Pros and Cons revisited, now that Obi is nearly one year old. I discuss shedding, coat, color, tear stains, playfulness, and neutering.

Hey everybody: it is Jennifer and Obi or obi-wan Kenobi. If you happen to follow him on Instagram - and I was looking at my channel the other day - and I admit I don't look too often, but I realized that the pros and cons video had quite a few views and that was filmed a really long time ago. So I thought you all probably Odin. I owed you an update because that was shot when he was a kitten and Obi changed a little bit since then, so he's almost one year old now I just noticed some general changes in him as he's gotten older. So I thought I would share with you what some of those things are so right, Obi, um so I'll see how long he sticks around his pretty camera shy. But the first thing I want to clarify is: I had said on that previous video, that exotic Shorthairs don't shed and I was using Obi as my example. I think he had a kitty coat on because things have changed and he's definitely a shutter. Now he's a major shutter, in fact like, I think I have a tornado of fur around me as I'm talking. I think I have some in my mouth too, so he's a big shutter, but so flip that to the con it was a pro, but on the flip side he has like the softest fur, and I wish you guys could touch him right now. I had a chinchilla when I was in college and I sort of think he feels like a chinchilla not as soft. He doesn't have to like I'm and he doesn't have to like roll in volcano ash. So that's good, but anyways he's he's way soft, but he does shed. So that's that's. One change in Obi he's also calmed down a little bit, so he used to be pretty wild and crazy and he liked to sleep with us at night, but otherwise he was a crazy kitty. But now he likes to hang out with me for most of the day, while I'm at work, he sits with me. He has about two or three hours of craziness in the morning where he bounces off the walls literally and jumps around and does all kinds of silly cat antics. And then he sleeps for a while. And then he has like a second round around the evening. And then he goes to bed with us, so he still sleeps with us at night. He really is a people's cat. I think that's the case for all exotic Shorthairs. I contributed to the breed. I think Persians are supposed to be the same way. There are just people, cats, they love to be around people. So even right now, even though it's not probably can't work he's right behind the camera sort of checking things out, that's awesome and I I'm so glad we got an exotic shorthair for the reason. So he's not as wrong and crazy he's mellowed out a little bit as would be expected with an adult cat, but he still has his playful side so, but just a slight change there and then otherwise I his color. So just just something to know. If you get an exotic shorthair, maybe this is the case with all cats, but we thought we've gotten a white cat, but with time he turned into sort of a mellow, yellow cat. So technically he's called a flame Lynx cat because he has really really dark orange ears. But he also has a swirl pattern around his body and around his tail and on his paws, which makes my husband super happy because he always wanted an orange cat. But he's sort of like a Polaroid, camera or Polaroid picture. He just he's evolving with time and he keeps getting darker. So I guess that's something just good to know about cats in general is that they do get darker as they get older. I didn't know that at first and then the other thing that's changed about him, and this is just a personal change, I'm not as stringent about cleaning his tears. I feel like, as he's gotten older, that tears don't run down his face as much. They seem to be better contained in his eyeball and then also because he has the darkening underneath his cheeks if he does have steam stains they're, not as noticeable to me so just from a maintenance perspective. I'M not as on top of that, and it doesn't bother me it doesn't bother. Abby doesn't look that great, but at the end of the day, he's he's just a cat and I'm not trying to show him at any big shows or anything. So it meets our needs. So that's really about it and then the only other thing that I'll mention is at six months. We did fix him and he recovered really well. So there was nothing monumental to update you all on, but I did want to tell you that you didn't use the e-collar he's clumsy enough as it is and when we put the collar on him he was. He was literally like running into walls. He was scooping. The food up into his collar and it was getting all over his face and his water. I was worried. He was getting dehydrated because, like his tongue couldn't extend far enough into the bowl, I think that being a flat cake flat faced cat and then having the e-collar on on top of it, it's just creating all kinds of messes. So if you're wondering what I did anecdotally, I didn't use it. That'S probably not what if that would tell you to do, I'm sure it's probably better less risk of infection if you wear the collar, but it wouldn't beat yourself up over it. If you choose not to wear it so anyways that is it that's my update. I'M gon na commit to doing more of these videos. I'M gon na try to do some better quality. I think on the next one, I'm gon na use my camera and I'm gon na try to look actually into the spot where I'm supposed to be looking at instead of out in the middle of nowhere. Because I got some comments about that. So still adjusting to all this so yeah and he's turning one May 4th. So may the fourth be with you all and we're gon na probably do a recipe, video, I'm thinking of doing a little kitty cake for arm. So stay tuned that'll be coming next and I hear my oven beeping. So I'm gon na take that as a cue that I need to go. I don't want my fish to catch on fire, so I hope y'all are having a great day and thank you so much for tuning in. If you have any questions about exotic Shorthairs or if there's something that you want to see, stick it in the chat box down there and I will be sure to read it and I will respond or do a video. So, thank you all again and have a good one. Bye,

R. KOVALEVSKAYA new channel: My exotic shorthair Binkxee Chardonnay is such a love i got her as a kitten from a breeder and shes now 3 years old. shes just so much joy she is EXTREMELY obsessed with me she follows me around and constantly wants my attention and will lay on anything that doesnt involve me giving her attention. Shes all white and she gets crazy random outbursts of energy. I am so happy with her. Shes more like a dog with the affection she literally Loves to love :)

S Betancourt: I have two exotic shorthairs and I can definitely agree with you on the shedding when they both we’re kittens they didn’t shed at all now they are like shed machines lol

Michele McGill: I have a 5yr old exotic short hair. He is a lovely deep beige colour. I brush him every 2nd day to keep the hair out of the house as he sheds a lot. He loves people, has such a placid nature, one of the easiest going cats I've ever owned.

Mathilda Lundkvist: Mine also changed, he went from a really rich brown tabby color to a dark gray tabby color :)

Charlotte Kay: Just found your channel as I am about to buy a ESH! Already love your channel!

LTY: Your cat is so cute! What kind of food do you recommend for exotic shorthair? :)

Anthony C: Why do you only have 38 subs??? This is pure quality

Grandmami: So if I put a cat shirt on him at all times? Shedding solved? LOL I’m dying for an excuse to let the heavy shedding slide, I’m a clean freak but they’re so adorable

safanamakhdoomable: Where do you keep the food? Does he mess with the plants?

BLNK BLNKRSN: An old man looking cat is way better than a normal cat.
