Hello friends, I want to welcome you back to my channel and thank you for tuning in with me, as you guys know, I'm an optimizer and I absolutely love fixing hair. So I brought my model andy in today and I want to point out a couple of common traits that I see when I get new clients walking through the door. So let me point them out because again in men's hair, these are a lot of common things that I see number one. Is that there's a perimeter through the back? This is really common. It looks to me like they came in, they cut the haircut and then they went back in and cut a perimeter through this bottom area. What that does is it creates weight and we want to eliminate weight in men's haircuts. We don't really work in perimeters, so the idea is, is we would just bring it out vertically and then leave it or kind of come in and soften it. But we don't want to cut any horizontal lines in because you can see through the bottom here that there's weight through the bottom and again we're trying to eliminate that another thing cutting in that perimeter is that it started to round out this way, because this hair, In through here is cut really short that creates a roundness this way, it also creates around us through the bottom because of the perimeter and through here is a little bit flatter, which tends to be a little more masculine, which is what we're aiming for in men's. Haircutting, we want to work more on angles than we do on the roundness of the head, how we get around that is by taking this hair completely vertically. This way to eliminate some of this weight and through here, but not taking it up this way, which is gon na, follow the round of the head and create around this in men's hair. We typically want to work on the interior of the shape, leaving the perimeter towards the end and really not touching too much of it. If the interior shape is correct, we usually don't have to touch the perimeter too much. The lengths that I'm gon na go is I'm not gon na see any skin. I'M gon na use my shear first, I'm gon na come back in and use my clipper and here's the reality. I can use any tool that I want, but I want you guys to start thinking and design and design is really what's important because at the end of the day, no, what tool I use the clients gon na, like the haircut or not, and that's really about Design, that's not about tool so start thinking in design and whether your cosmetologist or a barber you're. Probably the transition area is usually the toughest spot for both people that transition areas so watch my transition area, because that becomes really important into play. It also becomes really important in masculine shapes to keep it really. I hate to say square but angular okay. So if you have any questions, just write them down in the comment box and I'll try and answer them for you. You

Megan C.T.: For anyone on the fence... I followed this tutorial for my husband’s wavy/curly hair—it’s fine hair but he’s got a ton of it. He’s never been happy with the haircuts he’s gotten but this vertical cut method turned out awesome and we both love it! And I’m not by any means skilled; never cut hair until the quarantine lol. Thank you soo much!!

Angela Kwa: This looks amazing. Just a couple of questions for someone who is attempting to cut her husband's hair for the first time! 1) For the sides and back, do you keep your fingers vertical or is there a slight slant? 2) What are you looking for that you are fixing with the clippers around the sides and back? 3) Again for the top, are you keeping your fingers vertical?

Genevieve St. Charles: Omg, I just used this vid to cut my husbands hair and it turned out SO GOOD!!!!! Thank you!!!! Quarantine hair, BEGONE

Anna Elizondo: I’m giving my 17 year old grandson a haircut today, and this is the technique I’m going to use. It’s exactly what I was looking for to cut the top part. Thanks for sharing

Naquib Irfan: Is it just me or the way she separates the hair is just satisfying

Kiki’s Hair Shop: Beautiful work!

Kelly Tarling: I've used this video to cut my boyfriend's hair every few weeks since the beginning of the quarantine and now he doesn't want anyone else to cut his hair. I have no prior experience/ training and messed up my own hair trying to cut it following appropriate videos for DIY women's haircuts- I wish there was a tutorial this awesome for myself!

Helen W: Amazing. You make it look so easy! I think we have all really missed our hairdressers making us look and feel better, during the covid19 lockdown. But thanks for your hair cutting tutorials during this time. I certainly have learnt a lot!

Sandy: Thank you for this. Hubby has been getting me to trim his hair since covid. I was really hesitant at first. Started just trimming the length and he was fine with that. As his sides grew in more I needed to get more creative. I begged him to just go to the barber but he didn't feel comfortable yet. So I did my best, it came out okay. (He always had a medium shaggy look so it was forgiving). I have since watched a few tips, this time did the vertical cutting like you did here but the video I watched only showed them doing one side. I thought I had to start at the front on his opposite side and work my way to the back to meet up with what I had done on the other side. Ended up with a weird V-shape at the middle back...didn't help that the sharpest scissors I had were my sewing scissors lol. Fussed with it a bit and got it looking Okay. Your video made much more sense. Actually ordered in clippers / proper scissors for next time. So funny I was so scared to mess it up, and now I can't wait to try it again.

sonny TASNEE: thanks... I've always wanted this haircut since when i was 17 but no barber able to do it... now Im 46 and bald.. just enjoying watching.. superb talent..

Marilyn K.: Beautiful job!! This is the 2nd of Amanda's videos I've watched, and I think I'm getting her technique so as to attempt cutting my husband's hair, even though he doesn't have as much hair as or her models and a thin spot on top-back. Still, this will help tremendously (during Covid!). Amanda's way with the clippers is truly amazing too!! I only wish I lived in Minneapolis so she could attempt my fine, fine mess!

kathryn w: My boyfriend was 5 months overdue on a cut and with Covid-19, there was no way he was getting a pro cut anytime soon. I finally convinced him to let me cut it and this tutorial saved my life! Turned out great and he wants me to cut it from now on. Said it was better than most of his $40 hair cuts!

Christian Truss: I just completed my second week of barber collage but I have a desire to be well rounded when it comes to utilizing preferred barber techniques and preferred cosmo techniques. This video is a great tutorial in helping me to establish compentency with utilizing sheer and comb. Thank you so much! You are AMAZING !

Z W: Hi Amanda, Thank you so much for the easy to follow step by step tutorial. You are a fabulous hairstylist! Keep up the great work! Take care during this unprecedented time.

Chad Graber: Thank God. Not another garbage "modern" skin fade. Elegant. Classic. Timeless. Very well done.

Liz M: Thank you so, so much for making this video! Like many others who have commented, I had to cut my husband's hair during quarantine and your instructions saved the day!

P T: Wow! This is perfection! Thank you for not fast-forwarding the video- this was helpful =)

Cory Swank-Wallace: Thank you for the informative video! I decided in late 2018 to teach myself how to cut my hair and my boyfriend's hair because we never felt we got what we wanted when we paid for a cut. This is still my go to tutorial that I rewatch every single time I'm preparing for his haircut. This is his preferred style. If I don't nail it, it's usually because I didn't section very well. Most of the time, it turns out great and my boyfriend is happy with it, which is all that matters. Of course, it usually takes me about an hour because my fingers don't want to clamp the hair and sometimes I have trouble seeing my guide and have to re-section and re-clamp until I find it. I'm no pro by a longshot, but this video gives me all the information and techniques I've needed to maintain his hair for 3 years now. We really appreciate you!

Pam P.: Ending up giving my brother the same cut and it turned it out pretty well! It was my first time cutting a guy's hair. It was also my first time using a clipper, and I recommend not getting too carried away lol.

Nurishani Adnan: I really really love watching ur vids!! They are seriously therapeutic & i love it when urs are actually less talking compared to other videos ive watched. U let us enjoy the way u show ur “arts” in peace with calming background music too hehe. Keep it up & pls do more videos!! A new fan here is excited to keep updated ♥️

Ahad Ali: That was the cleanest most symmetrical haircut I've ever seen in my entire life.

Arti K: This video was very helpful! I followed the steps and my first time medium length men's haircut at home came out pretty good Thanks!

Olga Kalyniak: Absolutely fabulous haircut. I have been cutting my husbands hair this way since Covid began and he refused to go to a barber (plus they were all closed). He likes the haircuts I give him so much, he says he never wants to go back to a barber again! Thanks for the great instruction...your technique is just amazing!

Danilo Biccari: Super clean and super satisfying cut to watch. So controlled. So pleasing. Well done, and thanks for sharing!

simplyvirtuoso: Very useful during lockdown! Many thanks to you both ✨

noel velasco: WOW!!!!!! This is the kind of haircut I love to have. Great job. I will try to do this myself :)

massrunner: What a transformation! Beautiful cut and smooth techniques. Thanks for posting this.

Vivian Anderson: Love this haircut! Amazing job, amazing tutorial, well done! Thank you

Susan: Thank you so much for this wonderful video! I followed it step by step and cut my husbands hair which was similarly long like the models and it came it out so nice. I may be cutting it from now on. He likes this style. Thank you so much for sharing your techniques.

Silvana Maia: Ficou maravilhoso.

SolShamSa: O melhor vídeo para cortar os cabelos masculinos Comecei a cortar o cabelo do meu filho de 2 anos assistindo esse vídeo!! E ele tem cabelo cacheado!! Fica lindo maravilhoso thanks

Chris Banzet: I've been cutting my own hair since I was 19. The early one style I adopted was to follow a more roundish approach. I definitely like the way she "explained it" before doing it and even told you where to watch. I also like the GREAT explanation of the back! You just solved one hell of a problem for me.. :) It would be great to see a hair cut video where you showed guys with a little thinning what are the more favorable lengths, how to properly cut for most body as well as most capable of having good scalp coverage, but also enough left to show styling patterns on the top most layers. Last, I always see barbers/stylists cut models' hair that have a perfect neckline. I'd love to see you do some necklines that have seriously terrible cowlicks, and also ones like mine, where they didn't quite grow hair down at that level and are probably a complete inch to inch and a half higher, which if you try any kind of clean squaring off look at all, it is too high and just looks bad. But if you do any type of fade at all, you can't leave that area longer. ;) Thanks!

KG: This video is so helpful! It really helps me cut my son's hair and he always gets compliments that it looks "profesh"! Thanks for sharing!

wendy: I've followed this tutorial twice on husband's hair and it came very nicely considering I've never cut hair before. Thank you so much for making it easy.

Jael Young: This is the only video I found that helped me cut my 16 year-old son's hair on my own. The video is continuous and well-paced.

Ell Ess: Just cut my hubby's hair for the 3rd time since lockdown using this video again. Turned out great! He loves it. I wish you could have seen his smile! Thanks so much!

Eric Booth: I’ve watched this video over and over. Can’t get enough of it. Great job Amanda!

Polar Bear: My wife cut mine several times now , excellent every time This video has prevented many men from bad hair during the pandemic

Lorraine Spain: This is THE BEST haircut demonstration on Youtube. Thank you for posting this. I did it this morning on my boyfriend's head. His hair is straight and thinning on top--the hardest to cut. After it was done he confessed his backup plan; a brush cut with clippers. I looks vey good. Your theory before the video was the best way to tell us.

Luce Z: Just amazing job you did there. This is a very simple tutorial to watch and I will be using it to cut friends hair today. Superb hairstyle, very smart and elegant :) Thanks a bunch for sharing.

NurtureLove88: I just love the way she did this. Need more hair stylists like her.

Alexandra Gerbel: Today I did the same technique on the hair of a friend. No hairdresser is open right now and his hair was super long. It was my first attempt to cut someone's hair and it turned out great! Thanks to you!

anne chou: Very nice and clear video! Thank you! The model looks great after the hair cut!

Vivian Pinto: Great technique and also great haircut for her! I'd like to have that haircut for my curly hair

Muhammad Alif: The technique is way beyond! Perfect medium cut I’ve ever seen in life. Seen it couple times and still satisfying to see again and again. Some Dresser btw, when they are cutting men’s hair with clippers, they mostly butchered the hair. That’s what makes me afraid when they start using the clippers at the very beginning of the cut, it’s a sign of a wild ambush… Thanks for making this video! ♥️

TimelordUK: You are fantastic! Love your skills and presentation. No tattoos, no attitude, no pointless props and gimmicks, just pure skill, and a very clear video. Thank you. Subscribed

Ciglione Hebach Ciglione: Belíssimo, muito bom, adorei a técnica

Shari T: Great work! Refreshing to see a good, polished haircut without being overly trendy, half shaved, spray painted, and accompanied by a foot long beard...

H-Ali: Thank you so much for this tutorial..I cut my husband’s hair after watching this video.. turned out just perfect

Patricia Carini: Gracias. Muy buen tutorial. Lo he visto lento, rápido, etc.. y me ha sido muy útil.

Kristin Becks: One of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen! Now if only I could do this for my boys haircut!!!

Ismael Lacerda: Muito bom! very good!

Roxanne Dierking: Thank you so much for this excellent tutorial! I was finally able to cut my sons hair in a way that he actually likes!

Natalia Gasilina: Thank you so much for the secrets you explained very clearly! I really enjoyed your professional work. I always wanted to learn how make such a haircut.

Vayne: Thank you so much for uploading this! I've been trying to figure out how to cut my boyfriend's hair for years now and it never turned out right! Very graceful hand, and he looks FANTASTIC.

Elisabete Queiroz Guinho: Maravilhoso!!!!

Tess M: THANK YOU for such a great video. I love how systematic and organized you are when cutting. You make it easy to learn new things! :)

Lightless Walk: Incredible video. I'm a barber and struggle with all over shear cuts. Seeing simple things like how you grab the hair will change everything for me.

Alessandro Carlos Santos: Simplesmente fantástico a sua forma de corte, muito simples e eficiente! Parabéns.

Del Glasgow: Thank you so much for posting this video. My husband hasn't had a haircut since last February and I cut his hair using your techniques (the best I could, having never ever cut hair before) and it turned out good enough for him to like it. That is amazing because he is very particular about his hair cuts. Thank you again.

Ell Ess: Just cut my hubby's hair using this video as a guide. His hair hasn't been cut in 5 mos. It was my 1st time cutting a whole head of hair. It turned out great! Thanks for posting this tutorial!

Yvonne Reza: Thank u. This was so relaxing for me watching you cut his hair to perfection. I’ll be trying my best to duplicate your moves on my husband this weekend. Wish me luck ☘️

geovani silva: Trabalho maravilhoso

Nina Steele: Never cut hair before until today. So I needed a video with hair already exactly the length of my shaggy 13 year old son that ended like wanted it. Still had to bribe him with pizza but seriously this was a lifesaver. I definitely moved slower but he's not embarrassed to be seen in public so i call that a win. Thank you! Even though back when you uploaded this you had no idea you’d have a bunch of newbies and rookies following you. LOL

Tree Lore: This is the tutorial I follow I have tried a few. My husbands hair looks better than when he came back from the hairdresser ! I have a direct link on my desktop now :-) thank you!

Roza Namtook: I tried this way with my son, and it is very easy to follow and the out come is amazing

Irena Castle: Thank you. I have never cut anyone's hair before and used your tutorial to cut my son's hair. Minus your experience, it took me 3x the time and came out acceptably well :)

Etherberg Barrueta: This is superb! I'd love to watch more. Great video

Kamuran Alptekin: Hi Amanda, I cut my husband's hair with your method. He looks very well. Thank you for sharing with us. Happy New Year! Regards

Leslie Pahl: This was very helpful! Now, round two so I can "fix" somehow the sorry haircut I gave my spouse today. Since salons are closed he, like many men (and women!) have to resort to amatures like me. I wonder if there is a "condolence card" to send someone who got a botched haircut! Having a talent for cutting and styling hair is truly a gift.

PJ Okemmuo: Her parts are amazing. I use a light colored clipper comb for the clipper over comb on dark to see where I’m cutting but she had no problems

Runner Gunner: This video makes me realize what I lack as a barber. Great job and I'm sure this will elevate my craft.

Debra Walker: This is a brilliant tutorial. My partner has hair like this and with lockdown I've been looking for guidance on how to cut his hair. Still very nervous I think you make it look easier than it is

Jessica Pichardo: I love the way this turned out!

H-Ali: Tried my hands on my husband’s hair yesterday after watching this video several times... must say the end result may not had been perfect but het it for the job done.... not only that I’m thinking of taking hair cutting very seriously as a profession.... throughly enjoyed cutting it

TheJojo01902: Flawless! This is a perfect haircut. Thanks for showing so much detail!!

LalrinKT: I want to let my hair cut like this. Simple and nice.

Minnie: Gorgeous! Watching this to top up on my old skills Thank you

Hadi Uluengin: An extraordinary mastery of scissors and an aesthetic conception of volume. Congratulations madam and if I could find a hairdresser like you in Belgium too, I would be extremely happy.

Priscila Waltrick Bittencourt: OMG!! I've used this video to cut my husband's hair today and it turned out A M A Z I N G !!! That is the first time in my life I cut someone's hair - it took me 2 hours but I am so proud. What quarantine can do to you haha!!! Allen you rock, thank you so very much to share this with us ♡♡♡

DianeCanDo Flamtaps: Third time watching this and I can’t get over how good this hair cut is and how well you executed it. Amazing!!

Ирина Левченко: Супер!Выполнено все четко,быстро и аккуратно.Спасибо за технику стрижки на теменной зоне.Никаких лишних движений.Спасибо большое.Молодец!

Mildred Rafanan: I'm glad that you're very good on explaining how it's done!

Julio Jimenez: Wow. Great demonstration of skill. Clean partings and and very nice taper.

Nigel Harkness: Those were amazing tips!! Best lockdown haircut yet for my boy!!

Janneke de Ridder: This is just amazing. My boyfriend is so picky when it comes to his hair, and he let me cut it (miracle!). I watched this tutorial and was so nervous but the result is just amazing. He doesnt want to see a hairdresser anymore, so proud and thanks so much!

Bruno5 Roblox 2021: Muchas gracias! Me fue muy útil. Mi hijo tiene Así el cabello y lo he llevado a michos lugares Aquí en México y no he encontrado a nadie que se lo deje bien, así que opté por cortarselo yo y lo hice Asi como usted y le quedó muy bien..

Reivaj_Zemag: Great technique! Not everyone can accomplish it. I will grow my hair and get this style.

Azalia Simon: Just a tip, in the video settings you can slow down the playback in order to see a slowed down version of her cutting. I chose .5 (Especially when she starts using the clippers) Felt too fast for my beginner eyes and that helped me to follow this tutorial so much more!

Gabriela Salinas: Thank you so much for teaching us about man cut technique, God bless you abundantly for having such a generous heart and for sharing your knowledge with all the people that need to learn all what you teach.

Ariel the mermaid: I’m in cosmetology school and we just finished the basics course. Meaning we work on clients now. We only had 2 barbering classes so I’m not feeling that confident in men’s hair cuts. But this was a really good professional video to watch :) definitely gonna be practicing this one on my boyfriend

Christian Darby: Very well explained great video for education of men’s hair.

Azalia Simon: Going to follow this tutorial for my husband's cut! Only question is, when you cut the sides and back, should what angle should I keep my fingers / cuts? At first it looks like a 90% angle, however as you move more towards the back (specifically, towards the neck) looks like your cut angle changes.

oalsecnev1: This is one of the best haircut I've ever seen, no doubt. Superb technique and pure elegance. Really close to perfection

Zach Christman: I know this wasn't intended for self haircuts -- but it was by far the best at visually explaining how to tame my long pandemic hair on my own. My cut looks great. Thanks!!

MJ: Great video! Been cutting my son’s hair since COVID. OK results with clippers except for front. He has very curly thick hair in back and sides, thinning/balding in front. He is only 22, so I wondered if you have any suggestions. He is autistic, so trying to keep his confidence without destroying what hair he has left is important. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Amazon moto89: Amazing inspiration! , thank you

The Original Playboi: It drives me nuts to see her work with clippers!! She’s really good with scissors if I taught her the fade and clipper game it would not only improve her time with clients she would be unstoppable with any hair type ! I think ima start my own YouTube channel cutting hair to help woman like this since she did help me with my scissor technique !

Evita Khach: I love this! I’m currently going to cosmo school and we spent maybe an hour learning how to do men’s cuts with clippers and scissors but that’s all and I feel so nervous to get a male guest cuz I feel like I don’t know how to work with shorter hair at all; especially now my dad and bf want haircuts too but I’m too afraid I’ll mess up, but this video made it look really simple!
