hey guys welcome back to my channel today's video is gonna be about how I camouflage my thinning hair and my silver roots now as most of you know I went through a hair loss slash hair shed I don't really know what to call it lasted for a few months maybe about 3 or 4 months and it was pretty alarming and I have since stopped cutting the hair but I'm waiting for some new hair growth so especially right in here you can tell that there's just um it's just very sheer in this little triangle here now there is some hair growth that's already started to grow in but it's very short so it's just kind of sticking straight up so it's not really a camouflaging that area just yet and then here in my temples you know I've got some other shear spots so anyways um because of that I really try to go a lot longer between coloring my hair anytime you've ever gone through any type of hair trauma the last thing you want to do is just mess with it at all so I'm really trying to go a lot longer between coloring my roots and stuff but my roots are very very silver as you can see and so usually you know the very last thing that I do whenever I'm getting ready before I'm about to head out the door is I touch up my roots so I'm gonna do that for you right now and and then we're just gonna say goodbye so this will be a really quick video okay so this is a product that I'm going to be using it's called grey away and it's made by a company called ever Pro and I just picked this up at my local grocery store and it was like eight or nine dollars it's got this little ribbon oops that's the pad that you're supposed to use but I don't mind never obviously never used that pad because it just looks like I can't imagine that it would have a really nice finished look or anything you know with a girl stamp but here's something I don't know what the right word is to use there but anyways um this is the color this is actually a light brown but it really sits on my silver hair really nicely and gives me kind of an ash dark blonde which is something that I really like kind of it almost gives me like a little ombre look it's not what it's called hombre hombre anyways usually I will put my head in a headband first just so I can really get a good you know view of all my silver hair that's really framing my face get that really well and then I'll start on my route so let me just go ahead and do that and I'll show you how we do it now I use this brush right here it's just an elf brush you can use whatever brush you'd lie just seems to work really well for me so so you just dip it in there and you want to try to be careful not to get it on your skin even though you can get it off your skin it really really sticks to the hair for some reason and you can actually go two or three days without washing your hair and it will not fade out or you won't have to touch it up this is what it looks like now I don't mind getting it on my skin like on my scalp but I don't really care to have it like especially right up at the front you see how I just did that but it seems to come off your skin pretty easily but not the hair so it works out great as you can see I'm really really sure right in there but this is just such a beautiful color now whenever it gets like that whenever it starts to look patchy like that I'll take my hair down and I'll take a brush like this with bristles and then I'll just brush it and for whatever reason like I said it really stays on my hair but it seems to come off the scalp or every once and all I'll grab a little baby wipe or something like that especially if I make a mistake um I don't want to be too rough with my hair but these brushes are pretty gentle okay so that's what it looks like right there now let me go ahead and do my part real fast and then we will okay so that is it that is how I buy myself some time between coloring my hair and that's how you can buy yourself some time between salon visits if you visit a salon regularly so and on top of it I covered up that sheer spot that you saw earlier that was kind of right here it really helps to camouflage that and it really helped to camouflage my silver roots so now I look like a teenager with dark roots and I'm just kidding I have not seen dark roots home myself in over ten years they have been getting silver like this I've been chasing that white line for a while now so anyways um that's how I do it's so simple this stuff is really cheap it lasts forever and you know you kill two birds with one stone that is a weird expression so anyways thank you for watching and I will see you next time bye

Andrea Pulver: I'm in the same club! I can color my regrowth, and within 48 hrs., I can see gray! Do you generally just touch up the roots or color your whole head? Also, have you tried Minoxidil 5% for hair loss? Are you taking iron and biotin?

Julie Holbrook: Great tips. I started hair shedding in my late 30's. Ugh, ageing! I love how firm your face looks for your age - no jowls or sagging. Is there anything you do that would be specifically helping with that?

Beauty By Anne-Marie: I need to get some root cover up and give it a try! I would love to stretch out coloring my roots at least an extra week each time so am going to look for a light blonde one. Great demo, looks really easy to do and made a difference! Do you prefer the powders or the sprays? xoxo

harrisonpamela40: I have been experiencing thinning in the same areas. I touch up my roots pretty often at home between colorings, and I've wondered if this was the root cause of the hair loss (no pun intended!). I use a powder or spray to compensate when I'm trying to stretch it out, but haven't tried this one yet. Thanks for the suggestion!

Damaris Rodriguez: Love it! We have the same graying pattern and sheering pattern. This was helpful. Thank you.

Jackie Sue: Hi Jenifer...I'll have to check this out. I have used eye shadow to touch up my roots--yes, it works! I use a much smaller brush than the one you used though--a flat eye shadow brush is usually what I use, or sometimes a blending brush. It's kind of amazing how well eye shadow works. It too stays until I wash it out. Great video!

katslo: Hi Jenifer, I love this product, it works especially well along my hairline. But I hadn't thought about using a separate brush. Much better than the stampy thingie! xo Kathryn

Jenny Slatten: I use a brown eyeshadow from my elf matte eyeshadow palette to touch up my grey roots. It really works!

Norma Lopez Ingle: Hey Jennifer thanks for the info I will be ordering this on Amazon right now.  It must be normal I'm thinning in the exact same areas.  I have such thick coarse hair and used to complain about it all the time.  Wouldn't you know now I wish I had every strand back.  Along with the roots coming in so fast it certainly does not help matters.  It seems like in those areas on the sides with the grey it makes it look even thinner ughhhhhhhhhhhh!!  Have a great weekend enjoy your Friday wine.  I just might have a glass myself, its been a tough week.

Lisa Bradbury: I have just started using the charles worthington powder, its a loose powder that you scrub into the hair with a kabuki type brush. Really impressed. I have tried the sprays but they are messy and leave a sticky residue, but this powder leaves non and actually adds lots of body to my roots. x

Elle Is For Living: I am getting this! I love that it lasts on the hair between washings. I need to extend the time between coloring as it is just so stinking hard on my hair. Thanks Jenifer! ♥ Elle

Beauty101byLisa: Great video Jenifer :-) Love the powder!! I use Madison Reed Root Touch Up and it lasts forever. I've had the same one for over 2 years XOXO

Luxy 11: Hi, have you ever used or thought about using Rogaine? I'd love to know you option on this product. I've been through loss for last 2 years and it's really upsetting, I've always had long fine hair, it's never been thick, and now due to loss it's like I've lost half the amount and hair line looks more receded too...I have the urge to start Regaine which is what it's called here in the UK but I don't know why I feel a bit scared to try this out incase I end up worse off. Also, the product you show in this video, what is the ingredient list like...? Thanks

Rootflage Temporary Root Touch Up & Haircolor: That does look really pretty on you! If you are interested, I would love to send you some Rootflage to try,. It is a temporary root touch up powder that doubles as a dry shampoo, conceals thinning hair and comes in 25 colors. It can be used for highlights, low lights and color correction too. Let me know if you are interested. Keep up the beautiful work! xo

Geraldine Terrell: Jennifer great demo!!! I will definitely give this a try because I have the same issues with my hair That you have!! Thank you for sharing!!! What grocery store did you buy this product in???? Love Your channel!!❤️❤️❤️

Beth Hughes: I needed this because my hair is thinning, especially in the front. My husband says it's just in my mind, but you know women......we know. I do have thyroid disease, but it's never affected my hair. I'd love this to make the hair look fuller.

MAKEUP FOR MATURE SKIN: That's a great alternative for stretching out a touch up! Thanks so much for sharing.

Cheri Ross: Hi from Canada! I started trying to cut and color my own hair and it's not too bad . I see you hair color is a lot lighter than before. I would love to see a tutorial on how your cut and color you hair now. Have a great day!

Sparky Today: Jenifer,  I have a keratin treatment done to my hair every six months, will I be able to use this or will it affect the keratin?  Thanks, and thank you for your awesome videos, you are an inspiration!

Beverly Grabowski: You're beautiful! Thank you so much for doing a video on this. Greatly helped me out! Can't wait to try this product.

Tanja 123: Hey gorgeous. Hairloss is my forte. I am using the Loreal spray for the top of my head (because it is really quick) ... around the hairline I use a powder from Colour Wow. I use a light brown colour to fill in sparse areas and I use their blond to touch up my blond highlights (the blond is really great and not at all yellow). To thicken my hair I make a diy volumising spray. I fill a spray bottle with water and add epsom salt and msm powder. I spritz this on my wet roots and blow dry up side down. Dry shampoo is also great to give oomph and volume. Thinning hair or not - you are still beautiful .

Janna Lynn: Quick and easy!! Looks great!!

Monika's Beauty & Lifestyle: That came out great Jennifer. Are you using any special shampoo/products for hair regrowth?

Michele Eures: Jenifer, I know you have medical reasons for your thinning hair, but have you ever considered the use of headbands, towels on wet hair, and the styling process as part of the reason for the hair loss? I had the same thing going on and have stopped wrapping my wet hair in towels, no more headbands, and also, I put my retinol product up around my hairline. I do this because I saw an improvement in my eyebrows when I started using retinol on my eye area. My thinning eyebrows have grown in. No science to back that up, of course, but just a personal observation. My hairline is coming back now, too.

Melissa Rogers: I had a scary hair loss/ shed problem and I had to stop doing blonde. I now use either Natural Instincts hair color by Clairol or Age Beautiful hair color from Sally's..these seem to be much more gentle for me. Thankfully, Now seems to be growing back. Also taking biotin. Thanks for sharing info on this issue! hugs ☺

Mstoastie R.: I've used this brand before but just today I tried the "Madison Reed" Root Touch Up and OMG this stuff I Love!!! Ladies it's a bit pricey but worth it, I will repurchase this one. By the way, I love how you made this work for you, it looks great on you!

michelle savageau: Thank you for sharing. Thinning hair is so scary. I am just experiencing that right now and I'm not sure what to use to help stop it. So scary . I do use the grey away spray but Iam finding my scalp itches after so I'll try the powder.

anna.m.: so happy to have found your channel, Jenifer. and not only because of a great content but most of all of your beautiful energy:))) xxx

Shannon Daversa: I have about 2 in of silver because i havent had the time to go!! My husband and family keep telling me to let it grow out.. it IS a pretty color and evenly distributed but im just not ready!!! Im 48.. it sure would be easier but gosh growing it out i would feel so unkept!! Great video!

Marie Joy: Tnx Jennifer for The fantastic tip, I'm forever battling my grey roots, you don't worry cause you're beautiful inside and out!

Jeanette H.: Very helpful--thank you!

c b: Thanks for sharing!! That looks really good and much easier than those sprays!!

BB Jonas: Hi, I haven't tried this yet, but saw something on YouTube where they use coconut oil before dying their hair. They leave the oil on while dying. It protects the hair and scalp. May want to Google and see. Thought since you are trying to be gentle with your hair while it's growing in, you might want to know. Xo

Dianne Hopewell: I've started taking a biotin supplement for my hair & nails; I've started to see improvement. Maybe a possibility for you if you haven't tried it already.

AW Raley: I bought some of this stuff from Ulta after I saw your other video where you mentioned it and I LOVE it!

Maura Noonan: I need to try that root cover. The sprays seem to be very sticky. And my roots show up so quickly that I need something in about two weeks after coloring. Another great video!

Andrea Martin: When you are ready to color your hair please do a tutorial on that. I would love to see how you do your highlights.

Kristi Tassone: I use this stuff too and it is the BEST! good video :)

rdml1125: I am going to have to try that product. My silver shows 2 weeks after coloring. My hair grows FAST.

♥️DazzlingChick♥️: Jenifer, Great Video! You are so beautiful and you shine so brightly from the inside out. I totally support you and your channel. Please be encouraged to continue to make videos and watch your channel grow. God bless you. Love and Light Carli

Maureen Webster: I love the L'Oréal spray....it really stays

Jean Marie: This product looks nicer than the Loreal root touch up that I use. The Loreal is a spray which is very messy. I need to try this.

Samantha Burks: Thank You! Seems like a great product. Stays on in between washings?! Wow!

Julie Larson: Do you think the powder on your scalp will prevent new hair growth?

So Blessed: I use the Joan Rivers Great hair day and Wow this is so much more reasonable in price. Thanks for sharing sweetie.

Ranalynn’s Lifestyle in Hawaii: I like to do the same thing...I don't like to color my hair as much. I like to drench my hair in coconut oil and let it sit for an hour or two before washing drying then coloring when need be. I use a powder product from WOW or Toppik which is a spray when at home. I travel with the powder and use the spray when at home. Excellent job Jenifer. Stay fabulous. Hugs

elaineg60: WOW!! That stuff is amazing!! Do they have any lighter colors I wonder? I think I mentioned several months ago that I decided to just "go silver". At my age, despite most it actually being my natural color, very light golden blonde just doesn't LOOK "natural". I had also had the problem of my own hair loss due to Graves then severe hypO-thyroid after removal; and my hair was coming back in 4-5 disparate colors-which looked even worse. I had a few people ask me if I or a hair dresser had messed-up. NOPE, just Mother Nature!! Anyways, going all silver to wait and see if I inherited the beautiful "Silvery White with a touch of blue in the sun" that my mom, Uncle & family have always had--wasn't as easy as I had hoped. The girl who cut my hair a few months ago actually told me what to use & how to do it and said since I DID now have a majority of silver in the new hair AND my hair is super-fine; that I shouldn't have the common problem of grassiness. I did. Most of it is out now and except for a little more golden blonde than a few months ago, you can't even tell I did anything-Thank God!! My primary doc & good friend would have pitched s fit had he seen me! My hair in room light looked exactly like my ex-husband, an ocular albino. In sunlight or fluorescents it had an orange glow. I've spoken with a friend who did it successfully from a darker blond that either of us, using completely different method and products but told me to give it a few months, condition it REALLY well during that time. Another week and I'll know... AND another friend from France sent me a "hair chalk" kit-in case I want to "go European like all the older ladies are doing over here! Baby Steps... Quick question, have you tried making your own cream eye shadow? I have 4 different recipes I'm going to make this weekend when I should have everything. The difference in the video you did on that was amazing and I already bought my most common colors in cream. My daughter, 37, says she uses NO powders at all anymore-ALL cream and that it works wonders. We shall see!!

TheWilsonm323: Great idea . I'm going to try it .

Dawn's Life, over 40: I wish we Ladies didn't have to color our hair. I try to be as clean as I can be. I feel like my hair dye undoes all my good intentions. I'm not ready to stop coloring though:). That root touch up matches your hair so well. You did a great job of covering the silver and it does make your hair look thicker in your hair line! Very nice review! Much love, Dawn

Dee: Thank you for doing this video, I need a product for my gray roots. I ordered it on Walmart.com Take care, dee

navycottoncandi: What grocery store did you purchase this from. I have been using the bumble and bumble colour stick works fine but it's so pricey

R Mee: Love your silver I have to say ❤️

KathysBeautyCareChats: Hey sister! lol!!!!! Umm nice. omg so easy!!! How genius are these powders!?! Love your teenager roots!! I really do! Pretty! Thanks for sharing honey! Xoxo!!

PEACEATLAST: hi Jenifer your face is so beautiful I never really notice your hair, although shedding seems to be huge problem for women these days!!! love from Ireland.x

Kells: Hey Jen Just watched an ad before your video started and it was on a product called Regain ?? It's a hair moose ( I think as I never watch those dam ads , I nearly pressed "skip this " but decided to watch the last 8 seconds of it ) A hair moose or gel that is applied to the hair to stimulate hair folicals ??? I'm thinking about checking it out :) Do you have any info on this or anyone else ?? Have a great day .

Prof Georgeous Lady: Thank you for sharing Jenifer Jenkins. Appreciation. Love your videos.

Madeline Texas: About 8 months or so I started to get my gray hair in the front of my ears more on one than the other ear & some on the front top I see is not that noticeable at least on the top I'm thinking because I'm a natural redhead or I don't have enough gray yet every one that I mention my first grays then my age I turned 53 on the 5th so they go is about time my mom was the same way & my 3 sisters & 2 brothers

Melissa Woodward: Hi Jenifer! Do they make it in blonde?

Heather Pier: Have you thought about just embracing your silver? I think it would look beautiful on you.

Betty Heath: Whaaat? I didnt even know about this stuff! I need to try it. I wonder if it would go on easier without touching the skin if I used a disposable mascara wand...?

FUN BBTV: Liked

Girl Boss Plan: OMG me too!

I’m a child of the most high God 🙏: I just dyed my hair today and I regret it .

Jenny Brown: You’d probably look lovely with grey hair.

Marie Diana: looks great...

Kristy Fuller: Great idea but i think that color is wayyyy to dark gor your hair. It just looks like u hv dark brown roots and havent colored your hair recently instead of gray roots and u havent colored your hair recently. It just looks like your natural hair color is brown and you diet blonde but this would look really good if you got a blonde color because then it would look like you had no routes that were uncolored at all anyway this is just my opinion! I love all your videos and you are absolutely gorgeous and to be honest this is the first time I’ve watched one of your videos and had an opinion that was different than yours so I hope you don’t take this as criticism or anything like that because it’s not meant to be it’s just meant to be an outsiders perspective and if you don’t agree with me then that is absolutely OK I hope you have a great day and I look forward to your next video

Corey M: You look so young and fresh!!

TerriLynn46: Do you have a Snapchat that you share with your followers?

M.B. Ortega: Talking about looking old, I don't think it is hair color that makes you look old. It is the thinning and the condition of your hair: hair that looks one-dimensional and without a healthy shine looks unattractive. I stopped coloring my hair and have about 20% white hair. It is so freeing not to worry about covering up grey hair and I still feel pretty and put together. I rather focus on having shiny and soft hair, smooth skin, white teeth and a toned body. I think that those four things really make the biggest difference in looking young. Grey hair is just a color.
