DISCLAIMER: This video was not sponsored.

No one really tells you this, but there are things you need to know before you go to the salon. What'S good everybody, it's your friendly internet, curly, hair stylist and your main girl mel here with another video to talk about how to go into your salon. Appointment such as what to ask for, when you're booking your appointment, especially while you're trying to book some of the current hottest trends that are on trend for especially curly hair, and i'm also going to share how to have some realistic expectations while going into the salon. So you don't leave disappointed or traumatized, because we've all been there, especially if you have curly hair. This is why my passions include helping you figure out your hair one day at a time, or rather one week at a time, new videos every week on texture, tuesday. Here on this channel, maybe you should subscribe to me anyways without further ado, let's get into it hold on. Yes, i'd like to book an appointment, okay, so the first place to start is to look for your inspiration. Photos take a look at some of mine. These all reflect a lot of the trends going on right now, right now, everyone is looking for really lived in color. This means low maintenance, and this benefits, really everybody low maintenance, colors have a way softer grow out. Take me, for example, this look is very rudy, but it is still very very trendy because there is a transition. There is a soft blend and you can see this trend all throughout fashion. It'S very modern right now, even though a lot of our current hair trends are influenced and inspired by decades. Prior, for example, 90s looks are very in they all have a modern twist. So right now, it's lived-in looks for both your color as well as your haircuts. Long flowy layers that give a lot of movements and framing around the face, but that also have a lot of fullness and not too much layering throughout, is something that we are seeing a lot of, and although a lot of these looks are very natural, you can Always make them super fun with a pop of color and different types of tones. Even me alone, i'm rocking some little rose gold hints in my hair, but you can take that above and beyond, by putting full on pink in your hair or even going copper. Reds are very, very trendy. They look good on a lot of people more than you think, and they can give so much life and warmth to hair that may be washed out looking. I myself am super inspired by these warm tones. I would color my hair auburn right now if i had time, but i don't so stop judging my hair right now, it's fine for now. This is about you. So first things first make sure you find those inspiration photos that you're looking for, but let's set realistic expectations right now, because the photos you look at should resemble what your hair naturally looks like i'll. Give you a few examples. If i'm looking for a haircut and a hair, color inspiration photo, i want to find hair. That looks like a simmer curl pattern to me, maybe even a similar density and i'm also looking at the root color, i'm looking at how light that hair is compared to how dark my hair is. When i compare the photo to my hair, it's gon na. Allow me to understand the level of change that my hair has to go through in order to get that look, especially when it comes to color. As for cuts, there's one thing we can't change and that is our natural hair texture without extreme color processes. So you can relax and soften the curl to make it tighter. You'D have to get a perm and to be straight up. There'S not perms that look like this, and so i want my inspiration pics to look like me. That'S the first thing: where can you find these honestly head to pinterest pinterest is incredible. I feel like even over the last little bit the last year. They have really stepped up their game and i need to step up my game and post more on pinterest, hey i'll, put my pinterest link below. If you follow me, it will inspire me to post on there but go on there and look up what your hair type is and you'll be able to find lots of inspiration photos for you to go off of that's the first place to start, and it's a Great way to prevent disappointment, you have to know what your hair is capable of now, just one more thing that is super important when looking at these inspiration photos is determining what you love most about this look, because sometimes what we love most has nothing to do With the haircut, sometimes it's just how it's styled prime example right here. This look looks like this because of its styling. Another way for me to explain this to you is just by emphasizing how different curly hair looks from curly to straight and so again finding photos of hair that looks like yours and hair. That is styled how you are going to style it. Most of the time is going to give you a more accurate representation of how the hair is going to look one more quick example of this. You can see how, in straight hair versus curly or curled, hair color takes on a whole new light. Literally, if you have highlights in your hair, they may appear much lighter in hair. That has been straightened out or blown out, as opposed to when the hair is curled and curly, which gives the hair more depth creates more shadowing, and it can make the hair look a little bit darker in certain lightings. I also want you to look very closely at these types of highlights. The types of highlights are also going to make a big difference. I always say baby lights, those really fine little micro highlights they are not meant for curly hair because they are just going to disappear. I'Ve had this done before. I was very disappointed because, well, my hair didn't look blonde after getting so many highlights put in, because my curls just completely absorbed them. So, just as a quick rule of thumb in curly, hair chunky is better and also keeping dimension and depth and keeping some dark throughout to make those lighter bits. Pop is really going to give your highlights this kind of look. This look versus a more solid overall. Look that maybe has a sheen to it, but not pops of color, nothing wrong with that. If you want that, then you're gon na want fine baby lights, but if you want dimension, you're gon na want good old chunky highlights, and you know who does those best. Besides, hopefully, a curl specialist, an experienced stylist that lived through the 90s, they are not afraid they know what they're doing so now, let's talk about how to book your appointment on the phone with the salon. First, take a look at what your inspiration photos are and based on the type of look you want, whether that is bold, lived in bright fashion, colors or anything in between you want to make sure you're going to a professional that is comfortable doing these services. You want to find someone that specializes in this work and has the work to prove it always look for portfolios and that's what instagram is for and possibly pinterest, but finding a stylist flipping through their instagram is a great way to determine if you're going to be A good fit for them, because, if they're doing hair like yours, they're going to know how to do hair, that is yours. So, let's recap: we found our inspiration photo now. We have found our professional that specializes and can give us the look that we want that. We can achieve based on the realistic expectations that we are having it's a growing thing to do. It'S a growth. Sometimes it's hard to step back and be like damn it. I want that, but i can't have that. Sometimes it's got ta be like that. We are ready to book the appointment with that stylist. So i don't know if this is gon na be a very straightforward answer, but you should definitely check out the stylist websites or their services list and see how they like to book their services. Many services in salon are booked a la carte, which means you get the color done. That'S at its own charge, you get the cut done, which is usually with the style style. You get your roots done, that's covering up. You know a root touch up like grays. That'S going to be very different from getting a root touch up like these. Please, which is highlights, is that confusing? Let me show you a couple pictures to show you what i mean for something like this. To achieve this look. I know that i need to get highlights but notice how it has that really lived in rooted effect in order to get this type of look where the highlights are high up to the root, but they have this shadow. You need to get a root shadow. A root shadow is applying a color or toner that is closer to your natural color, just that through to soften the blend of highlights. It gives you that really soft lived-in look super on trend and not always included with your highlights appointment. That'S something to be aware of. If you are showing your stylus these types of photos, you might hear them mention that they're going to do a root, shadow or a root melt, there's honestly a million types of different names, but it all does the same thing and it isn't added on service. So, building up uh the price expectations. If i, if i me wanted to get this look, i know i would have to look for a full head of highlights. I expect to get a shadow root done with that as well, which would include the rest of the gloss, a full toner, so i can get that type of shade of blonde, and then i cut in style doing all of that. I expect to spend several hours in the salon. In fact, if i'm in and out within two i'm i'm leaving a bad review because for curly hair to go that blonde, i definitely want to go low and slow, but hey that's a different story. For another day. Every stylist has their own techniques and that's why you should definitely check out what their service list looks like and try to get that consultation beforehand. Let'S move on to another look, that's super super trendy to just give you guys a good idea of how to book. For these things and what to expect when you're going to the salon, this is a gorgeous look. That is super on trend, and i want to use the reverse example for this one, where, instead of going from dark to light hair, you're going from light hair to dark hair to achieve a color as dark as this so drastic from what i already look like. You want to book in for a color correction that might sound a little extreme. I know what you're thinking just slap the color on and you should be good right, you're going darker, no bleach needed, but listen, although you're not removing any color. You do need to add a lot of color and there are steps to going darker like that, so that you don't shock the hair and so that the color is as vibrant and long-lasting as you want it to be. Achieving this is a two-step color process, especially if you're going more than three levels darker than what your hair already is, and by booking for a color correction. It'S going to give your stylus the right amount of time to first fill in the color that is needed and then apply on your final desired color to achieve exactly what you're looking for without any brushing again, it's going to take a little bit of time. It'S not just one color application, it could be two, it could even be three and something like this is much more complicated than it might seem, which is why again find your trusted professional? That has a lot of experience in doing work like this. So you know what to expect when you're leaving the salon. Now, i'm truly gon na speak from the stylist perspective. If you are leaving the salon with a such a drastic change, you've, either gone lighter or you've gone darker. You can expect your stylist to offer you other services on top of just the main color and cut that you are doing other add-on services, such as treatments like doing olaplex, especially if you're going lighter. You might be offered something called k18, which is a whole different thing we have not talked about yet they might offer you a deep conditioning treatment. They will also recommend you products to use at home after your hair, color appointment, and i would take what they offer. You very seriously, especially since they have the most experience in the color line they have used and the products that they are retailing to you. They know how these products work together and they're going to give you the longest lasting color for best looking results. Now it's totally up to you! If you choose not to do these things, but back to those realistic expectations, it's going to be harder for you to maintain that professional look at home. If you don't follow the proper post, color care maintenance. I'Ve made a whole video about how to care for your hair color and maintain your hair color. After doing your hair color last year, i'll put that video here for you to check it out. It'S very helpful because, again that at home maintenance, even after you leave the salon, is super important in order to keep up those expectations, because if not, you can expect your look to fade faster, maybe not be as vibrant, maybe not have the same amount of shine And just you know that insulin look and feel that we sometimes feel like. We can never get again, listen. You can, and you should ask them what they recommend in terms of your maintenance for the hairstyle, that you got. Every different type of hair, color and haircut is going to require different types of maintenance for our example. Our hair should definitely be trimmed or dusted. Every six to eight weeks, but honestly for that you can do it at home. I created a whole video, however, for the big jobs, the real maintaining of your shape or and your color. You want to keep in mind how often you should come back in in order to keep your look fresh and if you loved how your hair looked, you should definitely book in advance, while you're there say hey, let's book the next one. Now that way, you're sure you can get in especially before you have a special function. Wedding season is back baby, the holidays are around the corner and it's time to make this hair warmer. I feel i'm ready to do my hair. Are you? Do you feel like this video helped, prepare you and set your expectations now we know how to find our realistic inspiration photos, especially based off of the current trends. We know how to find our stylist how to book with the stylist - and i mean book all of the services and the time needed. Remember that consulting is going to be key. Every stylist does things a little bit differently. I can't give you direct, quotes and answers in today's video, because you're going to have to talk to your stylist and don't be shy to shop around and get your hair done with someone who makes you feel super comfortable and you know, has the confidence to give You, the hair that you want, and hopefully you won't have to book for any therapy by the time you're done, keep them on speed dial just in case, but i rest my case. Did you find this video helpful? Will you now give it a thumbs up and subscribe, so you can see more videos like this and so much more on the channel each and every texture, tuesday. I hope you do, and so i thank you for watching. I'M means by mel your main girl, mel, you're, virtual internet curly, hair stylist and i'm out peace. I feel like you are my child and i am your girl mom and we are nourishing your hair one week at a time. What'S yours is mine? Okay, make sure you, whatever clippings, put them in a little ziploc and send them to my p.o box. Don'T worry what for it's fine, i'm totally kidding totally kidding you're silly sd card. Full i've got ta drink tea like that tea break, it's cool just enough um! Today'S tea of the day is not sponsored by godiva. Yet again, this is my favorite tea mug, it's so massive um and i'm drinking the aveda tea. It'S just my favorite. If you're going to aveda salon to get your hair done, you better ask for the aveda tea. Just don't have too many cups because you will be running to the washroom, but it is just so good where what? Where were we? Where were we anyways? That'S where we were past thinking,

Sycamore Valley: Mell I would love your tips for people who live in more rural areas - what to look for if you have to drive to another city for a cut, or what to ask if your only option is one or two small shops in your hometown - how to 'scope out' a good curly hair stylist if there are no "trained" curly hair stylists in your area. If it's a good idea to drive to a see a curly stylist - and not have availability to get trims, etc - or better to work with someone local and get trims more regularly.

Michelle Haftar: The last person who cut my hair back in 2019 was YOU!! I've been following your methods to trim my own hair (because 2020 and the joys that came with it ). I don't think I'll ever find someone who can cut my hair as awesome as you did

Maria Knopp: When I walk into a salon and I ask ask who can cut curly hair and they tell me everyone that is a sure sign for me to run as fast as I can! I'm sure this video made hairdressers happy everywhere. This gives me a little bit more insight On the stylus thinking process when pricing. You guys are the best.

Taylor Foster: Wish there were more knowledgeable curly stylists like you

Jazmine PC: Literally binged your videos all day yesterday. I’m 27 and have never done research on my curls and Im super disappointed in myself for not doing so and not having been taught growing up as my mom was not color liked me and have 0 curls. I appreciate all of your information and knowledge and cannot wait to start my hair journey. I have found after all these a curl specialist to help with my curl cut so I can start fresh!!

Gill Edwards: Found your channel earlier this year and loved it. Had so many plans for my long curly hair. I had my ‘lockdown hair’ cut in July my stylist of 5yrs took a razor to my curls to ‘thin them out’ . I ended up with a curly mullet . Almost 6 inches of length gone and lots of holes, so traumatised!! Found a new salon and finally get my first proper curly cut in 2 weeks, can’t wait - Curly stylists are few and far between in the UK!!! Your channel is inspirational and despite the bad cut, I get so many comments on the condition of my curls thanks to your advice

Sabrina Tossing: This couldn’t have been created at a more perfect time for me… I have my first curly haircut appointment at the end of the month

Polly's Shore: I went back & forth on what I was going to have done to my hair for awhile. I was thinking about going strawberry blonde or read again, but really wanted balayage so I went for it. It had been 3 years since I’d had highlights done. I also decided to get strawberry blonde gloss put on my hair. My hair naturally has a strawberry tint in the sun, highlights help blend my grays and grow out should go smoothly. I plan on getting a new gloss done here & there.

arkang2: I love this video (along with the others you've posted on hairstyles/face shapes). I have two big issues when looking at "inspiration" online/in portfolios.. 1) many of the "waves/curls" are created by curling irons and 2) all the photos are of hair that is high density (not like mine). It is hard to find natural 3a curls in inspo photos, and even harder to find curly hair that is low density. I've had stylists tell me that my hair would be "too thin" if I styled it based on my inspo photo, or it won't lay the same because the curls are tighter (or looser) than my own. Do you have any suggestions for us low-density curlies?

N C: Did my first hair color this year. I loved it so much that I did my friends’ hairs. I watched a lot of videos especially Mel’s hair coloring vids and prepared myself as best as I can of course. Now, my hair has grown about 4 inches and I’m looking to add highlights next. I’m so excited, ❤❤❤❤

L Bloodkith: If money wasn't tight right now, I'd gladly get my usual red orange color again! I would even drive the almost 2 hours to my fave stylist who is a curly/coily, is reasonably priced, always makes my hair look amazing & is an absolute sweetheart. But until I have the spare funding, I trim my own & let my hair be it's natural color (outside of the leftover grown out ends) for a while. I don't mind my natural brunette, but I do definitely love the orangey reds the most on me.

Larissa Johnson: “I want that but I can’t have that” me looking at Mell’s curl pattern

Emily: If we’re mailing internationally, how do we write “hair clippings” when declaring what it is without sounding like we should be investigated? You really made me appreciate my stylist even more. Your inspiration pics & how to choose the right ones really help. I LOVE reds. I’ve done every shade from really dark auburn to my current orange red. I need the warmth. I wanted fo experiment with some rose gold next week at my appointment. I found some pics with a very close match of my current shade as the base & rose gold hilites. I know I won’t know for sure until I get there, but it looks like a good chance we can do this. Last time my curl shock later almost a month. No more drastic cuts. So true on the stylists who’ve lived through the 90’s. They’ve seen things you can’t unsee, like the spiral perms & the “Rachel” cut. Mine is not a curly specialist, but she’s good. Everyone is still trying to figure out how I went from straight hair as a kid to naturally curly hair starting in my late 20s, and especially the last few years it’s getting tighter. Docs said it’s not hormonal. She’s learning with me, but always has the color on point. I’m her curliest client. She’s worked hard on the skill & has the art of it down too. We tried the baby lights once just to experiment. Nope. When new stylists are there, they literally walk around me like some kind of force field & they’ll damage my curls by getting too close. It’s a good chance to learn though & she’ll use me to teach. Thanks Mell & Amanda!

Yoshi: omg! this video came out at the perfect time! I have my appointment on the 31st which I've been waiting for since July! that's how booked up this stylist is! and after my last horrible experience I truly can't wait! I'm dying for a new look!

Sophia Aloeristok: I always feel confident after watching your videos, thanks for these tips!! ❤️

SJEN Music: So helpful! Not even looking to get my hair done but I'm here for it anyway! Always learn something new here ❤❤❤

daftoptimist: Back when I did have color, I finally went with my stylist’s recommended product line, and the color held up REALLY well. Is your stylist upselling? Yes, BUT IT’S FOR A REASON. If you can possibly afford to go with their recommendations, you should.

B Lewis: A deeper review of current curly hair trends beyond colour, would be beneficial for many who don't colour their hair. I found this video very focused on colouring, while I was looking for trendy shapes, bangs etc.

Josie G.: Thank you so much! You inspired me to get my hair colored in warm tones for the fall season. I am a 43 year old stay at home mom/wife. I am looking for ways to feel better and look better your video blessed me

Ruth Kuder: I am too old to be your child but I still want you to be my "Curl Mom!" Love your videos Mel.

Ally: Great video as always Mell! I’d love to hear your thoughts on K18 for curly, coloured hair. I’m currently using it for the first 6 consecutive washes as they recommend but finding the no conditioner rule challenging, as well as applying to towel dried hair (not sure if I’ll dilute it/lose benefits if I rewet my hair?). I only wash my hair once a week so this phase is taking forever! Would love your thoughts

Christina: Yay! I look forward to every Texture Tuesday! You are THE best, Mell! This was so helpful.

Deanna: Happy Texture Tuesday!! My favorite day!! So excited to watch!! Much love and happiness!! Xoxo

Courtney Boulds: Just the video that I needed! I’m sooo wanting a shag but I was told that my hair was too curly. Thanks Mell!

Francesca Rosado: I’m getting my hair cut tomorrow and it was nice to hear I followed most of your steps before watching, loved the few perceptions I learned from you that I didn’t even think about before too.

Rachel Fishbein: Perfect timing! I got a haircut on Friday. Happy Texture Tuesday! Any chance we can get a video on styling permed hair? I don't perm my hair, but I have friends who do.

Tina Hepworth: So helpful Mel , i have blond highlights, and never know quite what to say when I call my stylist. Now I do. Thank you so much. ❤️

Jesus Loves YOU: Great info as always! Mel, ( curl mom!) can you do a video for post covid hair loss? Perhaps how to nourish and disguise the massive thinning? It's a common problem now Thank you luv!

GabbyFormando: Literally was thinking of what to do for my next cut and how to explain. You never disappoint Mell! ❤️

MaryAnn: I found my recent style and color on pinterest. It's similar to Mel's. I love it! Add few more layers so the top isn't so flat at my resent up keep. Only issue I struggle with is frizz specially on my part sections. Loved this video, so much to know and I wish I knew this years ago. What a journey! Lol I sported the bozo the clown look for a bit.

Kianna Hearns: Mell, I have also been bleaching my hair to a similar tone as you. You were actually one of my hair inspos since we have similar curls! My hair stylist can color curly hair for days, but when it comes to styling... bit different. But do you have any tips that help maintain the lighter tones rather than turning brass?? A week ago i had ashy-ish blonde hair and now it's similar to your color (love yours, but i like the ash .)

Katherine Tejada: I really loved this video! It’s hard to find curly haired girls with low density hair for inspiration on Pinterest though. You’ve inspired me to get my hair colored, but I’m going to wait on that until I get out of the navy

Julia: GREAT ADVICE FOR LIVING from Curl Mom Mell: “Dammit! I want that but I can’t have that! Sometimes, it’s, it’s got to be like that.”

Julia Mancini: Hi Mell! Your timing is perfect, I have an appointment scheduled for next week! What is the different between highlights with a root melt and a balayage?

Krista K: I need to get my haircut soon, so this is perfect timing! Happy texture Tuesday!

Mireya Perez: Thank you!! This was so helpful I would like to do a color balayage without bleach for my birthday in November, could you possibly shine some light on this and if it's damaging to curls? I have grown out the highlights I had years ago and now I have my natural color

Bee Contrera: some of hairstyles I have meet, try to destroy my curls each time I try to make an appointment. I haven’t gone to salon since 2018. Nope! I love your tips, best thing is my aunt is professional hairstylist in Florida. She becomes amaze about things I asked about my hair she loves it! thank you

MinuteMaid92: The issue I have run into is finding someone local to even cut my hair. Ever stylist seems to specialize in balayage. The few stylists who seem like they could do my hair seems to only want to give me a deva cut. Not only can I not afford a deva cut, I don't want a deva cut. One stylist said my initial cut would have to be a deva cut and the future cuts could be a regular wet cut. It's very frustrating. Sadly I wear my hair up most of the time because I hate my current haircut. Oh how I wish Mel could cut my hair!

Isis Torres: Love you ladies!!!! Thank You for all this amazing content!! ❣

Molly Lighthart: So helpful and reassuring of my hair stylist I see that we consult like this great video!!

AtOoM-11: I can’t- her hair is just so gorgeous- although I’ve been watching her for like 2 and a half years, I can’t resist talking about her gorgeous, beautiful hair.

Heather Brown: Most everything I know about my curly hair I’ve learnt from you ‘ thank you my curls get better all the time thanks to your videos .

Donna Grinager: Thanks for all your help - I definitely know what to ask for next time - Happy Texture/Taco Tuesday

Suzanne Hinno: Hi Mel! I've been watching you for years, I know you aren't taking any new clients. I'm from Saskatchewan and visiting a friend in Toronto from Jan 12-17, 2022. Is there any chance at all I can book in with you for just one appointment to learn more about my curls/how to style them?! Hoping you see this!!

Carrie Fender: I guess I had to many horror stories of bad hair cuts that even thinking about finding a stylist fills me with anxiety.

Stefanie Morgan: This was such a thorough video that will help anyone find a stylist and communicate with them!

Aline Paradis: That was very helpful, thanks! I love the bloopers! Makes me laugh each time!

Suzie Althens: I love your videos. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and your fun personality!

Just another curly girl J: Always attracted to blonde and it's a love hate relationship... Whooooohoo definitely following you on pinterest! Side note my fiance asked me " what is a pinterest"

Jeanann McLachlan: What do you recommend for hair that lacks pigment? I have about 3 spots in my hair (that are getting bigger) that have lacked pigment for as long as I can remember.

Lynzi Collins: It's the best day of the week!! Happy Texture Tuesday! I'm so excited to watch ❤️❤️

Vero Alcalde: Mell I absolutely love your videos! They have changed my hair health. Can you do a video of dos and don’t of salon treatments for any hair type? Like would you recommend Brazilian blowouts or keratin treatments and that kind of treatments?

Alexandra Fraley: Out of curiosity how long should you wait after a bad haircut (where your hair got thinned) before going to a new salon (after doing better homework)?

Z Valenzuela: I was curious about specific haircuts that were in style---Mel said, "Lived in looks for both color and haircuts"---"long flowy layers." But what does that mean for people with shorter hair? I did a big chop over Covid and have grown it to just above my shoulders. I'm curious about bangs---last year was curtain bangs.... what's this year? A site I found just told me that curly baby bangs were all the rage! I don't know what to believe.

Amber Reyna: Aw Mell I wish you could do my hair I want to get white/platinum on the bottom layer and bangs but my forehead is literally 2 inches and all the people around me who I have seen don’t do what I want to get done and I don’t love their work I’ve never had my hair dyed or made such a drastic change so I’m conflicted like if I can’t get platinum cuz it won’t look right, idk what color would.

Kim Alderson: Hi Mell! I was wondering if you could do some videos for older women who are growing out their natural silvers? I love every video ❤️

Desiree Michaels: Do you have any tips for finding wavy to loose curl inspiration photos using natural hair? So many example photos of wavy to loose curl cuts are of hair that's obviously been somehow manipulated (like with a curling iron) to make it "wavy" or "curly". I'd love to find inspiration photos using hair that didn't need hours with a curling iron to look like the photo.

Cristina parra: Hey mel ! What kind of hair cut styles should we be doing to our curls ? Recommendation please!

Vicky Emmans: I live in Athens, Greene and I have tried too many different hair saloons and came to the conclusion that most of hairdressers don't know anything about curly hair..When they blow dry them they touch them...All The Time !! I end up with frizzy hair!!! So getting them to understand how to cut my hair is a struggle.

Flor Delgado: Your so special Mell. I shit you not! Haven't missed a video since you started. I would have chopped off, if it wasn't for you! I wish I could afford the high end products. I can see how they really help. My hair is NASTY, DYED AND DRY. (Naturally nasty dry, that why I dye. First for the color, last so people will think its fu@%ed if becuse if it ) I need a snip and am terrified to go to the salon! Thank you for being you. Godsend! ❣❣❣❣ P.S. what FLAVOR is yr favorit in teas?

Zora New: I can't find anyone to cut curly hair so I used your pigtail cut tutorial and everyone asked where I got my haircut lol Great Curly hair stylists are needed out here! ‍♀️

Rebecca Allen: Mell, how hard is it to learn to cut curly hair well? Disregarding specific techniques like Ouidad, Deva, Rezo, etc.

Susan Haynes: I remember when I first found you. I was so excited that someone understands n cuts Curly hair!! My husband from Buffalo we made plan to visit family n then go to your Salon. Only to find out within that month you’ve given up on cutting in the Salon n stay on YouTube ! Although I was sad for myself I was very happy for you. You r young , smart n oh so beautiful also having Seester with you U now make 2 Boss Uhm Bee-otchs ! For that and all you give to us curly girls THANK YOU ‍♀️‍

RG: Also note when booking to see your stylist: some may charge between 15-50$ for a consultation before your appointment! Apparently its not on trend, BUT - I'm ready to do a buzzcut. I've had long curly hair (similar to yours) my whole life but have always wanted to cut my hair at least once. I don't expect you to demo, but can you do a video or send some resources about what that transition, new care routine, and grow out will be like? Gracias ✌6

kana fullbuster: Mell i Love your hair color ! How did you achieve that !? By the way isn’t your curl are more loose ? I love it that way it change ! Nommy: I need someone like you here in the UK, specially now that I’m starting my curl journey and have no idea what I’m doing

Christi Farris: What about those of us who color our hair (dark red is my color of choice), but have 90% natural gray? Gray and dark red look great as an outfit, but horrible as a hair mix! What can I do to make it more friendly to keep my fave color? What color would I use to shadow my roots...or is that even a possibility? I trust you FIRST...then I will trust a new stylist. Thanks girl!

OLAPLEX: This is such great information!

ClaUDiishmoO: Mel your right on time. I was about to go to the salon

Blush the Borrowed Rib: Hair just found something it likes AND now i am like allright. That was QUiTE the journey now let us stress you by getting some green tips and a couple of streaks. Such a struggle to find matching strands that are real hairs.

Minna Uyeda: I really want to add some light to my dark brown hair, it’s hard to see my curls. But I’m afraid of bleach. I get a little reddish in the summer, and that’s still on my ends. But I think I’d like a bit more contrast without damage. Any advice?

Audrey G: I just want to have my hair color like Amandas! I need you, Mel !

Bettyanne Taylor: Hi Mel, I am struggling to find out what my hair porosity is. Everything I read, it still seems like I can fit either low or high. How can I find out for sure so I know what direction to go in? If I want to make an appointment, what do I need to ask for? I need someone that is an expert in porosity..... Recommendations? Can I make an appointment with you?

Emily: Can we also talk about the poodle with the party hat? I love it.

Gerry Gerry: Mel, I love you! For real. I wish you all the best, you are so cool and your chanel is really useful.

Donna-Gail Seymour'Stapleton: Id be disappointed going in only spending an hr or 2 on my hair like that. I love feeling pampered at the salon. We didnt go to the salon growing up (6 girls) & so ive literally only gone aince being an adult... One time i also sat probably 5 hrs getting extensions put in. Then my head stayed hurting (summertime) etc so bad i couldnt keep them in for even 3 mths. Lol. Prepping rice water at home rn to use in my hair soon.

Asma Saeed: Thank you for the tips girlll

Xarcady D: If anyone can find inspiration pictures for thin, fine curly hair for a short haircut, let me know! All the short curly styles I can find require lots more hair than I have, with much more texture/thickness than my hair can achieve. I can’t even tell my stylist what I want because I’m not sure, and we play guessing games at every appointment.

Aleksandra Lempart: My last hair salon experience was a nightmare it's been 6 years and I just cut my hair myself

Drăgan Crina-Mădălina: When you see that one of her examples used in the video (the root shadow) is done by someone in your country &city

Meagan Thompson: I have very loose curls, almost wavy and level 4-3 naturally. I want so bad to lighten it with highlights, but I know that I can't go blonde without constant upkeep. I used to go to one lady and she was amazing, but when I started wearing my hair natural it was obvious she had no Idea how to handle it. I'm just so scared to go back to a salon and walk out disappointed
