First thing: when you're trying to cut layers yourself at home, is you want to make sure you're using the right tools? So this is a vent brush? This is something i do sell on my website. It'S got the rubber grip. Something like this is going to really help you get through the knots that, in conjunction with my 25 spray, literally, they go hand in hand, so spray 25 spray in and this is going to be done on wet hair. So, as you can see the it just literally combs right through no knots whatsoever, a great cutting tool and a great spray, so i would suggest doing this right after you wash your hair. You can towel dry it, but really really make sure the hair is wet right and then i would use a comb, a haircutting comb. I sell these on my website shop.thesalongai.com and also, if you use code youtube20, you get 20 off and it's free shipping in the united states. Again, that's code youtube20 youtube20 20 off comb through and you just want to make sure that the hair has no knots and you can comb through it very very easily. So we're talking about the back of the hair, because i know a lot of times. People have a difficult time with the back and they're always asking about you know. How do i do the back? I would do the back and i know yes, it can be difficult because you're going to be doing it yourself and you're gon na have a hard time because you're trying to like comb, but this method is going to be very, very easy. So what i try to do is, and what i suggest is separating the front from the back and the way you go about doing this is you can just literally push the hair aside this way or you can comb it down and give it a little bit Of a push like that - and you see, the hair wants to naturally just separate get this hair out of the way and if you need to clip it or whatever just make sure it's totally not part of the back. So if it's not part of the back you're going to have a much easier time being able to differentiate that, so it just helps you set yourself up for success. So now we've got this all out of the way the front's out of the way the sides are out of the way, and now we can focus specifically on the back. So the first thing is, you know, is taking a section and the way you can do that - and you can do this with the comb - is just kind of slice through that's what's great about this comb and you see that little that little gap right there. That is what helps you section, the hair. So what you want to do is you want to take the comb and just do a horizontal slice, horizontal straight across think of the horizon horizontal section straight across like this, then what you're going to do is you're going to comb through with the fine teeth of The comb, what this is right, what this piece is this is your section. This is the first section of hair. This is going to tell you how short and show you how short you're going to be cutting your layers. What you don't want to do is cut the hair right, let's get a little closer here. What you don't want to do is cut the hair to where you know you cut it this short, and then you really want your layers to be much longer. That'S going to be an issue so really determine how short you want your layers to be so just for cutting and visual purposes. We'Re going to cut that much off. So what you're going to do is cut straight across and you're going to hold on to that section hold on to it, don't let it go you're going to hold on to it, and that is going to be kind of your your tool or your guide for The rest of the haircut, so here we are on the back of the head right here and now. What we're going to do is we're going to take a section right behind that? Okay, so, as you can see right here, this is the back of the head and we're going to comb this straight up this way and what's going to happen, let's flip this around, so you can see this is what you're going to see in the mirror comb. This straight up, and now what i want you to do is focus on going side to side, okay, comb, this straight up and you're, going to cut that. You always want to try to hold on to a piece that you previously cut, because that is going to be your guide right. It'S almost like if you're tracing tracing a drawing you need. You need that underlying uh guide that you can trace. So here now is the other side and there you go so what we've done is we've created two sections of layers right here and they are even if they're, if you want to check to make sure it's balanced, you can hold everything straight up and cut straight Across and look that's perfect, you have a perfectly balanced, even section, so what you're going to do again is we're going to continue to comb this all straight up and what i'm doing and from the back of your hair you're going to be combing just like this. So i'm trying to mirror if you were combing from the back. There is the guide right, the section we cut before and you want to try to hold on to that and comb it straight up to that front piece and there we go and then you can. You can always use this comb right through here. To take another section, if the hair gets in the way, then just simply move that hair out of the way that you cut before. So you don't have too much hair in your hand right, you don't have to hold on to all of it in one shot, because it may end up being a lot of hair. Just push it aside, because once you have your your guide, then you're good to go, so you always want to then comb right. You want to comb. The hair, then cut it, comb it and cut it. So what the goal is really is to bring all the hair straight up like this, to where you're not cutting any more hair right, there's going to be hardly anything to cut, and that's because you've run out of hair, which is a good thing. You'Ve run out of hair to cut, and it means all right put the scissors down, stop you're good you've got everything blended and the reason i'm i'm suggesting to do it. This way is because the hair will be as blended as you can possibly get all right. You'Re going to comb through like that like so and now, the key to this is that it's all seamless so because of the layering into here. This is really going to be great. The the issue is down to the bottom here. If you can get all of this right, if you want, you can even bring it out towards the side if you're combing your hair, it means let's spin this around. It means you're going to be combing out this way, you're going to be grabbing all of your hair and combing out. This way what you can do is you can hold it on an angle like this to make sure that that's all blended, that's all blended right into there. Let'S do that on this side, so we're going to take all the hair throughout the bottom and you can comb on top make sure when you're combing, you're combing different directions right, there's not just one way to comb. You want to comb on top of it. You want to comb underneath you may start to create some new knots, so you got to really make sure you're combing there's some excess hair right there. That needs to come off. So we're going to cut that and that's going to help kind of blend this. All in the next thing is, you know, working into the top, and i do have videos on layering, but it's the same thing, but with the top, because you have a lot more control. I like to go down the middle, the corners and then the sides. So the middle - let's bring this straight up. What you're going to do is you're going to look for that guide that you previously cut before, so that guide you previously cut before that's going to really help you stay balanced and say, even and literally what you're doing is you're just following all the way to The very very front we're going to comb this all straight up and then there's the guide and we're going to cut off what's on, what's behind it now for the corners, it's all about bringing the hair out from the head like so and if you elevate it, This way, the more you bring it up this way, the longer it's going to be right kind of like what we did in the back, so you bring everything up to that one point and you're leaving the length this way. It'S really really crucial if you do want to leave the length, because if you cut too much down and through here you're going to lose that length and you're going to create some gaps, then you repeat the same thing on the other side, one last little tip Is if you want to check for balance, you bring everything out from the head, like almost like a mohawk section like this, and what we're going to do is we're going to cut straight across, and this is going to really really show you. If there's any sort of hair right, that's unbalanced or that needs to come off and for you, what you want to do is just comb it and then turn your head a little bit to the side just to see, but in through here you should have no Problems, and if you do this properly like how i showed you you're, going to be able to layer the back of your head, no problem again, it's just about bringing everything straight up, keeping that one section that guide and you should be good to go youtube20 for 20 off thanks so much for watching you
