This year, you need to forget the trends and really find the best hairstyle for your own face shape. You know every year without fail. We are giving these trend forecast these predictions about what us guys are going to be doing with what we wear and what we're gon na be doing without here and actually, let's start this week, I sat down had a look at all these and started pulling them Together, thinking that this was going to be the video the trends, the hairstyles you need to have for this year, but actually I was looking at us thinking. A lot of these actually aren't great and they're, not gon na sue everyone, and that is the whole part of this. We should be taking all these things as inspiration and not as a prescription, and really the thing that you should be getting right is what suits you and your face shape. So I'm stripping it right back, I'm going back to basics, for you guys, looking at various face shapes actually six that I have breaking them down into round, face shapes and square face, shapes and really giving you a bit of an idea about what's gon na suit. You now first up is to square face shape and if you've got one of these, then you can have a prominent forehead and a strong jawline. The length and width of the square face is usually about equal and the chin is angular. Now this face shape is the most masculine of them all. It'S very angular, it's very square and actually guys you can go one of two ways. If you want to really mask it up, then you can keep it very short, very cropped and go for that. Real military look: this actually really does work for this hairstyle you'll make your look super masculine and really push you into the alpha male way. But if you want to soften it up - and maybe your personality is more sort of trend led and more style focused, then add a little bit more length and weight around the face. You really just want to soften that. Really the hair is coming up and over kind of, like oh I've got here. What you're seeing here is the length over here and the texture is starting to soften that face slightly or you can go for a bit of a hybrid. So you can have loads of texture and volume at the top with a quick and then go for what we had with that buzz cutter on the site with a high fade. Next up is a rectangular face shape. Now, if you've got this, then your face will be longer than it's wide. The length is the greatest measurement, so that's the top to the bottom. Your forehead, you cheap ones and you've jaw we'll all be similar in size like for this one. You really want to be adding with a range of face if you've got like a one phage or a zero or skin fade, then really you're gon na be making a face, look even thinner and longer, and the same really goes with volume. If you've got a massive quit or a pump, you're gon na be elongating that face and again making it look. Even bigger. You really will be going into cartoon characters, though, really kind of what you want to be doing here is be keeping that length on this side and adding texture into the top. Really. What perfect, for this is a scissor cut? The first one really is a variation of what we saw on the square face. One you've got this side, part to sweep and a bit of a crew-cut really you've got a bit more length from the sides and had a texture to top and again guys. You can even go for something a lot closer to the head, so more just of that side part came in a bit razor parted in or really if you're someone that wants a bit more volume like me, then you might just want to sweep your hair up And out of your face so again a bit more weight on the back inside and then just with all that texture on top now the third face shape is diamond. If you've got this, then you'll have a chiseled jaw and angular cheekbones. Really, your cheap ones would be the widest part of your face, followed by your forehead, and then your jaw line like this one. You can go for more length on top really just to add a bit more shape around your face. You know something like a high fade with a sweeping fringe will add more width to the top, whilst accentuating your cheekbones or you can really just push the hair right back up off your face, but avoid coming to your Heights. It really will make it feel to box here in here. The trick to this one is to add loads, more texture into here, which will break up those hard lines and give you a little bit more movement into the style. Then moving into the second category and the first one is the round face, shape now, like the square face, shape this one's also characterized by an equal length and width, but everything will be much softer now. If you've got this one, then you'll tend to have fuller. Cheeks and more delicate features they can find the balance in this one. You really want to be building up height. So, actually you can go super short in the back inside, but you might want to have a little bit more volume. So something like a skin fade with a pomp would work perfectly and if that's maybe just a little too severe for you, then you can go for a fade. You can go a long, medium or high and then have all that text in the movement on top. So you can have a quite spiky or you can just sweep it back and over on to the most common face shape, and this is oval now, if you've got this face shape, then your chin will be slightly narrower than your forehead, but your proportions will be Balanced overall also, a typical feature of this one is that you'll have high cheekbones. Now this is actually my face, shape vo voice, so I can talk to you as a proper expert really for this one. You want to be getting the hair and and off your face. You can keep all that length on the top, but you don't be having it down across your face. If you're, all gon na have something like a super, pink fringe, you're gon na lose all those angles and really make your face. Look a lot rounder, the key thing for this one, and actually, what I would say is a real failsafe is to have something like a classic cut fade. So have it tight on the sides and then keep low to the weight on top. Then you can do something like a quiff or a pompadour and guys you can go as extreme as you want, so you can have a skin fade or you can have slightly more weight on the side, but really do keep it neat. Now. The final face shape is triangle. Now this one's all the way, angular features in essence, really it is like an upside down triangle. You'Ll have a jawline, that's wider than you cheekbones, which in turn is wider than your forehead. Never the triangular face shape. Really you want to be trying to balance out that wider jawline, with a more narrow, forehead, adding a little bit more volume to the sides and not at the top will help to do this. Actually, don't go too soft with it, because it really will draw attention to that job and also the proportions for your face. I would also say the best thing for this: one is to add loads of texture, really breaking it up and also adding a little bit more in terms of shape to your face. You can actually see here, you know actually just sweeping the hair across will help to do that and also add a little bit more height to that face or really, if I was going for ever to have more of that volume on top so more like that, Big textured, quick and then just keep some of that weight on the site. But if you are wanting to go for something I would say like actually something a bit more trend led, then you can go for this. One which is more like the mid fade and then have that big, sweeping textured fringe coming down and all that. But there you go guys 6 face shape, it all comes down to you. You can follow these different rules and instructions, and only do what I say, but there no fun in that go over there, try different cards different styles work with different products and really see what suits you and your own individual sort of personality. Some guys will have the same face shape, but they will hold the haircuts and this style in a far different way, just because of who they are, and that's the most important thing you know always find something and work with something that makes you feel good there. You go a little pep talk at the end of this, but thank you very much for watching. I really hope you've enjoyed this one should also say I'm doing an hashtag. There is loads loads loads going on on my blog right there, but I'm going to see you in the next new video, which will be Sunday bye, bye,

Robin James: I started looking at trends and then though, "Actually, no! Who will these actually suit!?" Work with what you have! Experiment and have fun. It's hair!

M S: One of the things I like most about Robin's videos is that he doesn't follow this awful youtube trend of cutting the video every few words. These videos flow better and seem a lot more natural and so are a lot easier to watch!

Gaurang Dwivedi: I've got oval face shape and i'm currently rocking the fade cut quiff hairstyle.Your advice always works wonders as i have got fine hair like you...really great video.

J: So glad I found your channel recently. I've decided to go with a new style this year, grow out the top and learn how to control my thick hair on top. I used to always cut it short because it was hard to control, but where's the fun in that.

Brian Kop: Robin you made a really good point because the hair trends for this year won’t suit everyone.

Patrick: Always appreciate how real you are with your videos and staying true to your channel - thanks Robin!

Mren: Fantastic and super helpful videos Robin!I just started using Kiehl’s “Malleable Molding Paste” for my fade-quiff hairstyle. I only use a little bit in damp hair and then blow dry. Is this a good option? It seems to work very well by itself in damp hair and using the hairdryer.

Pie Pe: great job as always Robin, really nice touch with the pictures! would've loved to see more options for textured hair tho x

Seihyuni: ayee. liking the themes you've been going with for videos. actually, I appreciate your mindset and attitude towards life in general such as your opinion on conformity and individuality. You really promote keeping a healthy mind and ideas that I agree with.

Eroge Oficial: I've got round face shape and since 2 months ago I'm using a side-tapered comb-over style. Since I'm still on college I'm using some matte finish hairstyle products. Your channel is great Robin. Greetings from Peru.

Spoon: Roses are red Violets are blue This channel is amazing And robin is too

Tom Swiss: In my opinion, nobody really dives deep into what hairstyles to have depending on what type of hair and face you have, considering both. I know it'd be a very demanding video, however when I started looking for an hairstyle that was possible with my hair and face I was hopeless. For a beginner who never really cared and had no idea about that, it was quite needed. Well-made video anyway. :)

Easy: Got a square face and as im man enougth to let my hair grow out i stumbled over the perfect style for me -a wavy, almost curly sidepart. It works really well for my features as i got really sharp eyes, a defined nose and sharp lips. Basically found out it suits me when I didn't have time to blowdry my hair in the morning and it dryed naturally, so it curled up a bit and suddenly I got compliments from all arround... well, not the guys, most hate it, but the women, they seem to appreciate wild and untaimed hair on a guy that dresses sharp in the age of sharp cuts and wild and untaimed clothing ‍♂️

I am Not here: Thank you for the vid robin. I notice some people are in between face shapes i think I’m in between. I’m closer to a round face but skin fades/fades in general don’t work on me whereas a little length on the sides and volume on top seem to work best. Curious on your thoughts?

Mod Miscellanea: I have a hard time determining my face shape...sometimes I consider it square, other times it seems rectangle or oval. I don't know!

Adrian Chong: This video couldn't have come at a better time. Been looking for something new. Thanks Robin!

heyitsdaave: Love this, I feel like many people will find this very helpful!

Jackman LeBlanc: Lol I've just been rocking an afro with my mixed hair so far this year. It's been a lot of fun, but I'm thinking of going with yet another drastic change. Maybe a mohawk or something. At some point I just decided that my shorter hair styles were getting boring and fighting my naturally curly, frizzy hair was just a pain in the ass so I let it grow to see what happened. Like I said, it's been fun. However, it's also a bit boring. There aren't exactly many ways I can style my hair at this length.

Wompatti: You just solved one of my biggest problems! How can I thank you enough?

Skytop: nice video..i really like your background, robin! i think that the main goal in these hairstyles are to balance your face shape.. it seems like the quiff will never go wrong with any face shape tho

D.E.T: Very helpful. Thank you!!

TraderPTY: Love your hairstyle! Would love to see a New hairstyling tutorial.

Mohammed Shaheel: I usually go for a somewhat short pomp (about 3 inches on top) and Im stuck whether to get Morris mottley or Patrick's m3. I heard the m3 makes your hair really greasy. I also have normal to thick hair.

Steven Nguyen: What do you think about a medium-short middle part with short sides for oval?

Kyle Lim: Very helpful, Robin!

Pablo: Great and pretty content once again .. as i have thin bones and maybe more of an oval face ? (Not sure but my forehead is not wide and my jawline not "strong" I keep my hair longer at the top and a bit shorter on the sides which is a good balance I think.. thank you very much !

sparda: Hello Robin I think your a great YouTuber and have a great personality. I have a little problem with dark circles under my eyes. Any tips and or product recommendations would be helpful please. And the mustache is looking nice.

Ptr: Looking for hairstyle inspiration atm. I can say for sure this is the best and most detailed hairstyle to faceshape video out there, and i've seen a lot.

Spin teX: My face is round and my hair is quite short. Which hairstyle would suit me best?

TTV. LilAsia12: Robin I need advice... I’m trying to grow my bangs down to about my chin (almost like Jordan O’Brien’s hair). My hair on the top is down to my nose and I have tapered sides and back. I’m having trouble with it’s hold during the day and I’m thinking of cutting it down to about my eyebrows so that it will be versatile and it will hold during the day. Idk what to do though. Do U think I should cut it like a textured fringe, or continue growing it as planned?

Jamie Hoey: hey robin great video man its simple, quick and gives a few suggestions for each face shape! :) By the way are you planning on doing a review on Chaptr Hair Cream?

saqawat khan: Could you recommend long hairs/undercut top knot for oval face?

343Films: I've been told by stylists that my head is almond shaped. I take it that means the closest comparison here would be the triangle shaped face?

R J: Amazing video Robin this has helped me a lot

king ks: aye Robin u should make a video on hairstyles for guys with big foreheads. Unfortunately, hairstyles that are slicked back which expose foreheads dont look too great on guys such as myself

BB: nice quality video as per usual.

Alex Moore: Good stuff man love your content!

ill mindz: Can you make a video for men with maturing/widows peak hairlines? Its hard to pull off some of these styles when you don’t have a perfectly straight hairline.

jjg89: Great video as always.

Salvo Di Piazza - All About Music: You forgot to mention inverted triangle/heart face shape...what about it?

Grant McQuade: Excellent video, one for the rebels and the classic men.

Robin Woodward: Great Tutorial not sure which face shape I am though!!...Can you do a Moustache tutorial please? :)

Abhishek soni: I think bro you should launch your own hair products I would love to buy your products

great260891: I have a round face and actually find tapered back and sides make my face look fatter, so generally just go for a boring scissor cut with more length on top

Jogging Cucumbers: I have in between round and square not great jawline or cheek bones but not full cheeks idk but I have like shoulder length hair and everyone loves it so it must be working

IT'S ALL GONE: Hey Robin, I am a male who has a face that is similar in width and length and isn't very angular due to my body fat percentage. I have a skin fade on my sides and my top is fairly short. Not buzz cut short, but shorter than crew cut length. I find that short cuts look better on me due to my lack of angles. Buzz cuts and shorter cuts look better on me, but round sunglasses look terrible on me. Does this mean I'm square or round?

Daniel Malinen: Sorry, but I have to ask just... Are heart shape same that triangle?

Abhishek soni: Thanks bro for making this video I love it

CLEAR ANATOMY: Hey what about longer hair styles for men?like about shoulder length

Dadyy: Bruh I have an oval face and I rock a freaking afro , my hair is so curly it's hard to shape it in anyway or form , so the afro Is how it actually grows.

Anthony: WOhOO!!! First video of the year! Best of wishes for the upcoming year!

centenoj85: love the video. I'm getting new haircut thag suit my face shape. can't wait for sunday....

Roshon Basnet: Great Video As Always Robin :D

Jonathan Ye: Someone needs to make a count of how many times Robin has said "actually," in his videos.

Alex: What about medium and long hair for men? You never mention these hair lengths.

Prakhar Raj Singh: Can u make a video about hairstyles according to different hairlines

i stan for stalin: I've got oval/oblong face what's the best cut for me

I’m ant now: You're the best, Robin!

Toonology n: What would heart shape face be closest to? I have a narrow jaw and my head is widest at forehead, any ideas fit hairstyles?

Souhardya: Most helpful article

Hi Im Encho: damn i have round face, but i wanna go for long hairstyle :P

Lupe Rodriguez: I have a oval shape face I was wondering if a spikey cut with a high skin fade would work for me??

thomas crawley: Have you tried johnnys chop shop wild cat hair clay? Its incredreble

Atomic ransom: Thank God this video came out before my haircut appoinent.

Dimitris Zampounidis: man i dont know whats up with my face really..i have oval yet triangle face coz my chin is quite sharpy but my forhead is really big and idk what to do really...also my hair is really weird coz they cant really be managed..damn :P

OGMensStyle: Very great to watch

TTV. LilAsia12: Very helpful video robin

Kushal Dhanwariya: I love this video very much

Luke Flamson: What about a video on what hairstyles are good for what hairlines?

Nishant Dutt: Hey robin how hybrid cream clay works for thicker hair as now i can ask u because your hair is thicker

Ohohohoho: If you have the bottom half of your head Oval and the upper half rectangle? what I can do?

Asterius: Any tips for Diamond face shape?

The Bradenator: I see a bit of everything in my face unfortunately. I tried looking up the measuring method and the instructions are unclear to me, especially the jaw measurements.

Adrian Cadillo: Thanks for this great video and btw I like that mustache, makes you look more fancy!

Mason Mccurdy: Robin could u please do a brand battle of Pete and Pedro's salt spray, and beardbrands spiced citrus sea salt spray. It would mean a lot. Thanks man. Also love your videos

SJ Saad: Is round faceshape bad for men?Robin?I need your answer

Vardeep Gill: I have rectangle face and my hair are wavy so I can properly make the hairstyles you told what to do..??

Grand Flipper: Excellent video

DARK KNIGHT: Hahahahaha it’s funny because I have a Mohawk and I think I make it work but I kinda get why you’re doing this

Rupsli Chakravarty: Great video thanksssss man

Matt Armstrong: Robin, I have no idea what my face shape is. I feel like I’m in a hair rut and desperately need a new cut. Plz help!

fwshinji: So no one's gonna talk about that mustache curl?

T O N Y S T A R K: need videos about body language for men

Derp harper: I have a big forehead is a quaff or pompadour good with it?

shiva VR D: What about heart shaped

Jonathan Ye: Someone needs to make a count of how many times Robin has said "actually," in his videos.

Dylan Byrd: I can’t tell if I’m rectangular or oval

Fatima Davis: The male version of my face 3:13

BufferingJeonJungook: No homo but dis guy looks

Giga Chad: Man can u watch my pic and tell which face type it is I'm confused + I have an undercut in this one is it good

Karan Advani: Mine is oval and i really wish to get a crew cut. What's your suggestion robin?

Stevottty: Winter skincare routine?

Jerald Antonio: can I send you a screenshot of my face, I can't seem to identify my face shape

flumbo: BEST ADVICE

VeryNuclear: What is said in intro is important. Better fucking find a hairstyle which compliments your face.

imfakedavid: Do a video on type of glasses for different face shapes please

Md. Ridwan: It was a good geometry class...

F22 FIGHTER JET: Will you ever come out with your own hair product line?

David B: I am overweight so it is hard to tell, but I am pretty sure I have an oblong face. Almost exactly 7" inch long face (giver or take a minimal amount of error due to my beard and bad measuring), while my forehead, cheeks, and chin are all about 5-5 1/2" inches in width. I don't really know what the difference between oblong and oval is, but multiple sites I looked at differentiate the two. So should I follow the oval face ideas or are there a few variations I should make to fit my face?

Agency: Some of the shapes are similar...I can't figure out which I am, any help frens?
