I just discovered something new. I have been working in the film tv fashion and hair industry for 15 years 15 years. I'Ve been doing this and i literally just discovered something new because of you guys who would have thought last week. I did a video about purple. Shampoo that you guys seem to really really love, and what this video was all about was the theory behind why purple shampoo works. I talked about underlying pigments. I talked about how we correct underlying pigments. I talked about how purple shampoo is actually an at-home toner, and i showed you guys results on a human hair mannequin head, so that you could see exactly what the hair looked like before being toned with purple shampoo and after being toned with purple shampoo. This is all fine and great, but you guys were left with quite a few questions. What'S going on guys, my name is gaby and i am your hairdresser bestie. I made you a promise when i started this channel to answer as many comments and questions as i possibly could, and i do that week in and week out. If you want to join our family, then hit that subscribe button below ding the bell notification button and come learn how to get the hair of your dreams right from your very own home. Back to the questions. A lot of the questions that i got on that video was about brunette hair. Can purple shampoo be used on brunette hair, will purple shampoo tone, brunette hair and could purple shampoo do any damage to brunette hair? Let'S answer those questions right now. Purple shampoo will do absolutely nothing to brown hair nada, nothing, zip, nothing! It'S not gon na do a damn thing to brown hair. Why? Because the way that we tone here is by using the opposite color on the color wheel, blonde hair has yellow in it. You can clearly and distinctively see, yellow and brassy blonde hair. However brown hair doesn't have yellow in it. You cannot see the yellow and brown hair, so when you put purple on brown because there's no yellow there's nothing for it to neutralize it's just gon na. Do absolutely nothing and i'm going to prove it to you by taking this extension in a brown color and i'm going to slather it in purple shampoo and i'm going to leave it for 20 minutes so that you can see the before and after results of what Happens when you use purple shampoo on brown hair now what tones do we see in brown hair that we feel the need to tone out? As you can see, my hair is a mid brown color and when we find ourselves in the brown family, the pigment that we see is red. How do we correct for red? We use its opposite color on the color wheel, which is green at the same time that i was thinking about this logic. I posted my purple shampoo video on a hairdressing group that i belong to on facebook, and i got one of the comments from the stylist they're asking me to try matrix dark envy, so i've never heard of matrix dark envy before so. The first thing that i did is i typed it in google did a little research and brilliant matrix dark envy is green, which makes perfect sense. So i went to the store right away. I bought matrix dark envy for us to try together today. Here'S another weft of hair from the exact same extension set that i used to tone with purple. We are going to use matrix, dark envy, we're going to tone with green so that we can see the difference between what happens when you tone brown hair with green shampoo and what happens when you tone hair with purple shampoo. I'M also going to tone my hair, because i want you guys to see what it actually looks like when you tone brown hair on skin tone, so what changes in the hair and how it affects the clients or your own skin tone. Okay, now i'm gon na leave this on my hair for 20 minutes, so that we can see what happened. My hands are like stained green like i can see green all in my nails, so i i think it's pretty powerful and we're also waiting for our extensions. The purple shampoo one and the green shampoo one to finish processing at 20 minutes. While i clean up my inventory and i'll check back with you in a little bit, so i'm back and that went differently than what i expected. I actually expected it to be a lot different. So here are the two extensions side by side. This one is toned with the purple shampoo, and this one is toned with the green shampoo, it's very similar. I i really expected the green shampoo to have a huge impact and when i see them side by side, i can't really tell the difference that much. Let'S move over to natural light to see if we can see more of a difference there right now, i'm using a ring light, so maybe that's just blasting it too much so over by the window. You can tell that the one closest to the window is the one that's toned with the purple shampoo, which i predicted would do nothing and it did do nothing, and the one closest to me is the one that's been toned with the green shampoo. So in natural light i can see - and i think especially because i have a trained eye - i can see that the one closest to me doesn't have a red-ish tinge not as much as the one closest to the window, but it is a very subtle difference. A difference that maybe, if you don't even have a trained eye, you wouldn't necessarily pick up and see. Now i have a few theories as to why this could be. I think perhaps this is a shampoo that's intended for dark brown hair. This is more of a mid-tone brown. Once we get into the lighter browns, we start to see a lot of orange and the the agent that cancels orange is blue, not green. So i think, maybe if we went into like a darker brown situation, you'd be canceling out the colors more than if you are in a lighter brown situation, which case you'd want to use something with a blue pigment, not a green pigment. And this is what my hair looks like after having the shampoo on for about 20 minutes, so it says actually on the bottle. When my shampoo was processing, i read the back of the bottle and it said to not use this on highlighted hair. So that's an oopsie on my end. It'S actually intended for solid brown, hair highlighted hair. You start getting lighter, which basically means you start getting brassy and into the orange tones again kind of like the extensions i tried, you should be using something that's more blue based. However, i do still feel like a lot of the red's been cut in my hair. I'M gon na have to review this footage after close up to see if i can see it, but on a first impression when i was blow drying my hair, i did feel like my hair, looked quite a bit ashier and i had a lot less warmth, especially Since the solid parts of my hair are very dark brown, which is what this shampoo is intended to work for so overall, am i mind blown by this product? Does this product change the game, i'm not mind blown by it, i'm not as impressed with it. As i am with a purple shampoo and what it does to blonde hair, but i would still recommend it to clients that want some at-home touch-ups in between salon visits. I think that if you have brown hair - and it is solid, what it's going to do is prevent your color from fading really quickly and getting into those red tones really quickly. I really do think it's going to keep your hair more of like a rich, neutral brown over time, even though you may not see as dramatic of results as you would see, with the purple shampoo on blonde hair. Thank you guys for watching. If you want to watch my purple shampoo video, then head on over there, next i'll see you in a few days bye.

Align Creative Minds: 15 years!!! My go-to make-up artist ✨ This is super helpful for my brown hair ‍♀️

channel free: You should try the mask that comes along with the dark envy line. It has blue-green pigments instead of the shampoo which only has green-yellow pigment.

Dean Kirkham: I’m naturally red headed about level 6 now naturally. When I was younger it was like a level 9kg. Anyway I bleach my hair and use the green shampoo and it’s perfect for creating a deep ash blond look rather than a light blonde ashy look. Sometimes when I used to use purple shampoo I felt like only parts would tone and other parts would still be warm. But this stuff is brilliant I keep on my hair for about 3-4 minutes rinse it off and I’m a level 8 ash blonde again. Not a level 10 ash with a slight gold hue. But it really does depend on the preference of blonde you like

ameera: My hair dresser recommended this because my hair started turning brassy and I’ve been using it once a week for about 3 weeks now. I haven’t seen a difference. She told me to leave in the conditioner and not the shampoo, is that correct?

Carlie R: Great video! Do you suggest keeping the shampoo in for 20 minutes or 3-5 minutes like suggested on the bottle? Thank you!

Aimee M.: so glad I found your video! I almost purchased this until you mentioned not to use it for highlighted hair

Gloria M.: Hi, I've got medium brown hair, I use a 6 to color my hair but brassy/reddish always come out, even if it's an ashy tone. I tried to use no orange shampoo by fenola, but nothing appended. May I have to try this? Thank you ❤️

Minerva Anette Cruz Acuña: Hi! I have natural black hair, would it help my hair to avoid red tones?

Ελένη Βισαξή: I use brown die in my hair no 4.01 and i use blue sampoo and blue conditioner for the brasines it works for me very well i can say.

Darlene Hernandez: Have u tried the green shampoo on color dyed red hair? I'm curious to see the results

CheerLovatic102: How long does this last in the hair?

preethi moorthy: My hair dresser bleached my hair before shade 3 brown. I have a naturally black hair and I want my highlights be darker so the look is subtle. Will green shampoo do it? How long should I wait?

valeri ramirez: I recently got my highlights in my hair but my hair dresser messed up and made it too light. I toned it and it came out okay but it’s not what I want. If I were to use a blue shampoo would I get my dark hair back ?

Cydné: I’m looking to get rid of red coloured hair. My hair is naturally dark brown but I’ve dyed it red. Should I use green shampoo then dye it back to brown or use colour remover then dye it brown?

sharosentkisses: Hey Gabi ... I need help . Is there anywhere i can send you pictures to get recommendations? On what to do to get the color im looking for?

EnlightenedMcgaw: I go back and forth from blonde to brown more than I care to admit. I always use purple shampoo. You said it’ll do nothing. This isn’t accurate. Try uniq blond shampoo. You’ll be mind blown!

Kelly K: L’anza makes a debrassing shampoo that’s kinda turquoise. Works really well.

Martin Metodiev: Hello there! I saw the Sweet Chamomile shampoo& conditioner by Milkshake in your background and I wanted to ask what are your thoughts on it?

Arly Sanchez: I’ve made my hair black for years and as of recent I’ve gotten a balayage. My hair could not lift so now I have to work with it.. my hair is both red and orange and suggestions?.. also matrix from what I’ve heard at the salon I work at and from my experience.. matrix toning shampoos don’t always have the best results. Honestly suggest talking to your stylist if they can professionally tone it. Cause I can’t always see the back of my head lol

adalynn williams: okay so i've got like strawberry blonde-ish hair and i want the red/orangey undertones GONE. i want more blonde coming through, so which do i use green, blue, or purple shampoo??

almondmilkjpg: do you think i could use this with my keratin nano bonds already in?:) they are so gold..

Sarah Al Khafaji: Im im a bit of a dilemma and need help! Just died my hair a nice medium brown but it turned greenish red! (My hair was burgendy with bleach underneath amd along side the burgendy it had some purple strips.) Now after the brown, the red hair turned orangy red with brown and the purple strips turned greenish. What the hell do i do??? Blue or purple or green shampoo?? What do i use to tone it without bleaching again pleaaase help.

blurgh: I am in a bind. if I use green shampoo on my red dyed hair, will it remove it? thank you in advance!

Emilija: I used matrix envy mask for my dyed brown hair which has redish orangy undertone. It worked but after few washes i can see green undertone.. what did went wrong?..

L99: Plz try the blue one! Also which is more powerful the shampoo or the mask?

Mitzi Monsevais: Hi there .. i ve dye my hair black all my life with box dye from whole foods .. ive stopped 6 months ago but now i have a black reddish hair at sunlight .. i hate it .. and im getting married in 2 months.. but i dont want to dye my hair again .. never again .. my natural hair is dark brown to light brown.. just tryina fix the red undertones ..do you think green toner or green shampoo will help me ..

Charlotte: I like the envy conditioner but the results done last long. The shampoo is really drying on my hair
