I gave myself the DIY butterfly cut, which was popularized by Brad Mondo. This technique makes over Direction and cutting layers into your hair. So much more simple, you just do one ponytail right in front of your forehead like a unicorn horn and one that sits right on top of your head with the rest of your hair, I used eye drops to measure the amount that I'm going to cut because You have to cut the same amount in the front ponytail and the back ponytail watching this back. I actually realized that I cut way more off the back ponytail than I did the front so measure correctly, because I didn't measure correctly. I actually noticed that some of my layers were a little bit more choppy, so I had to go in and fix it. I also wanted to blend the front half of my hair into the back half of my hair. Usually, when I cut layers into my hair, it takes like over an hour, but this took like 15 minutes or less. I'M checking all of my layers to make sure that they're, even on both sides - and this is what it looks like when it's completely styled. I currently have pretty textbook mid-length hair, but I like how now, with the shorter layers, it looks like an actual hairstyle rather than short, hair, that's grown out to Mid length hair. Let'S talk about it by splitting your hair from the Apex down to your ears forward, you are essentially separating the front of your hair from the back of your hair. That'S pretty standard practice! Second, when you pull everything forward, as you are instructed to in the video you get you're going to cut these forward right, what that does is it works with the idea of over Direction? So when you pull something away, the hair that lives back here or wherever you pull from is going to stay longer and the front will be shorter. So, from Back to Front your hair will be longer in the back and shorter in the front when we pull it up. Same concept applies when you pull up you're, preserving the length on the bottom and then you're layering, the top. With that in mind, let's look at each ponytail, so when you've pulled all this hair up the hairs that travel from here have obviously traveled less distance to the ponytail than the ones in the back from here to here. So that means the length of your hair. In the middle back of your head is going to be the longest and it's going to be slightly shorter on the sides. Now, let's talk about the front ponytail, so this one, I'm actually going to show you right here, so my hair looks pretty much even right, but when I pull it down, ignore the grease it's wash day. Okay, look at that! You see this long piece! You see that this long piece and these shorter pieces, these are not the same length. That is because the hair that traveled from here, even though it may not look like it actually traveled farther to get to the middle than this hair did here. So what are we doing? We'Re preserving the length here and by pulling it Forward we're preserving a length from the back, so it gets the shortest right in here and then gets longer towards the sides. So the cool thing about this haircut is that it's easy at home, because you only have to make two cuts and instead of cutting like this, if you cut vertically it actually Blends out a lot better uh. So still just tiny little Cuts twice. That'S it also. The ponytails ensure this same over Direction and elevation for all of your hair. Trying to cut it in multiple sections like we do at the salon is really hard to do at home. So this is kind of a cool way to like make it user friendly right. Also wet hair. The reason we recommend wet hair is because of shrinkage issues. Also, it's a lot easier for scissors, especially because you guys, probably don't have professional ones, um it's easier for scissors to go through wet hair. So I hope that helps good luck.
