Okay, so whinnies hair is really long, and I think I like to keep her length, not cutting it too short, but definitely give her a better shape. To wear like what I said before Asian, they expect the minimum maintenance. So sometimes I was joking about the asking for low maintenance. It'S not hello, W low maintenance, they're saying and oh no man, so this is. This is a very tricky things. So what I always trying to do on Asian here is just get them a good haircut for them to just wear it natural whatever they their lifestyle is. So when is hair that I think it's good to take off the length about that much because it's been grown out too much, it's been dry hours, she's been tolerated and - and it's been aging this part. So I aim for the length about that much off and then I will show you the orange concept of how I separate is this haircut too, to work out with very simple? Sometimes I I really don't know what I will begin with a haircut. I just walk to the client and then think. Okay, maybe I should stop here so sometimes I start here. You know sometimes it's quite confusing for all my staff. They can really understand what I'm trying to do, but they see I work out. You know the style at the end. We just think it's okay for me to do that. So if I want to get a not really pointy shape at the back, but slightly go you no longer in in the middle, what I would do is separate the middle part like this roughly and then put it in two part left and right smoothly with my Fingers with my hand, twist a little bit here, please have a pull off a couch in one clips is a huge it's very important to to feel the hair. It'S. It is fun. It'S it's really hard to describe, but when you're touching it you can really feel what it is and then sorry because I always have to see right in front of her face in the center and I can see which part is unbalanced. Okay, just roughly to get this shape like this and then I will start workout with the layers on top, and I think one thing I think is really important for long layers and I see a lot of Greg hazard headers that they miss out some. Some of the point of here is how to blend in the length and the top layers. The missing part is the middle, because a lot of a lot of haircutting concept is putting up to do layers, but when the hair for downs it doesn't really match the bottom part, it always look awkward how you, no matter how you cut a V, shape round Shape flat it doesn't match when he move when when he move it doesn't work. You know as a harmony that I see. I always see something wrong. You know no matter how they decree a Greg shape on the top. It doesn't really blend in with the the length perfectly, so I think what I always do on long layers is. I leave the hair down to fix this part first, so I now I cut this part and then I will work on the middle level. First, before I go on top okay, see this part, the previous layers and the bottom part. I found that it's a little bit awkward doesn't really blame him. Doesn'T really blame him, no matter how Gregg's shape that you create on top it doesn't blend in, and one of the dry cut challenges when sometimes the clients here is a bit damaged. That will create a lot of statics. So I think maybe I used a straightener. I'M lazy i-i-i-i rarely to do education like once a week or twice a week, but I try my best to give my staff and explanation. Why I'm doing it? Why I'm doing it and then show them the the hair behavior to make them understand hair. So I found the more they understand: hair tools and their body. The more did the better. They can work out with everything, because I don't really have a particular way or technique to work on hair, everyday, daily, basic, daily basic daily basis, because I explain it to them all the time in front of my clients, and I found that the clients quite interested To know about what you are doing, they like they like it because of this shape is a little bit like v-shape, not very pointy v-shape, but still a v-shape. So I will pull hair to two side to work out the graduations from the bottom by bending the hair. So I can see exactly where the bottom part and the top layers. So this is how I workout a better, but Whitney's hair is very like a lot of statics. So, there's a bit challenged today to work out this, sometimes because of the weather they get even worse, because I've just softened the bottom part underneath length and the top layer is this middle part, and then I work out to top. Ladies first, I will check because it's always checking what is happening first, so this is the bottom part underneath and the top layers, and this is why I like Lancome, I hold a tip here. The Lancome can really hang out the whole wide section like this. I usually have to hair behave better if I blow dryer after hair wash, so I always wash my clients hair first and then I do the roll drying for them assistant assistant. So I have to train the assistant to blow-dry it correctly sorry for this haircut. No, no with their fingers, always with the fingers to touch their hair. I always suggest them to understand how to play with the heat and the hair while they drying it, because it's just like a very personal touch with your fingers, because I, our our hands, is the best brush in the world, because it's soft and flexible - and we Have the sensor whenever we touch it, we feel the hair. When you use a hairbrush, you just kind of know what I need to do and just keep doing it and you know, keep doing this we'll have this result, but when you touch the hair will feel it and then they will start to realize something cannot be Taught you know so so so this is what I'm always trying to to help them to to try to feel the hair yeah. I will show them what I do: yeah yeah. No! I don't put product nope no product before the haircut. I try to avoid product before the haircut, because I want to get it as close as possible like how they will have it natural, because it's been a long day. So when it's hair we'll have a lot of statics, so see how I picking up the section like the orange shape and the angle is it's flexible? The anchor is like maybe 90 degrees, but sometimes I will push a little bit forward or backward to adjust. How I should leave the length longer or shorter and my eyes is always keep checking here, like I said when I considered the haircut it's fall forward, so I would use this kind of section, because this layers should look nice when the hair is down. But when the hair is you know, the hairstyle is go back work. I will have different idea slightly change a little bit and then III can show you what I finished this first and then I will slightly do the the backward check it's like cross-check, but for long layers. So you can see the layers come out and it's totally up to you that how you should how you like to play with, because if you want to leave the fringe longer that you go back a little bit to leave some length. Otherwise, you can go up or front it's totally up to you, because the more you do that you would totally have the idea how to control what you are doing. So what I would do is here because I wanted to cut more length on the top. I don't want to leave too much at the front for Winnie, because otherwise it will be too heavy point. Cutting for dry cut is good because is easy to blame in I charge 180 Australian dollars for haircut about 140 yeah yeah 140. Us, I think, and then I will check so, is a very simple, simple idea of what I'm doing, just by light section like this yeah, because the head shape is round. So if you do it like well, it doesn't make sense to me because the Hat shape is round and when, when they when the hair is always down, like you know, you like to show the layers that follow follow this section idea. You will know where the hair will move yeah. So you see my body is a lot of movement. What I'm doing I don't stand still because, especially to play with long lengths, it's a lot of hard work to to do so. If you only stand here that you will limit what you can do on on on the hair, especially with dry cut sorry, because when the hair is short, it is easy to control the angle, because it doesn't go too far when the hair is that that shot. It'S easy to control life, but when the hair go that long, it's easy to do to get out of control. So so I keep myself very simple to understand. You know the head head shape and it's easier for me to get to sidebar to size balance, because what my weakest point is always to size different or is that's why? Sometimes, my haircut video only show one side, yeah yeah and I always tell my clients. This is supposed to be one. Size is longer than the other side. Yeah yeah, yeah yeah, hey yeah yeah. I cut the heavier side. First always a lot more curve and for my experience is if, if you cut it when it's straight and cut it in a good balanced shape, even when they get back to your wave wave wave wave II, you know style, it looks good. So sometimes I was straightening clients, hair and then cut it and then lift them back on their natural wave. It looks gorgeous yeah, so so the the balance how the control is is very, very important or even ball. Sometimes I I straighten the head straight first and then cut like a dry cut way and then and then, when the natural wave come back after the rinse. It looks very good. I see hair like February so so I I try to understand, hair like February so so can can always work out with hair better and I always drop my calm. Always that's my style. No, because because I hold a comb very light, I don't hold it firm. So so, whenever that the tango and stuff is easy to to drop out, because I just hold my con very light, so I just keep spinning and stuff. So so it's easy to to drop my comb and I try to touch hair gentle. So so it's it's! It'S a good way to to do it dry cut. Is this straight or wavy very wavy? If that is so thick and wavy, I will not cut too much layers yeah, because whenever it cut too much layers it get, is it's really easy to yeah yeah? I I do suggest to cut. I would just slightly to cut minimum layers together, better shape, otherwise this is so difficult to control. So the way that I hold the comb sometimes when I need to really powerful to hold a big bunch of hair like this - I hold it like this and then we just drop it and slightly plays it and without tension or the minimum tension to guide the Hair to show me where I should face - and this is this is very for me - it is very practical and very easy to to work out with Asian hair layers, but it's good to to wash and dry it first with with professional, because if they dry it And after the long day is very easy to to get these studies mmm, usually I would try to spend 30 minutes on each haircut yeah, because I have a lot of assistant to help me to shampoo blow-dry and just cut it and drum to it. The next one, like 70 percent 70 years, 70 percent yeah a lot a lot - a lot yes yeah yeah yeah. So so so. The first step, like orange, section layers, has been done and then I will finalize the Sai just to check whether that will be too heavy for for for her, because usually girls like to have lighter around the face, so I will yeah lighter fringe. So no tension is very important, place it and then so that's why I use the same length of scissors, because I do a lot of point cutting if the scissors long and short, I would chop my fingers, so I get used to seven inches. So I will haven't know where to stop see. I cut my hand a little bit because I I really can't understand something too difficult too complex. I thought I was so dumb and stupid when I was in Sassoon in in the 90s. I don't know what they are doing. You know I was seeing all the demonstration on the stage you know they demonstrating hair cutting and then they they just act very professional to me and then I don't really understand how come that should be so many different section on one haircut. So so I try to use whatever I can understand on the head shape and then and then this is what I found is only two things forward and backward and then and then that works well, quite quite good for me for daily work is to come and How you guide the hair, so blending is very important, so I can really see what is happening. This part. When I keep guiding the hair I can see, it will tell you where to stop where to cut, and I like to do the fring aiiow I like to make the French lighter by deep point cutting like this. When I do this, it's funny, I listen to what I'm doing what I mean by listen is: whenever you cut, you feel the vibration through the seizes and in the phone yeah and every card you can, you can tell how much did you take off like if You'Re blindfolded your eye, you chopping something, you know what your chopping is that a cucumber or watermelon. You know that so because we don't need to see, because even if you want to see you can't see it so listen the vibration and then you know what you're cutting. But the point is the key. Is you have to do it like really vertical the angle? You can't do this, otherwise it would be picture so yeah, because this this this way to cut hair it's better than using a thinning scissors to thin it up, because when thinning scissors get chop-chop one but big pan bunch of hair, it's been shot in like this Level, but if you do like this, it will just blur. You know that the chopped so it makes the hair on much. I don't know how to say like natural yeah, because Asian hair Asian girl don't know how to flip the hair. That'S the problem not like you know, you know the Western Caucasian. Then Linda, you know, you know how to flip your hair into a you know. Sexy pose you know, but Asian they don't touch the hair. What they will do is that's all they do it and they will keep complaining. The head is too heavy, and I said, oh, it's not happy, I said show me yes, happily see. I said if, if you head down and your hair is not falling, that's not hair, but what they would do is just too heavy to just hang it like a curtain and that's what they do. So it's very important to to give them a good. You know our weight of the the fringe. Is that right? No, I mean the the fringe. If the fringe is too heavy, it would be very annoying for you, for you, hmm, okay, let me just shy so I'd like to do a bit more, but this this time I will pick a very thin section. So when I do this point cutting I do it very, very thin thing, but not too close. Otherwise, the hair will stick up so so I would choose start from here little bit. I always pay full attention to focus on what I am doing, because sometimes, if we are to confidence of our technique, will we stop thinking what we are doing, because we thought we know what we are doing, but we just kind of know what we need to Do and then we chose the way the technique there. I'M gon na work on this heck, but through the doing we stop thinking. So so so we cannot keep realized through the doing, because that that is only only way to to realize through the action by swimming riding a bicycle. There is no way to teach you right, a bicycle unless you jump on it. So for me, I keep questioning myself. Does it really make sense, and is it the only way the best way to do it? Otherwise, I would try to find different way to work on same result, because some people will think that is totally unnecessary to find. You know a different way to achieve the same result, but for me I think that makes me work. More flexible depends on the situation. Sometimes I really only have ten minutes to finish a haircut. Sometimes I have more because people change their mind because I don't know you know your your your working situation is, but for me people keep changing their the idea, and then I want to make more business. No, no, they change them. I liked the book appointment for a haircut, but at last they designed to get a highlight or haircut. So your your schedule will you know we will get a big mass, but you want to do business. You have to do it. You know for me. I would do I would try my best to do more business or maybe I'm a business owner. I have to make that happen, but but but if I'm not flexible for adjust my time, how I should finish the whole thing that I cannot make it. I will make a mess and everyone will blame me that you know that so so, so that's why I'd to to make myself be flexible. Sometimes I choose this way to cut it. Sometimes I choose. Another way depends on the situations because otherwise, if I don't make good business, I can't keep up my passion. I need to survive yeah, we do. We do everything. Sorry we carry a lot of Japanese color because it's good for Asians, we use Chiquito Chiquito is cool yeah. They do a big full range of coloring and Shiseido's product for strengthening permanent straightening. It'S the best. It doesn't damage hair a lot and it really good product for hair. She shade. Oh, yes, it has to ask professional my wife. I don't really do color yeah, but I found that product is really good, yeah. Okay. So this is how i texturize the front. Every part area, because I don't want to make it too thin, because I still need to weigh who did the weight for for her to flip, because otherwise in the hair or gone, but for her. If it is too heavy, it doesn't work well and it doesn't frame her her face better, because I need the the natural volume to to get a effect that her face. Look smaller by hair is not too thin, so so this is what I what I did and I will check and also one thing: it's different and also a good thing for for me to do Asian based customer. They don't really need too much styling. So hecka finish by by yeah if they see. Ah, this is what I like for the the Hecker and then they're happy about it. They don't need you to spend 20 minutes to blow-dry, didn't need it yeah. So I I'd rather spend more time on a good haircut and they go home. They found it home, it's easy to wear and they come back and tell people ah he's good, because the hey is easy to to to wear for them. You don't really need to spend time to to curl it. I don't want to spoil them. Yes, yes, because the I think the most challenging part is nowadays, everyone has cell phone and everyone is easy to access internet. They see a lot of idea. They want this. They want that they understand a little bit, not good enough, well enough that how they have really really work out and that they choose a lot of idea. It'S through a lot of styling. You know it doesn't work, it is unreal unrealistic and they they think you're, not good enough, because you know not. My hair's problem is your problem. Sorry Sydney ya, know I'm too old. For that, I would let my son to learn who my son not yet he's only ten ten in eleven in October, and also work on Asian hair that we need higher temperature. Is it yeah? We need higher temperature as long as their hair is healthy enough. Not so damaged, we can use a bit higher okay. So this is the long layers that I have done for Winnie today, the front okay and the back. If we use a bit more styling, you know, just like you do to to have people more styling. It looks even better, but I'm lazy - okay, yes, yeah yeah slightly different depends how you, when, whenever you you feel - and you judge it and you design it on the spot. But actually I I found that lonely is is pretty much the same, because it's just like hair come out from a round shape, but for shorter chatelain, especially shorter, like PC haircut. It has to be really careful because our hair is really like it. The urchin, if you know two units eh, you know it's all cycle like that, is a disaster, it's very, very difficult to handle yeah, but a long hair style is pretty much the same. Okay, if I get thank you. Thank you. Thank you for coming. You, like it yeah everything you said, was spot-on, no maintenance and yeah. I just yeah put behind the ear or just put it back yeah. I know thank you, but I just want you, but the way you're doing the way you present, and I just love that that's just that's that inspires me as a daughter. You

Kenneth Siu: Thank you everyone here again! I’m so happy that we met Steven in NJ, he’s a really nice person, hairdressing nowadays is about life style, it’s very personal and it should be very fun too, this is the reason that keep me going all these years, I don’t really think that I’m passionate in haircutting, but I always be passionate in life, so no matter what comes in my life I have to make it fun! Catnip2011: Long hair (any length passed the shoulder) does nothing to the face, it just hangs there. It may provide the wearer a false sense of security/disguise. It does absolutely nothing to the facial feature, as a hairstylist in the past 14 years, I just dislike this kind of client, absolutely tasteless.
