Tyler'S giving me sheep tyra said these butterfly clips are like really expensive. Oh my gosh. Did you guys just see that my hair looked amazing? Thank you and welcome back to our channel, i'm jonathan van ness, i'm the founder of jbn hair. I'M also some of these things or all of those things, depending on how you look at it, but anyway welcome back we're gon na have such a gorgeous day today, because we are reviewing 90s hairstyles they've, literally been hidden in a hidden box for years. No one's seen them not since, like the nagano games of 1998, i'm really excited we're. Gon na react. We'Re gon na have fun also like and subscribe sibu play. That means, if you please in french, i'm pretty sure. Really, we don't want you to miss our next videos. This is us taking care of you before we really rev our edges, let's think about 90s hair. For me, it's like sparkly slicked, back ponytails for the olympics with like a barrel curl. It'S also like butterfly clips. Very, like crunchy gel, oh yes, scrunchies and we love scrunchies, because fashion is a gorgeous cyclic revolving door, but it just comes back slightly judged 90s hair trends are coming back when you like, grow up in the 90s, like the 80s and 70s felt like really like Old, like the tv like you're, like oh, that was like such old green tv, but now like the 90s or the new 80s, and even like the early 2000s, are like what i'm middle aged you blink and you're 34., just saying anyway. Okay, our next is the pixie um, the pixie is hot, it actually never left like the pixie is just like always a good move like everybody should have a pixie at least once in their lives, to just feel like the sensual power of a pixie cut. I mean halle berry's pixie, cut iconic eaves iconic, also eve obsessed with eve, i'm ready for eve to have like a gorgeous comeback. The tiger paw prints so adore. This is like a subtle, frosted tip on my nonna, like a very like subtle, frosted tip, which is pretty. I love the pieciness. I love a piecy pixie not to like, but air dry cream is so amazing for people with short hair. It'S also amazing for long hair, but i love it for short hair, but i also love it for long hair, but i also love her short hair, but i actually love like every hair like because air dry cream is just like amazing, but i do love it For like a quick styling go on a pixie hair, crimped hair is everything we loved crimped hair. Although let me put on my detective glasses, is this not from 2002 or three from the press tour of america's next top model season, one which i believe was in 2003, no offense, i'm obsessed with crimped hair. It gives us texture movement there's. Also this like fierce thing that that company sebastian makes which is like this like little crimper like flat iron and you're, just like on people's roots, and then you like don't have to fat comb their roots because just like crimp them a lot. I also feel like one thing that does not need to make a comeback on miss beerus, this, like reverse ombre black tip as a colorist. I'M just already stressed. I think there might be some feathers in here. This is a busy time. I think that i like crimping, when it's like on most of the hair versus like some of the hair but britney's an icon, she's an icon, and i will not speak ill of her hair she's really going through it, i'm so lucky. That sounds like literally about her devastating frosted tips. Here'S the thing, frosted chips are just highlights. Everybody like yours, like oh frosted tips like, i think, that's like a different service. It'S just it's just highlights just like highlights, but gosh what a time these frosted tips. They were such a moment in history. Are these coming back? These aren't coming back. Are these coming back or frost? Thank god i was. We don't have to revisit frosted tips in certain parts of the country. Frosted tips have never left well lance pass. It was like. I almost i'm not often speechless, but 90s frosted tip hair colors. Do leave me at a loss for words. It also reminds me of this one time when i siphoned enough quarters from my stepdad's side table to amass like the 34 that it cost to get highlights at mastercuts. When i was like 11.. I went there with 34 of quarters with no tip because i didn't know about tips yet, and it still haunts me to this day. I bet that lady hated me, except for i, was like a really funny like cute little 11 year old and all i wanted was like blonde ringlets. So she put my hair in like six ponytails and then put all this blue bleach on my hair and then stuck me under a um dryer for like an hour and 45 minutes. And then, when i came out, my hair had melted off and then what was left was just orange and then i was like i love him. I i loved it so much because i just wanted to see any color on my hair that wasn't my own. It was a mess and then what was even more of a mess is when i got home, and my parents realized that i stole 34 in quarters to go to master cuts, because i didn't tell them where i was going. And then i came home like two hours later and they thought that i'd been like kidnapped, but really i just went and did my hair at the mall anyway who's next, the flipped out bob and we have gabrielle union and drew baron. The flippy bob is everything: flippy bobs are coming back. We love flippy bobs. This actually was like a gorgeous trend in the 90s, but i really do feel like i'm seeing more flippy gorgeous textured shortcuts, which can i just say it's fun, there's something satisfying as a hairdresser when you like this is me round brushing the hair up you're, like It'S really fun, it's very like fun obsessed with gabrielle union's flippy bob. I love drew barrymore's ketchup and mustard flippy bob. I also love the olsen twins, flippy cute pearl bobs, cute cute cutie mcutersons. Should i get a flippy bob comment below? Okay? The next is bold. Hair accessory whoa, big hair accessories, i'm obsessed, i'm just can't get enough, bring me more. I love them so iconic and i have to say, let's actually rate them in terms of like what would work now. Um, it's a little bit of a tie. I have to say i'm feeling a tie between clueless and tyra. I feel like these would really stand up to 2021, because tyler is giving me sheep. Tyra said these butterfly clips are like really expensive, britney murphy. No, let's drive to yoga. They said on the radio, and then i was like no britney and then her husband anyway. I got off track. No, that's what we do with grief. We push it away, stop looking at it. Buy two cats works every time, so hair accessories are amazing, but what's really amazing is the crisscross applesauce part on mary, kate and ashley. I love this like this gorgeous chunky texture. I cannot get enough of that again not to like let myself do much, but our air dry cream. If you just like layer a little bit more and they're, just like use a little bit more than you would normally use, then go back on your hair when it's dry a little bit. It'Ll give you that good, pc texture, we're obsessed. Okay, the next bangs feathered. Bangs. Okay: this is a trend. I am not ready for to come back. I feel that feathered bangs were really like permed bangs. It was like we were perming the fringe and then people's hair was just like cracking off because they were perming it so much so then they would have like cut their face frame really short because it was like so broken, but tiffany amber thiessen. I literally met her at this like netflix mixer this one time and i almost sh my pants and i was like don't call her kelly kapowski, don't call her kelly kapowski, don't call her kelly kapowski and then i was like hi tiffany, baby bangs. Ah um. Yes, okay, i love baby fringe depending on like how it's like utilized right, poor natalie, portman's, baby fringe isn't working. She is so pretty i'm obsessed with natalie portman, i loved her as um queen or no princess amidala. I always would steal my mom's lip gloss and then draw and a line down my face this other thick nice one is who's. This nice lady named gruffalo. What, in the truth about cats and dogs, love her baby fringe here so classic? I don't like a baby fringe. It'S too wispy, like you, want it to be like a shape like a more like a definitive shape like this gorgeous fringe, come on, come cameo on jv and hair youtube. She does her own fringe. Can you can you? Is she all up and look at look up give her a round of the applause is in we like baby fringes when done correctly. Okay, our last is undone, oh, my god. At night, when all the world is sleeping, i stay up and think about messy curls undead messy curls are back. It'S also making me want to like ditch this polish blow-dry and go like wet my hair down and put in some air dry cream and diffuse it to my heart's content. I also love julia roberts, iconic messy curls, so pretty. I also love mariah's iconic messy curls ooh mariah, these iconic messy curls. You don't let those girls come out to play too much honey, but when you do they come out to play. When i see this picture of mariah, i literally can hear. I had a vision of love remember when she goes low and she goes hi uh me hitting the high note for all this gorgeous volume you might want to get into some embody because embodies amazing. It'S going to give you the thickness and the fullness, but it doesn't dry the hair out. So we love this and also when you want to curl that can stand up to some heat if you're gon na put a diffuser to it. If you're gon na run a curling iron through it, try some instant recovery serum in there. That'S gon na help to give you a little bit of the softness, but it won't take away from the fullness. You are determined to like just devastate me today: selena but wow selena gorgeous stunning bitty bitty bumba. These curls are no. No, i'm obsessed with salinas so much. I like literally hurts like such an icon, also sidebar, the guy, who played her boyfriend in the vh1 movie. His ponytail, oh he shivered my timber, so bad he's. Okay, right diary he's fine right! I keep thinking that, like random people died that didn't die. Ah, how much do we love 90s hairstyles? That was so much fun, which one of those would you rock? Would you do the gorgeous big undone curls? Would you do some gorgeous butterfly clips? Do you do the crimps? What are you doing want to know comment below? Thank you for coming. We love you so much like subscribe. Tell all your friends. We love you check out more jb and hair stuff here and thanks for coming bye.

Jonathan Van Ness: What do you want to REACT to next!!?

Veronica Hufana: I love this, but where's the "Rachel" 'do? Janet Jackson's ringlets? Brandy's braids? MORE men hairstyles? Please do a 90s hair roundup part 2!

HopeSpeakNow: JVN makes me feel so happy, optimistic, and comforted <3 we love you, queen!

Abraham Lazer: She's always so kind and cordial but when she says "Here's the thing", you know it's coming

: Love you and this video!! Can we replace “messy” curls with “natural” curls though please? Sounds more positive for us curlies out there

Olivia: I remember having a crimper in the 90s, that had interchangeable plates! What a moment for hair... having multiple sized crimps at once. Also yes, getting two cats to push away grief does help immensely.

Zette: So glad there's a world with Jonathan in it...

Giu Alonso: Julia Roberts' 90's hair (just like Sandra Bullock's on Practical Magic) are GOALS. Just GOALS. All the rest I used too much DURING THE 90's so it's a pass for me lol

Seamoan: He says frosted tips leave him at a loss for words and then proceeds into full storytime mode

Baigalmaa Tsolmonbaatar: My hair had melted and the rest was orange. And, I was like “I love it”. Brings back a lot of childhood fashion aspirations!

themagicisinthree: I keep telling my naturally curly haired friends to embrace their Mariah Carey realness. AN ICON.

Rebecca: Came here for the 90s beauty, stayed for JVN's storytelling lol <3. Stumbled on this channel; so good.

166Anna: Hearing JVN, Jaymes, and Vanity talking about history of hair is somehow soothing and fascinating at the same time.

Brooke Crawford: I was missing seeing this channel in my feed! Recently discovered my hair has actually been curly my whole-ass life, and I just wasn’t giving it what it needed to do its thing properly. So uh… I’m gonna have to vote for the messy curl on this one

Ade M: Love this!! I want to do more ‘undone curls’, or for me it’s natural if I let my hair air dry, I think it’s very much like yours!

LizO: I'm 48 years old and for the first time I've unleashed my natural curls on the world. Why? Because they're messy! And I'm so glad that I don't care anymore - and love that JVN approves. :)

Jared Craft: Definitely need more of this

Sarabara16: This video made me feel the happiest I’ve felt in a long time!!! JVN’s energy and everything he says is life giving!

Angela Glaros: I am all about messy curls, it’s kind of my signature look. My plan is to stop coloring and go all silver when I get to 60 (in 5 years). I like to rock a medium-short curly bob and think it will look good all silver!

Jenifer Stewart: This was so entertaining! I’ve missed you! I totally rocked the feathery bangs back in the day. As Dolly always said, “The bigger the hair, the closer to God. Also, would love to see you in a little flippy bob!

Ana Quay: I have just found you on youtube and I am SO DAMN EXCITED!!!! Thank you so much for everything you have already taught me through Queer Eye, like brushing my hair from the bottom up to help de-tangle my hair! You are such a beautiful person inside and out and you have brought a lot of joy in to my life. Thank you so much for being you!

7nochannel: I recently went from waist-length to a buzz cut (gave my hair) and I am so happy I got to try it out ! It's going to be so fun trying out these pixie hairstyles.

M D: This video made my heart explode with happiness! We are all so grateful for your energy, humour and optimism! I always feel more beautiful after watching your videos! Love!!!!

Alexis Cowell: So glad I’ve stumbled upon this video! I’ve been looking for a leave in treatment that’s in an eco friendly container! The hair gods have smiled upon me today.

My Name Is: I love when your hair is all curly the mostest. Also would love you to review mullets, shaggy cuts, wolf cut trends. I had that cut in the 90s and it was my favorite, so easy to style on my messy wavy curls.

Jessica Jasper: That mastercuts story is everything.

Lissa22: JVN being distraught about Brittany is me every single time I talk about her toooo

Cyn Hanrahan: Once I stopped living with my mother and let my hair chemicals grow out, I found out I never needed a perm. I just needed a cut and styling process that let my natural, thick loopy curls out! To this day the only thing I change is how long it is. Always longish, layered enough to not weigh down the curls, and careful product selection. Though I'm seriously considering going a shade lighter than my light brown and then letting it fade out strawberry blonde like I used to. JVN, in the 90s, I had a fade undercut died purple, with the top section about cheekbone length and tweety bird yellow. I was always ahead of my time. hehehehe

Shireen Riazi Kermani: Love the air dry cram! It even works on my fine but frizzy hair. Also, I need a short of JVN’s reaction about Brittany Murphy because that is all of us

Alex Torres: When I look back on pictures of my mom in the 90's all I see is: deep brown or black lip liner, with a pastel nude in the middle...no blending. Paired with long hair with a huge perm, that's puffed over to the side. And they all had a plaid shirt that was buttoned all the up to the collar. 90's chola styles were the best.

Markie B: I was reading an article recently that fashion has now a shorter time loop than it used to... and we are definitely feeling it. I just find it bizarre going to Walmart and seeing Nickelodeon shirts. To me... it's not that I've been there, done that. It's just not retro to me. LOL But I love that butterfly clips and barrettes are now a thing. I'm just waiting for the early 2000's ponchos to come back because I missed that in high school.

Elizabeth Gaines: Yes flippy bob! Gwen Stefani's platinum and pink one inspired me to get one back in the day and I couldn't style it to save my life, but the fantasy was there in my mind LOL

Brittany Gayle: I have that air dry cream and it has helped my waves curl in the most beautiful way! the conditioner has given my hair some push to finally grow! I'm closing the gap with my biggest insecurity, finally

Anna Barr: I love this video!! It and me laugh and smile <3

Melanie Kopka: This short sequence right after you said “i just went and did my hair in the mall” - your face that you made there - really made my day! Love it.

Rosani Lebron: I can't believe you didn't talked about...THE RACHEL!!! I didn't liked it at all, but so many people were having it.

Jessica Smith: Yes please to a floppy bob. You can rock anything and I think you would take it to the level it needs! Your so gorgeous, JVN ✨

Nya Smith: Feathered bangs with a flippy bob I had a Sunday school teacher with that haircut and she looked so sweet. She’s my own icon lol Also, huge fan of baby bangs with long hair styled in a 40s/50s way. Omg

Melisserr: That was Janeane Garofalo's hair in Reality Bites! She looked so awesome :)

Lori Bedient: You should absolutely get a flippy bob! You have such great bone structure and have the perfect personality for it! ❤ JVN so much.

Sarah Russack: Every time I watch one of Jonathan’s videos where he mentioned his product line I get sooooo depressed because they aren’t available in Australia and I cant order them from the US yet . I just want lush JVN hair!

E RS: I LOVE JONATHAN SO MUCH I could easy him react to pretty much anything.

Claudia Rivera: Your hair is giving everything it needs to give and extra credit! Love it on you

Its me Sean Tee: Love! Hair looking lush and yes to the floppy bob!!

Sarah Fagan: I would just love messy curls! I as yet don't know how to make that happen with my mostly straight hair, so I've been watching JVN and other videos trying to learn :)

Busara Firestone: Jonathan, you make me cry-laugh every time!!! Love you!!!

Tracy Kinnally: Can we get a tutorial on big messy curls? Also on dry styling in general with JVN products. (I feel like I am using air dry cream incorrectly.)

Aldrin Smithson: Jonathan I am so excited to try out your products I just submitted my first order love you girl!

Amy D: You're so funny Jonathan! For today I would do the flippy bob and the messy curls. I've already done the pixie and loved it. But growing my hair out now. Does anyone else remember the circular headband that has a bunch of spikes? You flip your hair over, put the headband around your neck, then push it up into place around your head, flip your head over, and bam! So much volume and texture!

Sarah S: hey Jonathan van ness you will always be a queen to me.

Leanne Bale: I would love those messy curls also always up for a butterfly clip ❤️

callewag: Jonathan, your hair does look absolutely amazing here!

Niki Hart: I loved my floppy bob so much! Kinda thinking I might wanna do it again…

April Perrault: I agree with baby fringes. They can look great, when done right.

Julie Thorn: I was ALL about the hair clips. I’m pretty sure I had some dragonfly clips, definitely had butterfly clips and for prom, my hair was way past my shoulders, I did ringlet curls with a 1/2” curling iron and rocked some tiny paper roses stuck in some tight twists (wannabe corn rows), circa ‘98. Good times.

Meagan Dragon: I was so happy when he approved messy curls because I’ve been locked in those since the 90s

Joseling Castro: JVN did you call the Selena movie the “VH1 movie”?! Lmao! But yes, Selena was queen of the 90s styles! Love her!

Hayley Arnold: Love you so much! Also, had NO clue you’re a year older than me because I always loved watching you throughout the years!!! You’re awesome - Happy Holidays!

Berenice Dorantes: Only an ICON could pull off that level of shameless plug! I love this!!!

Tina Bauer: You never disappoint. Love your spirit❤️

Brenda Umana: I am dying!!!! I can't stop laughing. This was amazing! The last bit about Selena and the guy that played her boyfriend...YAAAAASSSS! My 9-year-old self feels so seen.

Ramatoulie Bo: Okay we are 34 but not middle aged ...yet.

Chris D: This was fun. I feel you should of definitely mentioned Courtney Cox micro fringe in Scream 3 although that could have been a 00s moment. Omg if you do 00s next, lindsay lohan chunky blonde stripes in Freaky Friday à la myspace hair, and like every blonde celebrity that had chunky red or black or both added into their hair ♥️

Ana Lucia Ceccon: WE WANT MORE VIDEOS LIKE THIS!! love youuu JVN

Carmen North: So frickin cute :) I love flippy bobs and big hair accessories! Those are my faves.

Jenny Wiltse: JVNs hair looks SO GOOD in this video ❤️❤️❤️.

Chuckles Sutton: I just woke up to this with my morning coffee. It’s going to be a good day, thank god there’s a JVN channel‍♂️❤️

Hayley Arnold: “That’s what we do with grief, we push it away, buy two cats, works every time” **omg I’m rolling**

Claire Willow: My son has naturally messy big girls. So gorgeous

Carolyn McCulloh: Love this so much!! Do more!!

javi_15: "The 90's are the new 80's" I FEEL YOU!! And why are some things coming back, I was so happy to leave some trends behind

Aura: I need the Y2K early 2000s Anna Nicole tendril tease updo fantasy next~~

Kimon Matara: Jonathan is a one-man antidote to internalised homophobia. Love him

Hanne Clausen: thank you for calling them out on the Tyra early 2000's crimped photo. that was NOT 90's! it was totally early 2000s top model season 2!

Hollyanne : Just discovered you and I LOVE YOUUUUU youre great, you make me happy and look great, the blue polo suits you a lot !

Freckled One: Loved this post!! Thank you JVN and Team!! <3

legalisefreedom: Love messy curls!

Jessica Sharpe: I loved the flippy bob as a kid. Favorite hairstyle. But bc my hair was so fine and curly/frizzy it didn’t hold.

Night: Loving that sweater on you And the fabulous hair! ❤️

Mithrandiir94: Your look in this video is GORGEOUS!!

Kristy Desilets: Do I still have my crimper from the 90s? Yes! Fourth grade picture day (1991?) was the first year I was allowed to choose my clothes and hairstyle and I DEFINITELY crimped it!!! But not the whole thing... just little hair sections that I pulled back into barrettes. I felt so cool.

Caroline A: YES TO YOU IN A FLIPPY BOB, we need it!!

Yoko Yo: This video is just all I wanted in my life, thank u so much for being such an Icon

Sara Federbush: Going straight from "Buy 2 cats it you want to avoid your grief" to a picture of the Olsen Twins made me cackle!!!!

Sana Hasnain: I still have a few butterfly clips from the 90’s I saved them for this very time when they make a comeback… I knew they would come back … Also just saw them at target last night

timingmile: I dunno what is more beautiful, the blue turtle neck or JVN's shiny hair

dr rd: I used to crimped my hair, why can't we bring that back? I loved it.

Vanessa S: I swear Hilary duff in Lizzie McGuire always had the forest hair accessories. Like every episode was a different hairstyle and accessory. I remember looking like I wish I could do different styles to my hair too!

Zoe Roscoe: Used to have a pixie for about 20 years, but my face is too fat now, I resemble a smiley emoji . Now I wear it short over the ear on one side, full fringe and chin length layer bob on the other.

Alondra Cabiedes: You look great in any hair style I thought I could never recognize you without your iconic mustache but it was the bubbly personality and kindness I would like to see you in a cute flippy bob though

miaaa h: lets just say the 90s were something of its own league

20newleigh: I still wear my preteen late 90s barrettes and clips and my hair will forever be in messy curls, cuz that’s just me. In 2016 I brought back Betty page fringe and loved it, but my messy curls are still my thing.

J P: This is making me want to rewatch Jaime French's iconic "If Beauty YouTubers Existed in 1999"

Karla Anitasdottir: Yes Jonathan, "s'il vous plaît" means "please". You can also say "s'il te plaît" when you're talking to someone you know (friends, family, coworkers, lover). Gros câlin ! (Love from France)

Arely Holman: This video is so funnyJVN definitely a comedian

Erica: Messy curls and pixies will rock forever!! Timelessly Iconic! Also agree with JVN on Brittany Murphy and Selena - so devastating ❤❤

Peek-a-Boo: Ya I had the messy curls ...long messy curls with fringe in the 90's to 2000's. It was achieved by spiral perms. (when they knew what they were doing). Love love loved it accept when hair dressers convinced me that they gave good perms only to be fried and leave looking instead like a walking talking brillo pad and a few hundred dollars less in my checking account only to have to brave the drug store to purchase a perm and reverse it myself at home. Those were the days. It was a crap shoot. I would love to have those curls again if someone only knew how to give a good perm. Sadly have a phobia of hair dressers now.

haty2008: i can't believe they didn't mention Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers from scream for the baby Fringe cause that was iconic

S Lynn Riley: I’ve been rocking my messy curls since high school bc of showchoir. I didn’t know they were ever out… But I guess I’m too lazy to care

louiegraphy • skincare with louie: yes, your hair looks amazing!!
