Wasn'T as sexy as i thought, it'd be hello. How are you my name is lauren. Welcome back to my channel elements of style today, i'm going to give you five ways to keep your hair out of your face that don't involve a headband or a hair tie before i get into any of that. I just want to say this is my regular hair. I have what someone might call normal hair, though there's no such thing as normal hair, but by that i mean it's straight. This is how i dried it. I did dry it with a hair dryer today. Typically, i let it air dry, but i didn't use a straightener. This is what it looks like my hair is pretty thick and it does hold curl well, but just to preface that that's how my hair is be thick red all the things i don't know about. You, but during this whole pandemic and i've been working from home and not going a lot of places. My hair has pretty much ended up in a bun on top of my head and while i like a top knot and it's actually pretty chic now and then it's not a way, i want to wear my hair every single day, one because actually isn't that great. For your hair and cause breakage ends up not feeling great when you wear your hair on top of your head all day, long every single day having my hair down and riding all the time is annoying just because i'm always trying to get it and brush it Out of my face all that to say, i began brainstorming, different ways to keep my hair out of my face and, while headbands are having a moment right now, like the biggest surge since gossip girl brought them back in the late 2000s, headbands tend to give me A headache i've been a frequent sufferer of headaches and migraines and i don't need another reason to have. My head hurt my go-to to keep my hair out of my face. Besides, just hair on top of my head has been a tiny braid which i'll show you at the end, and i still really like that. But i try to reserve that for days that my hair is dirty because i braid it. This part of the hair ends up being a little bit wavy, while the rest of my hair is straight. So i only like to do that right before i wash my hair again and spoiler alert, i probably wash my hair once or twice a week. What'S a girl to do well i'll tell you here are the five ways that i like to keep my hair out of my face these days, all right. First of all, it's not very inventive, but it works hair clips. I got these off of amazon i'll link. It below just heads up everything that i share will be linked below for you, and then i also have a blog post if you want to save that or pin that or whatnot, but all links will be below. I grew up with these. You probably grew up with these. My family called them chip clips, you may call them butterfly clips or even banana clips. The extra large ones which are typically what's called banana clips, are actually trending right now, they're coming back on the scene. Personally, i have continued to use these throughout the years anyway. I also prefer the small over the big just because you can't lay your head back if you're, using the big ones and these hold my hair just fine. If i need more support i'll put both in, but they hold all my hair just fine, i love these because they get my hair out of my face in a pinch, they're, not a ponytailer, so i can do this pretty much with one hand. Typically, it's the other side that i'm doing it pretty much with one hand. If i need to, i can put it all the way up. I can do half up half down. There'S lots of options with these. They don't crease, my hair, they don't cause breakage. So i'm by no means a hair vlogger, but i'm going to show you how i wear them so typically i'll just do this. On top of my head or i'll keep my part which, if you have a middle part, you can keep that it works with that too. I just have a natural side part, but you can just put it like that or a lot of times. I will pile my hair on top of my head and just twist it and clip it. So let me show you the back: here's how i did it, let's see so yeah. This is my most used option. I also will use this when i'm drying my hair. Just to break up the drying and like dry, this part first in the second half, so i use these all the times. I try to keep this one in every room of the house for easy access all right. My next one is a bandana. I like to fold it, take it like this in half and then just kind of roll. It i'll show you the final product, but it's just skinny and you're gon na wear it like a headband, but what's great about this, is that it's not gon na give you a headache. So i've been doing this for a while. I love to do this during the summer to keep my hair out of my face, but i would just make sure to tie it in a square knot which is just right over left left over right, so right over left and then you're doing the same exact One because it's now on the left side so left over right here, so i typically will leave the little bunny ear parts out, but you can also just flip it around see, make sure your little piece stays wrapped. You can flip it around and use it as a headband this way or you can do the knot. Look the knot, look where you just tuck the pieces in and i'll wear this all day, it's fun to do to bring a pop of color. I have them in all different colors. My favorite ones are to buy, are the madewell ones. These are all made well, these are like a more silky, and this is like 100 cotton, but they all wear well. If you want a little bit more dramatic, i really like these silk. Like scarves from amazon. I have two of them. It'S more pinky purple and they're big i'll show you they're a lot bigger, so you're able to be more dramatic and you're just gon na. Do the same thing start in half and then roll it into a skinny line. These give a lot prettier of a knot. Look if you want that vibe. I also love to do a big old bow on my head. So there's the bow! Look! If you just want the knot, you can tuck those pieces and then, of course you can flip it around like i showed you and there's no seam or not, but i love these they're a great option and really budget friendly all right. What i'm going to show you next is a silk hair tie, and i know you think you've heard of them before which you probably have, but not like this one, because i hadn't heard of them until i'd seen this one. Unfortunately, they're pretty much sold out everywhere, but i just wanted to share it. So, silk hair ties are good because they like most of the things i'm sharing now don't cause breakage and don't cause creases. I have the other hair ties that are like the curlicue plasticky ones and then just the stretchy elastic ones, and i use those but most of what i'm showing you here are things i do to my hair after i've just washed it to kind of preserve the Brush as long as possible, and not just throw it up in a ponytail on my head, so this is something i'll use like i'll sleep in this at night. If i just wash my hair or if i just want to keep my hair out of my face and i'm gon na turn around and show you because, basically what you do is you put it in your hair and then you pull these pieces and so the Silk is actually going around your hair and tightening versus the elastic, so the elastic never touches your hair, and you just like loosen it to take it out, really really genius. Now you can't use this to do like a hit, workout or go running, and this is just for very low impact, because this isn't going to keep your hair in like a different hair tie. Would don't go running in this? Don'T complain that you can't go running it because that's not what it's made for so here we go. I typically just do a little pony with this. You can do it a little bit higher, but typically i keep it low up. Next is a french pen or a u-pin or a hair fork whatever you want to call it, i remember seeing these in elementary school in the 90s, i think i had a teacher who used to wear them miss gentry if you're watching this. I think you use these, but this is a four inch hairpin. Most of them are the size on amazon. I found some elsewhere that i also linked below that go up to a size, five and a half inches. I am fine with this four inch one just because i have shorter hair right now, but if you have longer hair, that's especially thick or curly, you might opt for a bigger one. I was really skeptical of these and honestly i had to watch a youtube video on how to use it and i'll link that for you, because again, i'm not going to show you fancy hairstyles with it. I'M just going to show you how i use it, but basically why these are cool is because again it isn't going to cause a crease and it's not gon na cause. Breakage. However, i will say, because my hair is straight whenever i use this and i take it down, it will sometimes kind of like adapt to the twirling of the hair that i put it in. It doesn't crease like a ponytail or wood or something else for a while you can tell like. Oh, i was wearing a hair clip how it was twisted on my hair, because what you do for this is you twist it and i'm gon na turn around. But basically this is curved okay, and so you, what you want it to be, is used against your head. You want the curve to match your scalp. The trick with these is you start with it backwards, so you start with it away from with the curve away from your head, and then you flip it once it's in your hair. So here it is the curve away from your head. You put it through your hair, you flip it and push it in and it not only is now curved with your scalp, but it's holding your hair and it's really confusing i'll. Show it to you and i'll put the youtube video below, because i'm not the master of this, but i do know it works. So here's one way i like to use it so this i like to do more of in a chignon just because i have shorter hair with more layers. If you have long hair, they work better for you in a bun, whereas for me the layers just tend to poke out the important things with this is to make sure you turn your hair counterclockwise when you're twisting it and then also to make sure you get It as tight as possible, so this one's probably the hardest in my opinion but, like i said, i'll, link the youtube video below. Last but not least, we have the spiral bobby pins, which i actually was the most skeptical about these over any of the new things. I tried compared to the french pen, and this is actually a lot easier than the french pen. You basically just put the twist these in at the top and bottom of your bun and make sure not to get them intertwined. You want to twist in different spots. You do not want them intertwined in your hair because it will be very hard to get out, and something i like about this in comparison to the french pen is that you can actually do a top bun on your head, where i really haven't been. Maybe i'm just not good at it yet, but it's harder for me to do a top bun with this. So it doesn't really matter which way you twist in this case, but you do twist and then you literally just spiral one down and one from the bottom into the bun and tada. You can make it obviously a lot prettier. This is just ready for y'all, but look how like sturdy. It is again, i wouldn't run a marathon in it, but it's really nice to keep your hair out of your face and not use a ponytailer. This congeniality word goes to this goes to these spiral bobby pins because i did not have high hopes for them and they're super easy to get out too. They just twist out oops my hair cascaded, but yeah really easy these one in my book. Let me show you what it looks like from behind when i do this. I obviously didn't pay attention to the top part, but that's what it looks like super easy and then three more things i wanted to share. I know i gave you i told you i was gon na have five, but i wanted to share three other things that are oldies but goodies that i just wanted to share, because i do use them they're, not ground, breaking but yeah. I use bobby pins a lot still life hack. This curvy side goes against your head, not on the outside, because it helps keep the hair in place. So maybe you learn something new with that. These i do when i want to do like a half up. Half down and honestly just twist it like, i would a chignon and do a little x. So that's what it looks like, and here it is from the back. I also use a small bobby pins just to like pin my hair to the side again, nothing new. Let'S do a little twisty twist there you go. The other thing i do all the time is a little side braid this, like i said i typically try to reserve for dirty hair, but i'll do it for you right now, even though my hair is freshly washed. Two is just to keep it out of my face, so really pretty. If you want to do like a low bun with it, you could do the spiral bun. You could do a bun with these if you're, talented enough or even clip it back to combine the things. Last but not least, like i said, i'm not a huge headband person just because of headaches, but i have been wearing this one a lot and it's pretty loose. It'S not too tight and i haven't had any headaches from it. So i'll link that one below for sure, because it's a good one, it has this black braided detail and it's just cotton, it's not velvet or textured, so it can be worn year round anyway. I hope you enjoyed these tips. If you have any other ways, you like to keep your hair out of your face that i did not mention please let me know, i'm always looking for different ways to do my hair and to keep it out of my face. So i'll stop touching it and so i'll stop touching my face. If you like this video, please give it a thumbs up and hit subscribe. I can even get the details for this post on elementsofstyle.com and you can follow my instagram and keep up with my everyday life at elmalinas. Thank you so much for watching you.

cj Smith: How many dudes with long hair watching this with me ? Lol

Christina Burdt: This was super helpful from a gal who gets headaches from everything and anything. Ive been trying to avoid hair elastics lately so im so glad i found your video!

Camdon Church: “what’s a girl to do” me: a guy

Aubrée Swart: Thank you! That was very interesting, helpful, and enjoyable to watch.

franl155: I'm visually impaired, which means I have to have my face down close to my work to see what I'm doing; I have long hair which I usually just put back in a pony tail to keep it out of my face - that gets a bit boring but I didn't know any easy alternatives. I do now! so thank you.

amani alm: you’re so gorgeous and i love how your hair part looks on you!! you look so good w this hair color too!! thanks for the tips

Sophia Oury: This is so helpful! I like your vibe!

Classically Composed: This is exactly why I got bangs

MegaBond: I absolutely despise being a girl for this reason. I cut my hair really short once because this was a recurring problem and then everyone assumed I was a lesbian or a dude . I think it's also my fault since my awful genetics make me look like a dude. I absolutely hate how girls NEED to have long hair for society to know they're one. This video has made my daily life more livable and I thank you for that

jamba jackson: How about down sleek middle part with the hair tucked perfectly behind both ears. I love that style with big hoop earrings to finish the look.

Laura C: You have a beautiful hair color That was cute how you had a memory of a teacher who wore those hair clips.

Birdie R: Thank you!!!!

s hsd: thank youu

snoop dog: U are so beautiful
