Hi all! If you clicked on this video, thank you and welcome to my little corner of the internet! I was sent the Overtone Coloring Conditioner to use for a couple of sponsored IG posts, but I really wanted to film the process and my thoughts as well, so that's what this video is. Hi friends, so it is a lovely sunday morning coming to you live two days after christmas, i'm really excited because today, for the very first time in my life, i am dying my hair now i feel like that sounds a little bit more scary than it is Because i'm not using traditional hair dye, i am going to be using overtones coloring conditioner, which i'm super excited about. Full disclosure. This video in particular, is not sponsored. However, i have instagram content like three story: slides and a post that is sponsored, but on this video i am not getting paid to do this. I just really wanted to film my experience dyeing my hair for the first time and the reveal of the process and everything i just thought it would be super fun and also as someone who has red hair, i have struggled to find videos of people with my Exact hair, color or similar hair color using this product like i wanted to purchase this before i was offered, do receive it and you like to do some posts and whatnot with overtone. So i had done a little bit of research prior and i wasn't really able to find that many people whose hair color was the same or similar to mine, who were using the extreme orange color and conditioner. That being said, there is a girl named callie. Her instagram is my face story. She is super cool i just really enjoy following her. I found her through an overtone post that just popped up in my feed. Those targeted ads are frighteningly accurate because she has a hair color, that's really similar to mine. I'Ve always thought that redheads, who have really orangey red hair, were really like. It was a really pretty tone of hair and my hair, as you can see, my hair is more of an auburny red. It has a lot of brown to it. It'S not that, like copper, red that some people have so that's kind of what i'm hoping to accomplish today with the overtown extreme orange product would be a coppery red tone. That being said, i think i mentioned this at the top of the video, but i have never dyed my hair before in my life, when i was going through my emo phase. Of course, when i was like 14, i wanted to dye my hair, but my parents wouldn't allow me i did do blonde ombre, which was a terrible choice, because my hair is incredibly dry. When i did dye my hair, it wasn't the full head. It was just about halfway up with the blonde ombre situation, which of course, was really popular in, like i don't know 2014., i am super excited because from like root to tip my hair has never been a different color and, of course it's not going to be That extremely different, because overtone doesn't lift color. It doesn't necessarily darken it just deposits color on top of whatever color you have so for me, it's not really going to like lighten or darken. I don't think it's just going to change the tone of my hair. I guess hence the name overtone all that being said, i am super excited. I'Ve got all of my materials laid out here in front of me, and i'm going to take you guys with me on my journey of dyeing my hair for the first time in my life. Hopefully, i believe i have enough in the overtone bottle to coat my head really good. I am a little bit freaked out by that, just because i have so much hair, as you can see it's incredibly long and it's really thick and all that but anyways with all. That being said, i guess we're dyeing my hair today, guys for the first time ever so, let's jump into it. Okay, so i'm going to start out by just brushing my hair all the way through really well now, my hair is good and brushed. I just went and got a headband really quick, so that i can put on vaseline and i'm just going to clip my hair up, i'm going to slather my neck and my face in vaseline, because my hair is so long. I'M afraid that like, if any of it falls down it's just gon na like totally get after me and dye my skin here, you have it vaseline brand vaseline. I don't want to brag. This is probably 100 years old. I don't think my family's ever bought new vaseline. Does this expire i'm going to go ahead and just put this on my forehead and just do like the whole forehead get my little ears too. I also i'm afraid to get it in the hair because i don't want it to not dye the hair. You know what i mean, but it's probably fine. Okay, i'm just gon na really go in get my neck. I hope this doesn't mess up my fake tan. The fact that i'm doing this in my bedroom just like standing on a towel, i feel really chaotic right now. These are the tiniest gloves i've ever put on my life. Why are my hands too damp for these gloves? This is an omen. I'M gon na have to go, get a different one. Okay, i'm gloved up. I am somewhat ready physically, yes, mentally, maybe not okay. So i've taken my hair down. I'M gon na divide it into like four sections that feels right to me. I'M just gon na part. Her down the middle, that was like a good section to start out with. I also grabbed this little comb, which is already orange. It doesn't matter if it's stained that way once i have the product in it, i can brush through it, which i feel like help. A little bit to disperse it if that needs to happen before i start, let's look at the instructions using gloves, apply evenly to dry hair, wait 10 to 15 minutes and rinse thoroughly with warm or hot water use weekly to keep hair color fresh protein products are Non-Damaging and contain no lightening agents. Individual color results may vary depending on many factors, including starting hair color. It'S vegan and cruelty, free free of sulfates, parabens and ammonia and is suitable for all hair types. Is it silicone free? Obviously, i would make an exception if it wasn't because honey i'm gon na dye, my hair today, but i'm curious. Let'S see amida methicone okay, so it is not silicone free, but that's. Okay. However, in my normal hair care life, i do try to do silicone free products, but again it's fine. It smells kind of minty mentholy. My technique here is um testament on just trying to like kind of work it into the root area that i feel up here. Where i've sectioned it out, this is not going to be the absolute best color representation in this lighting in here that i'm just doing in here, because it's like a convenient place to film okay, i'm gon na do the top of my hair on this side. Now, all right, i'm gon na start on the other side. Now i'm just really picking up small bits of dye, because i feel like i'm better, better able to control it. That way. Look at that sweat and vaseline yum breathing for you. I like jennifer lawrence and x-men right now. I think what i'm going to do is do some parts along the top of my head and add in some color i'm really impressed because i feel like i have enough to do this one more time. I might not end up with quite enough to do it one more time, although i do have another yard - extreme red or vibrant red, whatever it's called. So this might not be the last time you're seeing me dye my hair with overtone. I'M gon na get some of my fingertips. Actually i'm just gon na like work it into the back of my head, so i feel like we're pretty much good now that my hair is what seems to be as coated as possible, i'm looking down at it. It looks pretty pretty coated in the product, i think we're gon na be good, and hopefully it won't be streaky, i'm going to put it up in a clip and let it sit for 10. I think it's like 10 to 15 minutes. I'M gon na do 15 because i want to get the max out of this honestly. I probably should do 10 because i've been working out this for like 30 minutes. At this point, it's been sitting for a while, so i probably honestly could just wash it out right now if i wanted to, but i just want to let it sit for a while per the instructions, even though it's been on my hair for a good minute. So yeah, i will check back in with you guys in like 10 to 15 minutes before i hop in the shower and give you a little update. I guess so. Yeah see you in a sec 15 minutes later. Okay, you guys it's been 15 minutes, it's time to go wash this stuff off. I am super excited it's looking quite orange, as you can tell on the camera screen here. I do feel like this is a good representation of how the color is. Of course, when i pop back in while it's still wet i'll, show you how it looks and then i'll also show you how it looks in different lighting once it's dry, i've got some good sunlight coming in through my window, at my desk over there and i'll Show it in like a natural light setting too i'll, probably pop in to my bathroom anyways, i'm gon na go, take my shower now and see how this turns out alrighty. So i have hopped out of the shower. My hair is on its way to starting to dry. I can already tell that the color is a bit different, obviously than what it was before more coppery and more of like an orangey hue. When i was in the shower, it looked like an orange massacre. I don't know if it's gon na stay in my shower. I was planning on washing it later today, anyways like cleaning my bathroom and everything, just fair warning to anyone who is doing this. Your shower might might also pick on the color of your hair. A little bit but yeah, so i rinsed it out and rinsed it out and rinsed it out, and then i shampooed and shampooed again and then i conditioned and everything and there is still a little bit of orange dye. That'S on my towel that i just had my hair in, so i'm definitely going to wash it again before i go to bed tonight, just because i'm a little bit paranoid with like having white sheets and a white bed spread and like white pillowcases and everything. I don't want there to be any orange hair dye anywhere on my linens and whatnot. I can feel my energy dropping, so i'm gon na go eat a bagel and then i'll catch back in with you once i'm all put together and dressed in hair and makeup and everything okay, so quickly, just for reference. I'M sitting on the floor. In my parents, bathroom right now, just so that i can get some really good sunlight on my hair, but you can see um in the shot, how it really looks when the sun is hitting it. It'S just really. Vibrant and coppery has almost, i would say, like a slightly rosy undertone, which i really love. So that is what it looks like in the sunlight, and i love it so much all right. Here'S what it looks like in bathroom lighting, still pretty red, not quite as red, obviously as in the sunlight, but still vibrant. But now you know how it looks in this type of lighting alrighty. So i had to change up the location a little bit because the lighting in my room got kind of weird but yeah. Everything went honestly super smoothly with the whole dyeing process and washing process and styling process, and everything like it was fine. It was normal, i'm just really excited with how the color turned out. I think it's so pretty. I feel like if you have red hair. This is a super fun way to mix up your color, but not actually change it, because i know when you have red hair people always tell you like. Don'T dye your hair, don't dye your hair, like you should never do that. I don't still feel like. I necessarily dyed my hair, like obviously i did. I literally did dye my hair, but because it's kind of the same color just amplified you know i don't feel like a different person. I still have red hair, so i'm just super excited with my experience with using overtone because, again like i said it was super easy and it kind of takes the scariness out of dyeing your hair. In my opinion, the only thing i will say is this did not quite wash out in the shower. I didn't want to shampoo it too many times, because i was a little bit afraid that i was gon na wash all the color out, which of course, that's not gon na happen takes like a month worth of washes for you to actually wash the collar out. But i realized when i took the towel off of my hair, that there were some like orange stripes from like the back of my head, where there was still some color in there. So beware, i guess when you do wash this out of your hair, it might take more than like two shampoos. I think i am going to wash it again tonight, just so that i make sure i get all the orange out. Even though overtone is marketed as like a conditioning product, i will say the texture of my hair. It doesn't feel bad at all. It feels really similar to the way that it usually feels um except there's just a slight bit of like maybe more texture to it than normal. It doesn't feel quite as like satiny as it usually does again like. I don't think it's necessarily drying and i have really dry hair, so it would be easy for a product to dry my hair out. Okay, you guys um. What time is it right now? 1106.. 1106 p.m. Editing lydia dropping in to fill you in on how i'm feeling about everything. Now that it's been a few days since i dyed my hair, my main takeaway is that my hair texture, even though in the video i couldn't really tell if anything, had changed or not. Um, my hair texture doesn't feel quite as satiny as it did, which i can only attribute to the fact that it is hair dye like it is supposed to be healthier than regular, hair dye and more conditioning, but my hair texture just isn't quite the same. I used a shampoo tonight that has sulfates in it so that i can hopefully break down the dye a little bit so that my hair texture would go back to normal, and i used a really good, deep conditioner and my hair does feel a lot better, because I have really dry temperamental hair. I just feel like this is something that i would have liked to have known if i was someone who was using this hair dye for the first time. So if you have drier hair, if you have hair, that's more temperamental, it might slightly alter the texture of it for a period of time. Like i was saying, i do feel like things that i've put on my hair in the last. I don't know a couple of hours like since i've showered have helped restore it to its normal texture, which makes me feel better. It makes me feel, like you know, this isn't damaging my hair. It'S just temporarily coating it in a color that makes it feel a little weird. So anyways, that's been my experience ever since, as i was saying in this living room night time, 11 pm lighting, it looks pretty normal again. It is still quite orange. Just not in this lighting, i know i already said this, but i really hope you guys enjoyed this video. I have really enjoyed the experience of dyeing my hair for the first time and figuring out. You know how it's gon na work, how it's gon na change. My hair, how it's gon na last and whatnot so yeah. I hope you guys enjoyed this video and i will catch you guys next time, which i already said. But here i am saying it again: okay, bye, okay! Here i am again, i have um a book stacked on top of my computer and then i have a dead aloe plant with my phone leaned against the denial plant, because i don't have an iphone tripod. It'S fine anywho! This is my final thoughts on overtone. It was very easy to use. I'M super happy with the way the color turned out. I don't know that i really have anything negative to say other than the fact that i don't know that there's um dimethicone in it, but i feel like you, can't really help that like there's so many products that have silicones in them, i'm just gon na use A shampoo that has sulfates in it so that it will break down the silicones. Hopefully it won't. Do it like to the point that it messes with the hair color, but i'm just gon na, do that and then continue washing it. The right way that i regularly wash my hair with sulfate free shampoos, silicone free conditioners and plenty of co-wash in between to keep it clean and moisturized in between shampoo days so yeah it was just. It was a good experience like this. Just works really well! Oh one final thought: if you own the loving tan exfoliator mitt, you can use that to scrub the hair dye off of your arms or like your neck. I used that in the shower - and i had like i had orange dye all over my arm here and it totally took it right off. So if you have any kind of like crazy, exfoliator mitt or you probably even use like a washcloth and some scrub um, you can totally get the dye off of like your arms or wherever. I would still be careful around the head and the neck area. But on the arms i was able to scrub it off. I feel like that. Pretty much concludes this video, i'm rambling at this point, because i'm pretty tired, i filmed a reel which you should go check out if you haven't already. I started this at like 10. 45 this morning and it's three o'clock in the afternoon - maybe even 3 30. - i'm not actually sure what time it is, i've completely lost track, but yeah. I hope you guys enjoyed this video. I hope you found it helpful now for anyone who's out there who has red hair. You know what this is going to look like on your hair. If you use the overtone extreme orange color and conditioner, i had so much fun doing this today. I hope you guys had fun watching me. I hope it was helpful and entertaining and all that good stuff, and i will catch you guys in the next one.

Lilly: Your natural color and texture is gorgeous girl I would pay to have your hair

Marlena Cremeens: I am a natural red head and this looks exactly like my natural color.

Emily Schmitz: YOU LOOK STUNNING! to be honest you look beautiful before and after, the after colour looks more like my natural hair colour :D I love seeing fellow redheads embracing their hair colour and enhancing it ^-^!!!!

Joy Foot: I have a similar colour to your natural hair and I’ve tried soooo many products trying to make it more vibrant, I love seeing a another redhead test out these products for once!

Marissa Rejana: OMG! First I want to say your hair is absolutely gorgeous! Secondly, I think we have very similar hair color. I used to be more Auburn orange/red, and lately its been looking more auburn brown so ive been researching overtone and trying to see what my hair could look like. I have never dyed my hair before either so it was so nice seeing your journey!

Ellen Braukman: I have dark auburn hair just like you and I’ve been curious about using overtone to enhance and brighten my red hair. Thank you for doing this because I’ve always wanted to do something but like you said, there isn’t a lot of information or other people showing what overtone doesn’t to redheads!

Maria Rasmussen: I am also a natural red head and am also finding it difficult to find others to compare my self with with regards to hair coloring. Feel you girl!

Nicole Mulloy: Thank you for making this video, I’ve been having such a hard time find natural redhead’s who have enhanced their red w/ overtone or even henna. I love the more coppery red also, I have some naturally but I want more lol. I’m strawberry blonde and seeing how it came out on your beautiful Auburn hair definitely helped me chose the correct shade for my hair Thank you!!

Neiyer Morris: Your hair looks amazing ! I’m definitely giving Overtone a try, I’m going through a hair massacre right now... I got highlights a couple of days ago and they were wait to blond so I re dyed myself and now is way to dark Lol... Rrrrr!

Krista Ogle: Would love to see a makeup tutorial for your look in this video! Thank you for the review of Overtone!

karlee garibay: Fellow natural red head here, mine is darker like yours. And I love watching other gingers try out products. Thank you for the video. Your hair is stunning!

Kylie Day: Both colors (before and after) is so lovely! Thanks for doing this, I am a more auburn colored natural redhead too. I have been looking for a way to enhance the color since it's getting more dull with age, so this was helpful to see someone do this with similar hair! Thanks!

itnotme: My hair is the exact description you provided, and looks just like yours in this video, depending how much light hits it, how red it will look. I’ve never considered myself to be a redhead because I’m not ginger or a strong auburn, but I’ve always wanted to be one, so hearing you say I’m a redhead when we share the same colour made me really happy

Donna Stuart: Thank you south for this video! My hair was naturally the brighter red of your "dyed" color until my mid 20s when it really browned out. Now it is very similar to your natural color and I've always yearned for the fire red of my youth! I'm totally trying this product. Thank you so much for your review!

Autumn Long: What shade did you use of this overtone? The colors gorgeous. My natural color is similar to your natural. And is it Demi or semi? Thanks.

Lydia Murphy: Hi everyone! This video has blown up in the last couple of months and I'm so excited to see that so many of you are loving it! I've also recently tried out Overtone's Extreme Magenta and filmed a video of the process + answered some general Q&A's about my experience! Here's the link if you want to check it out: https://youtu.be/kBnOz7b7Nzc

Amanda Lauren: My hair is exactly your hair color too! Most people don’t believe mine is real I’ve never seen someone else with it. Usually peoples are more ginger than auburn. Your beautiful!

Samantha Hallas: I have red hair as well dyed my hair for the first time with overtone a year ago, went with the extreme purple and loved it!!! Was so freeing since we are always told to leave our hair alone Loved the video excited for more :)

sasha: please do a makeup tutorial for your look in this video <3 you look so stunning!!

Cali Kalavati: What color overtone did you use ? (: Your hair turned out so pretty

Katilyn Standlee: I've been wanting to do this to my slightly red natural hair. Thank you for doing this video! Now I know which one to get.

Katherine Fuller: Holy cow!!! I love it. It looks 100% natural. It’s stunning and I’m so jealous!

Emily H: Omg your hair looks amazing before and after but after is divine!!

Des Turner: It looks stunning!!

Cyan: Yesssss! So hard to find redheads making content like this, and it’s frustrating lol! Love it!

kaitlyn leroy: OMG finally, my hair color is so so similar to your hair color. I have been looking for a youtuber who has the same color and I have been so scared to do anything with my hair other than cut it. Love the product review so helpful for me.

Samantha Rose: I've been wanting to dye my hair more copper/ginger my entire life! I have light brown hair that has a ton of warm tones in it. It looks reddish auburn in the sun already like your hair but more darker brown than yours. Anyways, this video got me so excited! I've been thinking about dying my hair for the first time for my upcoming birthday, but I really didn't want to have to lighten it or deal with the stress of picking a salon to go to. This seems way less harsh as I really wanted to avoid damaging my hair. But the naturalness & longevity that it gives seems like exactly what I'm looking for! I can't thank you enough for this video! As someone extremely inexperienced with hair dye, you definitely showed how beginner friendly & easy this product is to use! I think I've finally found what I'm looking for & can finally get my dream hair color! If you haven't already, can you please do a video on the upkeep of your color & how you maintain it with the products you use? Or also show/discuss how often you use overtone to touch up? I'd really appreciate it!!! Much love!

Madison Cox: Wow THANK YOU so much for this girl I feel like u made this video just for me we have the same natural color & the same goalI LOVE THE RESULT!!!! Thank u again I rlly needed to see this now IIMA TRY it turned out sooooo good you look so gorgeous

Sanguine Arts: I can't believe I finally found someone with the same hair color as me! I'm excited to try overtoning myself, I've always wanted that vibrant red.

Adriana Gurdian: Thank you for posting this! I have your same natural color of red, but as I have been getting older my hair has been getting darker and not looking as red anymore. I have been searching for months for a product that can brighten up my red hair again, but there’s such few natural red heads to have as a reference. Thank you!

Rocio Valtierra: Thank you for this video! My color is more auburn too. I am a natural red head and I’ve been wanting to try this exact product.

Stephanie Baldwin: Gorgeous girlll! Love it ! And so funny we have had the same Vaseline for decades as well

Nina: I‘m so glad I just found your video. My hair is like a natural ginger but not 100% so it was just like yours before. I wanted to enhance the natural reddish undertone and used a copper washout, that should stay 4-10 washes. Now it’s dark outside and my hair is still a bit wet but I can’t wait to see it tomorrow morning in the sun light. Thanks again for this video, I’m so happy I did this change and tried hair dye for the first time of my life. I believe this will makes me feel more confident and I can’t wait to see how it looks with different outfits and make up. Love from Germany ❤️

Kimberly De beule: I love this angel ! I’m going to dye my hair tomorrow to ginger ‍

Simply -living: Your natural hair color is the exact color I want lol both colors look absolutely gorgeous on you

Dawna B: My mom's hair is identical to your natural colour and texture!

Laura Ot: It looks sooooo nice! So jealous. Can you do a make up tutorial to the look you're wearing in this video? I wonder what products you used. Looks so prettiii

Xauce: You look stunning, the ginger cinnamon/copper color suits you so well!

Tiffany McNerlin: OOOOOOOOOOO the outcome is STUNNING! I'm a light blonde, but I want to go red and this might be the color I'm aiming for. It looks gorgeous on you. I've never dyed my hair before so I'm a little nervous haha but I've always loved red hair

Slenderfoxx37: Your facial features in some ways remind me of Max from stranger things! Especially now with the more ginger red hair colour! Looks fantastic. You're natural colour was wicked cool too. Cheers from another Auburn fellow myself! Great video.

Luah: I’d give anything to have your natural hair color and texture! Sooo pretty!! Also giiirl you look 10 years younger without makeup! Loved both looks though!

Laura Young: Such a pretty colour!

Ariel Jade: Haha GIRL! I Had dirty/golden blonde hair before my emo scene kid phase... I bleach and dyed my hair so many times so much my hair was fried, Grew it all back out and..... My hair color is now Redhead copper lol... Like I completely destroyed my hair foliciles so much it changed the pigment as it grows now! Like I'm straight up natural copper redhead... It's wackkk, but now I just tell everyone I'm a natural redhead cause thats just how it grows out of my head now (My hair is all long virgin red hair now, no dye at all)

jo-dene vyfer: Hey girl love the video. So I am a stylist in a salon and we do sell colour conditioners like this and I know the feeling you're talking about. Try putting actual conditioner on your hair after rinsing out the colour conditioner, it might help soften your hair a bit

Darya Andriyenko: Omg yess you look beautiful! My hair looks like yours naturally, for sure want to try this!

Blaze White: I’m also a redhead and I’ve never found anyone with my hair color. My hair used to be orange but now it’s like what yours is more auburn and I want it back but wasn’t sure how to get it or how it would turn out on my hair because everyone has either blonde or brown/black hair dying it ginger so thank you

513yingyang: Love your hair before and after with the Overtone.Been looking for ideas on how to refresh, make my natural red hair vibrant again,my color is like yours so hard to find anybody doing stuff like this.Been wanting to try Overtone, watching this video over and over again to give me courage to try some samples to see and even try "Extreme Orange", scares me the thought of that color even though I'm pretty sure after seeing yours it will work.A little scared mine might turn out I found it for you Its the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown instead of a pretty natural color would be my luck

suckerlove11: Gorgeous!! I love it!!

Ashy Lyn: You look like a literal DOLL at the end i am inlove. And the end result is how my natural red looks ♡♡ it looks way prettier on you though hahah

Emily Firth: What product did you use? Looks amazing

Lubov Gladkova: Gorgeous!

Glenn Henderson: I’m a natural red head, but my hair lightens up a lot in summer (spend a lot of time in the ocean and it becomes a lot more “strawberry blonde/ginger”).. I much prefer a colour similar to yours at the start of the video (which I’m much closer to in winter) but I’m completely stumped about where to find information re getting rid of my lighter tones! Is there anything you could possibly recommend? Thanks!

Leslie Van Damme: I want to dye my red hair so badly. But everyone always freaks out if I even mention it. I wanna be a rainbow unicorn

Nick’s Mom: Beautiful ! Makeup tutorial on that look pls

Maple Acer: You look stunning in red hair. You look just like the actress Bryce Dallas Howard.

Mery: Hi Lydia,i have like a natural dark red color, more like auburn. This type of product fades naturally over time? How time does it last? What color do u suggest me to use,if i would like to brighten up my natural hair color? Thanks

Daria Isaksen: Gorgeous ♥️

Bre K.: I’ve never met someone in real life with the same color it’s cool to know other people do too

AH: my natural red faded in my 20s hopefully this will fix my broken ego lol!!!

mely ni: You're sooooooo beautiful ❤

Victoria Power: What made you do the extreme orange vs ginger? I have a very similar natural hair color to you, and I’m debating between the two overtone colors.
