'Ll use the corner of that blade. There we go debug see what we talked about earlier. Those those curly ends that don't want me laid out debug that way she let my workspace is standing out now. I, with my put a smaller guard up and I'll, go with the grass so I'll take my you always put the cleaning Clippers every now and then to get on their hair out there cuz they cut bedrock, less money, hearing it now debug with the ground lightly. Very lightly - and I mean the tip - was not flat. It'S laying here see you just into my workspace out. Did networks place out all right even behind the inner key there's thick and patchy, so I lay it down lightly. It'S very important stay, confident in the process. Don'T expect your head to look great already. I mean it takes time. My art teacher always told me, you can't see the greatness in the fit picture until it's done. You can be happy with your artwork and it may look like crap, but if you step back and look at it from hall once it's done, you'll see the beauty in it. So Nikes my breasts because my hair is thinner now and I'm gon na start laying the hair. This is what I want to train my hair. I haven't had a haircut in a while. So now it's time to train and manipulate my hair. Remember it'll work better! If I was washing my hair, but I mean I'm gon na show you guys it still works, you're, saying cuz. I put that shea butter in there, so my hair still has a little bit of lubrication in alright. So now I use my round brush to brush it down, so I'm just dead, debulking, alright or against Martin Cole right. So now what I want to do is tap with their primary that first line I put in there the primary line, the very bottom, so they lightning light strokes. You can do this things, you can. We all do our lodges Depot, but when I put the bigger got on debugging any phrase there so now Martha work, the secondary lot or just a higher line, and if you have to always check your points, so the brainstem start getting a little cross-eyed. I got ta do take the mirror. I start to look this way. Remember it at this phase. You can definitely brush quite a bit boost off a nice cleaned up with nice. Taper look so, as you can see my hair still thick right here in the front. I could call myself: I can go a half the guard signs down my little tool, so I'm taking a one and a half now I'm just lightly hitting the edges so lay it down when I'm gon na be using is um. I'M gon na be using hot water or rag and black, so black soap is a gray. So it's a it's natural. We have, we have like the legit natural stuff, it's very you can get it online. You can get Africa store, they sell it um the benefit of black Sophia to get the skin clean, it'll, suck the hair up and help it lay down. But he drives you out. You charge your hair out dried your skin up. So you always. I always recommend to use the same oyster, curl, enhancing smoothie, some almond oil, or something natural to or something natural or something natural unless a she anymore, she was natural but or something natural to lay the hair down. So that way, you can put the minerals and nutrients back in your hair. Alright, now I'm getting the water ready, so I can go ahead and let my hair down alright. So I did some black, so I just took some blacks. Take some black soap put it on my hair, warm rag or some get some water, I'm never gon na brush to my hair. So I can lay it down to get that finish. Nice, smooth, look so we'll the cut is done it didn't. I just took a one rag and I let my hair down so before stock. The back. I let my hair dry. I don't want to use a blow dryer, so what I'll do is just with a dry towel and dry my hair as much as possible, but that taper now I can I'll get the finished. Look as I tape with my hair, but for the size one stop pull this black. Some of my hair I'll see. I'M right here lay down punching that with a warm rack, going full all that soap out my hair kind of see. If I like the length I like it, I keeping out getting out check it again before I hedge it up all right. So while Hall was dead, I'm cameras dead. I wouldn't do the other side, so I'll show you guys how we do it self. First, you have to let your edge up, and so I know my age of pin spot here in the front right here and this side grows higher than this side, so I usually don't recommend pushing back, but I also want to even edge up right. It'S more aesthetically pleasing tada, so what I'm going to do and the reason why we haven't taped with the back edge. So the reason why I'm urging some time I'm coming over here, I like motivation to keep going to push through so to see my to see a close to finished product on what I've already done. Kind of keeps me going to be honest with you, so so I'll do. Is I want you to corner my clicker. You have to trust the clip to do what it does and also I stretch this here. So I do it. I know this is exit here. Based off my other edge up, so what I do use the corner. Take my time like the tireless emotion. Let'S see that is my initial on you and I won't hit the front of my edge up. Swear I'll come down right, so I wanted by the language degree angle again I've noticed dinner here. I want to push it back and I also know I want about these coins to match so about here. Give about a ninety degree angle. You know ninety justice 275 degrees. Obviously this is not geometry and it's not gon na be exact, but you want a straight box. You don't want it too far back in the corner. You don't want to push back and you don't want to lean into the inside. All right so just take your time to adjust your hand placement. I find that this is easy for me. The hand place here like this now look from the foot. I want to match it up evenly now I know my edge up is round. I don't want to push it back because the way my head is ship, I don't want to use. So you have to know your heads up. Don'T try to go over what you see also. Should we get TV, everybody said it was not the same. So there's no such thing as a perfect edge up so called what's best for you sign of Mars I'll start here in the middle and I'll pour down alright go out, gives you their corner. Take this off. I can't I want the ninety degree look brother. So that's just hi nice to put the edge about the dupe you don't want to. You can continue to work in with your edges, but I love to use my razors now I tell you how to use the razor it's not difficult using the single blade razor is not difficult. All I have more like when I've tried to use the the multi shaving razors. I have more trouble with those in a single blade. It just takes patience, you did all it takes is patience. The more lubricate the skin is DS. You just gon na register slot and the and the less chance you get you're Nikki. So if I've licked myself like I'm like it happens, so what you do is you just trust your skin? I stretch away and I follow what I did with la clipper. Just like the engine takes time in a rush and like you guys just take your time, is you at home by yourself? You just want, like my suggestion, don't try to shoot for the super crispy edge up, it's getting nice and clean nice and neat, like I said, you're not trying to replace your barber. You just want to be nice and neat doing you know, there's zombies pocalypse, so that would be got the Fayette in there. So I don't take it lightly. Hit the soap, I'm not expecting you down! Yeah babe, you be your perfect perfectly fated input, so you can put a car loan and just hit the bulk up. You don't want the green to the chunky so just lightly hit. It be lighter at the bottom, more more aggressive and foam on top all right. I pull away, I pull away from the razor, so I'm pulling away I'm going this way. I pulled by my nasal cavity. My nose like a 45-degree angle, get the excess off right there boom something pull away technique so move around the finger see I can see. I'M using some heartless low spots just to see here we go and we go boom. The reason upload my cheeks out the jar contours in unless you got a super puffy cheeks. You might have to do this technique, but to make it even for me, I blow it out blow right there, nice neat, how we look it's a fun fact about myself. I never cut the back of my hair. Ever I never tapered myself. I just don't see the point in it: learning the edges, but the tutorial purposes. I know you guys might want to be frenched in the back son. Let'S get it start with a primary line. I want to even it back off, but they made for the neck. Give me a hard line in there. There we go. I wan na find a comfortable place for my eyes and the mirror to see the whole back of my head. So once I got to the primary line there, it was good my secondary line. You and I got a just second a-line. What I do is just to make sure she brushed her hair away ceiling. Well, I always study okay cool. Now, I'm a debulk. Instead of using my car to get that accident, I'm just brushed, I will just rake it with my Clippers. It'S a bigger car, so it'd be good, be working side with the grind. It seemed coming down with the guard instead of picking it taking my son to pick the brush up, what you can't do break it down like we talked about so now. I want to get that property locked it very personal. Once you got the faith, a pretty decent, what you want to do is I put it edge on the reason why we put the edge of it helps. Shows you a mistake, so I might want to hit again and pick something. This is what you're gon na trust. Yeah, we can be very gentle. Keep it far out something else. You could do to get a better use there on the counter. It help you get a nice look, the closer you are, the better. You can see the better views you have now. I can check my work Mac. You see a little detailer, they did taper. We just try to make unique. We want to be good we're not trying to overdo what they'll like when I first try to cut there. The more you try to perfect something when you're learning the Whooper chances you're taking messing it up. If you get a nice smooth tip on this, let it be let it be trust me alright. So now it's time for some cleaning up for tomorrow. If you want to really necessary well, you know bottle you light it up just a little cleanup again. This is the cleanup um. This is a good maintenance. Video in case you guys want to look good for the end of the world. The apocalypse tender new tender profile update pic. I already don't know what you guys doing this Johnny a new haircut, but hey I mean it was requested, so I did it. I hope this was indefinite for you. Fortunee: 33:02 - This is 100% Right! I was 15 when I gave myself my first self-cut. It looked NEAT and one of my boys gassed me up about it the following day. I then decided to try and maker it NEAT-ER, and ended up going bald that same afternoon. SETTLE WITH NEAT!!!!

Vince Drew: This is the first time I've seen one of your videos. As an Army veteran, I have cut my own hair for many years and that was all good, but I lacked skills and technique. After watching this video, I have a whole new perspective on how it's properly done. A very interesting and helpful video. Thank you so much.

goldjwes18: “You don’t wanna replace your barber”..... umm yes tf i do. That’s why im here

Rogue Beautii: This was extremely informative. I can’t believe all the detail he went into thanks man. Wish me luck

Fee White: Hey Hun! This was a great tutorial. You really took your time and I learned a lot. Yes with Barber shops being closed down due to the quarantine and even some openings up, my family members are not confident with going out. So I bought some WALH clippers from the beauty supply store and have been trying cutting my son and mom hair. I still need a lot of practice but this video was great. Thank you!

Matthew: Thanks man. Less than 5 minutes in and I got some good tips already. Been cutting my own hair for nearly three years and I didn't realize that I was always using too much pressure and force on the clippers. Lightened the pressure and instantly a better haircut! Thanks again, might also edit this if I hear anything else that was very enlightening.

treylongchin: Thank you, this was super helpful as ive started my self-cut journey. Every one of my questions were answered and this was well worth watching the full 35 mins!

Vaè G.: This is probably the best tutorial I’ve ever seen on self cuts for beginners. He laid out all the important tricks and methods most YouTube pages never talked about. Great video

BIRDgame: I've been cutting my son hair for the last 5 years - he's in highschool now, so I guess I'm doing something right! ..now I'm trying to get him to go to a barber and he doesn't want too! It's our quality time, so it's cool.

Kwadwo Oti-Sarpong: Man, your directions are so accurate and very helpful to say the least! Your explanations are super helpful and for the first time, I have successfully faded my own hair, ending my afro hair project that lasted 4 or so months. This is the first time I am ever listening to a YouTube video for such an activity. I will recommend your directions to my friends wo would want to have a try.

DeSean Morgan: Bro this tutorial was GREAT!!! Thank you for showing the entire cut and being so honest and giving so much detail. I wish I saw this one before I messed up my taper fade last week and had to give myself a light Caesar. Lol. But I was just able to use a few of the gems you dropped in here doing a little touch up on my hair. Thanks again I can’t wait until my hair longer to really try this again. Oh and fellas that read this I’ve been cutting my own hair for 21/22 years (for the most part) but couldn’t consistently nail the tapers. I’ve been using Andis Masters all this time but I just bought some Oster Fast Feeds and for Fading these joints are seeming to be a game changer! The Masters are GREAT but you’ve gotta already be pretty damn good to perfect fades with them, the Fast Feeds leave much more room for error and honing your skills.

Renee W: Just cut my husband's hair. Great tutorial! In depth and clear for beginners. THANK YOU!

tillfilms: brilliant. thank you. we can tell you're a quality instructor. you take the time to explain why or why not and give people the confidence to apply the lessons themselves.

Fede Thrasher: Love how complex things can get the deeper into the details you dive. Thanks a lot for this video. Im going bald thanks to genetics so i think its going to be easier. I practiced a lot with my beard (to gain confidence). Yesterday i bought a cordless trimmer to give my hair some love. Thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge.

Malaika Smith: Thank you for this! I had a fade that was growing out when the Rona put us in lockdown and really like my hair shorter now. I am getting clippers to do it myself and have been watching a lot of videos. Your tutorial was very informative and was the one I have seen that gives pointers on how to handle cutting with clippers on thinner hair. Thanks, again!

Ecin Yrt: Yo I really appreciate you actually going in detail, going step by step explaining in non-barber terms because half the time I gotta google shit to know what it is and loose interest in even cutting my hair. This is probably the most professional stylist video I've come across. Any expert can regurgitate textbooks a true master can break it down to a 5 year old. Subscribed.

Osman Salih: I tried it. Looks like my lockdown just got extended

l33tgurl: Thank you for this tutorial. My foster son was not wanting to go to a salon for his haircuts, and you saved the day by showing this mama how to successfully cut super curly hair! <3

Eric Snow: I’ve been fading my own hair for the last two years and he uses a lot of the same tricks that I use and I’m a white dude with straight hair. It’s good to see that some things still translate no matter the hair type.

Tony Redgrave: Thanks man. Detailed instructions, slow and easy, and everything we need, you taught it

Wanda Lewis: Thank you so much for this tutorial. I actually cut my hair and I’m proud of myself. You were very informative and had great tips. Thanks again.

Toto's World: This was such an informative video. Thank you for taking the time to teach us all! Amazing job!

AC: This is the best hair cut and taper video I've seen yet. A game changer for real for real. The details describing de-bulking is exactly what I needed. Thanks a ton. You're the GOAT!!!!!

Desmond Deshaun: Listen man I’m here because I’m tired of waiting at the barbershop to get my haircut .. I need to master this !!

Jonathan Poyau: Thank you for taking the time to be so detailed man. Much appreciated.

IAM Shellian PRODUCER: Watched alot of videos today to try my first cut on my birthday boy! I love how deeply knowledgeable and thorough you are with explaining both the "how to" throughout this video & the "what to do before you" at the beginning. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with us! I appreciate you!

Christie P.: This video is really the gift that keeps on giving. After watching/studying this video at least 4 times I finally cut my hair for the first time. And it will not be the last, unfortunately for my barber I gotta relieve him of his services. Just did a little even all over cut, no mishaps, and I am pleased. Thank you sir.

Melvanie Smith: You did a great job!! I think I will be able to cut my son’s hair now. BTW, you look totally different from beginning to end with just a simple clean up hair cut and edge. Very nice

Justyn Williams: Ayo this is over a year old but I just gotta come and say...you def changed the game. I followed your tutorial as closely as I could even though I was mad nervous and I came out getting all types of compliments on my hair. I truly was going for a serviceable look so I could stop wolfin' while also saving money because I'm an actor. Now I don't know if it was beginner's luck but I'm committed to cutting my own hair for the foreseeable future haha. Thanks for doing this my guy!

Berry: So, I am very white, and not a talented hair cutter. My husband is black, and trusted me to cut his hair. I have to say, it didn’t turn out NEAR as good as yours, but thanks to you, he was happy with what I did!

Double D’s Garage: This is a great video!. Very important tips and great detail in the explanation. I commend you for showing this during these times. I’m 24 years old and i started cutting my own hair about 3 years ago. I was self taught through trial and error. And so what if you mess up it’ll grow back. You won’t get it perfect the first time. Waves don’t come in the first brush session you have to train. Besides I’m grown man and the opinion of others won’t pay my BGE, help me sleep, or make me eat I DO ! Barber prices are way too high for the same cut they gave us 2 years ago‍♂️ BTW IF THEY DONT WASH YOUR HAIR THEY SHOULDNT CHARGE AT ALL and/or AS MUCH BC THEIR LICENSE CERTIFIES THEM TO WASH BEFORE THEY DO ANYTHING. EVEN A SHAPE-UP. Save your money and your life during this crisis and DYI.

dplpc86: Before I get to my question I just wanna say thank you for taking the time and being selfless sharing some of your trade secrets. It’s a desperate time and some people are taking advantage and price gouging. I was quoted $60.00 for a hair cut and half of it was for “hazard pay”. So again thank you. I bought a pair of clippers that was about 30 bucks there’s no leveler or anything like that. . I’m trying to understand the correlation between the hair reduction and and the size of the guard. Is it the larger the number of the guard the less hair it removes or is it the other way around? My hair kit came with a 3. 6, 9, 12mm guards. Any assistance is appreciated. Stay blessed and healthy

msbriggins: Wonderful step-by-step tutorial! Thank you!

Dee Tank: Quarantine got me tryna risk it all

KidBrave_: Thank you brotha for making this awesome video. I cut my hair for the first time feeling nerves as hell cutting with a guard one layer at a time until I got to a 1. I seriously couldn't have cut my hair to get a cut days before my baby boy's gender party. Thank you @gamechanger and god bless you!.

Ria: Wow! That's skill. I thought doing my own box braids was an art, but this is outstanding!

morfeo904: Great video. Quality presentation, clear and concise. I needed this.

Dedra S: Thank you so much for your video I just started cutting my son's hair and of course trial by error but watching this video helped me so much thank you for being so detailed in your video, it really did help and have to say ☺️I did pretty good thank you.

JJordvn: been cutting my own hair for about 7 years now. and you still taught me like 12 things haha. Good vid big dawg.

Jae Barnes: Dope video I started cutting my own hair like 5 years ago off YouTube videos. The bald fade was tricky at first but after about 3 cuts I got it, and the blends now are really good.

Vanessa Stars: I just want to tell you I have watched many many videos on how to do this and yours is by far the best and most detailed on what to do especially for us who need to cut our husbands hair during quarantine! Thank you so much!

veronica Orr: Thank you so much, I cut my husband’s hair today and it was pretty decent with your instructions:)

youngn316: Everything that comes from this man right here is golden from the energy to detail and confidence GAMECHANGER in real life and on the net

Darien Brewer: Now I know how to cut behind my ears. Thank you bro! This is what i've been missing! I wish I had seen this before I cut my hair recently but I only used the #1 guard so I can take it down to a 1.5 for a cleaner cut later.

Miesha Edwards: Thank you, Sir! I'm late to the game but I just finished watching this! I think I'm gonna watch a few more times before I pull the trigger - For someone who knows nothing about cutting hair, I think this is a great video with a lot of detail!

AJ FAZ: I cut my hair myself for the first time using this video as a guide it’s really helped me a lot thanks

Siseko Ngxazisa: Such a helpful tutorial…Thank you

atplaypics: I've been cutting my own hair since I was 14 (48, now). I'm not a pro. It's just good enough to get by. But I have to say, you're a skilled barber and a great teacher. Thanks for sharing.

Don Young: You’re content is without a doubt top notch, you simplify the process so beginners can understand. One of best on the Tube. Bless you and your family brother.

Also, as I was cutting my three boys hair (who all have different styles) I found myself using your terms during the process..lol I'm one of those ppl that try to perfect my craft on the first try and your right sometimes its better to just leave it alone..‍♀️

Kris Evans: I literally just cleaned up my son following this tutorial! Thank you!

Divine Kiing: man respect to everyone who shows us how to cut our own hair. i cut my hair some years back and it came out good but it’s therapeutic when you go and get your hair cut and you come out cleannnn... but learning how to cut your own hair is very vital. since May, I’ve been getting better and i’m also thinking about going to barber school now. thanks again for the video

Jacqueline Bonner: Extremely patient and educational....Thank you so much!!! Well done, my brother, WELL DONE!!!

ANEYSIA BELCHER: This is very informative, instructive, and much needed. Thank you sir. Cutting my husband's hair today.

Not going to lie I think helped me the most because you didn’t use anything else other than what you actually needthanks bro this shit helped od

Manny V.I.: Thank you. I've been messing my hair up for a while now lmao. And one thing other barbers don't mention or stress is debulking before you fade. I am def going to try that. Thank you sir.

Nolimit_Unc⚜️: Got to admit I was very nervous cutting my own hair but I did a pretty good job … I need to work on fading more but I follow your tutorial and my hair came out good 7 out of 10 besides the fading but thank man

Lamondo Hill II: Much love and thanks for this video brotha. I finally attempted a taper today and it came out decent. Look forward to learning more from you in your videos. Also if you have some time peep my content if you have time. I am building my channel with a little comedy and real talk.

MosleydollMUA: Crazy how a fresh cut can do so much, thanks for this xx

Peej: Great Teacher, Great lesson! Thank you for your wisdom. Real talk, when you were doing the straight razor lines, I held my phone completely still-- before I realized what I was doing!

Chris H: Yo love all the info and step by step instructions. My barber just hit me with a $35 haircut. Time to start maintaining my own joint. Holla at him maybe once a month now.

All Tings Hendriiix: I have attempted several times in between two sets of locks to cut my own hair. Being a female (tomboy at that) it’s hard for me to find a barber who number one is gonna cut my hair exactly how I want it cut and not how THEY think it should be cut or to just be comfortable not only in their chair but in the shop. I have heard barbershop talk go from sports and who got shot, to some homophobic shit by the time I’m in the chair. No thanks. I grabbed a Wahl Home cutting kit for like 28 dollars at Dollar General. Has the cordless trimmers and like 10 guards, everything I need. I felt like I had the concept, but your video gave me the detail and the courage to really do my fades and tapers the way I’m used to! Thank you for this! I also subscribed and watched some of the GCC series. Great job man, keep it up ✊

Arissa McNeal: This was sooooo helpful! I followed all your tips and cut my dad’s hair minus the fade

98JBKB: Just cut my own hair using this video and I’ve gotten nothin but compliments. Thank u my man preciate it ☝

ROK J: Worth the the watch. I have had to learn to cut my own hair because of my work schedule. I got so much out of this video to use. I have a swirl and some thinning. Now I know how to manage them and clean them up when I'm cutting

Juan: As a barber this was a nice explained video for people that never cut their own hair.

ucanthandledatruth01: much respect my good brother, thanks for the time, effort and consideration.

Shawn Myrelle: Man I jumped a mile everytime I seen you using that razor. But this tutorial was amazing! I took so many notes. I already been cutting hair lately, shout out to my little brother letting me practice on his hair. I been making bad mistakes but he a security guard do he don't trip. I know how to do almost everything with natural male hair- except cut. And its time to learn.

James James: Bro much respect! Exactly what I needed tired of these barbers pushing my line back smh thanx!

david Rock: Hey great video! Few questions though. So the short of it is, back in 2013 I had surgery done on my skull. Craniotomy. Basically my question is, due to the surgery which was done on the right side of my head my hair grows a little uneven. Thanks to the scar. Any tips on how I can even that out?
