Natural Hair Challenge - 30 Days, 30 Updos: Day 3

How to do day 3 of my 30 Days, 30 Updos natural hair challenge. Don't forget to check out my blog: www.myfroandi.com and tweet me: @Aishaandlife

Okay, so we're gon na go straight into it, start off with a braid out or to start, as you usually do just a recap of what I do in the evenings. To put my hair, I spritz my hair with my daily spritz. Then I keep in this bottle and then these days I'm basically putting my hair into some chunky twists. You can put that put your hair into chunky twists into chunky braids into kronos flat, twists, whatever it is, to keep ear, stretched and also detangled, so I've undone. My twists and now I'm going to just fluff it out continue frothing it out until it gets to a sort of kind of uniform length. Excuse the lighting. It'S been quite a miserable day, so this video is propagating two piped darker. Then my other videos do cuz. It'S the evening, okay, so once you get your hair ready, um, what you do is you start off Michael's out of the way start off with your comb, you can use like a rat tail comb just to sort of create, basically a line, so I'm just basically Just putting a diagonal line in my hair doesn't have to be absolutely perfect, but just as sort of neat as possible. Okay, so now that's done. I'M gon na split some of my daily spritz just on the hairline smooth that in make sure that you massage the spritz the same way that the hair has been parted. Okay. So now I take my gel I'm kindly using ISO + styling gel. You can use any gel of your choice. Basically, this is just for for reference in case you have kind of stuck on jealous, so I just put a bit in smooth that in just a long, the hairline, okay, do it on the other side. Okay, so I'm gon na tell you a secret when I was doing this hairstyle. I had a very clear picture of what I wanted. The end result to be, but if you follow me on Facebook, you'll see that I posted a comment to stay to sort of thing saying that fro my hair has fun to caught on that we're doing this hair challenge and my hair is very resistant. So there's some times when I do hair styles, so I'm just using a brush to just smooth the gel in more then sometimes I might do some hairstyles and my hair is not cooperating. This was one of those styles, so you will know. I had an end sort of picture of how I thought my hair was going to look like it did not look like that, so it was quite interesting because what ended up happening was fine anyways, and I just worked with what I had. It was one of those things. I'Ve gone to the point now where, if my hair is saying no, I'm just gon na be like okay, fine cool, but I'm going to do something that I'm gon na be able to walk out of my house with so right. Getting on set um take a cut-up pair of tights or whatever stretchy headband that you use and actually because my fro is so resistant, I don't think it's gon na stay that way, so I'm just gon na take some pins, just normal, bobby pins and pin none, Especially the side bit because I have a feeling, if I start using just the headband tight thing: it's not gon na stay. Ok, so just keep it in place, use as many pins as you need you so now, I'm gon na take my headband and just like. I do with my other sort of props. I'M just gon na tie lose the other back and then start pushing my headband upwards, just being careful not to mess up with this line that I created okay. So as it goes up, I'm gon na tighten it up back, keep pushing okay, so I'm just being careful not to sort of interfere with the clips that I've put in okay. So push it up as far as you can well. As far as you want really you're going to be doing pretty much like a it's, not a full high path, but it's not just a sort of low puffy there. Okay, so now take a scarf. I use the same time scarf. I used to wrap my hair at night with fold in half and cover your hair. At least the part that needs to be flattened. Okay, so make sure that all the parts that I want flat align flat okay. So this is where I thought things were going to be different. I can't even describe to you what I was sort of picturing for this look, but it's cool. So what I did now was I basically divided my hair into three sections. They don't have to be neat okay, so I basically got about that much of my hair okay! So that's about a third! So what I'm gon na do now is I'm going to just pull it out tonight me, okay and I'm going to do what I call a loose twist so separate, separate this section into two loose sections. It doesn't have to be defined, and now I'm just gon na pull it up and then at the top you're going to do a two strand twist. So you just just your hair around each other like that, just hair around again and keep doing that until you reach the end. So I basically didn't start at the bottom here, because then it would be a very defined kind of twist. Okay, make sure as much hair is in as possible, so what I'm gon na do now is I'm gon na pull the end like this and I'm gon na fold it over put it towards the back, so I'm gon na pin it here. Okay, so take your bobby pins. You only need maybe about two or three for this part and then slide it in from one direction. Secure the tail of that twist. Take another bobby pin and then do the same thing, but from the other direction can I make sure that it's secure and then just repeat with the other three section you take out the scarf that you used to flatten your hair, okay, okay! So now, you're gon na do the same thing you did to these two humps or bumps as you did well yeah, so you things'll get going to do the same two things so twist and pin 1 direction. Another pin from the other direction to secure okay. So now you've basically got these three sort of humps and basically so if you used a headband to basically secure this, even if you use tights, you can always know just tuck in the ends. Just do it discreetly, and this is a style, and this is kind of originally what I was hoping to get, but what I ended up doing was I made sure that everything here I was happy with so now. What I'm gon na do is I'm gon na undo this, so this is totally up to you whether you want to do as I have it now or to have it a bit sort of poofier looking, so I just untie, let's dive or tides on it, and So now, with a tight size, headband wise, I'm just going to secure with pins more pins, just one directions should be enough. If you see, if you feel that your hair is sort of popping out or anything just doing the other direction as well, I'm just gon na remove this one pin here and pin it further back up here. Just get it to a point where you're happy tuck. This one in okay and that's it it was a very human bomb to kind of style, but it worked out quite cute in the end and quite needs as well. Obviously, if you have a bit of shorter hair, you might not be able to achieve this style as easily, let's not as somebody with medium to longer hair. This is the finished look cool thanks for watching

S: Love this! Thank you, will be trying this tomorrow on my hair.

Aisha & Life: I'm so glad you find them easy to follow. I try and make them as explanatory as possible :)

keyla965: That was so creative!! I love it, its really cute.

G.DoloresPlants: I did your three puffs and I love it thank you.

theresia mshana: Hi Aisha...I am new here, absolutely in love with your styles mostly because my hair is exactly like yours! (maybe cuz we are both from Tanzania? lol just wanted to put that in there..) anyway I love love your channel and I have  a request..if you can redo the '30 days, 30 updos challenge' with the better camera...[yes, I used "the", cuz I have seen the latest videos and it IS a better camera/lighting?],you would be so much help to all of us natural newbies. Anyway I just wanted to let you know you are an inspiration and I am already a fan... and I have subscribed :-). Asante

Dey NM: Love it!! I am going to try it!! I have the most stubborn hair ever and have no idea what to do with it

Kim E: thank you! i think i'm going to try this.

LakeciaA MacLak: Damned if you do and damned if you don't! Geesh...harsh critics with such negative energy! Anywhooooo...thank you for the tutorial. REAL Naturalistas know how difficult it can be to style our hair, ESPECIALLY 4a-5c hair types. I actually love this style! With some neatness, if time permits, would be a great style for ANY occasion. Thank you Queen!

Aisha & Life: Thanks Linda :)

Candie5000: Too cute! I lovee it

Tiffany Davis: love your hair styles. I'm terrible at styling my hair your styles are simple and easy for me to do.

ThiaRore: I was a little unsure about, but it's cute!! I might try it this summer as a "quick do" :)

Tami T: Awesome idea to pin hair then add headband!

Keba Tlhoaele: Hi there, been natural for about 1year now, just wondering where do you get your oils and big toothed combs?

Thuli Malaka: @Ash w - I think you're being harsh. Some of us are new at styling our natural hair and there aren't many videos I've watched that explain things enough because they all fast forward etc. so I feel lost. So I don't think it's fair to say it's 'tedious' cos she's showing us clearly how it's done. You can always skip ahead if you find it tedious. Having sad that, THANK YOU AISHA for taking the time to help us style challenged ladies! I'm loving what your doing for us!! xx

Esther Phanice: Woow Thanx I love your tutorials

Aisha & Life: Thank you!

NvrLoseFocus: What is her daily spritz?

Aisha & Life: thank you :D

seedlingsplace: Greetings, What is the daily spritz that you're using?

PrincessSomto: Someone said to be honest. And while i think they are right, they went too far. This isn't the worst hairstyle on Youtube. Its kind of a mickey mouse look, that, if done better or made more refined, would be very cute on CERTAIN people. People with smaller round heads and stature, like the girl who is doing it. I can't personally say i would do this style though.

Aisha & Life: thanks :)

Aisha & Life: Thank you

Aisha & Life: Lol, had to be done with this stubborn hair of mine!

Beautifulme: first time to watch u, i just subscribed

Aisha & Life: Lol, thank you

The JayBee Show: Very chic

Ms. Angela D. Lewis: Y'all really need to be honest.....Like me this was the worst hair do I have ever seen on here...IJS and keeping it real

LaKisha White: *ba sewed44mel

Priscilla J: Ummm with all due respect, this is a style that should only be worn to the gym or store it needs to be put in a more flattering position ( the bun) I love that u took the time to help ppl tho best wishes
