Raise your hand if you're not good at updos! Having shoulder length hair makes it even harder because we're fighting to create an illusion of having more hair. Here are my go-to updos for my hair, plus these worked when it was EVEN SHORTER!!

Hello, curlfriends, wavy, babes and silver sisters. If you are brand new to my channel welcome, my name is carrie jessica. I talk about gray, hair, wavy hair ways to modify the curly girl method. Sometimes i open things. I'Ve spent too much money on and if those things sound like they're interesting to you, hit that subscribe button and hang out with me more often now before we get started, i do want to go over my shirt because it's amazing, i will have a link in The description box below this shirt is from silver and free. I do have a photo of it on my instagram and that photo has been. I don't know if you would say it was catfished. It'S been taken from my instagram and other people use it in different gray hair groups, and then they link like some obscure t-shirt company that they themselves are. But i want you to know from the horse's mouth that this is from silver and free, i'm not affiliated with the company in any way shape or form, but they are amazing, so check it out. So in today's video i'm going to do a couple of really fun updos, i feel like these both show off your gray hair grow out, as well as distract from your gray hair grow out at the same time and they're not just for gray hair. Obviously, these would work regardless of your hair color. This isn't meant to be some super professional or formal updos. These are meant to be fun and funky, and just let loose a little bit, i will be using some of these tiny, clear poly bands - and i have a couple of bobby pins in here. There'S like five. None of these bobby pins match my hair. So again, if you are doing this for really like a going out in front of the world, you would want to probably get bobby pins that match your hair color. So this is a leftover hair. That sounds weird that makes it sound like it's like a meatloaf. This is from when i did my best interpretation of like a really loose voluminous wavy shag, very sex in the city, carrie bradshaw, esque vibes, and i will put that video up here if you care to watch it. So since my hair is already relatively parted in the middle, the first thing that i'm going to do are some fun space buns. So if you have a lot of hair, it's really easy to do things like this, like space buns and have your buns look really big and full. If you have shorter hair, you need a hack. So i am going to gather up my hair and if i was doing this to really like go out with it, i would make sure that my part was even all the way down to the back. I haven't done this because again we're just doing this. In my room for fun, i almost spilled the entire bag of clear bands that would have been so great. So the first thing i'm going to do is just double band this and then i'm going to do my best attempt at matching it on the other side. Okay, i think that we are relatively, even so, if you have a lot of hair, you're, probably thinking to just go around like this, for the space bun, but considering my hair is just shoulder length and there's a bunch of layers in it. This is clearly not the way i'm going to be able to create it. So, let's undo that and i'm going to just get the hair out of my lip gloss, i'm going to just pull this hair up, take another clear elastic and i am going to put another one over it just one single time. This is going to give us a big full bun. I'M gon na do the same thing on the other side, so you're going to probably be left with something like this, where you've got one that looks very different than the other one. The way we're going to match these up is to just take a bobby pin gather any loose stragglers, pin that in my bangs are driving me nuts and then same thing here. On the other side, the only thing i did out of frame was take loose hair. That was again like kind of falling out and just wrap it around and pin it just like you would a messy bun or any other uncooperative hair, but i couldn't do it on camera because again i don't have a mirror in front of me, but this is The final look, it is super cute distracts from the fact that i have all of this gray hair grow out, but somehow also amplifies it and makes it super fun. These space buns also hold up really well, if you're someone who works out if you're doing yard work it's a great way to take hair that might not all fit on top of your head and get them into smaller sections, plus, let's face it. These are super cute, hello. I am home yeah. That would be great. I can totally do that, although i'm in the middle of filming a youtube video - and i literally look like i'm crazy, because i'm in between hairdos so so hold on here. I love you. No matter what so see say hi to everyone on youtube, hello, youtube by the way, uh. If you have lemon, i want to say it's like an essential oil. I saw that you could just put a little bit on a q-tip and touch to one of these and it'll like fall apart. I saw it done like in real time, but i don't have any so that's just the pits for me. So the next one is a simple top knot, just this front section of hair. Now i absolutely will admit this is not a look, i think is particularly cute on me and again with all of these. If this weren't quarantine life - and i was doing these with the intention of being somewhat cute and going out into public - i would do this in front of a big mirror and be a little bit more specific with how i was placing things and with my aggressive Top knot, in the same way that i would with a messy bun, i just kind of place a couple of bobby pins discreetly around, so that it kind of makes it more of a bun look instead. So this next one was definitely inspired, while my husband and i were on a bit of a viking kick we watched the last kingdom which i love, and then we watched a vikings right after it and let's face it, i don't think that you can watch either Of those shows, as someone with any length to your hair at all whatsoever and not immediately think i want to do that. So this is a faux hawk. A fake mohawk. Definitely very breeda inspired. So while when you do a top knot, you're looking for it to be right on top of your head, when i do my faux hawk, i like to have it a little bit further back. I want the top of my fauxhawk to show from the front, but when you have shorter length hair that you're working with it has to be far enough back to where it's not super disconnected in the back. So i've got one pony in and i am just going to pull that forward. While i gather my hair into another one, i think i'm just gon na do two today um, i will definitely include a post where i've done three. I think that three looks really good and again, if i were doing this to go out, i would definitely do three, but it's a little bit harder when you're not in front of a mirror. So i've got two ponies there in the back and we're going to do the same thing that we've been doing since i don't have enough length to wrap it around to make a bun. I am just going to gather the hair and put one more around it, and i don't think i don't think i did that very well and i'm gon na do the same thing at this bottom one. So now that i have put another loose band just around it to kind of create a faux looking bun, i am going to pull on these pieces and then just add a couple of bobby pins in so again as with all of these, if you're going somewhere And you want it to be a little cleaner. A little more put together just take a little bit of extra time to make sure that they are blended together, better and place your bobby pins in a more precise manner. I just kind of blindly did it so here is the side and the back. Thank you so much for hanging out with me. While i get to play with the length of my hair, it means more to me than than you could possibly know at this point.
