I started my gray hair transition journey in March 2020 and knew it was going to be at least a 2 1/2 - 3 years process but due to hair trims to tame split ends I feel like the finish line has been crossed! There are still a few bits of brown but basically I'm DONE. I didn't get as white as I hoped for but I'm happy to just go with what is and I am so relieved to be free of coloring my hair. I am salt & pepper all the way!

Hello, hello welcome to the Deborah Berry Channel. If this is your first time, I am Deborah Berry and this channel is all about fashion and style and holding on to your pretty ladies, we must hold on to our pretty and to my returning subscribers, as always. Welcome back, thank you for the love you give me each week now. Ladies, I know this channel is about fashion and style, but today's video is going to be about that pretty part holding on to our pretty or you know, maintaining our pretty make sure. You know that you feel comfortable and doing your pretty and I'm going to talk about. I think I'm on the last legs. I feel that I'm on the last legs of my gray hair transition Journey. If you followed me, you can look if you look back through the videos you can see where there was so much Brown, so much red and I started it in March of 2020 right when the pandemic - and I was like I am done - I am not coloring Anymore - and that was before the pandemic, I had decided, but we had one more function to go to remember where I had to. I said I dyed it and - and I look back at those pictures - and I look so I don't even know how to put it. I look so flat. The hair is dark and Dusty. There'S no depth to it. There'S no highlights in it. It was just I covered the gray, you know the new growth and I said: that's it, I'm not doing it anymore. If I can find a picture I'll show you that fat picture I was fat and my hair was dyed. I was Dusty looking to say the least, but I was happy. I was in love with my fresh husband, new husband. You know, I think it was our second year and uh. I was in love, but you know I look back and go. Oh, my God. What was I thinking, but we grow, we learn. We evolve and I did a video a couple of weeks ago of me doing. My hair from you know start to finish of how I, when I wear it straight and in that video you'll, see that it's much longer since that video I've gone and had a trim. I had I I had so many little broken pieces of hair. You know. That'S when I know it's time for me to go and get my ends cut because I'll get these little bitty pieces breaking. It ends with just brittle and dry and they were breaking so I went and had her trim and I just go in for a dry trim. I don't I do my own air at home, but I'll straighten it and go in and and she cut it and I'm telling you I hate, losing my length because if you look at the pictures in that one it's down to here - and I was like every Time I get it down in here it's time to go, get it cut, but we were trying to get up the rest of that brown out. So there's still some in here there's a lot of Gray but I'll give you a close-up, but you can see Browns here some yellowing I may have hate putting too much heat on it. I don't know, but basically it's fully transitioned and I'm gon na just say it's fully transitioned. I still have some brown on the tips. If you can see that I have some brown on the tips which you know she wanted to just really cut it long time ago I said no and in the video you'll see this hair is so thin, but you know - and I show you the Good - the Bad and the Ugly, so you know just don't judge me, that's how it looks. That'S how it looks. There'S like nothing up here. Ladies. I mean this is thin on top. I just don't have any but oops we're caught right here, but I want to encourage you if you're on the fence about transitioning do it it was a no-brainer. It was easy and what's the hardest part, I think, is the first few months when you've got that line of demarcation and it's right there and you know once you get past, that hey wear some headbands or something once you get past that and it's back there And I loved putting my hair up and all this was the black and white and then the red was there that didn't bother me. I thought that was kind of cool and uh, but I kind of you know I was holding on. I think to that brown. I just was like well, I still got the brown, but I had to let it go and I really wanted my hair I wish was wishing it would be white white, but it did you never know what you're gon na get until you get into it. You don't know how how much gray you're going to have how much you know of your regular hair you're going to have it's it's all genetic, it's all preset and I really wish I had much much more, but I think if my hair was thicker, this white Streak would really stand out. Do I have a little white streak but didn't stand out that much, but I mean she cut it so nicely I mean it. Just nothing can beat a great haircut. You know if you get a great haircut, your hair will fall and everything - and I'm telling you, ladies I'm trying to grow these sides out, don't cut sideburns, don't cut it. I mean because I almost was last night. I said I'm cutting it back off they're. Just I show you if I can show you here: it's growing out, but they're slow. I wanted to just go behind that ear and stay and it's a wiry little hair and I think it never goes real long. That'S why I cut it in the first place, but I am making this way longer than it needs to be. Watch the video of me. You know how I do it to get it like to wear it straight. You know just look at it and, and it features the launch uh utensils products. Everything of what how I use, because I don't blow dry - is how it's coming out enough, I'm not pulling into the blow dryer it comes out enough on its own, but and we'll get back to Fashion. You know we will. We will always get back to Fashion, but in the meantime, just to speak to my silver sisters out there, it's okay to be silver, it's wonderful to be silver, no matter how much or how little you have it's so freeing not to worry about groups, and - and Oh, I got ta color, my hair, I got ta, do this, you know shampoo, it condition it wear it. How you want to wear it? It is so freeing and when you get to be older, you don't want to be tied to that, and I know there are women who went to their grapes with that hair dye. They had to have that hair color and I think it is wonderful to be able to take that off my plate at 70.. I need to worry about hair color. I got enough word about her disappearing, so I can put a hat on or I can twist it up, and you know me because can't wear it like. I used to wear it but like what I always say, we work with what we got, ladies so enjoy the video and you'll see the end. Results and you'll see how much longer it is and you'll be able to see how much has been cut off. Maybe I'll come back and see if you can compare here, it is this. Is you know this is compared to what it was in that video? How long it was hello, hello. I know you're wondering what the heck is going on. I just wanted to share with you what it looks like when I wear my hair straight, how it all gets started. I watched it yesterday and just Twisted it and to make the edges lay down smooth. I always put a headband on, but you see I just got these twists in my head, so I will remove the headband I'm in the bathroom, with the mirror and just kind of share with you how I do it. It'S just twisted. Take it down and twist that one I go through and I just twist them, while, while it's wet twist it while it's wet put it down, you know my hair is not very thick, so I can work with that. A little bit. I thought I'd give you a little insight on Mrs Berry and I have a little bit of makeup on today and and I have that lip balm lip oil. I was telling you about that. I got that. I really like just like a color of my lips of that this one I mean it's really easy to do to just get it twisted. I I just figure. This is nothing anyone wants to know now. If I wanted to put a little little coconut oil I'll put a little coconut oil in just where it's support it, I get dry patches. I don't know. If you do, I get them at the nape of my neck. Sometimes - and sometimes I don't - let's see - let's put a little oil on my fingertips and where some of the parts are just a little bit because it'll get too oily. You know your hair, the sugar it'll get oily and then it won't have with it being thin. I need all I can get, but let me show you this. I could almost wear it like this, then I just take the pick and comb it out. It'S all this curls the trick is to get the ends to really get the ends up. Oh look here. I got one I did nine twist, it will tell you just go underneath it's a very light. Pull you want to do. Try and - and I got ta - do the top. It'S almost frightful look at that, but you can see there's just the uh on the ends. It'S still that red, but I wouldn't just wear it out like this because it wouldn't last you know as soon as some any kind of humidity it would go into a frizz frame, but I am going to show you how I straighten it now. I will put this is just a polisher, a glosser Polish I'll, put a little bit of that on not too much it kind of really helps. I get this through. Amazon helps with the frizz, it really does, but I am gon na put some heat to this stuff. You know the mind you. I would love to wear it just like this. I am going to use. Let me show you which product which uh Appliance I'm going to use it's the large I've shown you before when I got the oil on my hands, but it's the launch Lafitte hair brush straightener, and this is the black one. I have it in pink too, and I bought another one, because my hair gets it just sheds so and gets Tangled Up in the brush, but it is what is step one of getting this hair straight. This is how it looks, and this is how I put it up each time I put it right back in the packaging, I'm gon na. Take it out, I'm gon na put it back. I don't know I just like keeping my stuff nice in the Box because when I go to get it again, it's right there for me, but here's the brush still got some of my hair from last time in here and it has a plug and there's no Wait time for you know how it used to be. You put your curling iron on and you go and do something else and come back when you thought it was ready, but I just plug it up and it has temperature settings and I put it on it - can go 4 30. I think it can go even higher than that, but I think you know you've got a little flashing. I don't know if that shows on camera, and you just turn it on as soon as I turn it on. Okay, you hold it down and it's starting at 370.. I do not want 370., I want it at. I think I might want. I want at like 410, I'm gon na go to 4 30., because last time I did 410 it didn't quite at 4. 30 is pretty hot it'll go higher and my hair can take the heat pretty much, and I use this by launch. It'S called a heat shield, just a protectant. I have another one that I got from Amazon, but it's it's too oily. This is a little gummy. Sticky, but it makes them home. This is all I do. I I have clips and I have these cute little. Let me show you we're gon na rest. Up, I have these from launch. Launch makes a lot of practically practically priced instead of word. I want to say reasonably priced low products, and these are the clips they're pink. You know, but mostly I use the age old clips. We all know about from Sally's and Walgreens. What have you now? This is already hot, but we've got to get this hair where we can work with it right. So usually I just taken Park me outside with my fingers, so I can get the back from the top, and I just twist this out of my way twist that out like that. Like so like that, okay put that up there and I've got all of this down here, I'm going to put a little more sheen on this part to get it and now yeah it's hot. I can. I can smell the cause of my hair in there and then I just part this in the middle in the back that it's all combed out and then I twist this out of my way. It'S a process, it's a process, and I just want to show you how I do it clamp that up so now I've got this section to do and then I'm going to separate it. Of course we're going to start at the bottom right. Ladies start at the bottom, can you believe how much gray, how it's in here I can remember doing this video about a year ago or so, and it was still so much red on it. So much of the ground there - and I could do this, but I still want to make it a little smaller if it hurts real thick, the smaller the sections, the better my hair isn't real thick. So I don't have to do a real, real small sections, but okay, so here we go, here's the first one got it all calmed out. Let me shake this up and remove these paper towels and just you know you don't have to put a lot. You just want to protect the hair and it's damp it's gon na go on damp now. Are you ready for this? I love showing this okay and see it's got the smoke coming out because I've got some hairs called in there, but here we go. Ladies. Let'S do the first one if you hear a little Sizzle, that's because of the dampness, but look that's just one swipe. Look at that! Not that you're supposed to like go and go and go and do whatever happened on 4 30.. But it is like nephew of the African-American race. It is like an electric pressing comb and you know what I'm talking about when I say press and come. But Sarah - and I don't try to do too much here, because my hair is so thin that little bit of wave at the root helps to give me a little body. Let'S do another one. Let'S do another one, it's a little annoying to me having to spray each one, but it's also quite necessary if you don't want to ruin your hair, but to you all right here, it goes watch so here. This is because it's it's spray is in there and then I just grab the other, pull it through again and you can get, and it's pretty straight, get that look at that and it doesn't take long. I mean you can get it done. Let'S separate this like this, let me move this out the way, so you can see the difference. You'Ve got this and you've got this. Do another little section for you and it might take me because my hair is not thick 20 minutes to do my whole. Head 20 25 minutes at the most. If I'm not talking and carrying it on, I can get it done. I can feel it. I got some hair pulled there all right here, we go if it's Tangled you'll feel it, and if you want to do this, to pull the hair up, this way, wrap it and pull from the bottom and pull your hair out, pull that way, pull the hair Back so it's very hot now mind you, it is hot, then, if you want to touch up, you can go back in there. I mean if you've got a child's hair to do. I look at this and go. I wish this was around when I was a kid my mama, my mother had that pressing comb. You know what I'm talking about. Ladies with that rag wrapped around it coming off the fires, Sizzle you'd be like no. No, no! No don't do anymore. Don'T do any more okay, we're gon na do check this out, though I'm gon na do this one, and then I will do one more show. You sure you know what I'm doing make sure, but I mean this Levy brush. It'S not real expensive. Lunch always has some kind of special feel or sale going on now this one, I can feel a little pulling because I didn't comb it out as good, but I'm gon na not pull through the ends, but look at that legs look at that. You know and I go through it through and through, and that's what I do. I do this half now I'll do the other other half and I am going to finish this. Let you get up close to it. I'Ll show you up close, I'm going to finish the other part, I'm gon na finish the rest of my head and I'll come back and show you and show you how if I want to curl it or if I want to flat iron it I have lunch. Has a flat iron: they have this amazing curling tool if you want to make the beach curls so I'll, be right back I'll get this done. I don't want to sit here and put you through anything. I hate is watching a long long, video about a h. You know each step and I don't have to speed it up, I'll, stop and I'll store it for you, so be right back in a pair of seconds. Ladies, a few pair of seconds to finish the rest of my head, okay, bye, I am on the last section that I want to straighten. I wanted to show you I've gotten through all of that. How I do this last section right in the front here here and I still got crinkly right here - go into that it takes a little maneuvering, but I have done my whole head and I'll go back through like this, and it's almost like when you blow it Dry, you know how you do the blow dry and then you do the curls. I mean it doesn't get it like styling with this brush, but the brush is basically for straightening purposes. Let me run it back through, like that, and you know how thin my hair is. It'S just that noise, you hear is the record hitting the cabinet, but I always try to go back through. Take it over that way because inevitably you're going to miss something you know crinkles or whatever, but just to show you a little more that's why I want to get that part straight as I can, but it's a great tool and it's inexpensive. It'S easy to use, and now I have another tool I should have pulled it out for you of launch that I'm going to use I'll, get those for you and show them to you. But in the meantime I wanted you to see this we'll come right through that if you've got a curly head kit at home and you would like to wear her straight sometimes or just to help you manage it, you wouldn't have to come through to make it Phone straight, but you could make it manageable and - and I am so so overdue - for these ants to be cut, wow, she's, probably gon na, take off an inch and a half, I'm sure and I'm gon na go no, but I've waited too long. I should have gone. I can tell by the little pieces breaking maybe you know you can't quite get all of that red cut off, because I said that's still a bunch of red they're not getting that much cut off I've gotten attached to this little bit of her. So I'll be right back once I set up to show you how, if I'm gon na just flat iron it straight, and I may just do that, just where it's straight straight: do it flat iron straight, you know the ends are getting raggedy. I need to go. Get them trimmed to do it straight, but I may do it straight straight, we'll see I'll be right back in the meantime there it is I'll, be right back, okay, we're all done with that part. I'Ve sprayed some of this in there to kind of tame the frizz, and I'm going to show you. This is probably what I'm going to use. It'S called the Le Reve or larave straightener, and it's just like a flat iron, see that it's just like a flat iron. I hope you can see it. I can't see it, but it's it's pink of course. Oh there are times I use this. One called the airflow styler and it's it's like a curling iron, but it's flat and it has this air and it flows through it that you sear the air and when I want to make the beach curls. But I think I'm in the mood for just trying to see if I can do it just bone straight and I'm gon na show you this. Of course this is mine. I'Ve had over and over show you, I put it back in the Box just like that. It'S tricky sometimes trust and believe it is tricky sometimes so let me get taken out for you. It comes out like that. Okay, and I mean I managed to fold it back up each time and store it like that, because I'm just anal that way. I guess I want stuff stored a certain way and I keep this and I probably could just lay it in the Box without all of that, but I put it back just how I got it out, move it over here out of the way, but this is What it looks like and it's a great flat iron just you know, and you could probably make curls, but I like to do it just straight with this, so I am going to undo this and you see my head, it's uh if it was as thick as It used to be, we might be here for hours, even though I'd rather be complaining about that than than not. But this is it. I try to keep it cleaned off and to turn it on there's uh. You know, I always you know blind people can't see worth the crap. If that turns it on, and it's it's on 450 now I want to bring it down. No come on just a 4 30.. I do 4 30 and once you hit that 4 30., it sets and it's counting up and it'll, be ready two shakes of a rabbit's. You know what look at there. 189. 190. 200.. It'S it's! Really! It'S really counting it counting it down. To that. I think I need to 4 30.. Okay, that's what I want. I know how to use this. Okay, It's got ta heat up to 4 30.. While it's doing that, of course, I've got to do like I did before section It Off no just grab some again. Just do like this, like I did before you know it doesn't have to be precise or anything just sound like that, and then I just twisted twist this part to get it out of my way. You know out of the way I didn't do that very good, but so enough, just like that, like that and again I parted in the middle somewhat just kind of measure what feels like the middle, and this is where you can really finish getting it as straight As you want and again I separate this part kind of twist it secure it out of the way - and we begin I'll, take like this much like that. What'D we go through hi. Ladies and I really look at those hands, I really need to and that's what happens from wearing your hair. Curling too, you don't get to see all those ends all right. So let's say we got this. It doesn't even have to be this big of a section. Let'S thin it out, so let's see I have different texture hair down there, my hair, I'm down there underneath damn it doesn't sound so good. Underneath there, the hair is just a whole nother texture, it's it's uh, silkier less this and I've already got the heat stuff on it. So I don't add any more additional heat and this is on 4 30.. I got it on 4 30 and if I wanted it hot or I could have done 450. okay card and it's for this, okay just start here. Look at me. I missed a part. Can you kind of rub right there and just take it straight through and if I want to turn it just a little bit on the ends I'll do that, but it if you don't just want it, you know you want it to have a little bit of A bow but see that end is so much better than so much better than the end I had previously show you see the difference. Darker shinier, I mean just shinier and you can get up pretty close with this and just bring it down. I didn't do that. So well did I do that, so just take it through as many passes as you, you know they probably tell you to do one. I know the Dyson says once that Dyson thing had me going through so many times and it wait a time it was so heavy. Do a little more hair pour it off some more, but you can see the difference now and you can probably see all back there better than I I can't see back there, but you can see the difference now as far as uh how the hair looks. The texture and everything now I could do this in One Sweep it's a little much, but I do I'm going to do this. I want to get up as close as I can up there. It'S got a pretty broad. You know area to do. Take your time at the end, and I can feel this a little. You know I can go back up here and just do that. Sometimes I do that. It'S pretty pretty easy for at home. You know it just takes a little bit of patience. Okay, it takes a lot of patience. I could try this so normally. I really I would advise doing this in two parts because of the width of it, and I just twist this like this and I'm just talking - and I hope you can hear me - do it like that to get that out of the way come back. Take care of this slides, you know and just hold it pull it through. I come halfway through hold it pull it through perfect. So this part how you been. Ladies: okay, you've been taking care of your pretty. Sometimes it's all a matter of getting up cleaning up. Doing your hair, sometimes you just oh! If I just do my hair I'll feel better. I see this. I got all kind of lints foreign there you go. Half of that's done, I'm going to finish the rest of my head and I'll come back and show you, you know the end result of just flattering with the large products. Just simple easy, a little bit of practice and you can get it done too I'll. Be back with the final look of the flat iron, I guess yeah the flat iron bye, all right, I'm about to do the last section. As you can see, I have this really thin hair in the top last little section trying to get it as straight as I can, and not a big bang smoke there, and then I think I want to touch this up a little bit with this. You can get pretty close, but there you have it. Oh damn, let's see pull it through. I know I'm tired. I love all this hair, but at 70 years old these arms get tired for being up. They probably got tired at 30 and 40 years old, too and 50., but you know how that goes so. Do this and you can see how thin my hair is. That'S why I'm always pulling it back in a ponytail or up or something I wish. I could wear it really down if it was full in the top. This person wouldn't have any long, hair I'd have no back no size and just top, and I would be like really funky with it. But I wanted to share the lunch products with you and now I'll like let this rest and maybe wrap it tonight and uh. If I decide to wear some curls, just I'm going to turn it off right, quick, I could uh use the beach curl and the other one and make that. But for now it's down it's done and it was a day in the life of Deborah Berry. You know - and I hadn't done this in a while - I did it before maybe a year ago when the hair was still transitioning, which it's still transitioning, but I enjoyed spending a little time with you and showing you what I do, how I do and eventually I'll Get into more details on other things, but I enjoyed this time with you and you know get you some lunch products. It'S easy. I can't do all that they do have blow dryer brushes that are supposed to be amazing. I'M no expert at blow drying and it's so much pulling on the hair, I'm trying to keep what will stay in until it's ready to fall out and I don't want to help it come out, but in the meantime, keep it classic. Keep it simple. It'Ll, be pretty okay all right. Ladies quite a video right, it took some time, but I just wanted you to to see in that video how long it was and how it is. Now it's just it's easier. It'S still got some uh Brown in it, but it's all right, you know just and if you know of any great shampoos for making the hair silky and easier to flat iron. Hey drop me a a note Down Below in the comments any products or anything that can lady sideburns down something like that. I don't need anything about volume, because nothing gives a volume. You know this is the first day it'll get oily and be not as full, but that's what we you know we deal with that anyway, so I'm here, every Thursday. Ladies I'll see you next week in the meantime, what do we do here? We keep it classic. We keep it simple and we try our best to make even this, oh, so pretty and don't forget to like subscribe and share and I'll see you next week, bye

Lillie's Pad: Your hair is beautiful I love the Lange products I have the same ones and plus the the Le Volume that I blow dry with but you have me intrigued with that twist technique my friend who is younger tries to get me to start back coloring my hair but I have finally became happy with it with the gray in it she says she isn't ready to be gray and I wasn't either at her age tfs

D M: You have such lovely hair The natural strands of silver sparkle and highlight your overall beauty. I embraced my platinum/grey strands years ago (50) and haven't looked back. My hair is more delicate/dry than it once was but about the same length you have today. I found Shu Uemura in Yubi Blonde, Glow Revealing shampoo. Game changer! Moisturizing and brightening. A bit expensive but worth every penny. A little goes a long way Thank you for your video. Hope you are well and enjoy the hopefully cooler weather coming soon. Deb

kimmy1984: First off Mrs. Berry I had to stop the video to say you could NEVER EVER look dusty!!! Okay now back to me watching the video. Have a great weekend

Marlise Israel: Your hair will be back to that length soon...love the jumper you have on

Ava Lynne: My GORGEOUS friend! Love it!!

Moore Mellowed: Good morning, suggesting Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum for flat ironing a little goes a long way, and they also have a pomade, the clear one Thanks for sharing and love the slogan, it’s inspiring!

TIgre: I'm 2 and half yrs, no dye and am fully transitioned. But the 1/3 lower part is 50-50 salt and pepper. And the top 2/3 is 75% salt and 25% pepper. So even though I'm fully transitioned (no dye in my hair), it still looks like I'm not done. If I want to keep my length, it probably gonna take another 6-12 mos of growing and trimming. But it's so worth it, not to dye anymore.

Peggy DeKay: I love your hair natural too! Why not style it that way also? As a silver myself, it requires a certain mindset to embrace the gray. Thanks for the video.

Renee Hampton: You have some beautiful hair.

Tia's World Order: Great video and haircare tips!!!

TIgre: If you're interested there is a spray that you can spray on your scalp, to minimize the look of the bare spots. It's called GOOD LOOKING HAIR in Silver gray. I use it in my part and also, where I have a scalp scar. It says it's silver gray, but it's really like a medium charcoal gray, not silver at all. I try not to get it on my hair because it will darken my silver. It's pricey. But my can lasts 6 mos. Got it on Amazon.

Dana N: Oh, I remember the straighten’ comb!

Prohodaction: How are you?. Enjoyed-you created interesting edition-all the best, friend~

Catherine Hopkins Designs Life: Oh my gosh I need that Lange brush!!!! I hope it is not a million $$$
