What'S up welcome to my youtube channel in today's video I'm gon na be showing you guys how to add a contrast with money piece in the front with a little bit of foliage on the end, because I personally think that this is going to be the look. A fall 2019 and into 2020, so stay tuned. Alright, guys welcome to this video, I am so excited to be sharing with you guys this particular look. This is something that I've never done before and it's a little bit different than what I traditionally do, but I have seen this look going around Instagram and I'm really excited to try it out to dive in and just show you guys. My spin on this amazing technique, so let's get started alright, so this is our before and our model has never colored her hair before so. I'M excited to give her some brightness around her face, add in some dimension and give her some contrast, and I can't wait to share with you guys what we're gon na do. So, let's go mix up alright, so we're gon na be mixing up about probably like two scoops here and I'm gon na start with 30 volume, because I really want that bright money piece in the front and then we're gon na go through and do some foliage Pieces kind of towards the back and on the ends, but we're gon na start with 30 volume here and I might increase it to 35. I am using olaplex, so I feel okay doing that, but because her hair doesn't have any color on it. I'M feeling okay with using 30 all right, so what I decided to do is I'm actually going to go in and I'm actually going to start in the very front and I'm gon na really kind of isolate this money piece section. I really want to have a lot of brightness there and then what we're gon na do is we're gon na work our way down kind of through this back section, so you guys have a decent amount of hair, so we're going to go through with some foiling Edge pieces down in here brighten up some of these ends and then I'm going to show you guys how we're gon na achieve this look with our toner. So it's gon na be really fun, but we are going to start here in the front. I'M not personally going to section anything out, but I kind of have an idea of where I want to go with things, and I think it's a really good idea to not only talk with your client through the consultation but figure out for yourself. The consultation of where you're going to start kind of map things out, see like where the hair is laying, I know for me. I want that to be brighter, but as it lays with the hair like. What'S that all going to look like so definitely something to kind of map out before you even just jump into the hair? Alright so, like I said, we're gon na start in the front, and I always like to do kind of my mohawk section first and then work our way to the side, so I always go directly off of where they part their hair. So I'm just going to kind of take this section. It just makes it a little bit easier. You guys can see. She'S got some baby hairs in here and because I want this to be pretty prominent, I'm actually going to take it kind of about an inch wide section from her hairline, maybe even a little bit more because I do want it to be pretty prominent and she's Got some fine hair she's got a lot of it, but it's pretty fine, so we're gon na take that - and I won't put this away just to make it a little bit easier and cleaner as I'm working. So I can have my clean section here and we'll see more so I'm going to take my Mohawk section and you guys know that I like to foil backwards so see, because I want this to be pretty prominent and it's barely going to leave any hair out. I won't weed this, but I'm gon na leave like very little hair out. It'S gon na be more of like a thicker piece, not so much a slice, but we're gon na do back-to-back. So the reason why I'm doing that is to just kind of infuse that root area a little bit and I am going to go in with my blending agent now this is the biological prince and I'm just gon na barely tap that in at the root. Then I'm gon na go in with my Lightner here and, if you've ever watched any of my other oily on videos. Typically, I do the foil of the opposite direction, but if you've ever watched me in my highlighting videos, I've boiled backwards. So I'm actually going in with more of my highlighting technique, but with that blending agent, so it's kind of a little combo from what I do, but I definitely recommend checking out some of my other videos. If you haven't seen me do this technique, I can link some down below in the description. So then, what I'm going to do is I'm just going to kind of feather this in now, this piece is going to be kind of the only one that I really feather in the rest are going to be pretty close to the root and what I also Will do is I'm going to take a clean dry brush that I already have over here and I'm just gon na kind of clean that up a little bit. I almost use this as like an eraser to help kind of blend everything in now. What I don't want to do, is they don't want to squish this all back, so I'm gon na fold, this into thirds, and you guys can see, look at these fun foils. These are actually the virial foils from frame are love these foils so much. I think they're just so beautiful and they really hold so so well, alright! So now we're gon na go in and I'm not gon na leave any hair out. I am just gon na kind of weave it just a slight slight fit again. This is just kind of breaking it up a little bit and it's gon na go in my foil, lock it into place and continue doing the same thing that I was doing all right and I'm gon na continue all the way through this section. Alright, so in between some of these foils, I did leave out you guys can see like a slight baby light, but now that we're about a half an inch from the hairline, I'm not gon na leave out any more because again, I want that strength in there. So we're just going in same thing: I'm actually gon na slice, these ones and the reason why I'm creating the blending agent at the root is because I do want to light fit of diffusion and we'll probably go back in route shadow and just also diffuse. This a little bit more, but for me I just wanted just a slight bit of diffusion right at the root so that when it grows out or if her roof shadow fades, it's gon na still be soft growing out versus a line growing out. So that's just a personal preference, you guys you can't go all the way to the root. You could leave a little bit out. You could tease it just for this client and model. That'S what I decided to do. I always like to keep it really low maintenance for my clients and model. Again, that's the personal preference, that's just kind of the clientele that I had built, and so that's just something that I like to do: keep it a little low maintenance for them. So again, we're gon na go in and you guys can see. I'M just gon na pull er that out - and I am using this as like an eraser and then I brush it off on my towel on my tray and that just makes a huge, huge difference. So we're gon na continue all the way to the front, leaving out none of his hair anymore, and then I'm going to show you guys when we get to the sides alright. So what I'm gon na do for a lot of these little baby hair. So this is actually a really common area that a lot of clients have baby hairs and a lot of times us as stylist will just foil the front and then wait for the sides. And then we miss this whole little section right here and if you do that, when the client wears their hair back, you can see there's a ton of depth in here. That would have gotten missed. So what I like to do is I actually like to tear my foils in half. So I got these little baby foils here and I'm just going to kind of grab this little section here and we're gon na foil it in there and just get really in detail you guys can see. I actually did it with this little piece right here and because we're doing a strong money piece. I want it to be pretty nice when she wears her hair back. She exercises a lot, and so we want to make sure that it looks good when she has it in a ponytail. So you guys can see I'm just kind of getting in there and I love these brushes the frame our brushes, because it allows you to get all up in there and tearing the foils in half to really just make it easy and able to get these little Detailed pieces, so I'm going to do this on just a couple of these pieces here, I'll still fold them and I mean come on - look how cute these foils look. I have them linked in my bio and some of my favorite products. If you guys want to check those out as well do another one right here now I want to make sure that I'm not picking up like too many hairs in here, so we are kind of just picking up a few like baby light pieces. But again, this is gon na allow her to have a beautiful hair line when she wears her hair back and you guys can see I'm going all the way to the root with these because they're just so fine they're, almost like strand baby lights, whatever you want To call that I'm going straight to the root, I'm not using my bloody major there, all right, so I went and did be kind of little baby hairs right in here. On this side you guys can see I factored about five different foils. So, quite a bit of like detail work in there. Some foils just had a very few amount of hairs in there. So yeah. Now I'm gon na work on her science, and just so you guys know I am still using 30 volume, because these are baby hairs. They'Re gon na process pretty quickly, so I don't feel like. I need to bump up the developer at all, so I'm gon na do the same thing. Kind of right here take her first little side piece, and these are just like again little baby hairs that we're getting in the foil and it's a full twice. I didn't weave any of it out, but you can tell that I it's following along her hairline. So it's not like a straight across piece, even though it is straight across it's kind of as following your hairline, so there is kind of a gap here in that middle section and I'm not using any blending agent. Like I said, I'm just going straight in and applying our lighter and we might do a slight bit of a root shadow, but I think I want it to be pretty strong. So so I'm just going to continue this diagonal back, I'm doing slices and so I'm not leaving any hair out, I'm not leaving any hair out. I'M because again, I do want it to be pretty solid. So when I get to probably about the third foil and that's it I'll - probably leave a little bit of a weave and leave some hair out, but we'll probably do about four wheels here all right. So I finished all the way around her hairline and now we're going to add in just a little bit of lightness through kind of her ends. I want there to be some brightness here. You guys can see. She'S got just a little bit from the Sun, but I want to enhance out a little bit. So what I'm gon na do is I'm just gon na kind of take a diagonal back section here and again, this isn't really sectioned out and all perfect. It'S kind of more just like going off of how her hair lays, and so I'm doing this piece a little bit closer to these front pieces, because I do want it to tie and I don't want there just to be like a chunk and then nothing. So I'm taking this piece, but we are gon na really focus it on her ends. So I'm going to weave this out and you guys will notice too. Typically, when I do my coil iaj, I use a not a wide toothed comb. I use a very what's the other word. I can't think of it if you can think of it, leave it in the comments, a fine-tooth comb Wow guys. Okay, anyway, I used a fine-tooth comb. This one is a wide toothed comb, because I want to make sure that I'm catching all these little baby hairs. You guys can see. She'S got in here, it's just her hair texture. So I want to kind of capture those and I'm going to tease it pretty. Well here, so that I kind of have like a more thin section down here, so I am taking my longer foils. These are the roads, oils from primar and they're really cool because they come out in a roll and you can make them as long as you need them. So that's why I really like using these. So what I'm going to do is I'm gon na place? My foil, I'm gon na grab my blending agent that viologic milk rinse and I'm gon na paint that on and then I'm gon na go in with our Lightner. Now I did jump up my Lightner to about 33 volume, not quite 35 volume. We still have all the flecks in there, but I did just kind of bump it up just a little bit, so I'm gon na go through and kind of tip out. These ends throughout her hair and kind of just blend it up into that blending agent. I am doing a little bit higher here in the front because again I do want that to blend in our money piece, but we'll do a little bit lower in the back. I'M going to continue this all the way around the head till we reach that and I'm going to do the same thing on the other side. Alright, so we just finished her application. You guys can see all the foils kind of lead back into here and again I just did diagonal backs all the way around her head until we kind of met here in the middle and then obviously our front pieces. So I'm excited to show you guys what this is going to look like, so I'm applying olaplex number two throughout her hair right now, and the reason why I like to do this right after I rinse her foils is because you guys saw we had a lot Of teasing in there - and so this is gon na, allow it to start to detangle before we even start to apply our toners. We want to make sure when we're applying our toners. The way that I'm going to show you guys is. We want to make sure that where everything is detangled, so this just really kind of helps start the process. So that's why I always like to do my olaplex number, two kind of before I even tone or anything like that. Some people do it after there's. No right or wrong, but this is the reason why I like to do. It, helps kind of relieve some of that detangling and you guys see. I use a lot of olaplex number two and I don't get stingy with it. I use a lot more than they recommend, but again it's more for that detangling reason all right. So what I did was I Whitney sectioned out kind of her front money piece section and we left that out there and now I'm kind of got our ends here. Anyways can see that we definitely have a lot more contrast going on, which is exactly what I wanted, so these just lifted so beautifully. There'S a little bit of warmth in here that I do want to tone out. So what I'm gon na do is I'm just going to apply shades, eq, 7, P and 9, and so it's almost like a 8np. They don't have that shade. So I made it myself and I'm just gon na apply it kind of towards these ends here that we have here. I really want to see that contrast from the front to the back, so we're gon na tone it down to like a level 8 and just kind of get rid of a little bit more of that warmth that's in there, and I also think because she's got This hair texture that has a little bit more president, the shades eq, is gon na help kind of smooth that out. I don't know if you guys have ever noticed that with your clients, but the shades eq really does help kind of smooth it out. So I am applying it to her entire length of her hair and then we're gon na go and mix up the front money piece section toner, alright! So now for her toner for her money, paste section, I actually mixed up 10 in 9, gb and 10 VV. So I did a little bit more Tennant than I did 9 gb and 9 VV, but I wanted to have a really good kind of neutral mix and there I didn't want it to be too Ashley. But I didn't want it to be too gold in either. So what I'm gon na do is I'm going to apply it to her money piece area and we are going to go back through and just kind of reach out of this just a little bit. But I'm going to apply the toner first to this area and then, like I said, we'll go back through and do the root shadow. This has been a technique that I've been playing around with and it's something I've been kind of hearing on Instagram a lot where people go through applying the toner and then they go through and apply the root shadow and it creates a really soft blend. So we're gon na try that today and I hope that it works out well, but I think it'll work out great. Do you guys love that I'm, like totally transparent and like hey, we're gon na try something new today again, that's another reason why I love Instagram is because there's so many awesome techniques out there or just like little tips and tricks that you can find through other Stylists, so I think it's really cool all right, so I have our money piece section here and you guys can see that I actually literally just took out that tiny little bit of the hairline here, and these were the pieces where I did a little bit more Of that route, blending agent, and so what I'm going to do is I'm just gon na barely soften them with the root shadow and I actually mixed up 6n and seven and shades eq. So I'm just gon na apply it to this little tiny area. I'M literally gon na do it about just an inch down nothing crazy, I'm gon na not make sure to not get it on that front. Hairline area just kind of right in here - and this is just gon na soften it just a little bit I'll. Take my little comb because I'm just doing this over a gloss, I'm okay using my comb and just kind of blurring it, and there you guys know that I'm usually a huge fan of using something like the WoW comb to do this. But because we're just doing this tiny, tiny section - I'm not too concerned about it - so just doing it right here, but I want these pieces around her hairline to be real, real, bright and poppy, so we're gon na let this process for about another 10. More minutes. All right - and here is our final look, you guys. I am obsessed with how this turned out and, to be honest, I think this is gon na, be the new look of 2019 for fall and even into 2020. You guys. I think that this is something super fun. I love that really bright contrast in the front and then some subtle ends here, and so I hope that you guys love this tutorial. I really love doing it and I'm obsessed with how it turned out all right guys. I hope you enjoyed watching this video. I had so much fun doing it. It was something different than what I normally do and I think that's kind of fun sometimes to try something different, try something out of our comfort zone, but you guys, I am obsessed with the results, and I can't wait for you to try this out. Like I said in the beginning of this video, I think that this is gon na, be the hair color the fall trend of 2019 into 2020. I'M calling it right now so again. I hope that you guys enjoyed this. I was completely inspired by Chris Weber, hair for this look so shout out to him check him out on Instagram. His work is amazing and I definitely got some inspiration from him for this. Look because it's just so fun and, like I said I had seen it going around on Instagram something new. I had to try it myself. Sam Vay: Never colored her hair before?!! Omg her natural color is GORGEOUS! Also love the end result and how real you keep it!

Sarah Woodward: Ok girl. I’ve been in the business for 15 years and this is hands down some of the best color work I’ve seen on YouTube

Catherine Mejia: I started foiling backwards like you and although it took a little getting used to it’s been not only giving me amazing results but I’m moving faster, love your channel and your content

ADayWithPrincessMelly: It’s actually the “quarantine “ look 2020

Jennifer D: I looooooove this look! Also love how you work! You’re “relaxed” but so thought out with your foil placement which make them blend so well!!

Lacey Ross: I’m a new cosmetologist - and I’ve learned so much from you! Any time I interested in a new technique I go straight to your channel to see if you have a video. I feel like our styles are very similar ; making it very easy for me to learn from you! Thank you for sharing your wisdom

Abby McElroy: Literally so happy I found your channel. I’m currently a cosmetology student at Paul Mitchell. I’ve learned so much but I want more color/blonde education so thank you for this channel!!!

-ˏˋmaddy whiteˎˊ-: Obsessed with this!! It’s so beautiful! I love the blonde streaks right in the front! Amazing work! You inspire me!

Olivia M: I looooove your page!!! I am a new stylist (assisted for 2.5 years) have been behind the chair for about 6 months and you have helped me become soooo much better I can’t tell you enough how helpful your page has been!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge!!!

Laura Paschell: I absolutely love this and I love how you did the “money piece”! which is something I have to do on a client of mine on Saturday and honestly I’ve never really done it before so I’m a little worried because we are making the rest of her hair a rich red using pravana chromasilk 6RR - so I wanted your opinion or tips (also from anyone else Who reads this please!) on how to not get the red on the money piece? I’m terrified I want the money piece to be the color you did it and I’m always scared of “bleeding” when mixing other colors on the same head with bright blonde

Aubrie Whittaker: I loved how this turned out❤️ It’s so nice to see something different and this WAS different!!! Great technique I’ll have to give this a try!!

katlin macleod: Love how informative your videos are! Personally, I would never use 30 volume (even with olaplex) around the hairline. If you use small enough sections, you really need no more than 10 volume... I always find those hairs (virgin or colored) are always more fragile... but that's just me! Your end result is beautiful

Lauren Allred: How would you do this same process with about 30% gray peppering? Would you root shadow with Demi permanent before or after? If before, would you set the shadow and then go through with the lightener so as to have more seem less blending? Thanks for the advice in advance! :) love your channel!

priyanka manku: Tried this technique on one of my client today and the outcome was stunning

Johann a Garay: Me encanta, que trabajo más limpio

Danielle Moore: Jamie, you are amazing! Thank you for continuing to be so generous with all of us!

Caitlin and Greg: Looks great!! Love the outcome, I have a client who I’m going to try this look out on!!

Elyse Rotman: Hey Jamie! I'm apprenticing at a salon in the Nortern Toronto area using primarily Davines colour and haircare, but we do use some L'Oreal lines as well and some Redken toners too. Something that I've learned from a colourist with the Shades EQ toners is that when you run your hands through the hair enough times, it lathers like a shampoo, and it shows less of those tones. So once applied, just leave it on the hair and the toner will do its work :)

Maryam: Beautiful work like always. I really enjoyed this video, I been learning from you a lot and I appreciate the effort you put for us to learn, like how you film n mention every single detail. Thanks a lot.

Chloe D’Alessandro: Your videos have been so helpful and given me so much inspiration to get back to doing more hair. Could you maybe show some videos in the future on how you transition blondes to darker brown balayage? You do beautiful work

C H: Amazing as usual! . Such a great job and love how you did the back and sides! I’m gonna try that in the salon. Also good to see a detailed way of doing baby hairs.. ugh I struggle with that. ‍♀️. But mainly cuz I’m scared they will break off lol.

Florida_grl_43 Beach: Love love how it turned out!! You did a great job ❤️

Jane Smith: That was so labor intensive, at least it looked so from here. But the result was stunning. Perfect balayage. You always do beautiful work, Jamie.

paula smith: Absolutely gorgeous! I agree, this is going to be the look!!

Kortney Steury: Girl! This looks beautiful! Haven't seen a money piece video yet and I'm so happy I saw it here! <3

Marisa Brocco: Great technique!!! Looks beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing this

Dana Lynn: That was a wonderful technique! You are amazing Jamie!

victoria rodionova: This is the best video about how to do highlits perfectly! Thank you so much❤️❤️❤️

Gabriela Arellano: Loved this tutorial thanks so much!!

Tuere Taylor: I personally love your videos I’m learning so much and it’s making me want to go back into the salon ( Working ) now .. so exciting and very informative !!!!

Mic Mic: I want to skip on some parts but I can't because I just love to listen to her voice!! I've never imagined how a hair coloring tutorial would be so soothing to watch and to hear. Love this vid, I wanna try this so I can glow up this quarantine!!

david david: Have a client coming in tomorrow looking for something similar. Going to do this technique Already follow you and Chris on insta ❤️ thank you

69Okidokikaraoki: It’s exactly what I was looking for THANK U SO Much!!

Jennifer Williams: Absolutely gorgeous look!

Lila T: I love the way you highlight going backward on the front section!! I have this STUPID annoying cowlick on the right side of the front of my hair, and it seems like no matter how hard I try, I can never get it to be even with the rest of my face frame highlights, and it's probably not that noticeable, but of course, to me, it REALLY is, ESPECIALLY if I wear my hair back lol.. I am going to try doing what you are doing, because my cowlick seems to want to go backwards that way... Is this a factor when you are doing face frames?

Velina Rodriguez: This was great thank you. I’ve been looking for something like this.

NORA LORENZ: Wow ! You did a fantastic job with this the thumbnail doesn’t do it justice ❤️

Aurys Castillo: Wow I love it!!!! Will try it on my hair and I will do it myself Cant wait! Thank you so much for this video

Tracy Johnson: This was the exact technique I was looking for! I need to touch up my daughter/model's Money Piece Area.....PERFECT!

C Morton: Getting older (53) and am going to the salon for chocolate brown. Thinking of something fun for the summer and I love this!

Shantelle Fernandes: Hi Jamie, Enjoy watching your videos - informative and helpful. Would you recommend doing this if one has thinning in the front area of the head? However hair is always parted on the side to cover up the thinning in the middle area? The money piece will also be a dark burgundy colour on dark brown hair.

Andrea: Loved this technique and loved the end result! So pretty Btw... you have beautiful eyes!

MRH: "I think this is a trend that will go into 2020" Quarantine: *yes*

JJ Bowman: I would love to do this with my curly hair ❤️❤️❤️ Maybe instead of blond in the front use a silver/grey because I have grey hair and I’d rather embrace it now that ignore it to be a surprise for later

fransisco cardenas: I’m definitely gonna try this! I wanna create a look like this! I love the foilayage technique! I even use it for my clients I lighten their pussy hair!! It’s very universal!

CAROLINE SOTO: Yas!! I used the money piece last year and I loved it!! I made mine silver!!!!

PATTY LUNA: Wow that's exactly what I was looking for thanks so much you are amazing ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Christa Reday: That was beautiful! Can you do a video on how to go from double processed blonde to this look? I'm currently doing it myself, but I'm not sure if my regrowth is too much or if I need to go in and lowlight to break up the ends and then how dark should I go? Thanks. Christa PS, if you need a model for this, let me know. I'm a flight attendant and I can travel to you

Julia Ruggiero: i loved how u did that eraser thing i’m definitely gonna try that on my clients !

Shari Magby: Beautiful work as always!

MH: omg I love it!! my hair is your length but im still gonna get my stylist to do this on me. I think it will look so good <3 x

Nicole Weaver: Been needing something like this, money pieces intimidate me lol, the color was beautiful!

Sheila Abraham: We have the same shampoo bowls. How often do you hit that handle and spray water everywhere? I love watching you do color. So organized and tidy.

Breevah Eva: Personal, I'm too nervous to put 30 volume on those front hairs, and I usually do them last. Just from my own personal experience on my own head, ive had really bad breakage before, and I don't want that to happen to my clients. Buttttt, my fears aside I really enjoyed your video, free education is ALWAYS appreciated!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to show us your technique!!❤️

Alex Martinez: I have been wanting to do this to blend my greys in that only grow in this chunk in the front. i was so surprised to see people willingly do this to their hair since I was just trying to blend in highlights to my greys hahaa

Kelsey Linn: Her natural color is gorgeous!! Love your techniques

Sabrina Hodge: This is so beautiful. Your foli placement is amazing.

John Victor James: the process is clean and the result is good! Nice

Taylor Archibald: I'm still so glad I found you here!! I love your coloring techniques. I'm trying to reteach myself to move to a booth

David Hill: Love this Thank you I gasped when you didn’t measure while mixing That’s experience for you Patricia

Face Up: EXCELLENT! Ok, so, a large amount of my clients are ladies who are now sick of colouring their grey month after month and who want to transition to going to their natural grey... (ya right). Would you suggest this application for clients who are 75% grey who are currently having their hair coloured to a level 5, 6 or 7. I’ve been transitioning from lower levels to lighter over the last few months but have said “we should probably start talking about putting highlights through to help lighten it up further.” But they are still relatively darker levels. This transition from really dark to natural grey is not easy...

Gary Harden: That is my favorite toner to use: neutral and pearl together .. or if they want white: pearl and ash

NicolE v. Martínez: Hi Jamie! You said that there wasn't any right or wrong when it comes to appy olaplex bond 2. As far as I know from their course, applying it before the color makes the cuticle close and the color last significantly less! I lf you know something that I don't, it would be cool to know it.
