What'S going on YouTube Stephen, a salon guy here and in today's video I'm going to be talking about calyx or swirls? Now I did a video in the past on swirls or calyx on the back of the head, how to fix them, but I've gotten. So many questions from people saying I have one in the very very front. What do I do now? This is gon na, be hopefully very, very helpful for you guys and in this mannequin right here. What I've done is I've actually tried to create one before hand, which is basically, like you know, an arch right. So any time you see a kalak or something or or swirl what that does is just actually causing the hair to kind of circle around this way or grow in a direction. And then it suddenly changes form. So it grows upwards and then comes right back down and it's a very challenging thing. So there's a couple of tips and suggestions you can do to help alleviate that all right. So if you look closely here, we can see is a little bit of an arch. Alright, so if you naturally have this, it means that, no matter what you do, your hair is always going to do this. So in order to fix it, you need to actually change up and almost trick your hair and make it do something. Yet it's not normally doing, and that could be done in a few different methods. So I would suggest you know if your hair is dry, you can do it when it's dry or you'd have to wet your hair down to recreate something. So, let's start with wetting the hair down here and I'll. Show you a few cool tips if you are in a rush, and you don't want to spend too much time on drying all your hair and you just you know you really want to focus on this front area. What you can do is literally just wet down the area right in front where the Kalakaar swirl is and not have to wet your whole head and redo the whole thing. So what I've done right now is I spray this down right through here, where the swirl would be, and I'm just gon na give it a nice comb through so we're gon na need a blow. Dryer doesn't matter which blow dryer. You have a round brush like this, or you can use some sort of vent brush now, as I mentioned before, what you need to do is create the hair pattern to do the opposite of what it's currently doing, so this Rolle is making your hair go up And then around this way you need to actually blow-dry it and set it to do the opposite. So what I'm going to do is say the callicles over this way, I'm actually going to use this brush and I'm going to flat wrap the hair. So it's going in the opposite direction of how it's naturally growing all right. So once the hair is starting to dry a little bit, then I would suggest taking the event brush like this, and now we're going to create some sort of smoothing techniques and we're gon na actually start to style the hair and shape the hair. So what I'm doing is I'm locking it in I'm gon na start to blow-dry it in so I'm locking it taking the blow-dryer and brushing down this way and what that's doing is actually starting to set the hair, because heat really is what sets the hair everyone's Afraid of Oh heat is gon na damage, my hair, but think of when you're ironing a shirt. You can't really iron a shirt and get the wrinkles out with no heat. You need that heat. It'S the same thing with blow-drying and the way to prevent damage is to not sit there like this, for you know, 20 seconds with the heat on the hair shaft cuz. That is what damages hair not doing this. This isn't going to damage the hair alright. So what I'm doing is I'm locking in turning it and the nozzle, the nozzle and the brush have to be working in sync. That'S what's really important. Is that the nozzle, if you aren't using a nozzle guys, that's what this is? It'S the the attachable piece that comes off of the dryer, the nozzle and the blow, and the brush have to be working in sync. If you're, not using one of these, the hair is going to blow all over the place and this helps focus the direction of that of the air. So you want to make sure that you have this locked in and you bring the hair forward now. What'S really important is that you do emphasize the area of where the calloc is so again. If it's right here, you really need to lock in that hair and you manipulate the hair so you're almost creating the opposite, swirl right, you're blow-drying it in the other direction. So that you're fighting against it, okay and that's really really gon na be helpful. Now, if you were to use a round brush like this, what I would suggest is again lock it in, and I would then use the blow dryer and the nozzle, and I would just keep turning my wrists and using the heat and the brush to kind of Smooth it out, so I'm just going to take some product, which is my new hustle product, which is a grooming clay. I'M gon na work it through my hands - and this is a very, very fast easy to use product we're gon na slick. This all back like this and, as you can see now, we've styled it in seconds and look what we've created. We'Ve created a totally different shape. We don't have the swirl anymore and it's easy to manage and easy to style and there we have it within seconds. So if you have a widow's peak right or if the hair kind of comes down to a V right in through here or it's a bit low or if you have a low hairline, what you could do is I don't really suggest doing this right. I don't suggest doing this, but you could shave your hairline right and get what they call a lineup all right or create your own, a different type of hairline, and what that does is it actually gets rid of the growth pattern right there you'd have to shave. It down you'd have to really get rid of it, use a straight razor to clean it up, and that would help alleviate any sort of calyx or any sort of weird growth patterns on the front. The only disadvantage to that literally is that you're gon na be getting your hair done. You'Re gon na have to do it pretty much weekly because you're going to start to see the hair coming in and it's just gon na it's gon na look like a five o'clock shadow within a couple days. I really don't suggest doing that getting rid of the hairline or pushing it back at all, just because it creates it's very high maintenance and it looks very unnatural right. It'S it's. If you have a specific hair type or you know some. That really is there's a demand for that then fine do it, but if you don't have that hair type and you don't want to have such high maintenance, I really don't suggest doing it because literally you know, but it. But if you are desperate and you hate, it then create your own new hair line. I would only trust a barber and i would not trust a bald barber or hairstylist. Don'T trust those guys kidding kidding, but i would i would definitely find somebody who is used to doing that type of work that type of service, and you just have to be committed to it. You know again, i don't really recommend it, but if you need to do it then definitely check it out. So i hope this video was helpful to you guys as far as the understanding how to fix kind of a calico or swirl in the front. It all comes down to blow-drying it in the opposite way of where the kalloch is going right, flat, wrapping it blow-drying it really working it the other way and that's gon na help, you guys. So hopefully you found this video helpful, don't forget to Like comment and subscribe. Thank you guys. So much for watching and I'll see you next time for more videos with the salon.

Janno J: "I guide others to a treasure I cannot posess."

Jacob Salgado: Damn, it’s almost 2020 and I’m over here getting hair guides from a bald dude

Hoko Maha: that mannequins hair is better than mine

NSS Productions.: I just wanted to say what an absolute lifesaver of a video this is. I have a terrible terrible cowlick at the front of my hair combined with frizzy hair which makes 3/4 of my hair look good and the remaining frizzy spiral look absolutely horrible. Even though it's not a permanent fix, this tutorial is amazing

Jorge Valdes: I have a theory the manekin’s hair is actually this guy’s glorious hair that he shaves to provide us with this beautiful content

Adrienne Redmond: I thoroughly enjoy all of your haircuts! They are very precise and excellent! Thank you for sharing your expertise! Keep them coming and I will be watching. Thank you.

Daniel Bautista: Cowlicks are so frustrating to work with especially mine.. I have them all over my hair lol this is very helpful thank you!

Antotiz: I entered this video out of curiosity (I did not know what the title was referring to) but now it is going to save my life and solve an annoying problem that I have been dealing with. I love you Mr. Bald ❤️

Lukas Becker: What should I do if the cowlick is in the front and I want a middle part, do you still do the same thing and style it after correcting the cowlick?

Raven Wong: My hair is naturally like that in the end of the video, too much volume on one side and really flat on the other side lmao

iBloodThirsty808: Damn I just searched for this kind of vid then this guy has a full on detailed tutorial. You’re the man

sock toast: Me: Can I have bangs please? My cowlick: No❤

CLE 216: RULE OF THUMB Always part out of the front side/corner of the cowlick. It slightly sits naturally back anyways in the corner and looks more natural. Otherwise, if you part out of the opposite side it looks like it sits back too far on the cowlick sits and doesn't look natural. On your front hairline always follow the way your hair already is going, especially if it's shorter. It's a war that very difficult to win. Haha

ricardo espiritu: This was extremely useful, thanks a lot.

Ernesto Martinez: NEVER cut a widows peak. Grow it out and style it with the rest of your hair. Looks natural.

Zetsuke4: I just use an eyebrow razor to just swipe off my hairline in the top front, one two three four quick swoosh and it's a straight hairline without the triangle. I do this every few days, quick and easy maintanence for me I just do it precisely so it doesnt go too far up

freddie_nyx: I have distinctive cowlicks on BOTH sides of my part (off center part, you can still see both). I have tried a multitude of techniques but the general consensus is: me + bangs = never gonna happen lol. And I tried SO HARD for a couple years!!!

Michael Vargas: Never knew that's what it was called, I have one on the right corner of my hairline

Nana Martin: Great tips! I would suggest doing some of your vids with real models. Mannequin hair is often a lot easier to manipulate, especially when talking about cowlicks and such. A real cowlick would've added more value to this vid imo.

Elizabeth Rose: What you just did . Thank you . This is what I do. Until humidity hits. Mine cowlick grows left. I have to have long bangs and it stays down pretty well. The one in my crown I will never have short hair. I would look like Dennis the menace.

HumanBanjo31665: I have a middle part and i have the cow lick on both sides and that’s literally my hair style

Monica Kim: Excellent tip! Thanks so much!

APS DrThePeep: You can also put forming gel on your head and comb it in forward or to the opposite side and when you get out the shower do a 10 minute comb over

Dakota Stevenson: As a dude with the exact cowlick problem this guy is referencing, no styling or blow drying ever works. The only time I can switch the direction is by having my hair so long that the weight of it keeps it where I want it. is there a hair style that just works with the cowlicks instead?

Edison Damascus: My hair so too resistant and springy so it’s impossible for me to get rid of the cowlick in the front

Ferd: For a woman with straight hair (who wants the hair to go down, not up like that) I’m not sure how I can keep applying heat without causing some damage to my hair (specially baby hairs), all I need is for the very front layers it to go slightly to the center of my face.. so it sits like curtains. I use a tiny flat iron. I had bangs for most of my life but now I have a middle part. I’m considering doing some sort of overnight clipped thing.. I’m really frustrated.. :(

frdrcksncn: what if the part/split is more to the side? Does it have the same effect?

:: isabelle ::: There is like a kink in the front of my hair so I do a side parting but I really just want to do a middle parting but whenever I tie my hair up it looks stupid and if I try straighten it it’s still there.

Jovan Belegisanin: I have wavy/curly hair that's pretty fine, is there any way of doing this without all the brushing?

Danish Khan: Hi, doing the same on regular basis as you shown in this video. Does it will help to get rid off from that cowlicks or swirls on the front?

Scott Miller: You really helped me!

Nightcore Darkness: I dont care if i cant fix that problem. All i want is to have that hair.

arbitrary: Hi TheSalonGuy. I have a question. Half of my hair (literally if you part it down the middle), the right side is straight but the left side waves/curls at the end and I wanted to know if theres any way to fix that if I dont have a flat iron? My hair, when pulled down, goes over my eyes, and I have an undercut kinda hair/asian two block haircut. The sides are shaved but the top is long all around and left to be hanging. The hair that falls on the sides touch my ears. How can I make everything straight? I cried once because I was having so much trouble trying to fix it.

Zenysty: I Have Cowlicks on the right side, when I went to shower earlier I put the hair that has cowlicks in the opposite direction when I put conditioner and also after I comb. IT DID WORK, but it switches position lmao. I now have cowlicks on the left side and the right side has been fixed tho. It's straight.

Linda R.: I have a widows peak, low hairline AND a cowlick in front, so thanks for addressing that.

Stella: Can you train the hair to "forget" the cowlick and grow flat? edit: Like is it possible to change the growth pattern?

OySs: I have a cowlick only on my left side of the hair. I actually maybe like the side with the cowlick more. Why is this and how do I get a cowlick on the other side of my hair.

max maun: Please help me, I’ve got curtains and in my right side it arches to the right and down What do I do?

alap angie: Great tips. I do not recomend line ups to most people, maybe a light clean up

Vitaly: Hi I have a crop top fade and I try to comb my hair forward and make it look lined up but I have a cowlick right a my hairline. My hair is too short to do this method. Is there a way I can fix it still?

John Hafner: What the hell I didn’t know this was a common thing lmao. I have one that I call a “double cowlick” or natural mid-part dead center as well as flat hair and I thought I was a rare case, born with shitty hairglad to see there’s some options

zuriel lopez: 6:51 hes betraying his own kind

Awesome Al: My 9 month old has a wicked front cowlick and I've never dealt with it before. The back half of his hair goes one way, but the cowlick at the front needs to go the other way. I'm a bit confused for the poor boy hahah but there's no way I'm doing this daily! I love the look of cowlicks though, I always wished I had one!

Namaste Senpai: Wow i was looking for this kind of video for about 2 and half years now, as i struggle from this problem. An suddenly YouTube miriclely recommend this in my feed. I am so blessed up right now

Gillian Osterberg: i have this. It makes me so insecure. I just got bangs and it looks weird and only goes to the right. It absolutely won’t go the other direction even with heat, hairspray, training, anything. i Don’t know what to do about it but it makes me so insecure

James: As I’m someone with a cowlick on the front of my head. No matter how much blow drying, water, combing, product nothing works

helmut erik rønnow rosendal: i have like 4-5 swirls in my hair and it's so frustrading i can't get any of the haircuts i want so i always buzz it but that just looks terrible i can't pull it off lol wish i could have a middle part cut /:

Sanjiv Madhavan: If it grows in a certain way, it's meant to grow that certain way. There's no "tricking" your hair.

Munakata Reishi: This is my hair rn. Easy to style . But the difference is i dont use blow dryer. All i need is water, hair brush and hair product.

sin nombre: If I shaved my hairline past my double cowlicks, I’d be wearing a Mohawk. I say don’t do it!

Bryan Martinez: The only way I got rid of mines was doing waves and changing my hair pattern

Owen Holland: I have a super big forehead, and a cowlick in the upper right part of my front hairline. I try to style my hair good to cover up my acne scars. Nothing looks good for me! What should I do?

Tracy -*-: I have a hair dryer that didn't come with that attachment on the end. What do I do in that case?

smug: dude I pulled up to the barber and said "give me that eboy look cuz" and I wasn't disappointed

Moth's Mummy: Wetting a cowlick and blowdrying it, does not work. 10 minutes after you have left the hair salon, your cowlick has bounced back up again.

Legend-Qixing: Help please. I used to get a skin fade so the top of my hair is 6-7 months of growth. I got a undercut so the under part is a little longer. I wanna grow it all out but won’t it be un even if I grow it and look stupid ? How do I fix this v

Alfred Rimorin: I look this as either my asset during good hair day or a curse during bad hair day

Austin Powers: How long does this fix it for

Enrich: the cowlick i have is unchangeable! I'm a girl having a cowlick at the front :(( I've do everything to get rid of it but it's still here

maartn59: Do I have to do this one time or every morning ?

Today 75B: One thing I do, I braid my bang area down in front of my forehead while it's wet, the hope is to help my cowlick to tame itself.

BestInTheWorld: Anybody know what its called when you have hair growing where your hairline is suppose to be? Like think of your harline and imagine in the middle its normal but on the two other sides hair grows.

JTV Studios: Sir i have a question, i wanna get a natural middlepart, but i also want it to be.. you know, I don't want it messy because i always go out and whenever strong winds hits my hair, my hairstyle gets messy. So, how do i get that natural middlepart but at the same time, can be fixed by just using my hand, you know? Hehe

heather neveu: Any tips for a front cowlick on toddlers? My 1.5 year old won’t sit for something like this but I have no idea how to style it or what kind of cut to get him

meme_debate1: This helped me so much

rinranhai: omg tysm for this,, im a female and I got my hair cut short and the swirls we frustrating me so muc

Cameron B: So I have some thinning/balding in the front and it’s like a reverse widows peak. Any thoughts on hair styles? Short/long hair?

KonoEra TV: But there comes the air It'll ruin my hair

meme boi: Dang my hair is so ugly, even YouTube is recommending me this video so I can fix it

Brandon Cavazos: I have a cowlick that is on the left side of my hairline and it pushes my hair down. Makes me look like i have bangs or something.

ATHUL MANOHAR: Hey! I really need your help, I have hairs that are so thick that I can't comb it anyway. It never really sets. I've tried using hair wax but nothing really helped

Conor Kelly: I have the same problem. If I shave my hair and try turn it into a fringe can that work??

Ady Kotidou: What if I wet my hair, comb it the way I want it and then let it air-dry in that position? Would this work or do I have to use a blow dryer?

Lily Depi: Is there any straightening cream that can make the hair go straight at the roots?

Ho0dieEBK: It goes straight up and now there’s a big gap in my hairline

jazz k: I have never seen a video so useful

venz isaiah: I love the first style of hair any tutorial of that?

Captain: ok but what if your hair in the front is too short to brush it like this? just wondering if there’s anything i can do bc i’m 3 months growing out a buzz cut and the front of my hair looks so bad & im suffering

RebelKayrae: I JUST DID IT WITH DRY HAIR WITH MY FINGERS
