Hi guys welcome to my channel if you're new to my channel hi, my name is gloria oakings. Thank you so much for stopping by in today's video i'm going to be talking about trends or heart. I still don't know what to call this, but i was just randomly sitting down and thinking and i'm like wait, there's so many things. I'Ve tried on my natural hair that everyone was raving about that did not work for my hair and i'm very sure, i'm not the only one on this table. So i decided you know what let me just come and share it with you guys, and you guys should let me know if you're part of the few or the many it didn't work for so basically, i'm talking about the trends in the natural hair community or The trends that were going on with natural hair that did not work for my 4c low porosity natural hair. So if you want to know this strength, you want to know if you're on this table as well stay tuned and keep on watching. So the first point on my list is laying your edges: okay, guys it's not compulsory. To lay your edges, i know. Sometimes i still try to lay my edges to look cute or whatever, but it's not compulsory. You don't have to lay your edges. Remember where there were different ways to lay your edges, the spiral spider the spring others. You know those different ways to lay your edges. It did not work for my hair. My edges do not lay, and also using gel on your natural hair as well. Basically, using gel on your natural hair, i don't know if it works for you, i'm very sure it works for so many people out there. But for me with low porosity 4c natural hair, it doesn't work. No, it's not for me. I don't know if you're out there and you have fussy, low porosity, natural hair and gel works on your hair. Wow must be. Nice must be nice. That'S all i can see, because when it comes to laying my edges when it comes to using gel on my hair, i can't even do hairstyles with gel it's either it doesn't work or i have to put half of the bottle of the gel or two days Later i might end up with white residues or it ends up with white residues immediately. These are the things that happen to me when i try to use gel on my natural hair and just like, oh, don't play your celsius, so i try to avoid gel as much as possible. I don't know if you've seen any of my videos where i did hairstyles with gel. It didn't really come out as slick as i thought it would so i'm just like you know what maybe gel is not for me and i i genuinely do not mind because i have to wash my hair that same week. If i want to change my hairstyle, which i wouldn't want to do, see gels and laying your edges, it didn't work for me at all. The next point is rice water. You see that rice, water, that will leave your house smelling like fermented by mine. I tried this red rice water recipe, one time and my hair felt, like you know, when you're touching a clean surface that squeaky feeling. That was what my hair felt like and did my hair grow? No, it did not grow. I don't think the rice water grew. My hair in any way shape or form. Please let me know if rice water works for you, because it didn't work for me. Maybe i was using basmati rice instead of indifferent rice or is it the rice? Are we supposed to use a different type of rice, because for me, rice, water did not work for me. Please let me know if it worked for you, because it just left my house smelling like fermented rice, maybe easy rice. I used. I used normal turkey. Okay, not normal more like basmati rice but smarty. Looking rice, anyways yeah, that's what i used and it didn't work for me. Did it work for you, please. Let me know in the comment section below the next thing is wash and gos guys. I don't know i i honestly don't know if washer goes work for you if they work, for you must be, nice must be great, must be spectacular, but you see for me, you see this fussy, natural hair on my head gouache angles. They'Re, like this they're going like this because number one my hair is going to be really strong, really hard at the end of the day number two, my hair is too shrunken to even attempt to do any wash and goes number three. I know you're supposed to use gel or leave-in. They don't work on my hair. So how am i supposed to do wash and go if the product that is being used for the wash and goes wash and goes wash and go, does not work on my hair or does not work with my hair? So how is that supposed to happen? The first time i tried it, i didn't even finish. I just washed out the gel immediately with my immediate effect number one. It was having white residues number two. It was way too shrunken and i'm just like nah, i'm not ready to walk around like this number. Three, it was getting hard and my hair used to be very hard. Then now it's getting soft, thank god, but my hair used to be very hard and difficult to manipulate. Imagine having that hair in wash and go no, that's not what we're going to do. No so basically wash and go did not work for me, it did not work on my fussy, hair, low, porosity hair. No, nothing! I see see if you have fussy low, porosity hair and you did wash your coat that actually works. Please let me know in the comment section below and please send me a picture on my dms on instagram, because i'm curious. The next thing on my list is coconut oil. I don't know how long you guys have been natural or how long you've been following the whole natural hair movement and natural hair community type of thing. But you see there was a time where everyone was raving and swearing by coconut oil wow. It didn't work. For me, i noticed when i started using coconut oil. I was having like dry scales on my scalp, like literally, had dry scales on my scalp. If i did, it was not dandruff. My scalp was just dry. I would literally coat my hair with coconut oil. On my scalp, instead, it will just dry up there and stick on my scalp and then turn to flakes, and then i have to scrape it out so who played themselves me. I played myself and i know coconut oil was one of the trends that did not work for me. It has not worked for me. I don't even use it on my hair anymore. I feel it's too strong and it's too thick for my hair. In order for my hair to absorb it, it's too much, so i just stopped using it completely. When i noticed it was the cost of my dry scalp part of the course of my dry scalp. My next point is choosing to finger detangle rather than using a tool. Remember that time i don't know if you guys went on the trend as well, but there was a time when people stopped using white tooth comb combs on their natural hair because they felt it was breaking their hair off when they combed their hair. So they stopped using it and decided to start using their fingers to detangle their hair instead of combs sis over here tried it and guess how it ended ended in tears. My hair was tangled up. They were not at the end whenever i would try to part my hair with my rat tail comb, detangling it or separating it was a struggle. I was giving myself a necessary stress, i'm not saying finger, detangling is bad. All i'm saying is: please use a white tooth comb after you finger detangle to avoid knots on your hair. Maybe if you have a looser curl pattern, hair, it might work for you, but it didn't work for me. It didn't work on my fussy, hair. That'S all! I'M saying so, if you worked for you, if you only finger detangle your hair, i don't know how you do it if you have fussy hair, but this take out those dead hairs out of your hair. Okay, because the day i finally chose to detangle my hair with a wide tooth comb, the amount of shed hair that came out right, i had to tell i don't know if it was breakage or i just told myself, you know what it's shed hair, because our Hair shed and it needs to come out at some point so when you only finger detangling, the shade hair is just going to remain there and cost not at the ends of your hair, so who's going to remove these knots. Oh that trend, i tried it for a month and i got tired immediately. Let me know if you actually went with your fussy hair and you didn't detangle it with a tool. Now i've come to my final points, guys this one. I tried it so many times and it didn't work. You see those ingredients that they would say. Oh use this for overnight hair growth. Did it work for you because for me it did not work. You know all those ingredients where they would say. Try this oil mixture use it on your hair overnight for hair growth for overnight hair growth or grow one inch overnight, one inch of hair overnight. Ah, what was i thinking like seriously? What was i thinking to think my hair would actually grow an inch, an inch overnight, wow guys na nana. Some of these strains they need to stop. They need to cut them away with scissors, they need to cut them out, because i don't understand how you tell me: i can grow my hair overnight by using a particular oil or some oil mixture when an average human hair grows. Is it half an inch or an inch per month? My own hair would now grow well. Our hair was supposedly supposed to grow overnight by an inch guys. Please please, please let me know if i'm the only one that experienced these things. Let me know if you guys also tried these strengths and they did work because everything was a scam everything i mentioned right now. It was just come to me because nothing worked like literally, nothing worked, please let me know which one worked for your hair and which one you tried that actually genuinely work. Let'S not play ourselves here the trend going on right now in the natural hair community. I believe is the one where you don't: oil, your scalp or you don't put oil on your scalp or you don't moisturize your scalp. I don't really know what it is, but please, if you know, please leave it in the comment section below, so i can see it or check it out and i'm definitely not hoping on that. Anyways i've come to the end of this video. Please let me know which train hit you the most or which trend you tried out, that didn't work for you, so yeah, of course, the end of this video. Thank you guys. So much for watching and i'll see you guys in my next video, okay, bye, guys, you

Ginia Maxwell: I. Agree. With. Every. Single. Point. Emphasis on the fact that I’m NOT finger detangling!!

Ila Lyaanyuka: I relate to them all . I never did the finger detangle trend though. When I found out about it, i just knew from the beginning I could never‍♀️.

Tabri Ben: Rice water would be a form of protein treatment. Low porosity hair is generally sensitive to protein treatment. It would do more harm than good. What they dont say is that they elongate the hair so it doesn't look shrunken. So it's not really a wash and go. Coconut oil is highly comedogenic and will clog the pores so it shouldn't be used on the scalp.

Feisty Chickpea: I left the online natural hair community about 5 or 6 years ago because I was tired of buying products that sat on top of my hair, using tools and techniques that broke my hair, and having to search really hard to find my hair type represented. When I started easing back into the online natural world about a year ago, your channel was one of the first ones I found. I was so happy to find a hair type that actually looks and behaves like mine! But it wasn't long before I got sucked into the madness again. A couple of months ago I hopped on the no oils, butters, or creams wash and go trend because I saw my aunt have success with it (knowing full well that our hair types are completely different.) I got stuck with about 3 different gels that didn't work on my hair. Instead of throwing them out, I came across a youtuber who combined gel with foam/mouse and was able to use that as a twisting agent. So far so good. My twists are nice and my twistouts are defined. Still mad a myself though for jumping on a trend that I knew full well wouldn't work for my hair

Caroline Mamelpo: Girl girl, I feel you, somebody just had to lay down the cards, and you just did☝you're so right

Vicky Jacky: Girl you've been through everything I've been through. Everything you said is me except rice water.... didn't work immediately but after some time I noticed a lot of growth so I continued using it. To cut my long story short,I texlaxed my hair o cuz I just couldn't deal with all that stress in the name of hair.

Debbie Ken: Hi, I relate to almost everything you said in the video. 1. I never lay my edges anymore 2. I stopped using oils in my hair except I add very little oil to my whipped Shea butter (Shea butter is the only thing that works for me) 3. The rice water thing never worked for me instead it made my hair hard and stiff 4. I also stopped using aloe vera on my hair because it had the same effect that oil had on my hair 5. I dont prepoo my hair as well coz what's the point, I will still wash it out. And prepooing with oil never worked for me. I'm 4c low porosity and I've finally been able to get a wash and go. I used the Anthony Dickey method. If you check YouTube, he has a video on it. His channel's name is Hairrules. Please try his method and see if you like the results coz I did. His way is not the conventional wash and go method.

Albertina Hazvineyi: I actually think rice water did more damage to my hair… and the oiling trend‍♀️ up until last year the LCO or LOC method was the key but now oil is bad???? The natural hair community needs to make up their mind with these things!

what they could have said? {WTCHS}: Literally like you said. None of these worked for me when I tried it. The only one I haven’t tried is the rice water. But I’m not even gonna do that. At the beginning of my journey of natural hair, I was literally doing all of these and no wonder my hair didn’t grow. But now I have all the right products and tools so I’m sticking to them like glue!!! Thank you for this video!! You are beautiful by the way!!

4c Liberty: Agree with most of the points BUT heated coconut oil as a prepoo or blended with other oils as a sealant works so well for me. Finger detangling on its own is tricky but I take the time to do this when I take down my braided hair every 23-3 weeks and I use a wide tooth comb every 3 months.

Zanele Shikwambana: I appreciate you doing this video. I can relate to what you were saying especially when it comes to Wash and go's, using gel to lay down my hair and finger detangling only...non of them worked. Sorry to go off topic, please assist me I have fine strands and my hair breaks like crazy, what can I do to reduce the breakage ...any tips

ABIGAIL ADEKUNLE: Thank God, i found my twin 4c low porocity hair. Gel doesn't work on my hair. Rice water was a scam for me. Wash and go doesn't fit my hair because my hair is too strong. Coconut oil makes my haiŕ even more strong. I don't even use my finger to detangle my hair, i jejely use my wide come. Overnight hair growth It's a scam sis

Lindsay Thebe: I relate to allllll of these; but the last one got me! I've fallen too many times for these overnight growth tricks.

Dima Masekoameng: None of them worked and I have been using coconut oil as a pre-poo treatment and my scalp is itching everyday. Now I know what’s causing my scalp to itch

DaisiesandPandas: I came back on the natural hair scene in July after leaving it for like 5 years or so. I've got yao recipe rice water in a dark space in my wardrobe now, smelling like sundried orange peels last time i checked it which was on it's one week fermentation... The more it stays in there (i was going to use the first jar after 1 week, and the second jar after 2 weeks, there's no rice in the jar, just the water and orange peels and the yao women ferment 2 weeks in summer and 1 month in winter), anyway the more it stays in there the more i see more natural hair trend videos and more videos on gimmicks to try on your hair and see it grow in a week and now i see i'm getting sucked like i did all those years ago, instead of simple hair care, low manipulation and time, i'm looking for acceleration again, and the more i realise this, the more i'm wondering if something came over me to want to put fermented rice water on my scalp? like just putting anything on my scalp, risking my scalp health for what? what possessed me when i went out to get the jars, the oranges etc? Wahala

Kathleen Adeshoga: I learned that wash and go's take a while to master. It's more about technique, application and setting the style under a hooded dryer properly so that it can last me the whole week. The other trends you mentioned didnt work for me either I just stick to a simple routine and call it a day

justanotherpersonxo: Cantu livin in conditioner was the one thing that actually made a difference i my hair. It didn't grow but it's much softer when i use it.

Dorothy Ngoma: My hair/edges don't lay too it's too natural! I think gels don't work for me too.

Lethuthando Maphalala: The edges and gel part I felt cause my hair will look at me like I’m stupid... FIIIIRRRRSSSTTTLLYYY WHY THE HELL DO WE CALL IT WASH AND GO IF THERE ARE A MILLION STEPS BETWEEN THE WASH AND THE GO Rice water definitely worked for me, when my twa was damaged, it helped repair my hair BUT it wasn’t an over night thing, I had to continuously use it for about a week or 2. Low porosity will embarrass you, if you come for it side ways with hacks

Okelola Boluwatife: To be honest, with rice water- I don't even know if it does anything to my hair. It (and onion juice treatments which I use pre-shampoo) just makes me feel like I'm doing something right. And, if GreenBeauty certifies it, best believe I'd partake Wash and go (just imagine me saying this in my Nigerian accent), like wash and go where? I can't, for the love of God, stand applying that amount of gel on my hair . I'm jealous of you and your ability to flat twist and cornrow your hair into these pretty styles

Amir Graham: You hit it dead on with me No gel in me hair No Wash n go and my edges OMG Gloria Hell Yea

Comfort-Lucia Ajene: Every time I’m tempted to buy another gel My : sis don’t play yourself Rice water made my scalp so dry and flaky That grow 1 inch overnight mehnnn

Just In case: One size doesn’t always fit all. Do what works for you

NanaAma Dansoa: Some natural hair folks be stressing too much than the actual problems they face in life

Tabri Ben: What the natural hair youtubers should make known is their hair porosity. What works for high porosity hair will not work for low porosity.

Simply Well with Dr. Saran Oliver: Completely agree with all of these!

Charity Musa: This is so me,,they're playing us alot

Anasthasie A B: I tried everything except the last one, and i didn't see any result . I also have 4c low porosity hair

dineo putsoa: The overnight magic sis that never work also I don't know what was I thinking believing that my hair can actually grow 2 inches a night

Lily Ngoma: Your Hairstyle is so beautiful!

fayth35: Girl I believe you’re my sister from another mother because ALL those things you mentioned didn’t work for me either

Pauline Muthoni: All truth. Thank you highlighting this. Am trying all kinds recommendations but it doesn't work for my hair.

Maryjane Okon: My edges don't lay at all. I tried doing that today. I first moisturized, conditioned and tried to use gel. It didn't work. I used a lot of gel in my front hair line. It still didn't work. I had to wash off my hair and find another style for me

Jackie Shep: Girl, none of the trends worked for me either. My baby hairs laugh me.

Chelsea Richardson: I love this so true SO TRUE

Em_i k: So hilarous girl, I love your vidéos...I don't have 4c hair maybe 4b 4a but definitly finger detangling don't works for me too

anyayo martha: Laying edges and gel!!! It's all a lie

Dominion Gideon: You just got yourself a new subscriber with this video.

Lydia Dixon: I care so less about edges smh! Can’t stand gel at all what’s so ever!

JaRavia Hemphill: No ma’am. Rice water did not work in the slightest for me. And I’m done finger detangling. Wide comb me and call it a day

Danyelle Jones: My 4c hair doesn't lay with gel. I dont even try. I dont have time to put two tubes of gel on my hair. Rice water is not for us.

dineo putsoa: My hair hates coconut oil it dries my hair out

sweetpeaHNO: All you've listed also never worked for me!!! Esp gel

blkgirlsarepengg: I was just laughing all through... I just had to subscribe.

Mabel Sackey: Coconut oil didn't work for me either I have a whole jar wasting in my cabinet

Lola ego: You're so right, those things don't work for me too.... I realized most of them weren't with 4c hair like they claim to be. I've had a wash n go that worked but It damaged my hair.... The detangling brushes are over hyped

dineo putsoa: Sis rice water never work for me so is the gel

Victoria Okeke: Basmati rice water or a different rice . This natural hair thing is touch n go - try the one you see and keep the one that works. What I need is styling videos not wash n jebe ebe?

Shiona Joseph: Rice water worked for me. I used black rice, boiled it & fermented overnight. No bad odor.

Nabaweesi Beth: I love the hair style

Omoruyi Eseosa: I love my coconut oil my hair loves it

Mahra Irene: The gel part. 3 days the gel inside is not dried like WTF

Maddy Hiswill: Mmm so true charbut that's on periodt.

Maik Zander Consulting: your smile your face mindboggling

Bukunmi: Can I like this video twice?

Franklina Addai: Omg am not alone

Christina Brady: Where is the lie?????

Alkamist: Laying your edges is not important.
