-I think, it's always daunting to try a new look.. Whenever you try a new color, you don't know how it'll look with your skin tone, especially such a drastic cut.. I don't know how it'll look with my face shape, but I think that I'm excited to just try something: new. Hi., I'm Maya. And today I'm getting a copper bob with curtain bangs.. But before I get my transformation subscribe below. I was definitely inspired by ``, The Queen's Gambit.''. I loved Beth's look and I think that it's a chic sophisticated look and I'm so excited to try it.. I think that having a unique look gives you a sense of self, and I think, especially during the pandemic sitting at home and being unemployed, I think, having a new look will give me some motivation to put myself out there and try new things.. I have had blunt brunette bangs.: I've had teal hair., I've had hair extensions., And this is the first time I've done a red tone. And I'm super-excited to see how it will look on me. Hi. -Hi.. How are you -Good.? How are you -Hi.? My name is Akeem. And we are at Spoke & Weal in New York.. I am a haircut and a hair extension specialist. -Hi.. My name is Liz Rhodes.. I work at Spoke & Weal Flatiron in New York, City., I'm a hair-color specialist. So I love to paint people's heads.. -Maya has long hair, so first I'm gon na precut her hair, just to knock a lot of the length out. Right now she has long hair. So I kind of feel like that covers her up a little bit.. I feel like going this shorter length and adding the curtain. Bangs are gon na open her up, and it's gon na give her an overall amazing look., We're going to cut it a little longer because she has a natural wave into her hair and she also wants to be able to wear it straight and textured. ♪♪ -Today. We are going to take Maya to a really luscious bright-copper bob., We're gon na start by doing an all-over color on Maya., Nice and rich at the root so that it's not too light. After a full color we're going to go through and balayage. Some really subtle. Sun-Kissed beds through her hair, just something a couple shades lighter, so it's not too dimensional or too contrasty.. We just wanted to make it look really natural and like she's, a natural ginger in the sun.. So after we get the color all on her head, we're gon na take her over and she's gon na process for 30 minutes., We'll pull all of the foils out shampoo. It really nicely. We're gon na do a series of glosses on it just to make sure it's really shiny and the tone is very progressive. And then we'll shampoo. It blow-dry it and get her hair. Cut. -Once she's colored she's gon na come back to me and I'm gon na finish. The cut off. We're going to make her bangs piecey-textured.. She doesn't want them necessarily blunt.. She likes a rock-star kind of punkish/messy. Look. -I think I've always done hair changes with turning points in my life. And I think now being in this kind of unknown period of my life being unemployed. I think it's definitely the turning point where I need a hair change to push myself put myself out there and try something new. -All right. We're done.. Are you ready to see the finished? Look? -Yes., I'm so excited. -All righty. -Oh, my gosh. You guys, You guys really killed it., I'm obsessed. -It looks so good.. It looks like you were just meant to have red hair, and these bangs are it. -Oh, my God. -Yeah. It'S definitely the bangs for me. -It's, the whole look.. It'S the whole look. -Thank you! So much. -It was our pleasure.. Thank you so much for letting us play., -I'm, loving it so much.. I feel like I had an idea of what it could look like, but this just exceeds any expectation that I had walking in..
