Are you looking to use hannah to color your gray hair and you want the perfect recipe and technique to get long lasting coverage? Well, i got the answer for you right here in this video welcome to my channel. My name is khadijah. I am the ceo and founder of hennessuk. I specialize in natural hair dyeing with henna and arithmetic hair care and also gorgeous henna body art, so welcome welcome welcome to my channel. Let'S get into this. Let'S go over a few things first, so first gray, hair are like a totally different hair than what your natural hair is. It'S just it's just plain and simple: it is a different hair, so we are dealing with a hair that is more coarse. It resistant to coloring - it is definitely you know not open to receiving color and treatments in general as easily as your natural hair, usually would have been. Color can be hard to penetrate, especially at the roots. So it's the same thing for henna and all chemical dyes. If you're experiencing that, that is just kind of the way that it is so we have to do a few things to like. You know, work around that, and this is also why you may have to do more than one application. You know you might not always be one and done when it comes to henna, hair color. You might have to build up that tone. You might have to do. You know two or three applications. You might have to be patient with it, but the payoff of naturally coloring your hair versus using chemicals is huge. You know for your health for your whole body from head to toe, i mean you are taking care of your body, your hair, in a much better way, so you have to approach it with a level of patience, and it's very very important to note that, in Order for indigo to cling to your hair strands. You definitely have to have henna in your mix, because henna acts as the base and that foundation of henna color allows the indigo to cling to the hair strand and bond better and make it longer lasting. So when you're, using your henna and choosing the one for your coverage, make sure it is a pure body or quality henna powder that we carry here at henna silk, especially our red raj. If your hair is very very resistant to the coloring, it's going to secure the indigo and get you much better longer lasting coverage as well. Some advice i want to share with you when you are coloring, gray, hair and you're. Just having you know, a struggle with it make sure that you're clarifying your hair beforehand use our soap nut, hair wash our soap nuts hair wash. It is infused with soap, nuts and peppermint, and you know something that acts as a natural clarifier. It'S perfect for your head to open everything up and the peppermint as well, because it's just so you know, opening you know just makes the hair receive. You know the color so much better, especially those tough stubborn grays. So i highly recommend that you clarify beforehand all right. So let's mix up some of your henna powder. Okay, because you need henna powder, it acts as your base. It helps the indigo cling better to the hair strands and i'm using warm to hot distilled water to mix this up. Henna typically takes about three to four hours to be ready. You know completely, so you can just let it sit there and come back to it. You don't necessarily have to cover it if you want to that's optional. That is completely up to you, but just add in your liquid slowly at a time until you get it to the consistency of kind of like a thick full fat, yogurt or mashed potatoes, and let that sit there and get dye release. And this is going to be the base that will help the indigo cling to your hair strands to get the best gray coverage and if you are by chance using henna by itself, this will also cover your grays. All of our henna powders work. Amazing. To get you great coverage, but if you do have resistant hair strands and hard to color hair, you definitely want to check out our red rash henna powder, because it has the highest a loss on content, which means that it will dye the gray hair better and Stronger and now we're going to mix up our indigo powder there we go got a good amount of indigo. There add in our warm to hot distilled water mix, this up really well and gently. You might notice that the indigo powder and some of our aerobic herbs in general just kind of float just give it that moment. It'S going to thicken up really nice there. It goes see, see there, you have it and then you'll notice. It probably needs a little bit more water, and this has a faster dye release, so this will be ready in about 20 to 30 minutes, and i like to leave everything thick on purpose, because that way i can add more liquid later. You know i just want it to be wet, like wet like this and still pretty thick, not liquidy, and that's a mistake that some people also do make when they're coloring their hair and grays. They make it too runny. This is not a chemical hair treatment. It'S not going to be very liquidy, it's going to be more paste like so let it sit have dye release, don't make it too thin. Let me show you in a little bit once these release that die fully and they're ready to use. I will show you exactly the right consistency it needs to be so you get the best grade coverage while you wait for this to have its dye release in the meantime, i want you to pause and make sure that you're also going to be watching the video That i have on applying the henna and the indigo hair color, because the way you apply it also affects the color outcome. You definitely want to watch that video, because i have really good tips in there that will help you get better coverage. It'S very important to also leave this in a paste form. I actually just realized very recently that some customers were mixing in a little thin kind of like how chemical colors are mixed, and you don't want to have this runny watery. You know non-paste anymore. You know inky type of formulation. Please make sure that your henna and your indigo are paste like it has to be like a thick yogurt or you know you know very fluffy, pancake mixture. You know it has to be able to be on the hair in that way to get you the best color and it's not going to like dry out and that's another thing. You don't want it drying out on your hair either. You know you want to wrap it and cover it up. The edges especially keep them moist and dampen if you really want good penetration, but the edges and around the ears can definitely always be stubborn. Just make sure that you're layering at the very end another thick layer around your edges to get the color really good because you know sometimes, if you don't do that properly, it'll just be dry and crumbly, and it's not really doing anything when it's like that and You also want to make sure to use our henna care balm only along the hairline un, like under the hairline. You know on the scalp, make sure you're not getting like oils or vaseline or balms, or anything don't use vaseline by the way. Any of those things on your hair, because if it gets on your hair, you're not going to get coverage on that spot, so i also noticed that some people were getting like, yellow and different tones and color like when you know your henna is working well, it Won'T be yellow, like there's no way that it should be dyeing your hair, yellow. If anything, it's going to be this bright, crazy, orange, you know or coppery tone that's going to really stand out, but if your henna hair color gets kind of yellow like something's wrong, so that's a flag. You know so when we're kind of discussing those are things that we question we ask about, you know how did it come out and like? Oh because, if it comes out kind of yellow, that means your hen is pretty weak and it means that your indigo is probably not going to work well leave a greenish tint, and it's just it's just kind of like a trickle-down effect of just a bad combination Of like that, it won't come out well at all. You know, so it's just showing you that something went wrong. So just note that's really really important, so you might have to color your hair a couple of times and probably maybe about two or three times. Maybe sometimes even four to really get it to layer depends actually on how resistant your grays are or how light your hair is uh. It'S not really. I haven't seen four times for me. Personally, i usually see two or three times you know to get really good. You know saturation and the colors building and, as you do more applications too, it builds and it clings and it gets stronger as well on the hair strand, which is great but the roots. Remember. Those are like virgin like new hairs as well, so you will have to attack them as such, but don't give up don't give up. You know you got this. Let'S talk about this dye release. I mean look at this indigo. This is what your indigo should look like when it's ready look. Look at this guys, ready pull back boom. You see that light color. This is indigo that has achieved dye release and really it's only 20 to 30 minutes. So we know that's ready. Now, let's check out our hannah, oh yes, how do i know? I know just by seeing all these pretty little pools. Look at all this little pooling of orangey! Goodness you see all that. Look at that and i pull it back and it's a little lighter green underneath, yes, okay! So i'm seeing that change in the color and the consistency and it's just getting all smooth and creamy. Oh, my goodness, i'm going to show you how to make the recipe for resistant, gray, hair. So, first and foremost, if you have very resistant grays and you do want specifically a dark tone, you want like a chocolate brown. You want even like a black or soft black you're kind of going in that direction, even even the same, possibly a brown. This would be definitely a brown recipe you're going to be using equal parts of henna pour that into my big bowl, because i need a bigger bowl to do all this mixing. Just like that all right and then i'm going to add my indigo and remember optionally. You can add in some aloe vera powder, if you want to add more moisture, have your hair feeling softer and just amazing right so and then from here we just mix it all together. You could even add the aloe vera powder at this point. If you would like to, you could definitely do so, and you only need a small amount for this amount. I would probably only add in about you know one one teaspoon should be plenty. It goes a really long way, so this consisted pretty nice, it's a little too thick, so just a touch so only a little bit of warm to hot distilled water, not too much. I don't really need that much. I just want a little bit because i remember i wanted to be a paste, but look how creamy and smooth this is guys. I mean come on. So this is your brown recipe, so your hair should be freshly washed. Ideally, with remember, use that soap, nut, hair, wash guys and then you're going to apply this all over and leave it in your hair for three to four hours. If you have a steam like a steamer or a heat cap, you can cut that time in half. So make sure you apply it all over watch that application video and then you can wash it out with our cleansing, co-wash and then from there. This is the trick. You may have a really nice brown tone and if you are happy, that's great honestly, a lot of people who are doing this for the first time, probably don't get that on their grades right away the first time. So what do we do? Well, ladies and gentlemen, we are going to be after that recipe has washed out, and your hair is still damp, you're going to be mixing up some more indigo, because we have none left. So we have to mix some more up and enough to do your hair again, so you're going to be definitely coloring your hair again with just indigo, and what i want you to do is leave that in to go in for just an hour or two. And yes an hour two just to get that brown dark brown tone. If you want it to be black, you can leave it on for three to four hours. That'S fine and you'll get the color that you want. So that is that's the trick you to get that indigo in a second step, it's going to just layer and get darker, and it's going to come out exactly the way that you want to, and this is kind of this, the way that i feel like speeds Up the whole process of doing you know several applications to build up to this tone but yeah. This is exactly what i recommend for you. So there you have it our natural henna, hair color get rid of those pesky grays, that's my tip for you guys to get the best possible coverage, and another tip is, if you have someone around that, can check out your hair if you're at home and just Make sure you've got all the spots, you know that will be helpful as well or just give yourself a really good massage and make sure it feels cool like a cool sensation all over all over your scalp and then you'll know that you got everywhere and remember It takes a little patience at first, but the payoff of doing your hair naturally is is priceless. So definitely, you know, try this method out and let me know in the comments below, if you tried it out and i'd love, to hear how it came out or are you still struggling? HennaSooq: Do you struggle with coloring your grey hair? Let me know if you have any questions after watching this video and I will help you finally get those resistant greys covered!

chanreka: I use a plastic cap for my hair overall but I then wrap my edges with Saran wrap. This always ensures they don't dry out and they get great coloration! Hope this helps someone

Appalachian Crochet Designs: Love your videos! I have been using henna for 7 years now after an immune illness caused me to become extremely sensitive to perfumes, harsh chemicals and bleach products. Henna keeps my greys away and leaves me healthy and not feeling sick for 2 - 3 weeks after treatment. For anyone with chemical sensitivity who wants to color their hair with a natural shade of red... henna is a goddess of perfection.

RitaSlanina: I’m new to henna and have recently undergone a hair detox. So now my hair care is 100% chemical free and non-toxic! Yay! You mentioned some things here I had not known and will integrate into my henna color routine. Thank you!

Angelica Gomez: After watching many videos I saw yours and finally decided to give henna + indigo a try. I followed your tips to the letter and it worked! These two covered my grays way better than any hair dye I tried in the past (and I tried a lot!) Thank you!

redhaired_ beauty: When i used to dye my hair darker i used henna first on my roots and then the henna and indygo mixture. It helped a lot cover all greys and colour was more intense

Elizabeth Moore: Hi Khadijah. Can you do a video on touching up the grey roots only? Also, I use a few different oils in my hair. Does this make the color fade quicker, and which oils are best to use to prevent fading before the 4 to 6 weeks of the next henna treatment? Thanks for this video . I will do the 2 step treatment on my next henna day.

Nancy: I got the best results this weekend by doing henna + indigo as step one. After 4hrs, I washed it off and did step 2 with indigo alone and let it sit for another 4hrs. My goodness... my hair turned out jet-black and super shiny. Even the stubborn greys at the front were not spared. The application process and waiting is quite hectic but totally worth it.

R V C: I find that if I use a 50:50 henna:indigo ratio for the first application, my greys do not get covered. I typically need almost 100% henna for the first application. Then on the second application, I do 75:25 indigo: henna to achieve a darker brown tone.

Kimberly Skrobol: I've been using their Red Raj for years to cover greys. I like the copper color, so I don't bother with the indigo step. My tip: I brew my henna powder with hibiscus tea as the tea has an acidic pH (which increases dye release) and is itself a beautiful red color. Once developed, I add a few drops of lavender essential oil as this also helps release lawsone. Gorgeous results!

choczRN 187: I been using Henna Sooq- Red Raj + Amla powder for years now! I’ve used many other henna lines but Henna Sooq is by far the best! I get the best copper/ brown tones to my grays! I love the products and definitely recommend!

Sweet Melanin: Hello Kadija I use Henna Sooq - Red Raj and Indigo and follow your 2 step henna dye process to cover my grey hairs and it works!

Caontie Mcneal: I am just the happiest person here! Just started using your product and have stubborn grays! But I got discouraged because of the way I was doing the application. This is a right on time! Thank you

Nessa: Hi Khadija, thank you for sharing your expertise with us! Can you use henna and indigo on keratin/brazilian treated hair?

Fabrice Sery: Great info, thank you so much for sharing. I'd like to add that I used to have very dry scalp and hair after henna treatment. I could see and feel that my hair is super healthy when wet. Unfortunately once I dry it up, my scalp would itch and hair became crunchy until recently when I discovered glycerine oil . I add it to the treatment during henna application and every other day to keep my hair and scalp well moisturised. I couldn't be happier! Ps: Glycerine oil is a little sticky but keeps the hair so moisturised and soft. I'm not sure many people would appreciate the stickiness lol. Personally I don't mind because my hair is pretty short :-)

Truth Will Prevail: Thank you very much for this tutorial. It is very helpful. ❤️. How much henna and indigo should we use for shoulder length hair? Also, in another video you mentioned adding orange essential oil and Amla powder. When should we add these and do we add them to the henna or to the indigo? Thank you very much for your help. Jazzy Allahu khairun

Gopony: I use this method for root touch ups once a month but I only leave it on for 2 hrs. Still works great.

Gladys WJ: I LOVE YOUR CONTENT AND PASSION. I AM BIG ON HENNA AND THE 2-STEP PROCESS TO GET BETTER GRAY COVERAGE EVERY 4-6 WEEKS. I ALSO FOLLOW UP WITH HENNA/AMLA GLOSSES AS I AM A BIG SWIMMER AND FREQUENTLY WASH MY HAIR AS THE SWIM CAP DOES NOT TOTALLY PREVENT THE CHLORINATED WATER FROM SEEPING THROUGH AND BOTH TEND TO CAUSE THE COPPERY/BRIGHT ORANGE TO PULL THROUGH. WOULD YOU ADVISE REPEATING THE HENNA & INDIGO MIX TO COVER THE GRAY; AND IF SO, AT WHAT LEVEL OF FREQUENCY? LASTLY, CAN INDIGO BE ADDED TO A HENNA/AMLA GLOSS TREATMENT? AND WHAT WOULD BE THE BENEFIT?

Rae Sans: Hello, I purchased your coloring course. I followed the instructions and my grays were not covered. My question is how soon should I wait to reapply and when I reapply do I have to do the 2 step again.

Naturally Dunn: I do the 1 step process to color my greys. I do the henna and I’m loving the red color Red Raj gives my greys

AugustinesDreams Learning Center: Hello I brought some of your items a year ago and now I’m ready to get this gray out. I need to know what are the measurements you use so I can get this right because it’s going to be my very first time. Thank you so much.

Kim Murphy: I just started watching your channel. Maybe everyone is different but I mix henna with apple cider vinegar and peppermint, lavender and rosemary essential oils and get perfect coverage of my grey hair the first time. My hair does grow back really fast but I still only do it once a month and my hair loves it.

Kani Othman: In my experience, I have used henna right after mixing and it worked. The same happened with indigo. I tried also the henna leftover over a week and it worked perfectly on grey hair

COCOANUTSHEA: Awesome instructional video. Thank you!!

Diane Delfino: Hi Kadija.. Do you not recommend adding amla to the hennna because I would like to get a medium brown with VERY limited copper red tones

Elizabeth Moore: Hi again. My question is: How much indigo do you use for bra strap length and burgundy tones?

Ingrid Walker: The one I just bought, seems to be more coarse, it's more pasty and takes longer to die. Does the coarseness affect how well the henna dies?

Selena: Love this advice!

T C: I absolutely enjoy your videos. They are very informative and entertaining!! My question is, I do not have color in my hair but I have some medium blonde highlights. How can I get more blue or violet tones with my henna color if I do a one hour henna treatment? Please assist. Love, Love your channel.

jae dee: How long does this coloring process last?

Azeb: This is my first time To watch this channel thank you for sharing I learn a lot I always mix the powder together and I’m waiting for two hours and applying on my hair but today I learned a lot thank you so much again for sharing

Kim C: Luv luv luv your henna products and indigo and although I have been using them for two years I learned something new, I think my consistency is a bit to thin The next time I apply it I will use less water & will do the 2-Step process to help tone down some of my coppery hues. Thank you for continuing to education us

Shirley F: Hi! I am natural and would love to use this method. I was wondering, is it OK to use this method (looks great) and continue my hair care routine which includes washing my hair once a week

Andrea Nehl: Does mixing henna in an iron bowl help to bring out less red/copper tones and more neutral brown tones when doing a one step henna indigo application trying for medium to dark brown? Like is it worth me searching out an iron bowl ;-)

ANA KARINA MARTINEZ RODRIGUEZ: Hello Khadija, I have to say that I love your products, they feel so nice on my hair, they blend so easily and I love the shine on my hair but, I've been struggling a little bit with my mixing with indigo. Let me tell you that I have to make two steps.  First step: I just use Red Raj (my favorite) with hot distilled water and I leave it for 24 hours, completely cover with plastic to not to let it dry; next day I apply it on my hair for 1 hour and henna works beatifuly, I mean: no gray hair and I get this orage color. Step two: Next day, I make 65% organic indigo(20 minutes), 20% of Red Raj(pre-24 hours) and 5% of Cassia with distilled water and insted of aloe vera I use flaxseed gel  and I leave it for 3 hours on my hair and I don't kwon why but I don't get an uniform color 'coz some parts are dark and some like light brown chocolate. What do you recommend me to do? Thanks for your time.

Amnesi Antoinette: So I used henna for 4 hours and it was too copper. But as soon as I rinsed it out, I used the same leftover henna batch on the front part of my hair line for 30 extra minutes. Rinsed out then used indigo for two hours, On the parts where I did the second (30 min) henna, my hair is still dark. .. everything else, henna and indigo washed out and became very light. This was also the first time I did NOT use heat…and also the first time the color faded…So heat cap seems to be key for grey to black in my experience.

Aneesah the bless1: Hi! How long after using a protein treatment can i use henna treatment

Tree Hugger: I used the 50/50 method on my hair last night and my hair looks auburn. It was late last night when I washed the mixture out. I used a deep conditioner and leave-in afterwards. Can I use the indigo on my hair today when I have more time? Or does the process have to be right after you rinse out your first treatment?

melina king: Thank you for your video. Does cassia powder have the same advantages as henna?

MoonLightOnWater: I didnt realize that I could cover grays in one step! I do two steps henna for an hour and indigo for an hour and it looks perfectly black.

Beauty In4C: What henna can I use to color my nails? How do I go about the mixing?

Diamond Heart: I've been trying to achieve black hair using henna and indigo a few times. It hasn't worked. It takes the henna but with the indigo all I get it coppery red on my greys. That's doing it separately and mixing them together, different consistency, adding different items, still not black. But I'll keep trying.

L A: Hiiii!! Thank you so much for this video!!! Question for you. What if the 2nd step organic indigo powder that you added salt and water to doesn't turn indigo color before you apply it on the hair??? Usually, the indigo powder turns indigo/bluish within 10 mins of mixing the indigo powder, salt and water, however, this time it remained green at the time of application on my hair. I didn't cover the mixture at all with plastic wrap to allow for dye release before applying it on my hair. Will it still turn my hair black? Thank you so much if you can reply.

Javed Khan: Thank you for your amazing videos! I have noticed my hair smells really bad after I have dyed with henna and indigo. How do I remove this bad smell of henna/indigo? Thank you

depaul7: I just ordered henna from you, but I forgot the balm! Is there anything you recommend that I can pick up at the store.

Tracey Lennon: If it turns yellow you probably let it sit past the 3 or 4 hours..don't let it release overnight or make it too watery!!

Pamela R.: You have saved my life I am allergic to ppd . my hair look like a snowball and I want my black hair back. thank you

Laura Solano: can you add coconut oil to deal with the smell?

Martine Lecorps: Hi HennaSooq how often do you apply the henna?

Angela Gayle: What proportions should I mix for light brown reddish brown(like a dirty blond) my hair is gray, but my natural hair color was a mousy brown/dirty blond.

Catherine Fuller: I used henna alone 5 days ago. Can I use indigo to tone down the orange Grey hairs by itself?

Angela Laing: Hello! Is it possible to see some actual results?

Le'Vette: Thank you so much for this video.

Leslie Terry: Thanks for the video I have never done my grays twice I will do that the next time

L A: 3:20 Wow!!! Only let it sit for 3 to 4 hours for henna powder mix? We usually let it sit for 6 hours before applying it on our hair. We also mix it with warm coffee water and keep it covered while it sits.

VivianRW: 06 15 22...You briefly touched upon using Red Raj for deeper coverage of grays. How should the Red Raj be used ? Should in be used instead of Jamila Henna in conjunction with Indigo ? Please advise. Thank you.

Step Stepens: Hi, to the hennasooq community, to achieve a black tone, when do you add the indigo to the henna, at the beginning or at the time of hair application?

Emily Oliver: Ok thanks, I finally get it!!! I think it will work this time! Let’s see

Rosemary: Assalamu alaikum my respected sister I was told a little yogurt into my hennah is very good. I'm so happy I found your channel

KeepThaHateAway: Hii, are the results permanent?

Cinnamon_Shaw: How often can you use this? My grays show up every three to four weeks

The Sunflower Child 🌻: Do you sale your products on Amazon? Or just your website? Love this channel

SIXX: First time never works for me. I always mix henna with indigo first and then add more indigo for another 3 hours. White hairs are a tad reddish and that's it... I am never able to get my white hairs dark. Do I have to do the whole process again the next days or just the indigo? for how long? The whole process is a waste of an entire day and a pain :-(

yvonne wright: I have a few grey hair especially at the front of my hair/head. I tried using henna about 4 times but it didnt work, the indigo i dont know where to get it. There are some videos where persons used lime juice instead of water to mix the henna/indigo. Can you say where i can purchase the indigo?

LSimon321: Someone more than likely already asked this question. It's hard to search comments on YouTube. After doing the 1 step method, my hair is too wet for me to be able to determine if I got the desired shade of dark brown. It looks like I did; but the next day once the hair has dried, I discover it is still redder than I want. Can I rewet my hair and reapply the indigo to tone down the henna? I'm trying to obtain a very dark brown. Thank you.

Chamari Rajamanthri: Iam from Sri Lanka and my hair was light black after 3 applicatoins. I washed hair with water only. Applied oil after 2 days. Colour started to remove and I could see on pillowcase towel everywhere. Please give me an advice. Iam allergic to all artificial hair clours.

josephine mutiso: can you deep condition after rinsing off the henna indigo mix

Tracey Lennon: I got the Jamila instead of Moroccan this time with organic indigo!!

bukkyawox: Would you suggest the mix of indigo and henna for pesky greys? Or the 2 step process is more effective? Do you still add salt if mixing indigo and henna together?

Tracey Lennon: Brown tone for me..for my greys!!

Alicia's Talk Sessions: my roots are always burnt orange or light brown..Another great video Hun
