Hi guys today, I'm going to show you guys how I plop my hair and, what's the after effect, I actually had no idea what popping was and then a lot of people commented on my hair, routine, video and they're, like you should try popping. I looked up some tutorials and I've. I'Ve tried it a few times and I still have a little bit of like issues with it but we'll get into it. Overall I mean it works like really good. To be honest, so, let's just get into it. I have adjusted a few things from my original hair care routine. I used to dry my hair in a regular towel. Now I use a microfiber towel, which I got from Amazon they're like really cheap, and I use way more product than I used to use so I'll just go through it really quick. I don't want this video to be boring, but basically, when I'm in the shower, that is when I brush my hair. Now I use a wet brush and I wait for the conditioner to a bit in my hair for like a minute or two, then I brush it through and that's the only time I brush. My hair is really when it's wet in the shower with conditioner, so that it just slips right on the room. As soon as I get out, I don't put it in a towel. I just leave, it literally dripping wet. I quickly do my face routine and then I add in my products, so I have tried going silicone free and I don't like it. I definitely prefer all of my Moroccan oil products more than anything else. They are what make my hair look and feel the best. So I'm gon na just keep using them and I will use a clarifying shampoo that has sulfate in it so that it can really break down the silicones. I mainly use that, like once a month I'll put in my products, I split my hair in half and while my hair is like literally soaking wet, I will put the products in. I use like multiple pumps of like everything now, just because the more than my own air, I use the microfiber towel to dry it, and I do it a scrunching motion and then, after that, all I do is I get a t-shirt and just lay it out In front of me, I just use this cotton t-shirt. Is it gone 50 % cotton polyester? I think you're supposed to use he's cotton. I don't know you put the sleeves up there at the top of your head and you just basically gently lay your hair into it, with it still being like really wet with all your products in it, and then I fold back over and then I tie it Around in the back - and I just go to sleep, it's that easy when you pop your hair, I've heard that it will really make your hair absorb all the products more and it will keep it frizzy and really shiny. As you can see, my hair looks very shiny. I'Ve not done anything to it today. I literally just took it out of the thing but yeah and my curls they curl from the root. Now a lot of people will also diffuse their hair after they take it out, but I don't do that so yeah I just wake up in the morning. I take it out, it's so easy, that's the only way I can sleep in wet hair. I can't sleep in one hair any other way or it will look terrible. So I love that because I used to only be able to wash my hair in the morning, but now I can do it at night. If I need to so yeah. The only problem that I do have is plopping and if you guys have any advice for this leave it in the comments it really flattens the top of my hair. Like the thing I don't know like ooh, oh my gosh. So when I wear it, I have to like loosen it up and like flip my hair over and then it's fine, but that's kind of annoying, because I wear my hair in the middle part normally, so why does that happen? I mean I know it's because the t-shirt is like pressing down on this like it's so flat. You know, like I, don't know what the deal is with that, and sometimes I just take like pins and do that, but it just looks like no volume. I don't know what's up with that, do you guys have any advice? Let me know, but yeah that's pretty much it. That'S my flopping routine. That'S the only way I can sleep with wet hair. I think it brings my curls like a whole level or two up. So, thank you so much for watching if you made it. This far comment the color pink and I will see you guys soon. Bye

Taylor Laios: *more wavy videos:* my naturally wavy hair routine: https://youtu.be/wb_KykAIqvQ <-- ALL PRODUCTS HERE my hair journey: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gu1gvTYvrj4 10+ hairstyles for wavy hair: https://youtu.be/PMwvkl9XEJs

Maricarmen González: Growing as a Latina: you can’t go to sleep with wet hair or you’ll die

Carolien de Vaan: "I use way more products than I did before" I think every girl with wavy hair can relate to that

Jenna June: Crazy how this curly hair is coming back in style. We didn’t have words like “plop/plopping” for it when I was younger.

Katie M.: So refreshing to see a curly-haired girl who understands that silicone is not the devil.

Aiyana Little Fox Bazinet: Well this was actually extremely helpful! I wash my hair at night, due to an OCD i had from childhood. I just feel cleaner washing at night. I lose all my curls when I sleep with it out and my hair is roughly 2B\2C type when I do the CGM properly. So I'm happy i found your channel. Thanks girl!

Tabby Patrick: I plop it where I have to tie the sleeves on the front of my head instead of tying the sleeve on the back of my head. This way the curls sit more on top of my head instead of the tshirt pulling my hair back. This helps the roots not flatten as much.

keira kingsley: lmaoo anybody else trying this over corona break bc they didn't know how it was gonna turn out??

N Valleria: I've tried plopping overnight but my hair would still be pretty wet in the morning. What I do now is wash my hair around 7/8pm, let it air dry for a few hours and when I go to bed I put all my hair in a satin bonnet and go to sleep like that and in te morning my hair is dry and nice and curly :) I think the reason this works better for me is because when I plop all my hair just sticks together and is too tightly pressed to my head, whereas in a bonnet my hair has more room to dry and move.

abigail solorio: i love how plopping leaves my curls but i agree with it leaving the roots flat! i’ve tried adjusting the tee shirt at my forehead to not fully flatten my hairline and that’s sort of helped. i’ll usually only plop if i’m doing a half up hairstyle. pink

Destiney Carr: Girl I absolutely love your channel. I have the same hair type as you, I bleach my hair and I struggle with extremely dry and oily hair. Your hair-care routines have helped soo much, like I would straighten my hair every single day because curly hair is alot of work and I ended up killing all of it. You're gorgeous and definitely goals. Pink

Kirsten Podritske: I’m here because I watched your video about how you didn’t know your hair was curly, and wow, this resonated with me! My hair has always been frizzy and had a weird wave to it and I ALWAYS straightened for hers and years! But lately I’ve noticed when I air dry it for a few hours without brushing it, it forms better waves/curls! And then I came across your video and now realize I definitely have curly hair! I’m definitely a new subscriber! Your voice is so soothing and you explain things so great!! I will be trying your plopping method tomorrow and I’m so excited! Thank you for making these kinds of videos!!!! Pink!!!!!

Caitlin Ravenscroft: You hair is literally goals

Danielle k: This is gonna sound weird but I like love your face shape

Strauberry _87: Pink!! Thank you for the video! Your hair is GORGEOUS. You’re motivating me to try and wear my hair wavy more often. It’s such a struggle for me I give up easy and just straighten it way too often ☹️ It’s just so much faster for me. But I wanna give my natural hair a chance to be better! So thank you!

Emily Burton: I’m a wavy-ish girl and I’ve got to say, your videos have helped me the MOST with my natural hair

Suhanna De Silva: Your hair turned out beautifully! Every time I try plopping overnight it just get hella flat ‍♀️

sabina s: THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart, I wasn’t convinced about the whole CGM because of the amount of time you need! I’m a low maintenance girl and I always go to bed with my hair wet, will deffo try this method next time I wash my hair!‍♀️

Sarah C: My hair would still be wet in the morning if I did that, ha!

Caitlyn Sofia: Your hair looks gorgeous!! I've tried different drying methods with my hair but not plopping yet, I'll have to try it! Personally, I love having volume at the top of my head and when my hair dries a certain way and I don't have it, I'll just try styling it again. I'll take a spray bottle full of water and spray the top of my hair, then comb through to make sure the water is distributed. I'll gather my hair into a pouf at the front, take a hair clip and clip it in place! Then I'll just let it dry completely. (Someone else mentioned clipping your hair, I'm not position if this is the same thing but it sounds like it!) Good luck and thanks for the video!

Bebe Priscilla: Girl thank you! I lost so much hair by using the curly girl method. My hair likes silicone but I haven’t used silicone in a year now because I see all these youtubers say not too. What was I thinking ‍♀️. I tried diva curl and it made my hair so dry. I would try all these products that were recommended by youtubers and it just wasn’t working for me. But once I heard you say you use silicone because it’s good for your hair it clicked to me I’m going back to my original routine before the curly girl method.

R R: I did this last night and let me tell you I have a long bob right now and I’m on my journey to getting my curly hair back I woke up looking like a lion with this method of plopping SHORT hair girls please be aware

Elizabeth Shurtleff: I use the small clips to pin my hair along the sides to give it the volume and doesnt go flat. Just be careful not put the clip on a wave weird. But this helps the flatness and gives you more volume. You can put then in the front and middle of your hair looks like where your part divides. Also make sure you get clips that don't dig in when you sleep. :) love your videos.

Kaitlin Key: I only just started my hair journey, for the longest time I thought I had straight hair because when I would brush it wet it would dry with very slight texture. Only recently when I forgot to brush after a shower did I realize I have some natural waves! So excited and I’ve been watching your channel a lot!

Ava Marlene: Omg this is literally going to be a life saver!!! Thanks for sharing. I could never figure out how to sleep on my curly hair.

Ali Victoria: Love your curls! To help with volume at the root, as soon as your take it out I would flip your head upside down and use your fingers spread out and shake out your hair like giving yourself a scalp massage really fast while upside down! It helps me get volume everytime i feel my hair is flat! After you do this you could use a tiny bit of your fave hair spray and it should hold!

SimplySabrina: Pink! I can’t wait to try this out! I always hated my unruly barley wavy hair! I think you may have just explained to me how to take care of my hair!

Sophia Cromwell: To add volume at the roots... BEFORE YOU PLOP, insert several metal pin curl clips at your roots where you want the volume (I always pay extra attention to my crown area). If you’re not sure how to use the clips, look up “Medusa clipping” & then modify the concept for your hair. :)

Kaitlin Key: I basically do this exact routine. I will shower and then plop my hair for a little while I do my skin care. Then I take it out and diffuse lightly till I feel a cast forming. After I do this I put it back in the plop. I find this helps my hair be completely dry in the morning and lets me manipulate my waves a bit more before they completely set

artemissss: This was so helpful. Thank you so much

Lisa Spence: Hi! You're beautiful and I'm starting to plop my hair as well, I had the same problem with the roots being flat (my hair is so thick and long) I started looking up ways to fix this... I bought some clips and I put them at the roots when its wet and plop. The clips will give you the extra lift at the roots and just shake it out in the am!!❤

itiskelpy: Is your hair still wet in the morning? My hair is always still like 60% damp in the morning when I do this

Anna Hawks: Love this! Gonna try this next!! Also- no hate- I used to be the same way about silicone free. Thought it was the worst idea bc my hair looked horrible with natural products. Buttt, I stuck it out for a few months and I will never go back to silicone products! Silicones are a temporary fix. Just food for thought! Of course your choice!

Kamryn Rodriguez: watching your hair videos made me embrace my natural hair ❤️ my fried ends thank you

Kat BeWitched: Damn, your hair is amazing. I’m definitely trying this. I’m trying to avoid heat products on my hair. Thank you!

Kirsten Nightshade: I use pin curlers or duck bill clips along the length of my part at the roots to prop up my hair for volume when it’s drying. I lift the hair up and put the clip in perpendicular to my scalp. Works great!

Hope Bray: Your hair is beautiful. I’m just tossing some thoughts your way! :) I think plopping is causing your waves/curls to look wonky in some areas. Also because your hair is being confined to a space your root will always dry flat. You might want to consider hover diffusing or air drying depending on what you have time for. Sleeping in a satin bonnet is also great when your hair is dry because it allows you to maintain your wave pattern. I have really curly hair and my bonnet has saved my life. I can actually wear my hair down for 3 days in a row now without adding extra product!

Anuva J.: Girl my hair would be tangled as heck if I slept like that but I’m still gonna try it Thanks for the video!! New sub :)

Gi Veríssimo: Eu amei muito, irei testar❤

Emmalee Crick: When I plop my hair I do the t shirt the other way so the tie in on the front of my hair like on my forehead and that way it’s loose on the top of my head and doesn’t flatten. That might help :)

Brandy Prentice: My Ancestry traits stated I had wavy hair. I have always thought I had really frizzy, brittle straight hair but after watching this video, I bought the Curly Girl Handbook and am determined to take better care of my new found wavy hair.

Lottie F: Hi! Does anyone know how to do this without your curls looking damp but the morning? I’ve tried this method once before but my curls looked really damp even though they were dry I’m really struggling to embrace my natural hair so any help would be appreciated thank u!

Savana Fletcher: This is probably gonna be the cure to all my problems lol bc I refuse to get up early in the morning just to do my hair ❤❤❤❤

Lenalight: I’m 34 now and I’ve used silicone products and sulfate products my whole life (obviously clarifying my scalp when needed). I don’t use a lot of products—less is better. My hair is four feet long, curly, and healthy. Use what is best for your hair. To create volume at the top is to push your wet hair forward ans style it at the top and then use small claw clips to secure the top of your head (there are tutorials on how to do that) and then rest of your hair plop as usual. ❤️

loraelise: You have beautiful curls, a shame to see the backlash you’ve received from other videos for referring to your hair as curly.....because it is. You have curls, not waves so ignore the idiots who don’t know the difference. Keep being your beautiful self xx

Taylor Nothdurft: A little hit for when it come to ploping your hair, I have wavy/curly hair. All my life I've struggled to manage my hair bc it is SUPER THICK and it goes down to my butt. I've started using aussie mirlicle curl for everyday routines and marcan oil products for when I want my hair to be more defined and neat. When I plop my hair after the shower, I tip my head completely upside down, take the bottom of my shirt and tie it in a little tie on my hairline above my neck. Then I grab the rest if the t shirt and I place it over that. I then twist the sleeves until they reach the top of my head then suffice them with a knot. This leaves my hair voluminous and bouncy, while also leaving you with your smooth shiny texture! You should really try it, it works wonders for me

Gaelle Menard: I used to plop my hair overnight but then an hairdresser told me that it is very damaging for the hair to stay close in a wet place for that long. I stopped doing that but if you get the results you want then keep going

Kate S: To avoid the flat top, turn the tshirt the other way around so that the sleeves tie at the top of your head. There will be a bit of flatness along the hairline, but the top will have lots of room to breath.

Kreature Kreated: So no one has ever taught me how to take care of anything for myself, no skin care, hair care, how to shave. Nothing. So here I am almost 30 and my hair is frizzy like in your old pictures. I'm definitely not completely hair illiterate but its obviously not healthy. I'm starting to think I have actually curly hair. Like beachy spiral curls but right now it's a mess...

Katie Mills: Pink! this. Try “fluffing” your hair in the middle part just before you put it into the tshirt, that should help with it being so flat on top while drying.

Felly: Advice for roots and volume, try applying less product on your roots. Even when conditioning, less on the roots. Work up to the roots but don’t put product directly on it. Adds a lot of weight and will weigh down the hair there. When brushing, brush hair horizontally instead of vertically. Sounds weird I know but it does help

presley l: Omg this is so helpful cause I have almost the exact same hair as her ❤️

Jean Brooks: Pink, I find the top of my hair is also flattened too when using a tshirt. Now I use a satin sleep cap and some large clips on hold my waves on top of my head, with varied results.

Escape_music: A great way of getting control of your hair is something I do which is put it in a very low ponytail and leave it overnight. This is good for people with huge hair xx

Madison Annabelle: I've been having a hard time plopping lately. Granted, I desperately need a hair cut, but I think that may just be highlighting my issues with it. When I take it out, and flip my hair out of it (and out of the upside down position that my hair was in when I plopped) all my clumps just break apart and it dries really frizzy and undefined. Does anyone else have this problem??

Erin L: Thanks for the videos. Maybe you’ve covered this in another video but I am curious what you do on nights/mornings when you don’t wash your hair since I know you said you don’t wash every day. Do you just wet it at night and plop? Do you put product in it again the next day? Thank you! I’m trying to help my 11 year old daughter who has wavy hair very different from mine.

Cheryl Ardis: I get into shower and do hair first, so the conditioner stays on my hair as long as it takes me to shower. It's thr first thing I do, and rinsing hair is the last thing I do before getting out. With as cold as water as I can take. I personally have found this one little difference made a huge impact on my hair. I've not used a hair dryer in y-e-a-r-s. I'm afraid to try them. I keep being told they are a lot better now, compared to 15 years ago when I think was probably the last time I used heat. I'm chicken

Tayler Holt: I usually use a scrunchy to VERY loosely keep my hair on the top of head while it dries through the night. That’s how I get my hair to look good and get a lifted root as well. P.S. Pink

Fatima Majed: I was thinking for the past 2 days of a way to sleep with my hair wet and now you did this ♥️ thx

kye :3: didn’t even realize i had truly wavy hair until recently, excited to try this out

Emily McDonald: When I plopped, it looked absolutely amazing when I first took it out. But after about a hour, POOF! It turned into a big huge frizzy mess. I don't think I was touching it or layed down or anything so I am very confused as to what happened

urmomsayshi: Okay I am new here and almost 14. I thank you for your videos because I didn’t know that my hair was curly and It is damaged so thank you for helping me and trying to correct my hair.

Eif: Ok it’s kind of difficult to explain but Before putting your hair in the t shirt- try letting it Fall like it would normally with your hair in that middle section, and then take some small sections of hair right on the top and kind of bend it over and clip it with a small hair clip while it’s pulled and popped up a bit. So that it keep sitting like that with the clip on. Do that with a couple of sections hair and clip them individually and then wrap in like normal. If you do this the right way I guarantee you have fullness on the top when you untie and unclip the next morning. Hope it makes sense? I do this always- works like a charm Oh and by the way - PINK

Grainne 99: What product do you use to keep your waves/curls from falling out?? Gel or mousse and what brand?

Alysha Armstrong: I just started testing out methods like plopping and everything for my decently curly hair (3a-3c). What works best for me is just scrunching my hair for a bit upside down, plopping for about an hour, taking it out of the plop laying my head down with my hair in a bit of a pile on top of my head on my pillow with a satin pillowcase. Then I just hang there for an hour or so reading or watching YouTube then right before I go to sleep, I tie my hair up on top of my head with a long cotton sock then lay all my hair above my head. That’s been the best way I’ve found to keep everything from falling flat and still relatively frizz-free BUT I use a gel and curl smoothies in my hair so I don’t know how it would really do without that extra hold to keep them from frizzing. Honestly, satin pillowcase or bonnet would probably be key for both holding volume (not squishing down the curls) and frizz control.

MaryJaneB: I plop my hair but I don’t sleep on it because my curls will be all wonky! Your hair is gorgeous btw

Sierra Eining: You should do a video on how you refresh your curls from day to day, unless you wash it everyday? I only wash my hair every 3 days and after the second day it’s just not cute anymore

Alex Adams: I get a good 2-3 days of really good curls when I plop overnight.

Tamy Hope: For your loss of curly hair on the top you can fix it hun. You can tie your hair into a messy bun but it has to be kind of complex you have to make sure your top hair section isn’t pulled as that will make you lose your curls at the top. I suggest make a separate tiny bun for top hair without really pulling them. Continue the rest of the routine and in morning top hair won’t be as flat. Hope this makes sense

Alicia: I have a square jaw too and side parts look better on us anyways! I love the way your hair looks when its parted to the side and super voluminous.

sylvia mitchell: Yay I finally found someone with the same curl pattern!

N N: Hi, here is my tip; use a curler - hair roller (sticky one) on the front section of you're hair and do the rest of you're hair as u are used to doing it. Much love from the Netherlands!

ksur1991: If you haven’t tried it yet, part your hair to the side to help with the flat top parts. That would be my advice!

brittany sorich: Get a diffuser!!! They dry your hair quick and prevent damage from sleeping on wet hair! It also boosts volume, curl definition and adds shine! I use bed heads diffuser but any one would work perfectly!!

Gracie.the.moon. Girl: Use mousse at your roots and flip your head over so your hair falls over your face and fluff at the root. You’ll get more volume. Check out India Batson’s channel. She has beautiful 2C hair.

amry galaxy: To fix the issue of the flattened crown tie your hair so that it rests atop your head instead of in a low bun! This will increase volume rather than hinder it

Feena: Watching your videos you made me think about all of my frizz and it's because I have wavy/curly hair. my mom recently told me that I had curly hair when I was a little girl and then some lady butchered my hair and cut it like a boy.. I will try the techniques you have shown in your videos. and this plopping thing will eventually make it on my list of things to try... I noticed when I wash my hair it definitely has some waves/curls in it and my hairdresser noticed the same thing.

Shelby White: When I plop my hair, I use a long sleeve shirt and usually cross the sleeves and then tie them in the front, making it not flatten the front of the hair. I also split my hair in the middle and I have been trying to get it to it’s wave that it is.

Abigail Clubb: color pink ;) thank you so much for this video! i have really similar hair to yours and im so grateful i found you because now i can learn abt how to actually care for it! <3

meep ster: You should try the pineapple method ! It works really good as well n keeps volume

makeupbyaarushiagarwal: If u love middle parting and it flattens, u can do middle parting in zig zag pattern before wrapeeing t-shirts, once u unwrap the tee u can do middle parting as normally u wud do

Sapphire K: I think diffusing in the morning is to kinda push the root back up, maybe try diffusing the top upside down?

Isabela: i can’t thank u enough !! this video helped me out a ton <333

FaithPaintandBerries: Ok I found a much better way to wrap this plop. I have my hair in this now. First time trying . I’m excited to see what it looks like in the morning thanks for the vid!

mela brownleaf: you can use a volume mousse for the roots!! and can use it dry :D

babydollgoddess: Pink Clip up only the crown before using the t shirt. I’d never heard of plopping. I squeeze water out of my hair by scrunching from the bottom, then let it partially dry. When damp, I add product (I use - Frizz Ease for curls. I separate chunks of my hair and finger comb to make locks, use the Frizz Ease, and finger- curl the lock. (Just to train the locks to hang together from the root.) At the end, I pin up my crown with a claw clip. If it’s before bed, I skip the clip and toss my hair up over my pillow and sleep as normal. I wake up with volume all over (separate locks of curls help). Run my fingers through, and I’m ready to go! (Profile pic is a wig. )

Nicole Allan: I tried this the other day worked like a charm

adriblossom: I don’t plop but I put my hair into a messy bun on top of my head every night and it works well to maintain my waves and gives extra volume. But I think I’ll try this plopping method tonight instead.

Julia: If you have super tangly hair, what do you do to detangle between washes? I love how my hair looks the first day when I only brush my hair in the shower but after that it gets way too tangled

Zoe Gomez: When I plop I like to gently put my fingers under my hair near roots and shake so I get some separation from my scalp. Adds more volume

kea hearts planning: Have you tried clips at the roots to life for volume prior to plopping? That might help w keeping the volume while sleeping/ drying.

Larissa Elle : I just did a video on my channel for heatless over night curls...super easy and no hair products. You should give the technique I've learned from a girl named Marcela Tumas! I'm sure it would work with air-dried waves! I'm going to try this 'plop' method you've shown here, I've got similar waves in my hair. Great video my love!! xoxo

krissy: I found this and I tried it. It looks I did a deva cut and I’m so happy

Jennifer Muñoz: To get rid of flatness ruff it up a little bit in the top and dont put the shirt too tight put it a little bit looser in the front that should do the trick

Mclar4: I tried it, my hair is a 2c/3a, shoulder length and I woke up with beautifuull waves, it lasted fot half a day then it started to lose it's shape, but the result was great for me, considering the little amount of effort. I will definitely do it again, tankss

Sweettart 22: I use tiny little clear hair clips when I want volume or I will take a vented brush and lift at the root and spray with hairspray and blow dry immediately. Don't use too much or it will not be free flowing.

Abi p.: Trying this right now hope it works in the morning!

Angie M: Does anyone know the difference between using a silk wrap vs. cotton material for wrapping your hair?

Danielle Salinas: What product do you use on your hair before plopping?

Julia Wilson: p i n k. I’m trying this out rn! My hair is plopped haha
