Sharing my journey of how I went from a dark, stubborn red to light blonde.

___

BREAKING DOWN THE PROCESS:

Please keep in mind that you may need to tweak a few things depending on how you went red, the condition of your hair, how porous it is, etc. Also, you can prevent a lot of damage by spreading each step out over a longer period of time. From start to finish, I did this in about 5 days, but I would suggest not doing it any quicker than that, and deep condition A LOT between each step!

STEP 1:

Products needed:

Color Oops http://www.amazon.com/Color-Remover-Ex...

- Fade out as much red as you can by washing in hot water with either clarifying shampoo, Dawn dish soap, Head&Shoulders, etc. I suggest doing this as many times as you can.

- Use a color remover. I used Color Oops. I did this twice, but the second time didn't seem to make much of a difference and just left my hair feeling extra dry.

- Deep condition

STEP 2:

Products needed:

Ion High Lift Color (Cool Blonde) http://www.sallybeauty.com/hair-dye/SB...

30 Volume Developer http://www.sallybeauty.com/creme-devel...

- Mix high lift color and developer (1 to 2 ratio)

- Apply to midshaft and ends. Keep massaging in product and watch for color change. Leave on for about 25 minutes.

- Apply to roots. Leave on for additional 20 minutes. Shampoo & Condition.

- Deep condition

STEP 3:

Products needed:

Lightening Powder http://www.sallybeauty.com/Powder-Ligh...

30 Volume Developer http://www.sallybeauty.com/creme-devel...

Shampoo of your choice (make sure it isn't a toning shampoo!)

- Mix 1 part lightener with 1 part developer with 1 part shampoo

- Apply all over. Keep massaging and watch color change.

- Rinse out as soon as the color is gone. (I left it on for about 30 minutes).

- Shampoo and deep condition

Remember, results may vary. I suggest taking it one step at a time and make adjustments where necessary.

Disclaimer: This is NOT a sponsored video.

Hey guys welcome back to my channel, so today I am going to share with you how I went from this dark kind of vibrant red to this light blonde that you see today now before we actually get into the tutorial part of everything I do need to Share some disclaimers with you and please do not skip through this part. This information is so crucial to know before you begin this whole journey, so number one I have to mention. I am NOT a professional. I do not have a cosmetology license. Any professionals that are watching this video, if at any point, there's anything that you feel like I did totally wrong and you want to correct me: please feel free to do so. I'M not claiming that you know everything I do is completely correct or whatever the next thing that I want to mention is that this is not necessarily a complete universal hair tutorial. I mean like most hair coloring tutorials. The results that I got and the steps that I took to get here might be a little bit different for you, there's so many different factors that contribute to that. So keep that in mind. You might need to tweak things. A little bit here and there so as I'm going through the tutorial, I'm going to break it down into different steps, so you might see by the end of step one your hair looks a little bit different than mine did so you might need to either repeat Some steps or completely skip over some steps, disclaimer number three - your hair - is probably going to be damaged by the end of this process, especially if your hair is currently pretty damaged right now, so you want to really be careful during this whole process. Use a lot of deep conditioners and really invest in good products, and then, of course the last is claim or is to just do your own research, especially if you're not that experienced with coloring your own hair. If you are gon na leave me a comment asking me like what is developer and how does it work and basic things like that? I'M not going to respond. Do your research, Google, what you need to know, don't just use this video alone as your one source for everything, so I kind of had like an ombre going on. I just used a Manic, Panic, semi-permanent vegetable dye and that's how I got the red that I had so I had a semi-permanent color in my hair and the ends of my hair were pre lightened. The rest of my hair was not so that's kind of when I going on for me so step. One was trying to remove and fade out the red as much as I possibly could so, the very first night that I decided that I wanted to start this whole process. I washed my hair in really hot water with just like a really cheap shampoo. Obviously you have red hair. You know the things that you're not supposed to do with it. So do those things wash it in hot water use, cheap shampoos, clarifying shampoo, dandruff, shampoo dish, soap, anything that's going to really strip out that red as much as you possibly can. Now, if you can, I would suggest doing that over like a week-long period and doing it multiple times. I was a little bit impatient, so I just did it the one time, but the more you do that the more you'll be able to get that red build-up out and the easier everything else will be. From that point on then, the following morning I decided to use a color remover, so the color remover that I used was Color Oops. You can just get that at any drug store like Walmart Target that color remover is really good because it works for semi-permanent Demi. Permanent and permanent hair colors, so it doesn't even really matter what kind of red color you have in your hair. So I don't have any footage of me applying the color oops the very first time, but this is what my hair looks like before using it, and then this is what my hair looks like afterwards, so it definitely did make a difference. I mean my hair went from being more vibrant and more of a true red to a more faded kind of Orange II red. So later that night I decided to use Color Oops for a second time. So after I wash out my second color oops, my hair was starting to feel pretty dry. Color Oops claims that it's not supposed to damage your hair, but it definitely leaves it feeling really really dry, always make sure that in between all these steps, you are deep conditioning and at least leaving your hair to sit in a good conditioning mask for at least A few hours, if not like a full day so for step two, I decided that I obviously needed to still take that red out. I also wanted to lift my base color a little bit when I was doing my research. I read so many different things and saw so many videos of people saying that if have an artificial color like red or blue or green or whatever, putting bleach on that hair will just drive the color deeper into your hair and make it like nearly impossible to Remove so I was a little bit afraid to do that. I decided instead to use a high lift color. I read a bunch of different things that said that high lift color is actually one of the most effective ways of removing bright, artificial colors. So the high lift cover that I used was by the brand ion and it was the high lift cool blonde with the high lift color. You can mix that with whatever volume developer you want. I use a 30 volume so with high lift color, you always mix a 1 to 2 ratio, so one part color, two parts developer. So I mix that up and I apply that only to the red parts towards the end of my hair. I didn't want to apply it right onto my roots, right away, because I didn't want my roots to come out like a really bright light, yellowy blonde and then the rest will be like kind of dark and red and whatever something that you can do that. I do recommend is just massaging the hair and just work that product into the hair, and just you know, keep an eye on it and see if it's starting to change color. So in total it ended up being on those red parts for about 45 minutes. So, as you can see, this is what my hair looks like. After using the high lift color, it definitely did make a pretty significant difference. My hair as a whole was just a lot lighter, looking and also the parts that were red were now pink like they didn't look red to me really at all anymore. It was just like a orangie pink. So once again, I completely saturated my hair with coconut oil left it overnight, so that it could kind of rehydrate a little bit then the following day I moved on to step number three. I wanted to lighten my hair all over even more and get those pink parts completely out of my hair. So what I decided to do was do a bleach wash bleach bath whatever you want to call it, but all you do for that is take powder. Lightner developer and shampoo and mix those together, so you one part Lightner one part developer, one part shampoo, so I just took that mixture and I just applied it all over my head and with that you want to just keep massaging it into your hair and just Stay in front of a mirror the whole time and just keep an eye on it and keep watching it as soon as you see that that color looks like it's pretty much all gone, then just rinse it out it's not as strong and damaging as just straight-up Bleach on its own, but they're still bleach in there, so you just really want to be careful and not leave it on much longer than you need to. I think I want to say left on for about 30 minutes. At that point, I want to say: 90 % of the red in my hair was gone. My ends from about like my mouth down were just white. The top of my hair was kind of a yellowy blonde, and then my mid-shaft had some parts of like white blondes, some parts of a very light peachy kind of color, my hair at that point felt so damaged. My ends were already kind of damaged. To begin with, so at this point my ends were just really really bad and I was really nervous to do anything else to it. At that point, I knew obviously my hair was not. You know the final product that I wanted, but I was really scared to do anything else to it, because I just didn't think that my hair would be able to handle it. At this point, I decided to go to a salon, because I knew that in order to get my hair this blonde that I wanted, I still needed to lighten it a little bit more. So I decided to go to a salon so that I could get an olaplex treatment if you've never heard of olaplex before it is an amazing sort of newish product. You can either just do it as a treatment on its own, or you can actually mix it in with your bleach and color mixtures and it will restore damaged hair and also protect your hair when you're bleaching it or doing anything damaging like that to it. So it's an awesome, awesome product. I knew that I really wanted to use that on my hair, because I did not feel that my hair would be able to handle anything else just on its own. So what you did first was she cut. I want to say almost two full inches off the ends of my hair, so she used a level seven hair color with I'm assuming a 10 volume developer on my roots, and she just kind of you know painted that on freestyle. Just really. Naturally, then, after that, she took bleach and she mix that with olaplex, I'm not a hundred percent sure what volume developer she used with the mixture olaplex dilutes developer a little bit so say you use a thirty volume developer mix olaplex in it. I loose it to a twenty, so I'm assuming that she was either a 30 or 40 volume, but I'm not entirely sure. So then she applied that all over. My hair from you know right where it's light down to the ends, and then there were a few parts that still held onto the pink a little bit. So she just took a toner and she literally just put that on there for like two minutes and then wash it out and that's the color that I have now so if at any point you feel like okay, my hair is feeling really damaged. It'S feeling really spongy and just either leave it alone and just deep condition it for a few days in a row, or I suggest, going to a salon and look for a salon in your area. Maybe that carries olaplex because that's stuff seriously like helps my hair. A lot I'll put Olaf Lex's website, actually in the description, so you can go and read about it and you also can find like you can do a search on there to see what salons near you carry it. But even if you do end up going to a salon, if you do at least like the first two steps at home on your own, I think you'll save money at least once you're at the salon, because at that point at least you removed most of the Red, so they don't have to do like as much and use as many products on you. That'S my tutorial. That'S how I went from red hair to blonde hair. Like I said in the beginning, you might have to tweak a few things, but I just wanted to share exactly what I did and what my hair looks like between each process, so that you can use that information and figure out for yourself. What will work for your hair? I will try to provide as much information down in the description of the video as I can. So if you have any further questions, please read that first. So if you found this video helpful, please don't forget to give it a thumbs up. It would mean a lot to me also subscribe if you're not already, I have tons of different hair tutorials on my channel. Thank you for watching and I'll see you guys in my next video bye. So this was me earlier in the week doing deadlifts I was doing 145 for 8. I think, and then here is just a quick clip of me: do

Sabrine Xxoo: I have been a hairdresser for 25 years, and I have to commend you for taking on such a big project. Mostly, I have to say that you did very good research and you did everything correctly. I think this video will really help a lot of people. You are 100% correct in that bleach will drive "direct dyes" farther into the hair. Well done!! Love the blonde!!

Keegan B: This is going to help me SO MUCH, I have been dying my hair red since the pandemic and miss my blonde hair so hopefully this helps

Jessica: Your stories always give me flashbacks, Sam! I remember going to a salon after my red faze desperately wanting blonde, such a difficult color to get rid of- and, i really think it’s one of the easiest transformations (from red to blonde) to mess up!!!

Marian Scissors: As a stylist, I love that you are honest and not bashing professional hairstylist. Thank you!

Vanessa Cevallos: Hi love! This video popped up of yours from 7 years ago!! You mentioned in this video that you weren't a professional at the time but I know you are now. I thought it would be interesting if you did a reaction video to this one and discuss what you would do differently now as a professional hair stylist. Love and blessings. ☺️

MakeupByLovelyJojo: Sam! I have always loved the blonde on you. It looks amazing on you. Your skin tone is gold and the blonde is beautiful on you! I want to go blonde so bad :( maybe in the summer! You're so informative. Love how you explain everything so thoroughly.

Cuppy Cakey: Wow, that’s a lot. I had used the L’Oréal hi color in magenta, and it faded quickly on some parts and looked bad where my roots grew in. I used Color Oops, and it took it all out, and my hair was already the color I wanted. It was 3-4 shades lighter from using the hi lift color.

Rachel Verdi: Very nervous about my big hairdo undertaking, but appreciate the tutorial! You verified a lot of the info that I was finding on my own... my biggest concern was using color remover and then a bleach process, prior to dying with semi perm fashion color. I'm starting with undamaged hair, removing sort of a natural auburn brown permanent dye with color remover, then after the auburn red is gone, planning to balyage my ends and some midshaft with 20 developer and Blacklight lightening cream to lighten my naturally mid blonde to mid brown hair a few levels. Then once those areas are lighter blonde, applying a semi perm teal color. I did get a Bond Angel treatment to use with the color remover and bleach processes, as well as between and after... its similar to Oliplex, basically limits the damage from drying processes.. Crossing fingers! And when in doubt, if it goes wonky, straight to the hairdresser. lol Your blonde came out great, btw.

Jessica: I am a licensed cosmetologist. Do NOT use dish soap in your hair. Clarifying shampoo of dandruff shampoo works just fine. Dish soap will destroy your hair.

Lynn: This was an amazing, educating video! Even though I didn’t really need to watch it as I have colored my hair so many times I know how to remove color now, it helped to know how to use the ion lightener as I have just ordered it along with colorfix to get the red out of my hair. I’m hoping I can get this red out and go to a salon to get an ombré done on my hair, I’m wanting a dark root fading into a caramel brown color, I would just go to a salon to remove the color but I do not have the money to do all of that so I’m stripping my red out at home and going to a salon to get treatments done and have my hair colored! Thank you so much for this video, it was very helpful!

Andrea M: ive been following you since your first blonde video, it was after your video i tried to do my hair blonde (After watching every black to blonde tutorial on youtube, literally). my hair had a lot of black permanent dyes on it after around 5 years so it never lifted past orange which was annoying and a given, so i dyed it chocolate brown a lot like you did haha. then after that i tried the bleaching process again and it didnt work :(. so now im just growing out my normal boring black hair since november until its nice and soft again. it was good though, before i went back to black on my lightened hair i used a lot of fun colours like purple and blue (dark tinted roots with vibrant ends like you did with the red! haha) and i dont regret it all since i had black hair all my life. i love watching your hair videos cos i feel so similar to you except you got that happy ending <3  lmao just want to say that your hair looks amazing now and i'm so jealous of your result. thanks for sharing with us. :)

Justice4you: Very helpful and informative. Going through this now..with the red back to blonde. Thank you.

Sarah Nichols: I did red. What was I thinking??? Now I desperately want it out

Thrift_With_Ki: I've decided to go to a salon to get bleached for a blonde from being a red head for so long! Love all your video!

RhodieM623: Would love to see Sam react to this video & share what she would have done differently since she IS a professional now.

Tabby Kat: I have 8 years of experience with color, in all ranges from cheap drug store demi and permanent color all the way up to high end color, not hating on you because you're awesome. Just giving some helpful info :)

Sukama Youtube: Girls I'm about to end up bald. I wish I didn't dye my hair red, it's too high maintenance. I'd love to be blonde again but damaged my hair going red

Betty Yahaira: Your hair came out perfect! I went blonde last summer and I recently went dark brown. I been trying everything to get my hair to its healthy look again. Thanks for sharing that conditioner. I needed a new product to use. Definitely will give this a try.

Sisi Anitza: Anybody here because you bleached you red hair and your stuck with pink hair now?... no just me.

Redheart: I dyed my hair red back in the day then masked it with ash brown. I’ve dyed it a couple times both box and professional an ash brown. The red keeps fading up and it’s been over two years since I started fixing it. The fading color comes up like a brown/red/orange/brass color and it’s just not cute Any advise anyone?

Ashlee Benitez: I am licensed and I just want to say by my experience if you have warm tones definitely get color oops works great! But if you have any bright colors get color off from Sally’s definitely works now the more vibrant it is it’s harder, so if you need to do it a second Time do so! It comes with a hair mask and a great one to. It’s pretty small tho. After you do that your hair is still going to have a staining color DO NOT BLEACH. Get dish soap purple shampoo and baking soda it works so good!! It gives your hair that icy blonde now I had to do the soap method about 3 times but I used permanent so that’s why. If you use SPLOT this will be so much harder. After that just bleach it one time and spot bleach it then you will have an icy blonde!

erick e: this is sooooo crazy to watch because you're licensed now!! LOVE ITTT

Camille - Offbeat Look: This tutorial was very well done

Yuliana Franklin: Girl your so brave .. lol I try to go blonde once and my hair was left out dry and all weird . And I swear never again... great video and great tips ..

Roni The Babe: Omg I've been trying to get rid of my red hair so bad. It was so bright but I've been fading it lately. It's so crappy.

LadyDarkSky: i am a redken colorist, honestly only 1 process is needed for short hair from the ends to mid, then on roots. best is guy tang big 9 with 30 vol developer. with olaplex. big 9 lifts 9 levels and then you can use Redken Shades EQ 9V Platinum Ice. if you want to go pure white.

Alexandra Madeira: I just used color oops. Last time I bleached my hair was about 2 years ago. 8 months ago I dyed it red. I never touched it up because I knew shortly after I'd want to go back to blond. So after 8 months it was very dull with about 4 inches of roots grown in. After using color oops 1 time - the red was out. It was brassy, but no more red. It also DID NOT dry my hair out at all. That being said, my hair was pretty healthy from not touching it &using coconut oil &I really do believe that only washing my hair 3 times a week really helped my natural oils help my hair strengthen.

Sarahrose518 Mackay: Aphogee 2 step protein treatment after bleaching from sally beauty supply or online is a hair miracle! It saved mine so much! Also hot oil treatments will help restore extremely damaged hair.

MY LITTLE WORLD: I never knew taking out red colour need that much effort. I’m regretting having it done at first place.

Love OneAnother: Color Prep by Color Oops works better than Color Oops. Today it took my hair from a dark intense violet (Violet Vixen) by Feria and it went right back to the blonde that it was previous to the violet. Then I put a champagne blonde over it for about 2 minutes.

rsmrw2021: Getting my hair done at the salon to try getting my natural blonde after boxed red dying my hair multiple times.....Im terrified! Hopefully it turns out decent and I don't have to hide.

Deann Douglas: I love this hair color on you! You can honestly rock any hair color though :)

Cynthia Klimekoski: You can also buy a color stripping product. There are some that don't require developer, and only mixes with water. They're fairly age in your hair, and can be used more than one application in a day.

Martina Turrado: Im not planning to do anything to my hair but I just love watching your vídeos! Much love from Argentina

Harriet Walker: anyone here from being bored in quarantine and you dyed your hair edit: i only just realised i got so many likes and comments edit: I dyed my front two bits red (i’m blonde) and now nearly a year later and it still hasn’t come out…. the front two pieces are brown/red in some lights‍♀️‍♀️

Math Pi Hanan: With the mention of high-lift, how would you compare ion high lift to loreal high lift? I know you have tried both so I'd really appreciate your input. And yeah when I went red I used the high lift about 3 times (through a month period almost once a week) and got really vibrant red without bleeching my hair.

Jessica: High lift color works only on virgin hair (not colored hair), although it can make a subtle difference with a temporary color on it. Not always

Samantha Lopez: Love your hair, I even love it without extensions.. I think your natural curls would look so nice on you

Belinda Maund: Thank you !!! I'm going to a salon.....don't splat your hair!! And thank you for your time in helping us!!!!

Catherine Koroivawai: I was dying for red hair Now I’m laying here embarrassed asf I even dyed my hair red! I’m ready for this red to go lol!

♡ Ashley Elyse ♡: You do every color perfectly lol you can't also pull anything off!!

caitlyn baxter: I dyed my hair burgundy and I don’t like it after all. I’m just going to try to remove it as much as I can by using dish soap and head and shoulders. And then go to the salon in 4-6 weeks from now. I learned my lesson to not do red/burgundy again. I should’ve just left my hair but oh well.

Phaness _: People seem to have such good results with the baking soda methods. Maybe more people should try that before spending the money on countless colour removers and salons etc. I’ve heard people use baking soda, purple shampoo and vitamin c and it works but then there’s also the version where people add developer.

Justy Mystuff: The Aphogee 2-step hair treatment works wonders for damaged hair. I use it when my hair feels spongy. Justy make sure not to wash it out.Only rinse it out. Follow the bottle directions to the t. Aphogee takes time, since you have to blowdry it in until your hair gets hard and dry.But it works. GFor seriously damaged hair, use once or twice in a row and you will notice a huge difference. My ends were stretching and breaking off before the treatment, then after the treatment they werent stretching anymore. Literally saved my hair.A large bottle is AT Sallys for about 25 dollars and will last a long time.each application lasts 6 weeks. But when my hair is very badly damaged,I personally use it every day for 2 or 3 days and hair ends up ,ike it was before I bleached it. Or close to it.

Wendy: I had PLATINUM level 10 hair that took a year to get from level 3 dark hair. I dyed the ends and middle part bright red kind of like rengoku and I regret it so much I loved my blonde hair I hope these methods work

Lake November: Thanks Samantha, super helpful, you look lovely blonde

Nana Zuniga: You look so beautiful with both hair colors :)

Moe Dizzle: I love it Sam!!!!! I used color oops once and it didn't work and left my hair super dry. I wish I could pull off blonde like u it looks great!

Park Bench: You look so gorgeous as a blonde!!

browneyedgirl1100: Samantha, what is the difference with using hi lift ash blonde and hi lift cool blonde over the red (after using color oops)?

PrinceCharming Of York: Red is definitely your color! It makes you shine!

shelby S: I used color oops on my blue hair and it worked perfectly the first time

Lexi Taylor: I know this was posted years ago. But I'd suggest using maximum strength color oops, and when you wash it out you're supposed to shampoo like 5 times, that's what helps remove the red. I used it, and I had no red left in my hair. Just for anyone wondering.

Yasmeen El Ghazaly: Hi :) I used manic panic 's vampire red on my dark blond/light brown hair. It was awesome & bright at the beginning but gradually faded to a deep red color. I thought that if I re-dyed it again, it would be bright again..didn't happen. I thought of doing the bleach bath first with shampoo to lighten the red altogether then re-dye with vampire red again for a brighter red...would that work?

Kaelah Mandes: You look great with any hair color!

Tracy G: Very helpful video! Thanks for posting !

MisfitBarbieDoll: Tyssssssssm high lift blonde and the color oops are on my list lol. My hair is very very washed out already so it'll be easy to get back to my platinum blonde.

Kayla: Im living for that red ! But your hair turned out great !

Yvette M. Rodriguez: Wow girl! Your a trooper lol. Great advice and Im so jelly! I want blonde hair (;

Noel Zitani: merp! i want to do this, to start the process of going to a lilacish color! I'm terrified though lol, but i can't spend all that money at a salon, i rather get out all the red and red tones out then go to a salon to have her tone it like you did!!

Sarah Weaver: im in the process of letting my red fade. im doing that over several weeks, with lots of hot water and shampoos. mines not nearly as dark, or vibrant red. hopefully i wont need to color oops at all before i bleach.

VitaminD_ForMe: I have colored my hair for over 12 years with so many colors.  When going from red to blonde, do not expect it to be an overnight process.  I recommend if you are going for that goal, go to a salon.  However you are better off transitioning from Red to Brown, Light Brown to Blonde.  From what i see in this video, you did too much developing and processing.  I am surprised your hair isn't damaged.

Sam Vay: @Tezaa Torres I actually haven't even washed my hair yet since getting it this color, so I'm sure that will kind of tone out with purple shampoo. My hair is VERY porous, so I'm really trying to avoid using anymore toner. I'd rather have a few bits that are on the warm side than possibly have gray pieces, ya feel me? lol.

K.C. Love: I dyed my hair brown a couple times, then just starting going lighter. Took a couple of months

Diana LaRosa: you look so good with blonde! :)

chunnybunnny: You suit every hair colour and it's so unfair hahaha! Love the blonde :)

Tea Kosumi: This "bleach wash" helps a lot thnx for this amazing tutorial

Taco Of Love: If you put Arctic Fox Transylvania on top of the red it fades into a really beautiful dark purple mixed with the black

d shangreau: you talking about people possibly asking you about developer and telling them to do research gave me the vibe that you are a very honest friend who tells your friends what they NEED to hear even if they dont want to hear it

wildp4ndor4: Y’all remember when she wasn’t a professional hair stylist doing hair videos

Starr: Red & I have a toxic relationship.... I always come back to her I legit just spent months getting my hair to blonde with very little pink and I went thru having my car crashed ...happened to have some extra red hair dye and well... I tried to just to half blonde & red & now basically my whole head is bc it keeps bleeding out LMAO RIP

jhemmuel otlang: What I did (I used special effects for the red) 1st. really wash the red out as much as possible I used my regular shampoo...and wash my hair EVERYDAY for like 1 week.... 2nd. I bleached my hair twice ..and now I think I'm on lvl8-9....i just saw the blonde level on google hahahah lozzz

noitisme1: thank you for sharing your honest experiance I have learned from your video. and I think you really look good in light brown hair.the video titled "black to light brown hair whiteout bleaching"

Alexa Ingraham: Dish soap noooo! Just using a cleansing shampoo with steaming hot water is sufficient! Otherwise it'll strip the natural oils in your hair and make it more damaged when you process color later

candylace510: Get the Ion Absolute Perfection additive and it works just like Olaplex, helped me with all my processing

Elizabeth Ruvalcaba: Your videos are so helpful in so many ways but I'm still confused. I guess cause I don't really dye my hairCan anybody answer my question pleaseI'm trying to get my hair to ash blonde. Is it possible to mix L'oreal hicolor hilights with bleach and a 30 developer? And if so what are the measurements? I have three boxes of the L'oreal ash blonde color and a big bottle of 30 developer ? My hair is thick and it's a little above my tail bone. How many packs of bleach would I need? Please help me!!

first Last: I used permanent red box dye, my hair had grown out for about 4 months. I want to remove the red, but not lighten my roots! I've thought of using a color remover but worried I'll end up with very faded orange and nice pale roots lol. I don't want to regret it! I just want to lighten and recolor my hair forest green, semi permanent color.

twilight122980: Hi Samantha, did you ever try using the vitamin c method to get rid of your hair color before in the past? I use it when my hair color has come out way too dark and it works. A lot of times I use it over a color remover because after a color remover your hair is left really really extremely porous. I noticed it also doesn't dry out your hair like the way color oops does. I thought the vitamin c method wouldn't work but I was surprised that it really did make a difference. I always take about 30 vitamin c 1000mg tablets (not the gummies or chewable ones) crush them in a blender and put it into a bowl, I use my tint bowl, and put in a lot of clarifying shampoo, you can also add a little conditioner if you want. Make sure it's a creamy consistency and put it on damp towel dried hair, I brush it on with my tint brush. Leave it on for about an hour and it will strip a lot of color out. It lightened my hair by two shades doing that just one time. You can also look it up online.

Sam Stokes: A pro hair dresser said that ur hair only absorbs any mask/conditioner/moisturiser in like 4 or 5 mins. Then it wont absorb anymore. So you don't need to leave stuff on for hours or days. Thanks for the video I'm trying to remove pink right now!

Katherine Allison: So, after the whole process, how much did this cost ?

JasmineBraids: I'm also using manic panic for my red hair!

a.shleyyyy: The blonde looks so good on you, i'm in love !!!

Karissa: color oops says on the box it is not for direct dyes. that is why it didn't achieve the desired lift. even after 2 uses. you need a direct dye lifter as that step instead. starting off with the healthiest hair possible always gives the healthiest results. it's pretty crucial to drag out that washing and deep conditioning in the beginning. wear hats, your hair up, try to style it to conceal the fading as you use really warm water and maybe even a bit of baking soda mixed into your dandruff or clerical shampoo. I wouldn't recommend using "cheap" shampoo as the sulphate will damage and dry. if possible do an olaplex treatment before the direct dye lifter step. you will see a much better result with a whole lot less damage.

Catherine: I spent 2 years going from dark brown to blonde and now I want red. I’m afraid I’ll regret it and want to go blonde again

twilight122980: Hi Samantha, I just wanted to say thank you for mentioning about the Olaplex treatment, I never heard of it before and I absolutely love it! My hair got so overly porous from color removers and my hair wasn't taking color evenly, it was starting to become patchy in different areas so I decided to ask for one today, to help the damage done to my hair that was making my hair overly porous. I had the stand alone treatment done just to restore the damage and even out the porosity in my hair and I'm going to have my hair colored after that. The difference in my hair is unbelievable. My hair was dry and brittle before. Now it is so smooth, soft, and shiny. All the frayed split ends that were sticking out are completely smooth. It looks like all the damage was completely erased from my hair. Thank you for bringing it up in your video, my hair looks great after using it! :) Jen

browneyedgirl1100: I LOVE Your Videos!!! Do you prefer the Ion high lift color or the Loreal hicolor hilights?(In terms of function not color). Thank You So Much:)

Ida Cardenas: A gentle hair color remover I use is my Jason C Effects Super-C Cleanser. It's a Clarifying n Brightening Wash for the face n it already has vitamin C in it. I get it at HEB or u can find it in any organic store...about 10.00 bucks. I had done Hi-lights in my medium brown hair n they were to light for me so I colored it with medium brown color but it went too dark. So I shampoo my hair with a clarifying shampoo first n then on wet hair I shampoo with the Jason C Effects n left it in 30 min. n u don't need that much either cause it lathered up just like regular shampoo. When I rinsed, it felt dry but just condition afterwards n it's ok. This facial cleanser did the job for me. My hi-lights now look like a light brown to dark blonde color up against my darker hair. Thx to Jason C Effects facial cleanser.

Sweetest Mamas: What Mac shade are you? I'm an NC35 thinking of going blonde. I'm currently at a 3N brown. Just wanted to find out a nice blonde for my skin tone thanks xo

Shelby Rose: Hi, I just wanted to let you know that you used the highlight color wrong. Highlight colors are use at 1:2 ratio with 40 volume. So 1 part color 2 parts 40 volume.

Andy Fam: Color oops never let me down before... until now.

I Am Because of YOU: So I used the color oops on my red and got it back to a goldish brown , needless to say I went in with manic purple haze. The ends are purple and the rest is that original color. I'm not sure what I did wrong:( please help!

Jennifer: Omg Thank U For Posting This I REALLY Appreciate it!!!! (:

Lynn J: Not a fan of Manic Panic, but, it comes out with permanent hair dye. Unless they changed their formula. I used it when I was a teenager, whenever I wanted to change colors, I would use a permanent dye to remove it. Special Fx, on the other hand, nothing gets rid of all of it... I finally dyed it with a darker ash color to cover it up.

Natalia Sf: i love love love m’y red but.. it’s time to go green and i don’t think my damaged hair can take another full bleaching i am about to do this i will update this comment in a few hours with my results !!

Etherea Magia: you are so beautiful, im going to go blond then dye it pastel turquoise :)

Ellen Johnson: Do you wear clip-in extensions? If so where did you get them? I love them <3 You're gorgeous!

Amber Tomkins: My hairs been so over processed by dyes colour removers don’t lift my hair at all I wouldn’t use soap on my hair it’s harsh I’d use shampoo and lemon juice to lift colour, protein hair mask every so often to strengthen hair, when I dye my hair I use olaplex or the dupe vita plex

K Sonneson: This color looks great on you!

madison: Can't believe you had to do all of this to get Manic Panic out of your hair. when I had Manic Panic in my hair it faded with only one wash

Brenda Kocourek: Yeah after this video I just made an appointment for the hair salon... Not gonna go through that much damage to correct the color in my hair. lol
