People ask me all the time how I do my updo hairstyle! They also want to know if their length of hair will allow them to do this style. I finally video'd me showing how to do this updo hairstyle along with the tools I use to do it.

This updo works with straight hair, shoulder length hair, thin hair, and layered hair. (Mine is all of those!)

Hi everyone I'm going to show you how I do this up to hairstyle, it's easy. I do it on days that I don't wash my hair, which is about three or four days a week, and it's easy to do I'll. Show you, when I use how I do it, and this is actually the first time I'm going to see myself doing it from that side. When I edit the video alright, let's get started to start off. I always wear a jacket, an old one, that I was ready to throw out because they don't want to get spray on my clothes. I'Ve ruined some clothes in the past before so the supplies I use our curling iron texturizer from John amigo. I buy it in a huge bottle, I'll link to another video where I talk about this - and I put it in this bottle that I get from sailing because I will be using a curling iron. Also, I use matrix boo-boom freezing spray toward the end and I use hair pins. I get them from Sally, they come in a box that looks kind of like this. They typically come in four colors black brown, silver and gold. I buy them in brown. Now, when you buy them, when you take them out of the box, they look like this. This is the size alright, but not too long in the past. They always used to come like this, which was better because they lasted for longer and with my last box of pens it was a different brand and I called them about this and they said. Oh, we don't know anything about that and they stretch out quicker. So I go through quicker, so I actually, I had some of these older ones in a travel thing, because I used to do a lot of business travel and I can stuff in travel. Little bags and cosmetics bags ready to go, and I had some of these. So I sent them one of those with one of theirs and I never all right. So I'm ready to go and see my hair is kind of drab. Looking I have my curling iron heat it up, I'm using a wide. This might be an inch and a quarter, and you can see how my hair is layered. I get people asking me all the time. Could I do that with my hair? Well, it depends on the length of your hair. So I'm going to stop start on the crown of my head here right behind the bang and I'm just going to grab a section and spritz it with the curling iron texturizer. I like to comb it through and then give it a few seconds with the iron and I'm just going to be doing the top of my head with this top it'll a little bit to the side, and I just whip through these fairly quickly. I pretty much just do if I feel I wanted to put the camera behind me so that you can see what I'm doing back here, because that's where my updo and how many of these I do is kind of pending on how much hair I crap at One time my hair is fairly thin and obviously highlighted. I don't know if you can hear my dogs and then because they can't see, I will. The other thing I use is a mirror and I'll take a look of course that you normally close my bathroom door. It'S really small and that's enough so now I'm gon na take a brush very dirty brush. I probably got this at Ulta. This is a jerome alexander, brush I'll see if I can find it that way, brush through that and know I'm going to backcomb with my rat tail comb, and I really do need a rat tail comb for doing this. It doesn't have to have a metal end, but it does need to be a rat tail, so I'm gon na take sections and taking this section first, I thought my camera would go higher than this, but it doesn't. And yes, I am back combing. So all these sections that I just curled and the curling put some good body into the hair. For me I could stick straight here. Sometimes I have to go back over it. So now what I'm doing is arranging it for where I can see it myself to get a little bit of a poof, and then you can see what I'm doing in the back. And then, when I get the end here, I'm going to twist it around and then I'm gon na check it in this hand mirror to make sure nothing is weird. If something what's weird, I might take the comb and comb it through here or I might just take my hand off of the nut the twist and redo it okay. So now I'm ready for some pins and typically in this top one I'll put in three. But it's pretty common for me to use or this takes practice. No, I do it by feel and you'll know over time whether that feels secure or not, and it does so now I'm going to take my rap chalk home and I'm going to push my camera's higher and I'm going to go through my hair here and over Here, okay and then I just wrapped it with my left hand, then I'm gon na put the comb down and pick up the brush and smooth out these sides switch hands and give the brush a couple swipes through the hair. So now we have this section and I'm going to twist it and check it. Sometimes they get little bubbles in the air that don't look great. That needs to be combing through a brush through okay. So then this one is going to take three or four pins. Also, this is all by just imagining what it looks like no idea you can see. I'M actually gon na be able to watch myself back on the during the editing process. Okay, so I'm gon na do four. Alright! So now I'm going to do this flippy sliding on your side and my hair's like buddy first. So what I'm gon na do is use my matrix with boom freezing spray, which gives me a little bit of something under here spray, those a bit and give it a couple seconds and then brush it up and twist it, and sometimes I end up having to Redo this one twist it I check it in the mirror and it's okay. If a few of those little hairs are falling because I'm actually going to secure those with two bobby pins. And here I'm going to do, pin on the right pin on the upper right cut on the top and on the left, and then I'm gon na feel whether anymore. If I need more I'll put another one in the right side here. But I don't think I do so now what I'm going to do, because these little hairs come out all day, I'm going to take just regular bobby pins. I never move brown and I'm just going to pin them in here and during the day. If these little hairs come out, I can just pull up the two bobby pins. Pin them back in and I don't touch the ear pins because either way they have to start all over and the other thing I do, because I have these hairs coming out I'll put a pin in here. So I'll start it and then I'll put it under than here. So I start it and let me put it under here, so I'm still not done so now. I need to fluff this, but I need to see what I'm doing so. I don't know if you can see past my head into this mirror, but I need them here to do it and I'm just going to gently pluck these. Did you get the to go? Left and right now, the other thing I can do. I can pull some out of the side. If I want also thanks or I can part the bags, but I could pull a little bit out here. If I wanted all right and then I do a little bit of hair space and that's it that's my updo and that's how fast I can do it Thanks.

Lorraine Mcneil: Wow, Ive never seen anything like this before. I favourited it to try it myself. I have super thin hair and shorter than yours so I'm sure it wont work but its just gorgeous. You hair is so thick. I know you say its thin, but it looks amazingly thick. Either that or you have lots and lots of it. Love it xx

Carol Lawton: Love your end result of your hair style but best video I've ever seen on YouTube for hair with the camera behind you. We could see how you did everything and made it so easy to follow. When the camera is directly in the front, it's really hard to visualize what is being done by only listening with the odd time turning around for us to see. Excellent hair stye and video!

spooky lady: I’m going to try this, I have fine hair and I do like it up, this makes a lot of volume, thanks.

Debbie Nurse: Thank you for the excellent video. Please suggest how I purchase the CIT....I went to the site you listed, but it I’m having a difficult time trying to purchase on that site. It seems it caters only to professional hair stylists. I feel silly asking this, but I really would like to purchase the one you suggest, as I see a lot of great reviews. I would really appreciate your help...thank you kindly!

Paula Parrish: Very cute!

Go Kaleo Style: Gosh you are beautiful. I watched even though I don't have any hair to style!

Rose Janet: You are sooo pretty. I love the messy bits at the back. You also could let a few little strands of hair that naturally fall along the sides, let them just hang down along the side of your face, it would look beautiful too. A little less sculpted. Still a beautiful do.......

Nayana Ramesh: Beautiful hairdo

Angie: I like it!

David Hill: Very nice Thank you Pat

LinYouToo: Thanks!

Jeanne Jenninga: I thought you were going to use a hairpiece! You did it without one, just your hair. Looks very cute!!!!!

One Italia: I guess I'm not the first one to tell you that you look like Jill Zarin

Gloria Koch: New viewer here. You can’t use a plier to squeeze the pin near the top to make it more narrow? I hate yo throw out and buy new if I can make the old useable.

Ballroomdiva: Great video, but your hair is not short..!!

Fiona Frazer: This said for short hair - yours is not short!
