Of Course, This Doesn'T Apply To Those With Medical Conditions #Blackhair #Naturalhair

Why we always got to bring up genetics when it comes to black hair? Like I really don't see, people saying this about Native American women white women Asian women, Hispanic women that have long hair. Also, when these women claim their hair is a certain length, people accept it without question: they don't try to zoom into the video talking about somebody's head positioning, isn't right, saying the whole Anatomy lesson they just believe it. It'S like. We want to find any excuse as to why we have short hair, but another black woman is able to grow long hair instead of just acknowledging. She just found what works for her and is consistent and you haven't gotten her yet, yes, genetics determines the type of hair that you have and how long it takes for you to grow it, but that doesn't stop you from growing to a certain length. It just shows you what type of routine you need to have to grow it to a certain Lane. Also, the next time you want to mention genetics, think about how that makes a little black girl feel about her hair.

Bee: Thank you!!!!! I have 4c that hangs close to my waist in its coily state. I can’t tell you how many times someone has said side ways things to me.

Star: Fr, In my old school, every time I wore my hair blown out I would be asked “is that your real hair”

Miss Kyra: To be honest, I believe the root is the obsession with long hair in the black community. I don't see women of other races measuring their hair with tape measures and rulers. Further, they don't really even use terms bra strap length, waist length, etc.

Kia Chaotic: This isn’t hair related but I notice the same thing when it comes to other stuff. For example If a black women wears blue or green eye contacts, shes trying to be white. If it’s an Asian woman (which is very common in Korea for them to wear contacts) no one says anything. A black women has a 22inch wig install and people question it because it’s long. A Spanish girl who has the same exact extensions doesn’t get questioned because people don’t put black women and long hair in the same sentence. The world thinks black women are the only ones out here with extensions and stuff. That narrative needs to stop. I’m in the army and there’s a regulation saying that only natural hair colors are allowed. A black girl dyed her hair ginger and she was told it wasn’t allowed because it wasn’t her natural hair color but a Spanish girl came to work with platinum blonde hair when she’s a natural brunette and no one said a thing. There’s a lot of ignorance in the world when it comes to black women. People just want to put us in a box that fits their standard of what a black women is suppose to look like or be and they stand by it without educating themselves.

ruby brown: I believe genetics do determine the potential length you can grow and how quickly but its not a black thing. Imo a lot of us never really learned how to take care of OUR hair. I feel like a lot of us learn how to manipulate it before we learn how to care for it and when our hair isnt growing, we accept it cause it lines up with the negative things we see/heat about black hair

C L: Most of the time it’s other blank women saying this about black women and that’s the real tea

Luneras Oscuros: I'm Hispanic and I keep my hair short and people call me Black because of it. So yeah there is a stigma against Afro-women. Although I do have African ancestry but the fact I'm only ever considered mixed race when I let my hair grow and Hispanic when it's super long is such a blatant racist mind stigmatization.

Zeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee: Same girl. I’ve been taking care of my hair religiously for a decade. 3/4’s of that decade were people telling me I was insane for my healthy hair practices. They spoke so bad on my hair. Now ten years later the health, lustre and length are on 10. And now the same people want to claim I’m not 100% black I must be mixed. Completely dismissing all those years I spent learning and loving my hair. They forgot. Well, I did a DNA test and shocker (sarcasm) I’m 99.9 black. Now I just show them my results and they go quiet. I can tell they are reflecting on themselves…

✺pollo✺: As a white girl looking from the outside in, i truly do feel for y'all. That's not fair to do to someone, like mind your own damn business. If a black girl/woman has long hair, does it matter if its real or not? No. Because it's not your business. Im so sorry you all have to get questioned about this.

Queen Che and the Boys!: Well said!!

E M: I think genetics definitely plays a roll in texture and how easy or difficult it can be to grow your hair, but that’s every ethnicity and race. And black/African American woman can definitely have long hair. Idk why people are surprised by that. I always had a little over shoulder length hair until I learned that relaxer is the devil and how to properly care for my hair. I stopped relaxing and had the big chop. I immediately started seeing a change. It took a couple years but my hair is now down to by butt. The texture and length has changed dramatically. My daughters hair is just like mine. It’s so sad that we ever thought relaxer was helping.

Beverly Robertson: In my opinion, i believe that all black women can grow their hair long and strong. All it takes is a routine, the right products that would work for that individual, and consistency. I remember watching black women in videos, who showed their before pictures. It's living proof that our hair can grow long. You don't have to be white to have long hair. My grandmother had hair down to her knees, and we're black, too. Anything is possible.

mzschocolatediva: You are so right. My hair grows pretty fast, and it gets long. I just cut it all the time cause I get tired of dealing with all the hair, and it's thin. But I have a routine I do when I want to grow it back, and it works for me. I just learned how to keep my hair thick and long and not just thin and long that's why I always cut it cause it was too thin but really long but I tried so many different products and now I have the right ones so I'm growing my hair back after cutting my dreads out. Now, it's thick, and I'm getting my dreads back.

chantrese Janae: You're so right ! It's like almost feeling like an experiment! It needs to stop that's how much healing needs to happen! Keep speaking your truth! Love it

Exquisite Radiance: While genetics plays a part, the overall internal & external care of your hair & body can override that. No you can't change the number of hair strands per square inch or the density of your hair. You can control how many strands you retain and expedite the growth process. SN: jumping on every trend you see an influencer do is extremely stressful and unhealthy for your hair‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️

Stephanie Edwards: Baby girl you said that it’s so true but again we’re always jealous of each other always trying to knock someone light bulb so we can shine

Twyneka Ponder: It’s ALWAYS your own kind that CONTINUOUSLY SETS US BACK HUNDREDS OF YEARS! We are suppose to lift each other up & support each other, still & yet WE continue to TEAR each other down! So sad & disheartening!!!

Annkdrama-queen: I love how you speak the truth…I’ve been through some sh!t with blk ppl, they’ll touch my hair to see if it’s real and that goes for men as well and accuses me of wearing weave…I’ve never in my life wear wigs or weave never had any reason to do that. It’s slavery mentality to the core and then we have hair haters.

Destiny Kayhee: True, but genetics do play a SIGNIFICANT part. Genetics isn’t just about hair but any health problem that causes hair loss, diseases, disorders etc. Some of the YouTubers hair grow naturally long with a minimum of a wash and hair grease etc. they don’t need all these supplements, regimens etc.

Makenna Bertino: I think you’re very sweet and I know you don’t mean any harm but sometimes in your videos you speak in a negative way and people might take that in all sorts of different directions. whether you care or not, it does matter. Maybe don’t talk about so much negativity in the world how people view you in a negative light or how you view other people in a negative way. Just keep things on you and your positivity and growth and helping other people stay positive and growing. Or dont completely your call

Mary Flanagan: Being born and being sickly all of my life, my hair was always in bad shape. Once, I got locs, of course it grew. Now, at 53, I have my favorite products, hot tools, vitamin D and protective styling and a good newfound beautician with a loving spirit to thank for my 3.5 years old TWA FINALLY starting to grow out. My silk presses and my looking like my daddy genes, make me look like James Brown during my awkward length, so, I started getting smaller, tighter curls.

Tweety Bird: I'd say that it also says how much energy you want to put in it. Without effort, my hair grows to my chin. I'm sure I could do more to get it to grow further. But honestly, I like sleep, and that extra energy is prime sleep time. But hey, if other people find the effort worthwhile, I won't knock it.

mbabazi ashlyn: but it is true. I had a friend who started growing hair two years after I had been growing mine. all she did was braid it all the time just like I always did but in a year her hair was twice as long as mine. it doesn't mean my hair doesn't grow just means some people have good hair genes better than others

Veronica Perrault: Straight up!!!!!!! I was BULLIED and harassed over things like this! Talk about it!

Sara Grant: I’m white but have a lot of Native American on both sides of my family. My mom and I both have long almost black hair. I’ve been told it’s not actually straight, to quite straightening it and that my hair would grow faster if I quit using heat to straighten it…sooo people are just rude lol ‍♀️ Also, I know it seems like most shampoos and such are for straight hair but trust me. Still use all the oils my sis with curly hair uses. Most of the time these girls complain that their hair doesn’t grow but it’s dried out and fried.

Gabriella ballor: Black women really have to endure so much. Dont let peoples clouds storm your shine, keep your chin held high my beautiful black sisters

Sady: Some people can’t grow their hair past a certain length due to their hair cycle. I had a friend who’s hair wouldn’t grow past her chest because that length is how long her hair could grow in the time of anagen and just wouldn’t past it

Marcella Parham: Preach it sis !!!!

noone: I never thought about it like that before. To me it is just a fact that genetics affects hair growth and retention, and it applies to every race. Never saw it as an insult, just a way to accept reality and adjust your routine to work for you. Even different groups of black peoples genetics differ. My ethnic group is Fulani and we grow long hair fast. But I guess the problem is it’s always brought up for black women immediately and in a defeatist way or something?

N'Dana Carter: We are exceptional and those who envy us look for reasons....Black woman love you don't listen to other people's self hate....Black Love

Rework'd: Period. The subconscious self hate and projection be exhaustingggg

Robby Joyce: THAT PART!! All I got to say is PERIOD!!!!!!! You are so right what about saying it about Native American women, white women, Asian women, Hispanic women…. Yes girl

ArayaDay: We all have a good grade of hair we just gotta know how to take care of it. I say this all the time. Anyone can have long hair PERIOD love ur videos

Mo Li: i am not saying you are wrong you are very right what you say but remember genetics do play part, i am giving myself as an example my grandma had longer hair but she shaved it all, my mom may her soul rest well, she had very longer hair, her hair reaches till to her butt no matter what she do her hair still grows longer and healthy which me and my young sister have like our mom, you can take of your hair to grow longer and Healthy but genetics play part on it too, whether you have longer hair through genetics or by taking care of it, it is still to be appreciative of it, which i am always grateful for it even when i take care of my beautiful black longer and Healthy hair

HelloSana: I gotta ask, does your industrial piercing get caught in your hair often? My hair is similar to your texture and I've been questioning getting one but don't want it getting caught in my hair lol.

Being Shatorriyaè: & She SAID WHAT SHE SAID !!! ♥️♥️♥️

miss0petersburg: Hubby lost his hair in his late 20s because of genetics(his dad). They do sweety, they sure do. My sister got her hair pulled all her life, because people wanted to see if she had a wig or her real hair(Jews got nappy hair also). My mom got bullied all her life. My hair isn’t as thick because my dad wasn’t a Jew and had fine hair so my hair is half and half but my sisters is more thicker. I used to hate my hair. Spent my entire childhood wishing and praying that I had slick long hair. Here I don’t even know what to do, non of the hair products in regular sections work on me but when I go to ethnic hair places, people look at me like I’m nuts. So I just cut most of my hair off last month. Just turned 40 this year and I’m about fed up with hair and all different products and just a headache, for me.

mizz ._.mayhem: People use genetics as an excuse for lots of things. Like just because someone's genetics are better than yours doesn't mean it's impossible for you to do anything, it'll just be harder for you but not impossible

Liseth Small: Well said. Everything you said...well said.

Ash Bash: I love to see women with beautiful hair black especially and agreed we shouldn’t be comparing I do not know how to take care of my hair and it’s depressing af but I don’t make people others with long hair or no spots feel a type of way about it because i don’t know what they’ve done to get there

Nessa Julian: A slightly different perspective; I'm African in Africa and certain tribes are known for different types of hair growth because duh People from my tribe are hairy all over and I personally have always had thick hair even when it was short Hair care YouTubers from my country are usually from my tribe and not because we have any special hair care secrets to share, I do tell friends to keep this in mind then I see them comparing themselves to others on the internet

Erica Peterson: So beautiful!! Your hair looks amazing! :)

NMRN: Sometimes people comment on hair texture because they are of a different race and genuinely want to learn about different cultures or different ways of doing things.

Anya: But seriously this is so true even tho I’m not an African I see what y’all really go through with the hate for ur real hair and girl u are so freakin pretty what’s ur secret

Lovie Jefferson: Amen! Say it again!

Andrea Saxton: I’m still trying to figure out what works for my hair.

rashad mcdonald: ❤ your hair is very beautiful and long!!! I want my hair to get as long as yours!

Tiffany Lawson: Actually the real reason ppl don't know that black women can grow their hair long is for decades we fried dyed and laid our hair to the side trying to get it to look more socially acceptable. I'm in my 40's and if you came to school with an afro or nappy edges when I was young you were looked down upon and made fun of. We damaged our hair greatly by relaxing and pressing every curl out of it. So lots of us couldn't grow hair past a certain length. Once we came to terms with our natural hair state and realized our own hair is beautiful, we then had to learn how to take care of it. Imagine having to learn how to take care of the hair that grows naturally out of your scalp at 32 (when I transitioned)But once we do it grows just like everyone else's....

GoodTree GoodFruit Art Co: SAY THAT!! Some are just haters and that’s just what it is!

Heather Elliott: Preach, baby girl!

gensai93: We just need to stop being obsessed with length, it's not healthy.

Beautee Organics: well said!

Alessia M. Davis: Preach it !

LaQuanda Johnson: Amen Queen sad part is. That it's usually our own people with the b.s.

ms.branch: Amen.✊

Zena Phillips Jensen: Because it does have something with genetic!!! My siblings and I are Mixed race! We all have different types of hair!! It is fricking genetics!! You are a business owner, you should know this!!

khawaja Azan: Is noone gonna talk about how shes wearing a smart watch while showering?

Toniaalwaysnforever: It’s is so funny how you check people in a nice way girl I be laughing

ReB: Yes, it easily could keep the body from growing pass a certain length, common fucking sense.

Areanah_J: They will do anything to hate on black women bc there obsessed with us it’s honestly funny that now there paying for features that we were being made fun such as lips skin tone and hair

Blake: Not saying this to bring down black women or say that they can't have ling hair. Black women can definitely have long hair, but genetics determine the length. Just like height and everything else about our bodies, DNA codes for mins and maxes. That's why someone can grow their hair for 12 years and have waist length hair or grow it out for the same amount and have butt length. Women's genetics aren't the issue, but that doesn't mean your genetics have no effect on hair length.

Ava Wright: I went natural because hairdresser started over processing getting my bush texture back

Amanda Hines: Exactly ❤

Sheril Wray: It can be both genetic and how you take care of your hair, and is from medical reasons and more!!!

sweet nonh: i live in middle eastern country while im from sudan i get mixed up to be arab just cause my hair like okay damn africans can have beautiful long hair too :/

Aisha Prater: Notice how women with beautiful healthy hair also have beautiful hands and nails

besx 908 goddess88: Straight facts!!!!!

QueenBee: Genetics is a major factor.

Tynisha Battle: Say it 1 more time For the people in the back I’m not sure they heard you I found my routine for my hair and I am 38 years old I have not had a relaxer in my hair in 20 years✊✌

The Real Sabrinamichele1: Just like when someone says we can’t grow long hair as if every black person has short. It’s stupid self hate that needs to be stopped.

Delisha Harris: Facts and it be our own black sisters like ugh.

E K: Thank you

Pretiprincess: Ty I been fighting since I was yung I’m NOT BLACK I LOST JOBS ETC ITS REDICULOUS THEY TOUCH MY HAIR MY HAIR IS WAIST LENGTH IM OVAAA IT

Miss Kim: Hi. What conditioner do you use?

SiArra Williams: Lol well genetics can affect your hair texture and hair strength. That’s a question my father and his siblings could not avoid. “What are you mixed with?” Their hair, skin, and features are not just African decent ❤

irene stanciel: so true. I fell you sis

Terry-Ann Carter-Grant: Where can I order your products

PSRose: Well said.

This Is A Journey: This is very true. I’m African (Angolan) and my hair has grown to bra strep length. For the Past four years I’ve been consistent with deep conditioning and moisturizing but because my hair is long now people discard the effort I put to caring for my hair and say it’s genetics. The worst part is that when I say it’s my treatments they think I’m just trying to seem humble

Jess A: I’m Irish and unless I trim trim trim the hair doesn’t grow past a certain point. I heard it’s all about the trimming. Your hair is gorgeous. My daughter can’t believe some of the hairstyles in her school. She will approach and explain that her head is super sensitive and she has no idea how these young girls sit for these intricate hairstyles and routines. It’s such an example of good self care to take care of each strand this way. My daughter will not sit for the routine bc all she had to do was brush so she didn’t lesrn❤

Mulhat Ahmed: how long did it take u to grow that much hair...?

FamousLeo🦁: Preach!

O O: It is genetics though . Same for every race

Denise Wallstreet: where can I purchase your hair care products

Jay Bee: Genetics play a role in all of our traits regardless of what race you are. Some peoples hair just grows with little to no effort. I am black with a splash of Japanese and my hair grows fast and gets pretty long if I let it. I don’t have a special hair care routine.

haVoc Witta Attitude🙄: This is what I want to know: why every one of your videos are negative or have a negative tone? Why are you giving all of these haters a light to shine?? One video you really trying to prove that you have long hair... Like if YOU know the length of your hair then why would it matter... And then someone said you tilted your head and you made ANOTHER video to prove the same thing.... You are wasting your time and focusing on stuff that doesn't really matter. Find your peace ✌️

MerittsNaiveté: I think the conclusion i came to with mixed vs fully black is the way we grew up. I had a perm, my hair wasn’t as appreciated and turned to straightening. Mixed girls grew up to learn to love their hair so the care for it was different and stayed consistent. They never had a relaxer or perm. Some of them hardly had natural hair hurdles so their hair just continued growing while fully black women had constant stunts in their growth and was never taught to embrace their natural hair, love it. You can see the differ, and care for it. notice the difference between the little black girls that are growing up now compared to us. They are now being taught to appreciate their hair and grow it long. It think it was all due to how we were raised and different environments.

Mellonese Nash: Please teach me how to grows my hair, thankyou!!!!

valerie hoyos: Facts lil girls loose self esteem with that genetic talk

SAE: So true-but you have your HATERs and Congratulators. Keep shining …because-WHY NOT!

Aja Blue: I agree

jon ettienne: I disagree with a few things genetics play a huge role in hair for any culture but if u genetically have hair that is lower porosity it can take more wear and tear than someone who has the opposite kind of hair so mating length is easier because it takes little to no work and the more curls your hair has is the harder it is to be coated in seabum and things like that that's why compaired to other cultures our hair is usually always shorter cuz we have koils and our hair has more variety where as other cultures are usually the same standard hair type

DivaTech185: Amen sis. Amen. We are so flipping picked apart in this society it is crazy.

Melynda Smith: Love you girl support u from South America

bisoleil: This video is kinda weird. Why can't we just accept our hair as is regardless whether it's short and long.

ChampagneKryssy: Girl, its givin Kyla Pratt! The voice too. Lol.

Kimberly Watts: Genetics are like DNA. Don't blame ppl on DNA it's not blk or

M J: Facts!

Carmen Crespo: What are you using on your hair

ThatBoyThatsAlwaysSleep: Ngl I would think a straight long haired person has long hair because i can already see it but if it was a 4c long haired person I would have to see some proof because they have shrinkage so i wouldn’t be able to know if it was short or long.
