There are like hundreds of women that are lining up and they are coming here to the moon island to possess the. So the ceremony is about to begin so yeah. Let'S tell us something about the ceremony here. Okay, you may see this sacrifice ceremony here. You know the one in the front, it must be someone in the village that has a very high virtue here and this and he is blessing. You know this family is blessing, the people in the village. You know we wish we will have a good weather for the clubs and we will have a good harvest in in a year in the last of the year, oh uh, now after the sacrifice ceremony, the girl, you know, staying in the front, the girl will cut Her hair later, but there will be somebody like her mother - will cut her hair for her yep. Her mother, her mother will do that and then later that you know the others cannot see, you know they will cut the hair and then they will. You can see her mother stands behind her and will cut her cut of hair, for so the her is about to begin yeah yeah. This is the beginning, see the girl is almost crying. It'S too exciting. It'S a very important day for her, her mother and the others will put her hair the other hairs on the head. Together, you know in the yao family we never threw our hair away but keep them together and put them on the head together. Now they are helping her to peel the hair on my head, so the mother now is collecting the hair and she's going to put the hair on the girl on the go's head. They will show their long hair now. Maybe we can follow them and have a look they're going to wash their hairs. Is there anything special about the hair washing? Yes, you know the hair of the yow. Ladies or girls are long black and bright. You may see. What we use is is not the normal shampoos, but we made the we made it ourselves and that's quite very ordinary in our daily life, because the water, the rice, water, all the water, after washing the rice, you may have a look. They will pour some in the barrel later on now, have a look? Yes, this is the rice, water and rice water, the water, after washing the rice they're, putting in a big barrel and boil them together with some orangey skins, and then you know, keep them in a big barrel for about half a month or month. Then, after that, we use them to wash our hair. So what's the benefits of this water, this is good for the hair. After washing the hair, you become very soft black and no white hair, even the very old grandma you know. In the village, she has no white hair. Okay, this way of washing hair has passed down from generations to generation a long time. How long has the tradition has been passed down about 100 years? Maybe i think more than a thousand years, thousands of years? Yes, since the answers of the yaw okay, now they are now washing the hair yeah. They are washing the hair and show you. You know how we wash our hairs in the daily life. How long would you usually wash your hair and say um not quite often openly, you know, because it's very hard for us to wash our hairs. You know every like in the summer, every three or four days and in the winter every week yeah we watch our hair. How long? How long would it take if you wash your hair one time yeah when we, you know the rice, water? We put the rice water on our head and then we'll keep on the head here for 20 minutes and then 20 minutes later we wash our hair. You know in the river, yes in the river, usually yeah the river. The water of the river is quite clean and you may see very small fish there's fish, but we cannot see. Now we have fish fish in the river. Yes, okay, now we are going to the lady who's got the longest hair in this village. Michelle Dowdy: Aside from learning about the use or rice water for the hair, this video is highly informative and educational. I love how colorful the people are, how gentle and revered as women. I have so much admiration for their tradition being passed down for generations, and still being much respected and loved. The communal, helping one another nature of the wash day is what we used to do until we became modern. Even though they are wearing the same clothes, each woman is unique in her body shape and look. This is really wonderful to see.

Sandra Sutton: I am so emotional seeing all these women follow a tradition from years ago not only for beauty but for the respect of their culture!!! So beautiful and the hair styles are nice. Love this!!!

Joy: The water plays a huge part in hair health. When i temporarily lived in a farm, we had water pumped from a spring for our cooking, cleaning and bathing. My skin was so clear (even though i had no clenser), my hair was super shiny and my nails grew fast. When i came back to the city all that changed. The minerals in spring water / river water are rich and pure. The fermented rice has amazing aminos and benefits.

Leslie Mal: Does anyone notice that the ladies in there 40,50, and 60's and beyond don't have hardly any grey hair??? It is thick black and beautiful!!!

Aly Mae: What a beautiful ceremony and set of traditions. How their hair is so sacred to them... so wonderful... we come from such different worlds but this makes me emotional and gives me amazing insight of this village and it’s culture...

Andrea W.: There is less stress in these villages and they gently take care of their hair. This is probably why it is so beautiful. ...Family and Togetherness is important. They take care of each other.

Jenn Sou: We live in America where we color, flat iron, perm, and add extensions. These women embrace their natural hair! Beautiful

Britt Cee: I love how they all help each other clean their hair❤ so lovely to especially see the elderly so respected.

Thun Ka: Their genes are incredible, not just the hair but their skin as well. They all looks very young for their ages

Peace Key Artistry: I did the no shampoo method on my hair for a while and my hair grew so fast. Oh also the inversion at the same time, i got almost an inch a month. I was surprised it actually worked. The first week and a half was gross though, my hair had to go through that crazy oily hair faze I couldn’t stand but after is was sooo nice.

BRWNSKN: What's beautiful to me is that the ladies do each other's hair...that's caring. Also, the 3 different wraps were very interesting.

Lanny Ogarro: This is a very beautiful documentary; so rich in culture and ethnicity. Love how it captured my attention, really wish I had saw how long the girl hair was before she cut it! Beautiful people❤️

Ruthie R: I think since they do not apply heat to their hair or bleach it like many women in the west do, that plays a LARGE role in length retention. And just an FYI, if y’all have heard of the brand SK-II, their “miracle ingredient” is pitera. It’s literally just rice water. Instead of spending $99 for their “essence”, you can just make it at home with rice and water.

PR-36: My grandmother who is 80 has as many grey hair as I have currently in my late 30's. She's always used herbal products and always oiled her hair

Roshan Ara: The secret of her hair is that fresh river water and pollution free environment

Charu Yoga: such a beautiful tradition. I love to see your village women help each other comb & wash out the hair. Its wonderful to see a closely knit community help each other...I hope to visit your village one day.

Lisa Eischens: It’s so interesting to see how they uphold their culture and differentiate between the married women with children, those without children and then the single ladies. Very beautiful women.

Casie Millhouse: I love seeing amazing cultural festivals in China. I would love to visit the festival some day

A Colón: Thank you . It’s wonderful to see such beautiful traditions still carried out. Lovely people.

Nasreen Thasleem: They gathered together just to take care of their hair..thats unique and amazing!

andris p: This sounds great! Getting ready to start, but confused about the preparation. How long do one has to boil rice for, any measurements, when do you add the orange peels? Also, what happens if you already have gray hairs?

Rebecca: I wish there was a fraction of culture and community here that this video showed of all these beautiful women coming together and taking care of each other.

Ray: They’re basically using rice water and doing protective styles. Makes sense.

Alice: They all seem so welcoming and lovely ☺️ I would love to visit that village 100%

Ellie Martinez: why am i just finding out about this if it’s been around for 1000 years!!! insane how we live in this modern society. Damaging our hair everyday omg!! the things we learn! i’m soooo amazed

Supriya Naidu: These ladies are so blessed that they are having this kind of hair.

The Queens Concubine: Long and healthy hair is not the only thing that runs in their genetics, they are also all so beautiful, I am stunned beyond believe.

rrreee: My head was so dead, dry but I tired the rice water and my hair grew so well and I finally got to chop off the dead hair without having to go bald ✋

Its me: the thing is: they take care of theirselves without expensive products or expensive hair products! I just started with using rice water and I’m excited to see the results.

Grishma Ghimire: Everyone is talking about the hair but their skin is also very glowing and beautiful. Even the women in their 50's 60's look so young. They are really beautiful inside out.

Eduarda Brito: I’ve been researching this for a week! The river water and clean environment of course helps but it is mainly the rice water. Why would they go through all that effort with the rice water if it was just the river water?

888 888: Wow this is like world Guinness record holders for the most women with the longest hair in one village beautiful

Tangle journey: I am Sri Lanka. I have a knee length hair (22 years old). My goal is ankle length hair. yeah. it's true that rice water is helps to grow hair faster.i try this now every day.

synchronicity676: Amazing! So much of community life n fun.. not to mention d fascinating hair of each of these beautiful women! Styles recognized as married with kids, without kids n unmarried Keep sharing more of such traditions..

Jess Rabbit: I think the internet hype over this is overblown. These women obviously have good genetics for hair growth. Additionally, they never style their hair with any heating tools, they dont use chemicals, they have nice natural water without any nasty additives, they use protective styles, they brush from ends to roots, theyre gentle with their hair, etc. A lot of the damage our hair incurs is because of what we do in the western world.

Pete Hall: An excellent informative video. I have studied and admired the Red Yao of Huangluo village for many years and possess two of their lovely embroidered jackets. The long hair of the ladies is remarkable and very beautiful indeed.

Ugyen Dema: Apart from wonders the rice water’s doing, it’s beautiful how their hairstyles represents their marital status and the way they keep the comb right on top is extremely efficient.

JMB: This is so beautiful! What a culture. Just amazing! Thank you all for sharing!

Claymore007: I am from a Yao subgroup Iu Mien(Pan-Yao in Chinese) the Red Yao is a very interesting group. And Pan is a common last name aside from Chao.

V.J. Cooper: What a beautiful display of culture that has been passed down generation to generation over 1000 years. The rice water washing is also embedded in their DNA for over 1000 years. .... These beautiful woman have completely different DNA makeup and come from a completely different culture. Just don't get caught up in using something that is foreign to your scalps and body. Fermented water may not be the best choice for our own African hair. These women don't mess with their hair in any way... no added products, no shampoos, no weave, no glue, no gel, no hair curlers, no hot comb, no braids, no front lace wigs, nothing! They let their hair be natural. The problem with us is that we just can't seem to let go and let our hair be natural. We have been programmed to look a certain way which means we have to obtain a certain hair texture. I've been a victim of that thinking too. I would love to see one of these women and thank her for just letting her hair be itself... Just natural hair!

Branco Zorina: No white hair or falling hair even among the older women. Such healthy hair!

Lisa Scales: They also don't over wash only once a month and not with harsh chemicals also their food and lifestyle is healthy probably no drugs

carmen bailey: All of these ladies have eleagance and beautiful hair, also love their tradition. Thank you for sharing

Val Willman: I love watching these women doing their hair with LOVE!!❤

Deanna Cook: Imagine having your hair down to your knees and it being called short hair

Deepthy Binu: I am also going to wash my hair with rice water .Is anybody there who is thinking like me

fionaberri: This is so interesting!! I love their culture it's so cool!! I wish to visit there someday!

Amber Best: Such a delightful people. ♥️ You can see, hear that these are some of the relatives of the Native Americans that conquered the Americas 20,000 years ago. Also, you can see the similarities to the Russian and European cultures with the clothing patterns, and head scarves. What a beautiful world we live in I have always loved long hair, and am going to try doing a recipe like this♥️♥️

Racqs Real: Rice water is incredible. It also slows down greying. Black rice water is even better than normal rice. I’ve just measured by hair and it has grown so much with organic black rice water.

Bianca: They’re so beautiful omg I’m so amazed by their hair and traditions I love it !!

_sadgirl_: they all have such gorgeous hair, this is my goal for my hair journey

Vannabrooke101: Beautiful! I am inspired to grow my hair as long as I can!!

Ray Mewes: Tradução em português, por favor!!!

Charrise Stroud: I luv it..from the customs to the costumes Everyone seems so happy..

Sara E: They are so organized and calm, wish the people of village were like that

Zina: I wish I lived with them so they could take care of my hair. My hair is so hard to manage. It’s dry dead not shine frizzy. I don’t even know how to take care of it.

Ariana Lona: Rice water really works I’ve been using it for a week and I already see a dramatic difference in my hair. my hair was severely heat damaged I remember my hair would just brake off and now my hair is healthier than ever. And I know the results are from rice water because that’s all I put in my hair other than water for rinsing

Vaishakhy Vishwanath: I love their traditional dressing style it's soo good looking . I wanna try it once

Smh Hardy: Such a beautiful culture, people, environment...so tranquil!

arfa khan: I am from INDIA my mom always uses amla for hair and she is now 55 but my mom hair is really very healthy long and no grey hair

rayhan mohamed: Quarantine got me finally taking care of my hair

Anu Gnanesh: River water is best for hair than the ground water... Ground water is hard that's why our hair starts thinning unlike the river water. River water also plays a role for their long and thick hair

Pink Princess: I wish I was brave enough to catch a flight and sit on the airplane all those hours I would absolutely love to be around them learn about their culture and stay to live around all that beautiful energy and culture of honest traditions. Thank you for sharing this video it means a lot. I wish I can run into one of them in texas but um yeah probably not

Phylis: We all should respect each other. We are human.

Bizz: I think your hair grows and health is about your gene pool, dietary, lifestyle and environment. Your hair adapts to your environment. These women live in such lush organic greenery, a river that has alot of mountainous natural minerals and less pollution, their diet is probably organic and less meat as I can't see anyone obese. Then walking through these hill give them some exercise to stay healthy. They are not city people racing after money and eating cookies, cupcakes or chocolate. Their life is less stressful. I wish I could live very basic but fulfilling lives like them. I just hope we urban people don't go polluting their region and take over our diseases.

Priyanka Boddu: I'm literally losing my hair.. So i just wanna try this.. Hope that it may work

Kristie M: Naturally beautiful women wow . I have so much pride in my culture

jage: No relaxers no curling irons no dyes highlights etc. Which is killing our hair plus stressy life. Today I'm going Yao. Thank u!!!

Jennifer S: Never mind their hair, this village is gorgeous! I'd love to go and visit there.

Murphy Ross: Incredible history and tradition. Im amazed!

Shazia Asif: I had beautiful thick, silky soft hair.. But 3 yrs back when I moved to Kuwait, the hard water here has gradually made my hair degrade so much, that now I'm left with 1/4th hair, dry and extremely brittle... Water is the only thing that helps keep hair healthy..

Elisabeth jean-louis: Thank you for this, absolutely beautiful ❤️ you and the lady were absolutely wonderful to show us.

Kimberly Castillo: So impressive, I think I'll try it. Also, just another observation, amazing how well the speak the English language. So educated and diverse.

Fatuma Khamis: Love and support to the women who have that kind of long hair

HVideos: This is the importance of preserving culture.

Michaela D: I think the quality and length of hair is most influenced by genes, then the way of washing or nutrition...

Mary Riseling: This is a beautiful video I love seeing the different cultures and colors❤

Uzuriuk: Not only are these women quite beautiful their skin looks amazing...don't forget the length of the hair.

Sistah Jan Anderson: Wow!! This is amazing! This is the first time I have ever seen hair this long. I am going to try this for my hair also using the rice water and orange peel.

MiaFlowerPower: What an amazing countryside and what wonderful people

Jessica Perez: I just started doing the fermented rice water but I add lavender essential oil since it promotes hair growth. Can't wait to see my results long term.

Ya Basic: 12:04 RECIPE: "The water after washing the rice we are putting in a big barrel and boil them together with some oranges skins and, you know, keep them in a big barrel for half a month or a month, then after that we will use that to wash our hair."

Astrology Babe: I’ll gladly live there if they got hair like that and gorgeous skin These people are so beautiful oml

nelpe1975: My hairstopped falling put so much since i went on 'no poo' hair treatments! (THAT, strangely enough, also cut down my nasty migraine attacs!) Only nature on my hair & it improved! Tought me a big lesson! Stear clear of chemicals, where possible, if you want to be healthy! Stop falling for nonsence adverts!

Manju Shekhar: Cut Pomelo/Grapefruit/Orange/Lemon's skin into pieces and soak it in rice water which contains 8 to 10 drops of any essential oil or castor oil for atleast 3 days. After 3 days it will turns into light orange colour. Apply into hair and keep it for one hour and then wash it off ‍♀️
