Hi everyone and welcome to the first episode of gray herring tattoos. My name is lani and i'm going to be your host as we explore um we're going to explore some pretty interesting subjects. We are going to explore fashion, we are, and it's going to be fashion at any age. I am a very firm believer that, just because you are of a certain age, you have to dress a certain way. I don't believe in that and we're going to explore that and i'm going to show you examples of finding your own style and being comfortable with yourself. We are going to talk about age in general. I i'm not going to just talk about age over 50, but i'm going to talk about age at any age. 20. You know in your teens 20s. 30S. 40S. 50S. It doesn't matter. We put all these um these expectations on ourselves and we put limits on ourselves. Just because we're of a certain age - and so i'm going to be discussing that and basically showing you that at any age, you can do anything. You want to do we're going to be talking about tattoos and we're going to be talking about tattoos again on both um ends of that form of that spectrum of age. We'Re going to discuss tattoos when you're you're in your 18 19 20s into the 30s. 40S. 50S again, tattoos shouldn't have an age limit. If you are in your 50s and you've always wanted a tattoo, don't think that your time limit has expired, you there is no. There is no time limit on finding your own self-expression um we're going to talk about hair color, we're going to talk about self-expression in itself. We'Re going to you know, there's so many different ways that you can express yourself. It doesn't have to be something bold like a tattoo. It can be hair color, it can be fashion, it can be makeup. It can just there's so many different ways that you can look within yourself and find um an outlet for your self-expression. So we're going to explore all of these subjects plus more it's really going to depend on you know, what's going on in the world what's going on in my life, what i think is relevant what you think is relevant and we're going to be having um a Little bit more in-depth conversation on these subjects. So for any of you who don't follow me on any other social media platform, i am on instagram and tick tock. I have. I actually started my whole social media platform on instagram at the end of 2019, and i started that with the sole purpose of just basically showing women um over 50 that we still can be vibrant. We can still be relevant. We still have a lot to give to this world because i felt that the older i was getting the more oppressed i was being of my individuality and then what i found is that that feeling is universal, regardless of your age, your sex, your you know it That is just an overall feeling that a lot of people have, even though i thought it was more of an over 50 thing. It actually affects the younger generation. Also so from my instagram account, it has kind of evolved into you know the melting of both um, the older generation and the younger generation um. I have been able to reach out to the tattooed community a little bit more because i'm actually trying to show them that when you're in your 20s - and you make that decision of getting your first tattoo, it's not you're not going to think poorly of it. When you're older on in life, because you're basically going to be the same person, you're just going to have maybe gray hair and a couple of wrinkles but you're fundamentally going to be that same person when you're older than when you are today. So i started off with instagram and then i moved over um, probably in november of 2020, over to tick tock now tick tock has been amazing and i have um a great following on tick. Tock um. I did two second two 15. Second, videos and one of them went viral overnight and that really has launched my platform of gray, hair and tattoos into a new medium that i've always wanted. But it's definitely given me the boost to do that, and i am so thankful for that because it's given me the boost to now start my my youtube channel and again this youtube channel is going to just be a little bit more in-depth of everything that we're Discussing on the other two forms, i mean instagram and tick. Tock both have a very limited amount of time. For me to be able to express, you know, maybe what i'm wearing or the outfit i picked out or the tattoo design that i'm getting or my motivation behind getting another tattoo or just my general desire to reach out to society and just be like again you're. Never too old you're, never too young you're, just never you're, never you're! It'S never too late to start living your own life um, and so i can go on all day long and i could just keep on driving this home, but i'm pretty sure you get the general idea of where this channel is going to be going. So i am very excited that we have started this journey together. I would love it if you would leave comments, suggestions for future um episodes. I i take these suggestions to heart because it's not so much just what i want to tell you, but it's more about what you want to hear. Also so, please feel free to leave suggestions comments. I will be looking at them and i will be addressing those in future comments. Um again, please check me out on instagram at gray, hair and tattoos on tik, tok, gray, herring tattoos um, i have a spotify, i have a pinterest. I have a blog. Basically, all my social media is gray, hair and tattoos, and i look forward to our journey together. It'S gon na be amazing. Kitty Pinkstars: Hey Lonni! I am so glad I found you on til tok.. as a woman of 46 who dresses as a rainbow with bright pink hair. I truly believe age is a silly number thing and I’m more about colour and fun and being authentic to myself.. you rock!

Claire New: I'm so happy to see you've started the YouTube channel. Looking forward to watching you and the positive messages you share regarding age, tattoos ect xx

Julie Maybourne: Hey, so glad to see you on YouTube. I’m 52 and started my tattoo obsession a couple of years ago and planning to get loads more. Would love you to do a video showing all of your tattoos and what you’re planning on getting next. I’m in the UK and studios are closed at the moment, can’t wait for my artist to be able to reopen. Looking forward to your next video

Yeah it's Laura: We follow each other on IG. My husband tells me sometimes that I dress too young and it drives me crazy. Just because I’m in my 40’s doesn’t mean that I can’t wear cute glitter blinged out sneakers. As I commented on one of your IG posts- there is no dressing young or old. There’s just being stylish or being frumpy. We don’t have to dress frumpy just because we’re a certain age. I’m hanging onto my style as long as I want to.

Jude Kirsch: Yea! At 51 I’m feeling better than ever! Women need to support one another and live the way we want. I’ve come to realize how important it is to stay present. And what people may think of me is none of my business. Lol!

Isabel Martins: Hello, I love everything you represent. You are the voice of what I think and feel. Keep up with the good vibes.

Sara Eclipse: I got my 1st tattoo when I was 20 and it was like opening a bag of potato chips! Can't have just 1, I have many now! I'm 41 and my first grandson was born last month. Granny with tattoos - nothing wrong with that! I've loved you on Tiktok, I'm excited for your YouTube channel!

Bobbi Bemke: Looking forward to this! I’m in my early 40’s and have had tattoos all my adult life. My biggest fear of growing old....is conforming to the middle age/old age norm. ❤️

Keeyna McCall: You're awesome!! I'm not quite in my 50's (I will be in May of 2022), but I definitely feel the changes, and I oftentimes question myself! I'll have conversations with myself like "You're a grown up now, you should be wearing make-up and looking like an adult!! or, "Girl, you know you shouldn't be wearing that blue jean mini skirt and those cowboy boots"! But I also have the same conversation with myself saying "Screw that, you look cute, put it on!!" I think this is an amazing thing you're doing, Lonni, by addressing and breaking down the barriers that say people are supposed to be one thing! We're not! I'm excited to be able to tune in to your show!

Amelie Mews: *I love your style!*

Debbie Devenny: I'm so glad you started a You Tube channel. I got my first tattoo at the age of 40. I'm months away from being 60. I don't have nearly as many as you. I manage my sons Tattoo shop. We have more and more people getting first tattoo at age40, 50 and 60. Good Luck!

JoannChavisXO: Video Suggestion: things I wish I knew in my 20's, 30's, etc <3 So excited!

_coco_: Looking forward to this youtube channel, I love your instagram. I recently took the plunge and got my first tattoo at 30 ,last year and I'm so glad I finally took the plunge and got what I really wanted in life. Thank ypu so much!

Walentyna Liébert: I love your style and your personality ! Thanks for all motivation and all the good vibes ❤️

heidixalana10th: So excited for this!! You are AMAZING!!

Jadyn Gelmich: I would absolutely love if you could collab with some different people to provide different perspectives/ideas on fashion. The two I would be most interested in would be a non-binary/genderfluid person, and a plus size person. Bonus points if these happen to be the same person

Tina Frost: I am so excited you did this. I love you. I find you so amazing and inspirational.

Hannah Clara: So excited to see you here Lonni! Can't wait for more videos :)

A Casian: Thank you for making ur Utube channel. I turn 40 in 3 months and sometimes I feel ppl think I shouldn’t dress with my dr martens boots or my nikes or a type of style because they see my salt and pepper hair . I still want my tattoo and I’m glad I’ve waited because now at my age I feel I can make the right choice for what I want tattooed ... I think about what I wanted in my 20s and I’m glad I didn’t get it then lol. Thanks so much for being u and keeping us feeling young

Veggie Bowls: Thank goodness finally someone who gets getting older is freedom and makes her own rules. Yay, like and subscribe

Alexandria Whitty: I’m so glad you going to share with us, can you show your closet and how you chose what to wear thanks! You are amazing you inspire me to look my best for myself!

Jessica Wells: You gave me a preview of what I'm going to look like when I'm 50 which is beautiful I'm 38 come March got my first tattoo at 25 and I have added four to my collection in the last 3 years and I am not done yet I love ink. I have a stained glass window and I am allowed to decorate it any way I want
