Two words that i've heard consistently throughout my life and more so in the last couple of days. All because of the way i chose to wear my hair to work most of the time in its natural state or even in natural hairstyles. This style in particular this whole bun situation. You see it it's what caused quite the stir online overwhelmingly. Many of you saying the style is professional, while some others saying hey not so much well. Here we are at another intersection of black hair and what's considered professional in the workplace or even in schools. The question is: who determines what's professional these days, and why do some people feel like natural, black, hair and hairstyles are a debatable topic? It'S not from afros to curls to kinks to braids, even straight and anything in between as black women, we rock it all. The question becomes. Why does it even matter how we wear our hair? Why does hairstyle determine our level of professionalism in the workplace? The way hair grows out of your head shouldn't be a trending topic on social media, the style that you wear also shouldn't trigger that type of reaction. You know we've seen so many situations where black people are discriminated against because of the way we choose to wear our hair.

Tinta Manengu: Here's the full video showing 3 different ways to do this hairstyle. https://youtu.be/7SuQcKOqxOI

Capricorn 1978: I work around a lot of white people and of course I switch up every week. Trust me they're amazed at our style because they typically look the same way all the time.

Sholonda Flynn: You're right. It shouldn't matter."They" always want to set limits when it comes to us.

Carole Cramer: That style looks really nice on you!

Melanin Monroe: Your hair texture is absolutely gorgeous, and I think the finished look was awesome!

Melody: I have always always adored y'all's hair from natural to all the ways it can be styled. Every single time i see it I'm in awe because god..it's an art. I don't get why hair has anything to do with being professional but since it apparently does, how is this not the most professional? The time, effort, money and heart that goes into it should be astonishingly professional.

Patricia McCool: That is stunning!! So beautiful!!

Jamie Rose: This looks awesome! I learned so many creative hair tips & tricks from black women. This style they’re showing right here is exactly how I do a ponytail extension. It’s genius.

Reina Paloma: As long as your happy and healthy I could care less how someone wears their hair

KellyeRaiborn#TEXIT: I love that style, if anyone is giving you shit it's just because they're jealous. I'd so wear that if my hair was able to do it....super cute .

Jacken: the dedication! My arms would be sore Looks beautiful

Melanie Zenor-Kelleher: Adorable style! Love it!

Light: Infact her hair shows how professional she is, the time she dedicated to actually do her hair shows discipline and patience, don't let anyone tell you different!

Kaleigh Fulmer: You look amazing and correct who cares how anyone wears thier hair. My daughter grew up hating her hair and begging me to chemically straighten it. I'm glad I said F NO trust me u will regret it....she's 13 and loves her mixed hair after getting it correctly layered so it doesn't look like a bell she rocks those curls!!!!!

Ma’am Yes Ma’am: Very pretty

Andrew Brown: I feel you boo I had the same experience with the same hairstyle, you look good and professionalism is how you act and not a look

Ada Jeffrey: Meanwhile I'm watching over and over to learn/try this technique. But LOVE THE MESSAGE #IamNOTmyhair

LIZZYPOO ASMR: I think it looks absolutely beautiful. I think I might do my hair like this.

Ivy Whatever: I feel like LITERALLY ANY black hairstyle that's actually styled (like this one) should be considered more than professional!!! The amount of effort these types of styles take is incredible and shows obvious dedication to appearing professionally!!! & I'm the most thin, straight haired white woman. Lol.

Andrea Mooney: I love that hairstyle she looks amazing..I've never heard any1 talk about any1s hair in the work place

Maria Armés: I love the hair positivity, all races and colours should be allowed to wear their hair how they want. No ethnicity owns a hairstyle or can tell others they can't wear something. And that goes for black people who get offended by others wearing certain hairstyles just as much as white/asians/latinos who judge others for their hairstyle. Equality for all not just for some.

xsanique c: Had a mgr who told me I couldn't wear my hair blonde. She said I had to be born with it and or it had to be done by hairstylist. Lol, I was licensed and never said a word. I am a pretty woman and stand out no matter what my hair look like. That rule didn't apply to Hispanics and whites or even her whose hair was blonde streaked and she looked like her cat was playing in her hair daily.

Ada Jeffrey: Ive ALWAYS wanted to wear bantu knots to work but always worked in an office setting (healthcare field) and I'm 1000% sure I'd b not only judged 4 it but also considered unprofessional SMDH. No matter how much adversity I face as a black girl... I LOVE BEING BLACK.

Lisa Garcia: It’s beautiful! I can’t believe you can to that look by yourself! You have a gift!

Adriana Diaz: That looks so cool! Love

ThistleFaye: Took me a hot second to realize when said "professional" didn't mean "done in a salon" its hair!!! Who gives a damn?!?! It makes people happy and feel beautiful, more power to ya!

angela williams vanderford: I was always jealous of the girls of color in my school.. my Babysitter " Annie" was a 50+ black lady and she would do my hair everyday... I wanted mine to be like my friends... she would laugh and Plat or try to satisfy my desires... she Loved that I wanted to " fit in" with the " colored" kids ( 1960's terminology).. I felt like an outcast because of being a natural redhead... I was judged by teachers & white students...I learned to live every one because Annie taught me we all all the same color under our skin...

Vanibabi973: Glad to see that people aren't experiencing this as much. And that people are getting compliments on there hair these days more than ever before. ❤️ We aren't where we fully need to be but we are surely taking the steps towards a better place. Especially when we stand our ground and educate others and speak up.

Rachel Kang: I think it looks amazing!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

930RGIA: Wow !! This is such a cute style !! Looks so good !

C. Burton: Love this style and I would rock this on a regular ✊❤

Elaine Gru: People always have something to say about how a person chooses to express themselves. I literally don't care if a person has a mohawk, locs, colored hair, or is bald. Nothing is unprofessional, all that matters is an individual's attitude in the workplace.

Rose Marie Santiago Sobre Alas de Águila: all your styles; especially your NATURAL hair!

Akinda Browne: Love it, and so true about our amazing hair.

CRI BABY: THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. Definitely doing this asap!!!!!

✨SimplyyyFab_u_lous_32✨: Wow!! Beautiful...So inspirational Definitely having this done for my daughter by winter % newly subscribed

Pam Sing: I remember going in a store and a black lady was looking at me like I needed a touch up. Glad to see black women are learning to love their self as God made them.

GG_honey.eyez: That style is so beautiful! I switch up all time on my job. One red head girl asked me "Is that your hair? You change it so much". I just looked at her and smiled, then I said "Just appreciate the magic", and I gave her a hard stare and waited for her reaction. She laughed uncomfortably and said "Your hair is always so pretty". I said thank you w/a smile and walked away. Just say "I like your hair" and move on.

K Rdz: Wow your talented and I love that style, so pretty!

DIONE SANDERS - HYATT: THATS PRETTY , I WANT MY HAIR LIKE THIS!! CAN YOU GIVE US A STEP BY STEP TUTORIAL PLEASE❤❤

Lena Boland: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE MY NATURAL HAIR IN IT'S ENTIRETY. MY CREATOR MADE ME AN ORIGINAL MELINATED MASTERPIECE, I SHALL NOT BE MOVED!!

Stevie Ann: My sister's workplace is way out of line about how folks wear their hair and nails.

Lisa Colorado: I have straight, baby fine hair. I wish I could do half of the styles my co-workers can do. I love the different styles!

MacDaid Davidson: I love the way black women wear their hair. I’ve seen so many different ways and I think it’s wonderful that you can do so many beautiful things with your hair!

Sharp Cheddar: I’m twirlinggg she did such a good job wtff ✨✨✨

Nichole Hyman: This hairstyle is beautiful and I'm amazed at how it's done

AnnaNessa: Beautiful! Love the technique. How do you take it out?

Euthania: I'm white but I appreciate this because my hair is not easy to deal with and people have always asked me "are you sure you're only white?" Or commenting how much harder and more product is needed to do my hair. It shouldn't matter as long and you come to work clean and do your job.

Kay Kay: Gorgeous and natural!

Georgie Badu: Your hair and the style in this video is absolutely beautiful. You're a beautiful lady and you're rocking that hairstyle. I love it.

Elba Underwood: Love the hair looks great

michelle agnew: That is so awesome! The lady looks so happy and that’s what’s important as far as what matters. How do you feel about your hair. No matter what race or gender, wear your hair the way you feel confident and comfortable.

Shelby Wilder: Beautiful! You did awesome!

Tracy Jacquet: I would love to do this hairstyle. I would try it with less volume, cause I do like versatility in my hairstyles lol. My question would basically ask about the upkeep of this hairstyle? Would you be able to wash your roots and still keep the style viable?

Tara E: I agree with everything said in the video...but this style reminds me of when I was 5 years old bc this was my go-to.

Lauren Savino-Ware: Love it. Looks so cute on you

FireWolfMaster: Absolutely gorgeous!!!

F G: I encountered the opposite. I wore my hair in nuclear red or blue my senior year in high school. I got called in to the office and was told i had go back to a normal color hair. I told them i would do so whem they make all the black gals with colored braids go natural too. They left me alone. It was a black dominant school.

Leela Crissy: Thank you. The way your hair grows is professional and beautiful

Caleigh Davis: Everyone’s hair is gorgeous how it is DONT let anyone say otherwise

Hazel Thompson: THAT'S HOW GOD MADE OUR HAIR!‍♀️

Queen 👑 Loyalty: That is so naturally beautifully done love it you go girl Tha Queen Loyalty have spoken!!!!!!!!!!!!! ✝️✝️

Bella Lama: Love that! Looks super cute, she's got an amazing smile too. Wish I could do cool shit too my hair!!!

David Humphrey: That's a cool ass style you got.... Honestly I'm thinking it's out of jealousy that these people can't get their hair the same way... I've seen in read articles of discrimination in as young as elementary School about teachers messing with black kids hair. And honestly out of it all the only thing I can think of is that between the business workplace and school age it's jealousy they are jealous that they can't get their hair the same as black women/ girls...

G J: Love it! You did that!

msyphi: I LOVE YOUR HAIR. DON'T CHANGE FOR ANYONE!!!

Shannon Armstrong: I absolutely love it And you are accurate

Celena Beal: Cute hairstyle!❤

Neolo Anderson: The other day at work a women (sweet lady) asked me slowly and not in so many words, if my hair was that length and how it grew, I told her I could have an illness or something, (we were out in the open in front of others). Another tried to touch my hair while the first lady was talking to me, I told her don't do that . Anyway coincidentally me and 2other black girls had all changed our hair over the weekend and one of them told her it was a hair cream that grows it in 2days. When she told me I went along with it and said I would send her the name on watsapp . The day turned out funny.

Deeannash: I had a boss who only insisted the girls with really pretty hair had to tie it up out-of-the-way. If she wasn't jealous of you she'd leave you alone. Malignant narcissists shouldn't be anybody's boss.

Jermane Fields: Very pretty!!! I would wear that!!!

Honest Babel: I’m sorry if you feel that you’ve personally been harassed about your hair style but the concept of professional hair has applied to all races. This is changing. It used to be that you couldn’t get hired with non natural hair colors like pink, blue etc. or with certain extreme cuts. Men with long hair was not professional. What’s considered professional is going out the window more and more. There was a time when you couldn’t get a job if you had tattoos showing. Slowly the concept of looking professional is going out the window. And with more and more people working from home, I think it’s ever closer to be done. Now u see people with ear plugs and other piercings with customer service jobs. Years ago they’d never been hired in a job to deal face to face with the public.

Alicia Williams: It looks gorgeous!

Jenny Potts: Love it

Danielle Weaver: Absolutely beautiful!

Rawda Ali: After you finished am amazed at how beautiful it is really like wow

Stoner Goth: To me, personally, I know black women spend a lot of time and money on their hair. Unless you're gifted and can do your hair yourself like this gorgeous woman has done, chances are your spending time, money, and patience sitting in a salon chair. I think of hair as an art form and If I were a hiring manager I wouldn't discriminate whether someones hair is braided, flattened, or in a dhuku. It's what's the mind inside and not on the outside that matters.

VickyRagDoll: That is so beautiful!

Tina Russell: That is gorgeous.....it is incredible. You go Queen. That. Is. Perfection. Gorgeous

Jesse Leigh Middleton: Omg that is so cool I love it!

ShaJay: That’s beautiful

suga snaxxx: You did that !! Awesome

Tay9sdaughter: I love it!!!! So pretty

Star Bright: This style is . Love it.

Amy Huett: Do your doo as you see fit! The poodle puff is classy/playful. Rock it! Ignore the fools that can't handle it.

mahogany princess: If it wasn't for WW complaining, it wouldn't be a problem. I don't believe (straight) white men care that much. Men don't typically focus on things like hair, makeup, and nails. That's a woman thing. Let's not forget, historically, it was WW complaining about BW natural hair that forced us to have to cover our hair or wear weaves in the first place. This is a strategy WW and some WOC use to compete with BW. By saying our hairstyles are too distracting or unprofessional.

malachiharris1: Your hair looks beautiful!! You know people ain’t got anything else to do but talk how blacks wear their hair! We have so many choices!! ❤️❤️

LetUsGrow2gether: This is so PRETTY!! Just give it time AND some white chick will imitate this hairstyle & the masses will be okay with it then!‍♀️

D: Absolutely Beautiful!!

Aleesha Koy: I'm in Love I lovvvvve this hair style You go girl looking great!

texaslace032 I am me!!: That is beautiful!! You go beautiful!!

Manda: I would always see a black lady's hair as professional if she's dressed professionally. Even as a young girl I would always have assumed that if it looked differently to what I'm used with that it was a cultural thing especially if she was dressed well.

Rachel R: Your hair looks amazing

Lee-Lee: Very cute... I'm amazed. We are so versatile!

Keysha Woods: Very cute hairstyle. Looks great on you. Excellent job
