Hi everyone i just wanted to do a quick video, i'm about to head to work. A lot of people have been asking me about basic training and how black females should wear their hair. How can they wear their hair, and i just wanted to give some tips and pointers on that so um for me before i went to basic, i thought about getting some braids like micros, for example, and i had to do my research on that before i went Something told me not to do it, so i didn't do it. I had a perm at the time. So when we got to basic, i noticed there were like three other girls there with micro, braids and um. You know, as that was week zero week. Zero is basically orientation. That'S the stage you get to before. You actually start basic training. So during that week they were, nobody said anything about their hair, the yo sergeants, they didn't say anything. We actually had moments in week, zero where they would check our hair, inspect our hair, for, i guess lice, and they went to those females. They didn't say anything about their braids, but then, when we were about to ship to where we were going to be doing, the rest of basic at is when it became a problem. They pulled those women aside and told them they had to take their extensions out. So they did that and they didn't have products to take care of it. You know after they took it out, so that sucked and then it sucks, because we do get to go to the store while we're at basic training. It'S a mini. It'S a little small px and um they have. They don't really have a whole lot of products for black women's hair, which sucks, i think, the brand that they have for black women is olive oil, the olive oil line, and it doesn't really do much for your hair, but that's all they had when i was In there anyway, so um that's what we used. Unfortunately, you know i still. I experienced bad breakage and basic dream because you know i went in with a perm and all i had was olive oil and then you have conditioner um trying to think what else you are allowed to wear braids. But you can't have the extensions in them. Like you can wear two strand braids where you can like break two, you know two braids to the side. You can even have cornrows. You can wear your hair natural to a certain length um. What else can you do? I mean any hairstyle. That'S in regulation is fine, but in basic training. Unfortunately, unless things have changed, you can't wear extensions. You can only have your hair all natural, they want all the females to be natural and basic. You can't even wear makeup. I tried to bring makeup in. I couldn't do it. Let me just clear this up in the regulation. When you were out of basic training, you can have extensions if they're past your collar, you have to put it in a ponytail, though i mean a button, i'm sorry you have to put it in a bun, so yeah i'm trying to think what else. I think. That'S really it um they do they do. Let you bring your own hair products. That is true, and then we also have mail calls. So you can have your family ship, you some. You know whatever hair products that you use from home whenever you're about to run out, so that's good too um so yeah, if you guys have any more questions on that. Just comment down below and uh. Don'T forget to subscribe. Of course, i'm on my way to work, you guys i'll see you on my next video. You

Kyrieee: I finished bct this past April at Jackson. We were allowed to wear box braids as long as the width of the bun was in standard. Also our px(shoppette) carried eco styler. They still don’t have a good selection of conditioner. I brought my own hair products that lasted the whole time there.

Teliah Murdaugh: Thank you for making this video, I was about to get some tiny box braids for basic training.

SpAcED_ OuT: My problem is my hair is super short and isn’t able to go into a bun

LAVONÉ: I fully thanks with the regulations however, they should provide products for our type of hair. Black Castor oil should be a must especially if they don't have conditioner. A protective hairstyle within the regulations like micro or senagle twist should also be a must... them not providing or allowing this just proves the subtle racism. Yes I said it.

Brittany Scott: Greetings to all. I am shipping out to Army Basic Training in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, on November 13 this coming Autumn. And my natural hair is so thick that I can't get it all back into a bun without leaving a lump of hair on top of my head that I couldn't get all the way back into the bun. So, what I do is part my hair in two sections. Then I part the top section into another two sections and braid them into two cornrows. Then I take the rest of the braids and make the back section into a ponytail first. Then I make two twists and pen them up into a bun and secure it with hair pins. This style gives the illusion of two cornrows being braided back into a bun. I also recycled a ratty black sock, cut the top part of it off and rolled it into a sock donut for me to use in my hair to make a bun. And then, because my hair is long, I take the extra remaining hair sticking out from the bun and make a "scrunchie." To make the scrunchie, I twist the remaining hair around the bun and secure it with hair pins. Then voila, I just made a bun with a little braid or twist wrapped around it. For my hair, I will have to get it pressed out straightened to be able to pull all my hair back into a bun easily.

Tyra Marie: And does the size of your bun matter? Because i have tapered hair and am only able to slick it back into the tiniest bun lol

It’s Dora: My hair is short so I really don’t know what to do with it

jacklyn cristo: Hi I am in hs and I will be joining the army right after hs. I have short hair but not like a buzzcut but also not enough to put up in a bun or anything I was wondering are you forced to grow our u r hair? Or can u keep it short for females

Tori Kelly Fan: Can I do mini twists are put it in a small bun with my real hair?

Lil Spooky: I have a small Afro will that affect me from bct? I just wanna make sure cornrows are allowed.

Delores Emeagi: Whoa! I've been transported back to 2007!

Tyra Marie: You can bring your own gel and bobby pins with you?

Nalani Jordan: I big chopped 4 months ago so it's not even a fro yet but it's also not buzzed short so it's a weird stage. I am thinking about dreading them. I don't think it will grow that much but I go in January and I just don't know what to do with it while I'm there because I feel like now that it's cut I have to maintain and protect it more because how I treat it now is more vital to how it will grow. so if I cant in Bootcamp then it may make it hard.

Antonette Smith: Can you have sisterlocs in basic training?

Fran W: When you say hair products, are flat irons included ? And are women allowed to get their haircut in basic?

Madison Dews: i have all of the sides of my hair shaved but the hair on top which is not long enough to go into a ponytail of its own- will that be an issue?

Lashes&Lipgloss !!: Im cutting my off Amber Rose style. I dont feel like it.

cintu lator: Only thing about military hair is just about how to don a gasmask.

Brittany Jalisa: Why are they going to make me take my box braids out? It’s in regulation AR670-1 that we ARE allowed

Lauryn Chandler: Are box braids allowed I join tomorrow ?

Destiny's Devotion: Can you wear a short curly fro?

Woah: Fuck it I'll just be bald

Donnethia Rountree: Dreads?

Alisa Brown: why did you have to put black woman u should have put female hair hairstyles ppl we rain indepents long time
