How To Curl Short Hair With Flat Iron

Hello, everybody. It'S me karen with another episode of behind the chair. This is my client bonita bonita wears her hair natural. Now i started doing bonita's hair when we were in our early early 20s and she's. Actually, i'm the only one who she's ever trusted with her hair. Now we are in our 50s and we are still at it. Actually, i haven't done her hair. Probably in about 20 years, she's came back in town to work on some stuff with her mom and she made an appointment. So i'm so excited to see her. But she came to me a few years ago and i remember i mean it was more than a few years ago. I remember i was trying to get her to go natural. She wasn't feeling it uh, so she doesn't change easily, but since then she has gone natural and check this out. She actually cuts her own hair. She went from not letting nobody do nothing to her hair to actually letting cutting it herself. So that's kind of what i want to talk about, so she lives in chicago, so she doesn't come here, often um. So she says she cuts her hair about every two or three weeks she's. She said her husband needed his hair cut. She did that she, and ever since then she's been cutting her hair herself, so she actually did not do, does not do a bad job, but there's a difference between cutting it. The way i'm going to cut it and her just shaving it off with the clippers. She got really nice thick hair, so she can't miss, but what i did was and she wears it curly she buys synergy products been buying them forever and shampoos, her hair a lot so her texture is great but because she cuts it with the clipper her clippers. Her ends are a little jagged when i say jagged, it's like it's, not even so you can't really do anything with it with her hair but wear it in its natural state. So since she's back in the chair, we're gon na, do it just like the good old days i talked i asked her. Would you mind if we straighten it? Of course, she's like straighten my hair, i haven't had my hair straightened since i had a relaxer, oh but she's, in for a treat. So all i'm doing that's my dog walking in the background he would not sit down. All i did was i'm going through and i shampoo had her shampooed and blow-dried, and now i'm going to straighten it. So now, i'm just evening her hair out, it's cutting it. It remember guys remember how i always talk about the shape the shape the shape the shape. It'S not about cutting the ends. It'S about the shape, so um uh cutting her hair into a shape as if she had a relaxer and if she was wearing her hair. In a straight style, so her hair is super thick and super, pretty i'm so excited about how it's going to turn out, and she hasn't seen her hair straight like this. Since um she had a relaxer and the good thing about it is because she's like am. I my curls gon na be gone like girl, your curl's gon na be back the next day, but seeing it straight is a whole different deal, so i cut it most it down with our mousse wrapped it up set her under the dryer. Now i'm just cleaning it up and then i'm just going to curl it like regular. Can everybody do this to their own hair? No, she wouldn't be able to do this on her own, but my thought process is okay. You only come to columbus every now and then uh you can do your hair curly! That'S! When you come to the salon, you should be able to do something that you can't do and straighten wearing it straight and curled. Um is something you can't do so she's. Actually, in shock that we're even doing this like she's under the dryer curling it like a good old day, she already booked another appointment, i'm so excited that she's excited because again you know my theory. Is you know if you can't change nothing about your life? You can change your hair and if you change your hair and you look good and you feel good you're, just able to uh address your situations just a little better, even if it's just for that day. So me being able to straighten her hair was, you know, was a joy because i know you know she's dealing with a lot with her family um, her pain, her mom and she just needed a pick-me-up and her wearing her hair straight and just seeing it come Together - and i know it doesn't change anything going on in her life but um, it does change what's going on right now, so i was able to curl it and it came out really really good it. Actually, she looks the exact same as she did. Uh 20 years ago, this is how she used to wear hair. We used to relax it bone straight and then curl it on top. So this is how, when i used to do her hair 20 years ago, so i'm sure it's bringing back a lot of memories and nostalgia to her too. I do these videos so that i hopefully you're able to see yourself in some of these situations. If you need to make some changes, or maybe some of these uh, some of my clients got situations that are familiar to you, like, maybe you wear your hair short and never thought about getting it curled or you know just anything anything. Hopefully it will inspire you to do something different with your hair and buy the product come see me whatever, but anyway, so i want to show you the finished. Look she's amazed she's, like wow um wow. I cannot believe my hair is doing this. This is all her. Will. It lasts it'll last as long as she ties it up, but then, when she washes it, she can easily go back to her natural curly and her curly will be even better because of the way i cut it. It will last longer it will grow out a lot better trust me she'll want to come back to columbus in about. I don't know three months:
