In this video I partnered with Henna Sooq to show you how to DIY Dye Your Hair Black with Henna & Indigo. I'm using a two part system starting with Henna then following up with Indigo on my Natural Hair. This two step process can be used on all hair types.

THE 2 STEP HENNA + INDIGO PROCESS:

For my thick nearly waist length hair - I start by mixing two 100 gram packs of Henna Sooq Red Raj Henna & 1/2 of one pack of 100 gram pack Henna Sooq Cassia Powder. Then I boil 4 personal sized green tea bags in three cups of water. Once it's boiling and tea is done seeping, I gradually mix it into my Henna + Cassia Powder mixture. Continue to add gradually stirring until it's a pudding like consistency. Cover with plastic wrap and let sit overnight at least 6 hours or overnight for dye release. **Note: If your hair is thinner or shorter you may want to start with using only one pack of henna and only 3 tea bags in 2 cups of water. However, you are able to freeze any leftover henna mix.

Next day I thoroughly rinse my hair clean but not shampoo. I then wrap my hair in a microfiber towel or t-shirt and let it soak up the water for 45 minutes - 1 hour until my hair is damp. Once it's damp, I part my hair into 4 sections and apply henna first at the root then in small sections and go back and apply to the full length of my hair in small sections to assure that I got all of it covered.

Once all of the henna is applied I then wrap it in Saran Wrap and leave it on 4-6 hours or overnight. Once the processing time in my hair is done, I thoroughly rinse my hair with water until all of the henna is out of my hair. I follow the same method of plopping my hair in a microfiber towel or t-shirt until damp, usually about 45 minutes - 1 hour.

Step 2: Here's where the black comes in using Indigo. **Note - in order for the Indigo to work you must do the Henna process first to prep the hair to receive the rich black dye. This is a great natural way to cover grays or just get that rich blue black hair color. While my hair is in the towel I Mix 3 cups of boiling water gradually into two 100 gram packs of Henna Sooq Indigo Powder. Let it sit for 15-45 minutes and apply to damp hair. Again, I always like to apply to the roots first then to then down the length of my hair. Wrap again in saran wrap & leave on for 4 - 6 hours then rinse out thoroughly with only water. Once my hair is rinsed thoroughly, I wash with a cowash or gentle cleanser and then deep condition. Then style as normal!

It's the perfect natural way to dye your hair and you reap so many amazing benefits from the process. Henna is known to be a great protein treatment, great for adding shine, defining your curls, conditioning your hair, filling in the gaps within your hair strands making them thicker and stronger, and it helps with length retention. On top of the rich permanent color affects without causing damage to your hair with chemicals.

What'S up, everyone is to see if every welcome back to my youtube channel and I'm finally, back with another hair video, I am dying my hair with henna. It has been a long time since I've done so, and I wanted to do an updated version of my old old super old video. Where shows you how to do a henna loss treatment, but this time I'm actually doing a straight up in the treatment and then also doubling it up by dyeing my hair black using indigo. Now, if you have been following my channel, then you know that I used to use henna all the time and I decided to just you know: take the shortcuts and use box dyes, but I'm using the demi-permanent. Still, I feel like took a total of my hair. So I want to try I'm going back to Hannah and I'm using henna by henna soup, and I will put all of their information there below I partnered with henna soup, to show you how to set by step dye your hair, and especially, if you want to Dye, your hair black henna has so many, and so so many benefits and, of course, I'll tell you all of that as we're going through the video anyway. I hope that you will enjoy the video. Please leave any comment below in the comment section and I will definitely be here to answer them. I do not have any grades as of yet that I'm covering I just like to have my hair, like that rich dark, deep black color. You want to see my original natural hair color, then, of course, I'll keep linking and then I'll include the link below. So you can go back and see my henna glass treatment, where I only use henna and did not go in and follow it up with indigo to dye it black. So that is pretty much it I'm gon na. Let you guys get to the voiceover and all that, so you can see step by step. If you have not already, please make sure that you subscribe to my youtube channel and just click that red subscribe button and then also make sure you check out the tune in on Fridays to check out my new talk-show heart of the matter which, and has it Not so new anymore, I think I have about 10 or 11 episodes up so check it out. It'S super dope and, of course, I'll keep coming back, giving you hair and beauty content. It'S been a minute since I've been on here doing any hair or beauty content, and I know I know I know I promise I'm coming back every time. I say that something happens, but I promise I'm making a comeback. Let'S get to the video jumping right in I'll, be using hitter six red rosh henna mixed with cassia powder and processing it with green tea supplies needed for green tea bags, plastic, wrap, tennis, looks indigo a measuring cup, an old plastic bowl and, of course, a plastic Spoon to stir it all up, I am using it two packs of the red ROG, henesys, henna and half a pack of the cassia powder. Of course, red ROG henna from the souk is a hundred percent organic henna powder and the same along with the cassia powder. If you have lighter hair, flip may be blonde, cassia will give it a more golden color. The henna will give it a red color. If you have dark hair like me, then you may get a red tint from the henna, but the cassia powder will not affect your hair. Now, I'm point pouring in gradually to mix it into the powder. My green tea. I did boil four bags of green tea in three cups of water, just so that you are aware - and I did end up using all of the green tea to mix it in you would use less if you have less hair than me or shorter hair than Me on my hair, I consider to be - I guess, medium density thick and it's nearly waist length. So if your hair is longer or thicker than you probably want to use the same amount or a little bit more and of course, if your hair, shorter and thinner it's useless now, I'm using Vaseline to prepare my forehead, my skin and everything for the henna application. So this is my hair. What I did was just rinse it thoroughly clean and rapid and pop it in a microfiber towel. Now you can see when I've used box ties before I used a permanent dye and it lifted the root of my hair, because it was on for too long was that too much hair, and also I have new growth in so my natural hair is coming through. This is the henna the next day after sitting overnight and, as you can see, it has turned color and is now ready to process on my hair parting, my hair into four sections, just so that I can prep my hair and apply it now. The difference with this application - I am applying it with my fingers just because it's easier, you can use a color application brush, as I just showed you, but I just find it much easier just to get in there with my fingers and apply it now. The difference between this application and my original henna video is, I did a henna gloss, which means I added oils and everything. But this time I'm going for a straight up color. I always prefer to apply the henna to the roots of my hair first and then I'll go back through and apply it to the length of my hair. Anna has so so many benefits such as giving your hair a great lightweight protein treatment. It adds great definition to your curl, so if you are lacking different curl definition, it's great for giving you profanation, it adds shine. It enriches the color of your hair, it conditions your hair thoroughly and it's a very natural way to dye your hair as you'll, see in part two of this process. I'M gon na be adding indigo, so I have applied the henna to not only the roots of my hair, but also down the length of my hair and now I'm wrapping it in saran wrap. I highly recommend doing this when you are waiting to allow the unit to process just to help keep the henna from rubbing off on anything, and it just helps it to kind of incubate and process on your hair, henna, normally processes within four to six hours. But for the best colour payoff, I usually leave mine on overnight. So, as you can see, I've thoroughly wrapped my hair with saran wrap and now I'm just adding an extra layer of protection using a plastic cap and then I'll tie all that down with a satin scarf and then tie it up once more just to keep it From running all over my hair, this is a brave bonnet that you can get from the beauty supply store, and I wanted to show you this is how much Hannah had the head left over. So you see, I used a lot of henna. If you do have any left over, you can freeze it now we're getting ready to process the Indigo. I started off using this small butter bowl. As you can see, we, my family, loves butter, but I decided, since I had so much Hannah and I didn't learn so much Indigo powder. I did not want it to spill over, so I just transferred it into the old bowl. Of course, cleaning all of the leftover Hannah out first, this indigo powder process is super easy and super quick. All you need is hot water, so I boiled three cups of hot water and am using two 100 gram. Packs of the Hennis look indigo powder and, as you can see, I'm doing the same thing pouring in the water, the hot water gradually, so that I can mix it in very thoroughly. You want to mix it to a paste-like consistency, but if you are using a deep dish bowl like me, you want to be careful because, as you can see at the bottom, that henna may not be mixed. Well, so you want to keep adding water and making sure that it's mixed well to a paste consistency, not any looser than that. This is what it looks like after I'm done. Mixing I'm going to do the same thing by wrapping it with saran, wrap and letting it sit, and now I am going to rinse all of my henna out of my hair. So, as you can see, it looks basically like a clay mask. I wanted to show you kind of up close and personal what it looks like after it's said overnight and now it's time to go rinse. If you want to see how it rinses out of my hair, I will link the video down below and, of course up here, you can click on it to see step-by-step, how it rinses out now here is after rinsing the henna out, and you can see the New growth and, of course, the over-processed parts of my hair, where the henna really took because my hair was lightened. So if you have lighter color than I do, then you will see more of the red in your hair, and this is what the Indigo looks like. After processing, probably for about 45 minutes and now I'm doing the same procedure by applying the Vaseline, so you can see as I mix the Indigo around it comes out a little bit green under surface. But it's still gon na give me that beautiful blue-black color. I'M now doing the same exact process, applying it first to the roots, then I'm gon na go in with small sections, apply it to the roots of the small sections and then down the length of my hair. I don't have any Gray's in her hair and have not gotten any as of yet, but if you do have Gray's, then using the Indigo will be a wonderful way for you to naturally cover your Gray's and give you that deep black color you may have to Process the Indigo twice so you'll see later in the footage. I did still have a little bit of the red showing in my reach, but not much not enough for me to care that. I need to go back and really reprocess it as of yet. But if you really want to do so, you can reapply it as you can see here, I'm applying it to my brows. Just so I can deepen my brows and make sure that they match more closer closely to the color of my hair and I'm making sure that I take a damp towel to clean up around the areas of my brows and make sure that it's only on the Hair portions of my hair, I'm leaving the Indigo on for four to six hours, and this is the final result after rinsing it thoroughly and co washing my hair very lightly. I did deep condition my hair, and this is the final result. Alright, I hope you all enjoyed and super-dee-duper love this video, and I hope that you found it helpful if you're interested in henna and found all the benefits that I listed check out. Henna sook down below and you can use my code to get 20 % off of your order, so definitely check her out. Make sure these show some love and then also order and don't forget to use my code. But let me give you one more look at my hair and final results. So, as you can see the black really took to my hair, I do have a couple of spots with the red again, if you that bugs you, then you can definitely go back and reapply the Indigo so that it will take a little deeper. But for me I'm loving it. I love you all thanks so much for watching, and I will see you in the next video

Nsiande Kweka: A good tip learned from Indian friend , add little salt in indigo to bring out the of color: indigo, water, salt then let it sit for 15-20 minutes & apply.

Ashly J: The founder of Henna Sooq has made a lot of teaching videos on how to mix and make henna. She said you must use warm DISTILLED to hot (but not boiling) water to mix any of the powders she sells since boiling water kills the effectiveness (or maximum effect) of the powders. Do use their aloe vera powder because it guarantees soft hair. Henna can be drying and the only way to be sure it doesn't dry out your hair is that aloe. She also said all the hennas need to sit (after mixing) for 3-4 hours EXCEPT for Moroccan henna which needs to sit for only 1-2 hours. Then, when putting the henna on your head, it must stay on your head for 3-4 hours. Non-coloring treatments sit on your head for 1-2 hours. Anything more than 3-4 hours on your head can be really drying to the hair and is unnecessary. The only things that don't negatively affect the indigo is warm distilled water and aloe powder. I wouldn't risk using anything else since indigo is very picky. Please don't use coconut milk in henna coloring treatments or conditioners or honey. They ruin the effectiveness of the dye by diluting it and drawing out the dye. Keep it simple, warm distilled water is the best, warm green tea works too (made with distilled water since it's the cleanest). Clarify and wash hair before applying of course. Use cowash afterwards and let the henna settle for 2-3 days before deep conditioning. If you want to add moisture right after cowashing, use a leave in or oil with no honey since it can strip/pull away the color. A lot of deep conditioners use honey so watch out for that. If you're trying henna, go to hennasooq.com and subscribe to their youtube channel so you don't waste money by doing it improperly. (Also plastic bowls are okay but they're porous and can stain, glass/ceramic is the best in my opinion). Tia's hair color is beautiful though, love the richly black result

Lisa F: I LOVE Henna Sooq! i use the 2 step process like you did in your video. For me, it is very effective with covering pesky grays!

DeLinda Williams: I love henna, and I use the gloss once per month and I use just a little of the indigo mixed in to brighten my hair color. My hair is dark brown near black and when it needs washing,it looks dusty brown and the brown is more obvious. My children and grandchildren have the same issue, some have darker brown than mine, near brunette. Using the henna gloss helps keep my hair manageable. The first time I used the henna gloss,I forgot I saw you wrap your head with plastic wrap for overnight and I didn't put any indigo in it so my hair was dripping oil(I wrapped the plastic caps with an old towel),and my hair turned a light red. The next day I did the indigo to restore my color and shine. Thanks Tia,your old video helped a lot! Thanks for sharing.

Christal Williams: Few things to note. Henna’s (for hair) dye release does not need 12 hours to process; only body art quality needs that amount of time. Jamila, Red Raj etc all can be processed in 3-4 hours so it’s possible to do this all in one day..I’m actually doing the two step process right now.

Sherri Bryant: Hi Tia I’ve just discovered your channel and really happy. I’ve used hennah but never heard of indigo until now. I have low porosity hair and usually just use a double bagged with plastic cap for a few hours and it turns my hair gray hair orange. Do you think I can get away without leaving it in overnight before I use the indigo. I’m asking for myself and husband who has very short hair as he won’t leave anything in very long.

April Around Town: I just started using box color this year. I'm natural for 7 years so the strong chemical smell really concerned me because I'm clumsy. I succeeded though. However if the henna does not have that smell I definitely up to trying it. Thanks for sharing! ... April E. IG: applemacg

Jen: I love how it came out, I have henna in my hair right now, I think I will leave the indigo on as long as possible because I have greys throughout the middle of my hair, the rust of my hair is a dusty brown, I love when I see ladies with jet black hair, it looks so healthy and fuller, I hope mine comes out well because I have been thinking about it for three years!

Dahlicia Holmes: THANK YOU SOOOOOO VERY VERY MUCH! THIS IS SO HELPFUL!

Taycurls14-Shanta C: Love how it turned out I need to try this

Sophia H.: How long after doing the treatment can you oil your hair? I've heard that using it right after can cause the indigo to bleed.

Meki M: Thank you very much for this video. I will definitely be trying this out.

PreciselyAvri: Hello how often can we do a henna treatment on our natural hair? Like for the both the color and the health benefit? Like once a month or twice a month?

Olivia Brown: Gorgeous hair! I would love to see you do a review of Straight Silk Spray by JuniorLabs. It gets my hair soft and silky ❤️❤️

Toya J: Love the results!

Wandakatt Mckinney: Thanks for the info, I did your henna gloss treatment so Iwill definitely try this indigo one , so I can achieve a nice black color

Fayketta Martin: Hello I was wondering, could you use the Indigo alone without a henna treatment? Or will it only work after the henna treatment or gloss. Thanks in advance

eveningbreeze: I only leave henna on for an hour and indigo for an hour and I get jet black hair. Also I put my indigo on immediately after mixing it.

debra gainey: PLEASE TRY VITAMIN E CAPSULE OIL FOR YOUR UNDER EYE DARK CIRCLE. ALSO PUT A WHITE POTATO IN THE FREEZER FOR 30 MINUTES. TAKE OUT CUT IN THICK WHEELS APY TO UNDER EYE DARK CIRCLES. THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS ON HENNA AND INDIGO TO GET HAIR.BLACK. THIS WAS VERY HELPFUL.

Gabriela Perez-Balcanu: Thank you! This is the only video I totally understood well hahaha

MaKy M.D.: my grey grew so fast , is that safe to diy henna every month?

: I just saw this channel I loved it Thanks!

Deborah Adams-Forbes: Thanks for the video!!

Latoya BB: Looks good!

Tracy D: Why did you add the cassia being you don’t really need it for color. Does it have any other added benefits? I just ordered the red raj and indigo from Hennasooq. I just received a package of katam from overseas. It’s supposed to give black violet tones as opposed to the blue with a tad of green from indigo. I’m excited to try it. I too fell in love with Hennasooq.

dadaday98: Did you wash you hair prior to applying the henna?

Jazmine: Oh my if u let the indigo sit like she did it will act as a semi permanent hair dye which means it will wash out eventually to make it permanent so it doesn’t wash out only mix enough that u can apply in 15 minutes or less or it will be semi permanent not permanent also salt I would do about a tablespoon per 100 grams or 1/2 cup this method I’m giving is really good to cover greys or might I say white hairs

Irene Pan: If your hair is "medium density", I guess I can say that I am bold, lol

YaGirl Lena: I don't want to dye my hair using henna I only want to use henna for hair growth. Is that possible?

Margaret Dunn: your face look better there . The makeup is to ghost like on your beautiful face. The color can out very good. Great job

Gina Jones Channel: I put my leftover henna on my husband's beard lol

Danielle Simpson: Do I have to use henna to achieve jet black if my hair is already jet black? Can I just use indigo? I have stubborn gray hair and I don’t want to use box color on my natural hair anymore. Thanks

Steffany K: i heard its better to just use lemon with some water.

MovinMountains ASAP: awesome awesome

j cardosa: thumbnail she’s a whole nother person wth lol is it the lightening? that’s crazy

King Davis: I love that's its natural BUT this crap turned my beard purple and i can't get it out!!!! Someone help!!!!

SeawallBreeze: Hi sir, where do you buy henna ?

N Air: I have check nowhere I can find in Eu , Belgium Holland , peaty

Ngum Ngafor: Do you shampoo wash hair first before applying the henna? Thanks.
