In this video, we're going to tell you seven reasons why you should not get an oriental short hair cat. These cats have a distinct look with their big ears, they're active they're fun. They can be great cats, but they may not be for everyone and in this video, we're gon na share seven reasons why this cat may not be best for you. So let's get started with number one. The number one reason why the oriental shorthair cat may not be best for you is because they will take over your home. This cat is active and curious. Oh yeah and they're super athletic, so they're able to jump get on the counter get on the couch jump up into the window. They'Re going to be knocking things over. You just don't know what this cat's going to do, but if you're up to being entertained, then this cat's going to be great for you. But if you want a more mild cat, that's not gon na take over your entire house. Maybe the oriental short hair is not the cat for you and you should look to another breed but, like we said earlier, if you have an active home and you're up to be entertained, then this cat will definitely do that because they're going to be all over The place you'll never know where they're going to be, they can be on the bed window. You name it this cat's going to take over your home, but be very entertaining the number two reason why an oriental short hair cat may not be best, for you is because they have separation, anxiety, this cat loves their owners, loves their families, loves an active home And when it's quiet and they're all alone, they can get anxious, they don't like that and then they can get destructive. They get very curious. They go finding things on their own. This means scratching, maybe going the bathroom at places they shouldn't so it'll be up to you as the owner to make sure that somebody's around most of the time. This cat cannot be left alone for long periods of time, otherwise they can be pretty destructive. So this cap may not be best for you if you're gone for long periods of time. The number three reason that an oriental short hair cat may not be best for you is because they are very smart. This cat's very smart and needs mental enrichment to keep them happy and healthy. So it'll be up to you to make sure that you give your cat cat toys play with them with lasers. Do things to keep them engaged, keep them hunting keep them looking for things, because if you don't they're going to get bored and they're going to get destructive, so if you can keep them busy and as you as the owner, keep them happy and healthy by playing With them and keeping their mind engaged, then this cat will be great. The number four reason why an oriental shorthair cat may not be best for you is because they like a busy home if you're somebody that lives alone or is gone most of the time or it's quiet around your house. This cat's gon na get bored pretty easily, but if you've got a lot going on kids other animals, other cats, then this cat's gon na thrive, they love activity, they love looking at things. They love, jumping playing and being active with the family. So if you have that it'll be great, but if you have a quiet home, you may want to look to another cat, that's more docile that likes to just hang and chill with its owner number. Five reason why an oriental shorthair cat may not be best for you is because they can be pretty talkative. This cat can be noisy at times, especially when they want food or attention. So if you're, looking for a quieter cat or a cat that won't be meowing all the time, then an oriental short care cat may not be best for you. But if you kind of like the reminder when it's time to eat, play or go to sleep or get outside or do something that the cat wants you to do then an oriental short hair cat might be perfect but just know they're talkative they're loud. So that's why they're great for a busy home lots of things going on because they'll get the attention when they need to? But if you don't want this, then maybe an oriental short hair cat may not be best for you. The number six reason why an oriental short hair cat may not be best, for you is because they want a cat buddy. If you plan to just have one cat, then maybe this cat isn't best for you, but if you're up to getting two, maybe three cats. This will be perfect, they can hang out wear each other out play and it'll be great for both cats. Like we said earlier, this cat is very active. Very curious wants to do different things, so if you give them another cat, buddy they'll adventure and go all around the house together. But if not they're going to look for attention from you, they're going to want to play with you they're going to want to be with you they're going to want to meow at you. So if you don't want this, you definitely want to get your cat. Another cat - and if you don't want to do that, then maybe an oriental short hair cat may not be best for you. The last reason why an oriental short hair cat may not be best for you is because they need their ears, cleaned yep. You see it. They have big ears and they need cleaning. The cats can't reach this part of their ears. They can reach the back of their ears, but cleaning inside their ears is important and it's something that you'll have to do as the owner once a week. If you don't want to do this and you want a cat that can maintenance and groom themselves, then you should look to another cat, but if you don't mind cleaning their ears, keeping them happy and healthy, then the oriental short hair is a perfect cat with that Distinct look of the big ears. We hope you've enjoyed this video all about the oriental short hair cat and we'll see you on the next one. You

GrumpetteJV: Btw, I think this is a great video, as I see many folks wanting orientals, siamese and Sphynx mostly for their looks etc, without realising they have certain needs and are very hands on. Like you see many celebrities getting these, but ending up rehoming them because they don't get enough attention and proper care.

Steve Blanka: One person's list of reasons not to get an oriental shorthair is another person's list of reasons to get an oriental shorthair

Jon James: When ours wants me to take him out for a walk, if I ignore him, he pats me on the knee with his paw or, if I’m on my iPad, simply pushes it down with his paw so that he can look me in the eyes. Our family is now complete. I’ve never known such love and intelligence from an animal.

Vineet Dixit: Learned a lot from your narrations and script - thank you for organizing your thoughts in this fun and engaging format

jane1975: We own two Siamese [ now aged 15 ], same personality so we have no issue in our house with Oriental Shorthair types. Basically if you want a docile lap cat that's high maintenance, get a Persian or another long haired breed like the Maine Coon, but, if you want a Cat that's vocal and will interact with you and want you to interact with them all day, get a Siamese type.

teerexness: Oriental Shorthair and Siamese cats are the best cats in the world. But get a pair. The most accurate thing about this video is that they don't do boredom or loneliness very well. They will also keep each other's ears clean!

Alex B: When I get my own place I’m going to get 3 oriental longhairs!!

GrumpetteJV: I've always wanted an oriental. I'm a homebody, with lots of indoor hobbies. I love going for walks in nature, but I feel anxious leaving my cat home alone, so would train it to come along. I want a real buddy for life, a cat that loves being around you. I prefer having my animal family close, so a cat that's really into being with their human suits me. Plus I love having whole conversations with my cat, and training them. I've had siamese and Siamese crossbreed before, and they are clingy af, talkative and very smart. Loved them so much!

Julissa Mata: What do you do when the cat picks you? My husband found our Sunny and now he’s ours. His face always looked weird. Now I know his breed.

Carrie Stockton: Always wanted one. Still want one. And going to get one! Love all those cats attributes. I believe in always having a cat buddy for the kitties.

Mary Struchen: I love my oriental short-haired cat. I think of lot more reasons to own one

Joan Rayne: We have just bought one of these male cats he’s 17 weeks now growing well and everything you have said is correct omg and he just dive bombs on the chihuahuas backs poor dogs HELP what have we bought he’s gorgeous though

Tamatha: I have had a few oriental short hairs not at the same time but they never were destructive. They love to watch tv

Vera Zhurakhovska: Hello, Hello! No,not true)) We love oriental cats!! They understand and can be trained like a dog.

Fart Balls: I want them so much omg

SNDWAVE BEATS: I feel like this applies to all cats lol

Fructose Cornsyrup: Soo... what I, as a doberman owner, am getting out of this is... Oriental shorthairs are literally just dobies in cat bodies. I approve.

West Indian Aiyah: Sooooo, can bring them everywhere with you in a little kitty cat bag and can you walk them on the leash?

Mime Mouse: 1:52 Look at those ears!
